I thought this mechanic was for lazy hosts. :P
That's a great idea. I think in my next game, I'll assign all the host responsibilities to the players so I can just sit back and watch. ;)
This sounds like a wild project. May I cohost this game with you? We could delegate everything!
This started as a joke, but now I kind of want to do it. "Choose Your Own Mafia"!
Players choose their own roles.
Players who are killed write their own death posts.

i'm still getting used to it, but it also excites me for (if and) when i get to bring you all my closed setup! I can assure everyone it will be great! (also it's a bit smaller, but i dont think that'll be a problem)
The next Heist game up is a completely closed setup, hosted by yours truly. :mafia:

But you are somewhat correct. Large, open, intricately-themed games are our bread and butter, and the reason a lot of folks continue to play here.

Re: What is your favorite Mafia Game Mechanic and Why?

Secret roles are a fun addition to games to, but incredibly hard to implement effectively enough to keep them secret.

Long Con's strategy in World Reborn where he listed two roles in the Role List that were actually one role is a clever and ideal way though.
