Re: [Night 1] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

I should probably make a note for y'all, I will always put time with loved ones as my top priority (of course) and I get that at weird hours. Especially late at night. Also there will be some days that you hear very little from me and that will typically be why. I know I'm being captain obvious but you guys don't know me so I'm letting you in on how I operate and a glance at what to expect from my "schedule".

Don't worry though. I'll make time to PM Dom and tell him that I choose to kill each and every one of you tonight. :feb:

Re: [Night 1] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

My catching-up post touches on this for a second but, guys, can I take a moment to play peace-keeper a little bit?

I've noticed some moments of not-so-sarcastic snark. A bit of anger and name calling at times. Mind you, none of this is directed at anyone in particular. I just want to throw out a friendly reminder that games are meant to be fun. If you're not having fun then consider why that is. The part where we're trying to get each other killed? Yeah, that's not real. It's all in jest. I'd hope we could kick back and have some laughs in between those moments. I just want everyone to have a good time. I will try to only speak for myself right now but everything I say should be taken with a grain of salt. I assume the same applies to most of us. There's not a single one of you that I wish anything bad on and there never would be for any reason even if you say the opposite to me. My goal while playing this game and in life at all times is to keep things light and silly. Happiness and anger are equally contagious. I hope you'll help me spread the former.

If you're upset, we did have one Mr. Talking Llama make this invitation earlier in the game:

[quote="thellama73"]Hello,
I am your Mod on Duty (MoD). I get ever so lonely, so please talk to me about this game. Feel stressed? Angry? Like you want to punch Epignosis in his skeletal face? I don't blame you. Tell me about it. I won't judge. Is MP posting too much? Let me know! Did somebody break a rule? Did the host break his own rule? I am the person to complain to. If you complain in the thread and not to me, you will hurt my feelings. We try to avoid hurt feelings around here. You can even use swear words in your PMs to me. Honestly, I don't mind.

I'll check back in later, but let me know if you guys need anything at all. Have a great game!
[/quote]

I'm sure it's still on the table.

Now I'll leave you with some pictures to make you smile.

Re: [Night 1] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

I just want to mention, regarding the LC stealth vote, that it's not him voting SVS at the end that stands out to me. It was him or her. Everyone would want to save themselves, good or bad. However, if he really claimed he wouldn't be around and didn't post at all leading up to the ending of the poll when people would have loved to hear from one of the top suspects - the fact that he WAS around during that time is very fishy.

Time is running out but I've only made it to the end of page 12. I would like to get my vote in on time so it goes to my number one suspect by the end of page 12: Long Con.

I think what I will do now, despite time no longer being a factor, is continue my rapid fire responses to what has happened these last two days and post that first and then later go back and do more digging on what stands out the most to me. It just makes sense to me to continue it this way.

Re: [Day 1] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

I'm going to look at the last two pages and see if there's anything I want to comment on. However, I wanted to post about the cryptic pm I received first.

I would like to preface this by saying that I showed Dom word for word what I planned to say about my PM and asked him if that was okay. I would recommend everyone else do the same before sharing information about their PMs out of respect to Dom but I'm not your mother. Also, your room is a pigsty. Clean it up or you're grounded.

My pm mentioned Sondheim, Brown, Schwartz, and Hammerstein together. It also repeated "lyricist" and "3/4" over and over. I think it may be Schwartz's role and I don't think he's a threat to us but I obviously can't be certain.

Sloonei wrote: Gumshoe's follow-up to that post is also a bit shady, in line with the other one. Backtracks on any possible stance, juet trying to figure things out.
I have an early suspect.
I fail to see what's suspicious about this conversation. MP asked if it's reasonable for Cobalt to suspect Devin under the conditions that Devin reminds Cobalt of himself as a baddie. My contribution to that was, yes, I think that is a reasonable reason for Cobalt to feel that way. MP then asked if I also suspect Devin. I did not suspect Devin. I don't know how Devin plays and I don't see anything in how Devin is playing that reminds me of past experiences. If it does for Cobalt, it makes sense that he'd suspect him. It, however, does not for me. I don't see a problem with this viewpoint.

To your reply:

No. I don't know anybody in this game. To my knowledge I've never played with any of them. In a sense, yes, I defended Cobalt's reasoning for suspecting Devin. Not because I agreed with the suspicion and not because I actively wanted to defend Cobalt but because - I'm nosy. :P MP asked a question, I had an opinion on said question, and so I decided to share my opinion. I expect to do this often. It's in my nature.

Okay. Thank you then. Same to you.

