Re: [Day 4]: Film Directors.
Okay, couldn't enjoy my quality BBC time while thinking about this game. Came back to vote (I'm gonna go with Canuck. I feel a bit better about it than Rico. Slightly) and saw your post. In Monopoly, I asked for a replacement on Day 2 because I fell behind and never caught up (and honestly never understood what the heck was going on), but I don't think a replacement was ever found (I would ask Epi at work and he said I was still on the lynch polls, to my horror). I tend to be much more active, good or bad, in smaller games I've found, and LoZ is my freakin' jam Hope that answers your question, but I'm happy to clarify (probably tomorrow, if I survive).Turnip Head wrote:Okay, I read ninjuu's latest post so I haven't gone back to read all her old ones.
Bloops, my question to you is this. You cite real life issues as a reason for your lack of activity, that's totally cool. I was wondering if you could talk about the Monopoly game, in which you suddenly disappeared from the thread after like Day 2, never to be seen or heard from again, even though you were active on TS in the faster Zelda game (which I believe you ended up being bad in). Can you talk about why you stopped posting in the Monopoly game? It will help me gain perspective on your arguments here.
Okay. Now I can enjoy TV and brownie.

I'm going to eat a mug brownie and watch British television. I will check back and either vote Rico or Canuck.

Re: [Day 4]: Film Directors.
Let me get a few things out of the way first that I have said multiple times in a bit more detail. I have mentioned that I have been extremely busy, and with what little time I've had to actually play mafia, I was very invested in the Game of Champions. Unfortunately for Mongoose (and I'm sorry I hadn't put as much effort in the beginning, almighty hostess!), this game began in the middle of that, and I had signed up for this one during a lull period at work (AKA not working), not knowing that Christmas is also a lull period for mafia and that it goes nuts again in January, as does work. So, by the time I died in GoC, and hadn't paid enough attention in this game, I was hanging on by strings in what I knew was going on here, and voting by what I understood and could see easily (AKA behavior). This was especially easy with the Vomps vote because his playing in this game was EXTREMELY similar to a game I'd actually played with him when he was bad (AYBS?). I thought he was bad, and I got to stick with it during a busy time. This assumption, quite unfortunately, turned out to be false.Canucklehead wrote:TH, my thoughts on Blooper are that she has been posting just enough (both in terms of frequency and content) so that she seems involved but distracted, but without ever really saying everything. If you read through her posts, they're all a bunch of summaries, gestures towards other people's thoughts, banal statements, and not much input of her own. She never addressed my initial prodding of her/call out of her lack of posting (which was odd since many other people commented on the jokey/over the top language of the post, many thinking I was possibly cursed), yet as soon as her name comes up as a suspect, rather than just a low poster, she's instantly available to address llama's suspicions and modify her behaviour. That, coupled with her supremely blendy behaviour and her record of latching on to llama's Vomps suspicion early and sticking unquestioningly with it, seems vote worthy to me. Read her posts. They're a beautiful example of seeming involved without doing/saying anything that could possibly be controversial or draw an eye.
Second point: I summarize what people say for my own benefit as well as letting others that I'm trying to participate. By the time I get to respond, since I don't leave work until 5 most days, several different conversations have already passed where I could have responded more uniquely had I been around, but was not able to do so. I agree or disagree with what I see.
Third point: My response to llama was in response to you, as well, Canuck, about my inactivity. In fact, my last post was mostly addressed to your concerns about it. If I missed an earlier one, that was due to, well, my inactivity. I apologize if I came across as ignoring you (that totally wasn't my intention!)
True about the first two suspects, false about Made. I had mentioned at least on three occasions that while others have re-read him as possibly bad, I have said he is his "normal zany self" with a touch of busyness. Civ. Not bad.Canucklehead wrote:Just to add to my above Blooper comments, the only suspects she's stated all game are Vomps (zany player), Rico (new and seemingly super adaptable player), and Made (zany player). These are the absolute PERFECT suspects for a baddie to stick to, because they are so easily justifiable if they flip civ. They're easy votes, and they're easy to use as a shield of consistency, and they're easy to explain away if and when they flip civ.
Blooper hasn't had a single vote-related suspicion, or a single association-related suspicion, or a single suspicion based on anything other than zany-ness or newbie-ness. It's bizarre, for a player as smart as she is.
linki: oops. I thought you asked for the case on Blooper?? But maybe that was MM.....
In response to Dom's inquiry, I still suspect Rico, but I'm feeling bad about making him feel bad - he's playing an AWESOME game, and I don't want him to think it could only be attributed to outside help, but it's one major thing to go on. And now, at the risk of a No U, I'm feeling itchy about Canuck - she seems extremely keen to get me lynched, and partially doing so by falsifying my opinions. And if you want something besides "behavior" (since apparently that's looked down upon), she's also voted for three Civs in three Civ lynches. But if that garners no support, I'll likely go with my Rico suspicion.
I appreciate that I'm a "dangerous" baddie But I am not so in this game. I would be playing a horrid and sloppy baddie game in my opinion.
Linki @ SVS - I have seen no such defending except my own.