Re: [Day 1] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

Is it bad etiquette to comment on a discussion not involving yourself here? If so, I may be in for a world of hurt trying to keep my head down and eyes forward.

I felt MP proposed a thought-provoking question as to whether or not it makes sense to assume other players could be using similar tactics to those that you use yourself. My stance was that it makes sense to think that way because, odds are, someone is doing something now that someone else has done in the past.

Also, to Golden's contribution, I didn't turn anything around on Cobalt. My first and second line had nothing to do with each other. The quotes read as followed:

Cobalt:
"Devin is suspicious because that's how I play as a baddie"
MP:
"So because you do it, others are also doing it?"
Gumshoe:
"I understand why Cobalt would feel suspicious of it because it's possible that they both have similar strategies as baddies."

And at the same time

Cobalt:
"I was super-civvie last time!"
MP:
"So we shouldn't suspect you because you figured out a lot last time?"
Gumshoe:
"Mafia know more than we do anyway." (this portion of my original post in question was meant as a joke if it wasn't clear)

Also, sorry if you feel like that's the only thing I've contributed to this point. I feel like I've been well balanced between goofing around to keep the game engaging and fun AND being insightful as to the topics of the game. That's a balance I had hoped to continue but maybe it wasn't so balanced to begin with if you feel the way you do.

I can't understand why the two of you are so anti-lists. Are you claiming you have no suspicions? No gut feelings? That you never have gut feelings Day 0/Day 1? I know, personally, I got gut feelings as soon as I entered the thread. I have gotten gut feelings off of a lot of people so far. It's not evidence (yet) and it's damn sure not proof but they're there.

Again, I feel much more comfortable playing devil's advocate on myself as I truly wish to be fair and talking things out in my own ways helps me understand new viewpoints, I can understand why you may not like the lists being posted publicly as in theory you're putting a hit on "trusted town". I put that in parenthesis because I would be shocked if a majority of us could agree on someone to trust this early on. Later in the game it could potentially be dangerous but this early on I don't think town members would care that much let alone the baddies.

Black Rock points out MP's list and, to me, there's nothing wrong with what he said. He gave two people the slightest town vibe he could. That seems entirely reasonable. Or is it just Epi that you have a problem with? Because I don't know the man but I'd give him the same color MP did if I made a list using MP's colors. Maybe even one shade farther than MP did. :srsnod: Decisions have to made and they will be made before we have proof. So every little read I get on someone helps. Some will be right and some will be wrong but I'm not ashamed of them. I may even put them in rainbow list form to counter the rainbow list hate I'm seeing. Re: [Day 0] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

This discussion has changed direction a little bit. Let me make sure I understand what all sides are saying.

Epignosis's POV (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong):
LC posts about other players.
Epignosis says he finds LC's post suspicious.
LC defends what Epignosis pointed out.
LC then says his initial post was under the strategy of posting about people to see how the react to their names coming up in that manner.
Epignosis believes that LC is now making up reasons and that LC didn't have that strategy or he would focus more on what he learned from Epignosis's response rather than spending his time defending what Epignosis pointed out.

LC's POV (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong):
Starts off the same, however, he is saying he did post that to see what people's reactions would be. However, with Epignosis suspecting, of course he would respond to Epignosis interrogating him but that doesn't negate the initial strategy.

About right, boys/girls?

PS. Epignosis, I keep writing your name and it doesn't have a clear short nickname to it. Is there something shorter you go by? I considered Epig but I don't know if I'd like being called Epig. :p

Re: [Day 0] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

So the game begins.

I mean, I don't want to just jump on a bandwagon but I've been pinged my what Epignosis has started here. As potentially weak as of a suspicion as it is (which, I mean, it's not even Day 1 so the littlest things really do matter) I can see exactly what Epignosis is saying. Long Con's post reads somewhat like he wants us to think he's contributing without actually contributing. Playing devil's advocate on myself, there is little to nothing to contribute day 0 but it's the feeling that he wants us to think that he contributing that feels fishy. I see why LC saying MP is stirring things up is a good thing and then belittling it as a shoving match is weird. I concur.

That being said, SVS dragged that suspicion a little bit further down the hole and went with LC. 1) The idea of "buddying up" has come up today and SVS came off like LC's knight in shining armor coming to rescue him from Epignosis. 2) Saying that Epignosis is trying to distract us. Distract us from what? Discussing Reading Rainbow? 3) I'm not afraid to be honest of my selfish ways, the main reason this stood out to me is because I saw my name. Dragging themselves and myself into the "interesting" topic comes off very weird to me. I'm battling with my ego as whether I find it weird because subconsciously I just don't like my name coming up or if it truly is weird. I'm leaning toward the latter. I mean, my use of interesting was talking about MP's previous game. Much different than LC's usage of the word. My name being included just seems like a tactic to link up an innocent name to your own. It's like "See, everyone is doing it."