Re: [Day 4]: Film Directors.
Sure thing! It's like I said in an earlier post - while at first I chalked up your general know-how to be really careful thread-reading and lurking (I did that a lot when I was new and depended on that to understand the game), it started appearing too...for lack of a better word, knowledgeable to be coincidental. The first instance that made me think along these lines, rather than coincidence/reading, was the Canuck gender thing. You had no prodding in-thread to correct this mistake that I noticed, which just happened to catch my eye. I applaud good playing and participation; however, just to let you know WHY you're garnering suspicion, there have been a few instances of newbies getting a baddie role early in their mafia careers, and they've been caught because they seemed to "know too much" (AKA getting info from BTSC and not in-thread) and didn't hide it well. Hope that answers your question, but I'm happy to address whatever else is necessary.Ricochet wrote:RL busyness has interfered with me being able to look into many things, at least today.
The evil eye (I see it more as a stink eye, tbh) I gave Dom was about his curious reaction to BWT's resurrection. Kinda like Llama felt, too. It felt very open to interpretation. Now I'm getting heat for doing that. When Dom gave me the stink eye for something as accidental as messing up Canuck's gender and I needed BTSC to correct something like that, nobody cared (or even endorsed that). Nothing further to add.
Blooper, if you could specify what you found strange in my behaviour so far or what you find strange about my level of gameplay being so un-newbie-like, I'd like to hear it. All I know is that I'm doing my best to play this game at my best, first game or not. The fact that it's actually a cause for suspicion completely befuddles me.

Re: [Day 4]: Film Directors.
Hello, good people. I have caught up (I think) and the more I'm reading Rico, the worse he looks. The most recent offense is the strangeness with the evil eye reaction, and I see others also found it very out of place. I believe I have mentioned his strange behavior (mostly about knowing things that vets tend to know more than newbies) before, but I can go back and look more closely. As for the others on the Canuck list, I will really have to go back and look. Except Made. Made seems relatively normal zany still, and not baddie under-the-radar strange.
I want to eat pizza now. I will do this thing. I will hopefully return.
(this is the appropriate use of the evil eye) Lynch me, and you get rid of a(n albeit relatively inactive) Civ. But words are words.thellama73 wrote: Blooper - She's bad. Lynch her.
You are unfortunately too right about the first part - I have been more uninvolved in this game than in most of my past games due to RL issues, etc. In other games, I am quiet but at least involved in conversation to an extent and keep up as well as I can (uninvolved to me implies not responding to others and not even bothering to read and missing votes, so I wouldn't call myself that for the most part). Also, I like that I'm now a buildable children's plaything I do love Legos.Canucklehead wrote: Ninjago: I think she's been sort of non-involved in every game I've played with her, but her posts this game are not only infrequent (which seems usual) but also thin on substance or new insights (which seems like an attempt to blend in)

Re: [Night 3]: Film Directors.
RIP Vomps Sorry about that. Seemed like the right choice due to behavior and past playing history, but obviously that was wrong.
I apologize for being somewhat inactive rather than just quiet in this game so far - my workload has risen exponentially since I've been given this new, unexpected class at work (and applying for other jobs) and my mafia energies were largely directed towards GoC. Now that I'm dead in GoC and I'm starting to get the hang of work again *knock on wood*, I will hopefully be better. She says this as she attempts participation in Donner Party too...le sigh
As far as the films go, I've only seen four of them, so I'll vote the three I like the most out of them. And then hopefully catch up reading-wise.