Now, mind you, THE GAME HASN'T EVEN TRULY BEGUN XD so I'm the tiniest things are just popping off the screen right now and are probably making me paranoid but, hey, it's better to try to figure things out than to sit back and wait. Cuz thar be killahs on teh loose! :srsnod:

TLDR: I'm getting town vibes from Epignosis and baddie vibes from LC & SVS.

PS. The only mafia I have played in years is quick mafia games that last, like, at most 30 minutes. Trying to readjust back into the swing of mafia in this type of forum setting is a little tricky. I'm a ranting, wordy kind of guy to begin with so if you think I need to relax I would appreciate the advice. I feel like I'm trying to compensate because I'm used to not even writing as much as I have in this single post... in an entire game. I still need to find what the correct balance is.

I'm telling you up front I ain't answering any of this GTH bullshit.

And I ain't doing any ISOs.

And I damn sure ain't doing no rainbows reads. I've got Reading Rainbow, and that's enough rainbow reading for me.
Did you see the kickstarter stuff about Reading Rainbow?
I'll have to take your word for it. ;)
I see your interest is totally piqued. :haha:
Brainfart confirmed. Ignore all previous interactions. :ninja:

Hi, nice to meet you for the very first time.

Basically this :noble:
I don't give a fuck, y'all can vote for me whenever you want, if you want. Just keep in mind that the most recent mafia game I played my day 3 scum reads list was 5/6 accurate and I got MVP. I don't know you guys as well as that crowd but I do have decent instincts.
So because it is line with your mafia meta to do something, you extrapolate to mean that it is likely within someone else's meta, whom you've never met, as well?

Are you implying that we shouldn't vote for you because you have good instincts? What does that have to do with your alignment?
It's a decent theory. No one is ENTIRELY a unique little snowflake no matter what our mothers tell us. If one person thought of it then it's possible others have as well.

Mafia probably have better "instincts" than the rest of us anyway.
If you think it's a decent theory, then are you also suspecting Devin?
You obviously haven't been listening to Devin and I discussing our BTSC in the previous page. Actual answer, no, I'm still trying to figure people out.

Okay, thank you. I predict I'll be using some green and orange in my future. Hopefully no red.

Well, jeez, you (my mafia brother) should have told me (your mafia brother) not to do it when I (your mafia brother) told you (my mafia brother) that I (your mafia brother) was going to post that.

Did I mention that we're mafia brothers?

This isn't in green because it's all true :shifty:

I do think it would suck to come to a new site and get lynched Day 1 your first game, so newbies will get a "free pass" from me, but only from my vote (not any suspicion I have), and if they are my top suspect going into Day 2, I will not hesitate to vote for a newbie.
Perfect! This mafia team of all newbies I am in is going to win this game so easily :dark:

By the way, MP, cool Day 0 idea for Death Note. Which option won?

Hey guys, I found a member of the mafia. Ready to have your minds blown? How many letters are in Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber? Arguably about 20 or so. And 20 has a 2 AAAAND a 0. What else has a 2 and a 0? 200. Only 200. Nothing else. How many digits in 200? 3 if you don't go into decimals and stuff. And Andrew Lloyd Webber divorced his first wife, when? Good job, class, '83. So 8. Who was the eighth person to vote? Long Con. What did he vote for? 1. Also, he did it one time. (That's additional evidence) How many digits in 1? 1. 1 as in first? Yes of course. What else would it be? Second? No first. Who was the first person to post? Dom. Dom is mafia.

I don't know how seriously I am going to be able to take Epignosis with that irresistible pout he's got going on in his avatar. :phew: Is it hot in here?
What makes you so sure? :feb:

Regarding Death Note, it was a tight race for a while there between Normal and L/Light, but Normal won it in the end.
Not sure. Not sure at all, sir. Don't hurt me. :puppy:

Okay, interesting. I thought it would be cool if something else had won. Maybe another time. By the way, should I also use green when I'm not talking about this game?

I like this guy already. Seems legit. I always trust a person (man or woman) with a mustache and a... is that a fez? I think it's a fez. I like it.

I got 16, ya schmucks! One of the last to pick and I still got the number I wanted. I love you, ya schmucks!