Yikes, I thought I posted, but I got caught up with GoC and baking a cake, and here I am.
RIP MP Second time Vomps wiggles his way out.
I may be in the minority and hated for this, but I've seen two of the above films (Fantastic Mr. Fox and Moonrise Kingdom), and I just...I just did not enjoy them. At all. I'm thinking I didn't "get" Moonrise Kingdom because I'm not an Andersen buff (could also be my ex dumped me a few days after I saw it with him, which didn't give the good vibes association ), and Fantastic Mr. Fox annoyed me with its dialogue and pull away from the book. I'm even usually into avant-garde stuff, but alas. Nothing against those who like them, of course, but they weren't for me. A friend of mine who feels the same way tells me I would like Grand Budapest Hotel, so I'll vote for that one and cross my fingers, as third time's often a charm.

Re: [Day 2]: Film Directors.
I'mma go eat dinner soon, but some thoughts:
Rico is getting interesting. At first I chalked up his mafia know-how and coming back in to comment on himself to lurking in the thread and being careful. Still possible. But it's happening A LOT. A lot more than seems lucky/coincidental. And perhaps it's splitting hairs, but I too found it strange that he self-correct with Canuck's gender without prodding from the thread.
Re-read Made. He looks busy, as llama said, and while I agree with others that a less active Made = baddie Made (hell, I've been two for two with him!), this time, the majority of his posts are actually stating his busyness, while his baddie self just posts more sporadically. He'll need to say more to get my my eye off of him, but I'm not confident enough at all to vote.
I like consistency. I will likely vote Vomps again if nothing crazy pops up. But these are just my current thoughts. If anyone wants more, then by all means ask and I shall answer

Re: [Day 2]: Film Directors.
Yay no death! I also think sabie's prevented death was some sort of role-blocker rather than an elaborate baddie scheme of targeting its own members, just for simplicity's sake.
I agree SVS seems a bit more reaction-y to these accusations than I'm used to, but I can understand it, especially since the case is easily jumped upon. Her exchange with Rico this morning gave me pause - it looked like she was baiting him with the "that's what was said in chat" comments when he referred to people's talking about her in-thread, when I thought he made a legit comment. Could make her bad. Could make her a baddie hunter. Not feeling strongly, but I'll keep an eye out.
I'm still okay at this point voting Vomps due to behavior reasons re-hashed over and over again in this thread, and to see if there was any possibility of a save attempt in the last lynch. I look forward to seeing how today unfolds.

Re: [Day 1]: Film Directors.
Okay, did as much of a re-read as I could in the short amount of time I have allotted tonight to mafia (this will likely be my only post tonight, and will be relatively short, so sorry if I don't respond to anything til tomorrow or so).
From what I was able to glean, I can understand and get behind a Vomps vote (even though I do so enjoy reading him). From what I've played with him as well (not too much, but I have played a bit), I agree with the assertion that his being more on topic could equal baddie. Of course, last time I voted Vomps for Vompiness (or lack thereof) and had to leave for a while due to vacation shenanigans, I was lynched in Fight Club as a Civ
Didn't see the big deal with LC and the list (I figured it was just filling in time/doing something while the thread was quiet), or did I miss something about that argument? Dunno what happened with Dom and MP. I do agree as well with the comment about MP getting buddy-buddy with everyone's comments and politely addressing him, perhaps to make himself look good as a baddie, but then again, he does that when he's good, too. I think.
Other assertions...well, I will attempt to look at those later, or when asked. I am happy to address anything anyone asks, but it might take me a bit of time. And wow, despite my best efforts, I still wrote a novella. I will be at work stressing over a class curriculum I've never taught and haven't had time to plan in advance when the poll ends, so I'm gonna vote Vomps, whatever that makes me look like (although I'd prefer it if when I checked this thread again tomorrow, I wasn't dead Wishful thinking).

Re: [Day 0]: Film Directors.
Hello, sorry for the late check-in! I'll catch up a bit later, but I figured I'd at least vote.
So many choices Lots of directors that I've seen one, maybe two of their films, but not enough to call them my favorite. Call me uncultured or what you will with your opinions and thoughts and things of that sort, but I pretty consistently like Steven Spielberg films, so let's go with that.
