I think his attitude toward his new role reflecte genuine frustration at what he perceives to be an unhelpful ability. This is not something we should probe further into, as it already feels like we're toeing the line for infodumping. If this is just a clever ploy to emotionally manipulate us into not voting for him the it's vert crafty and I'll never trust sprit again. I don't think it is.
So you suggest we just ignore any thoughts we might entertain about him being bad because he dropped a menacing role hint. Am I reading you correctly? He made an info dump, so it's hands off?

Because role hints make me want to lynch people more, not less. Especially in light of this:

I don't think you are understanding me correctly. I feel good about sprit because of the attitude that I see in his posts. However, I don't think it's a subject that can be discussed much further because of the rules. I'm not saying to ignore him. I'm saying this is a tricky gray area and I don't want the tread to spiral into one big rules violation.

I also fail to see why this behavior would make him suspicious.

This reminds me of what you were saying about Wilgy, when people were suspecting him (namely, Daisy) because of his behavior, and you took his word when he floundered about throwing shit at me and others. It looks like silencing conversation, despite your reasoning above. And didn't you just say it could be a clever ploy? I mean, granted, sprit's reaction to it with laughter makes me think that, no, it's probably not, but...you just said it could be.

I don't have an argument for that. He has not been active in a thread with any known Evens at any point in this game. I don't have an argument against it either. I'm primarily voting for him because he's the only player on the poll who won't ge removed from the game if we lynch him today. colonialbob avoided discussing both lorab and wilgy when they were on the chopping block. He even pursued suspects (INH & Boomslang) based on their treatment of wilgy. This behavior stands out when looking back through his posts, and he's defended himself a bit already. But it's the most substantive thing I can pull out for discussion from his posts. It's never clear how he felt about wilgy (or lorab), but it is clear he didn't like the way certan people went after wilgy.

This I can agree with. He brushes off his non-votes for Wilgy with explanations like "he was already down" and whatnot. Twice he avoids Wilgy, at least. Maybe I'm missing a deeper mechanic, but that doesn't look good. I also think it's hella weird that, despite clearly acknowledging and posting about my townflip, he calls me a "strong town read" more than once, including a post about my not being Strex because I was killed by Strex N1. Maybe he's being funny, but it's really odd and looks like actual conjecture, especially when putting me in a list with others and why not to vote them.

Agreed 100%. I'm also very skeptical of the whole civ-to-mafia flip thing given that alignments are only revealed after second death. Why would flipping after first death make any sense to include as a mechanic in that case, especially with the already unusual length of this game?

But enough about conjectures. It's a difference of opinion, but I don't like Cbob calling this flip theory "reasonable." Scotty pulls good info on a cbob-Lorab connection as well.

SVS's response to spirit's defense feels like civ-on-civ perspective disagreement, too. There's too much passion to be mafia calculation.

Hmm. I think I read that response about the flips differently - I figured he was discussing that particular case with sprit, not the whole mechanic of the game - I don't think he's misunderstanding the mechanics. But I could be wrong. He won't be able to answer tonight, alas, because he has gone to the land of the hippies for the evening. I'm going by the standard I held in Cerberus, mostly - I don't think he would kill me Night 1, even with the two-life mechanic (although it would be more likely. Slightly.), nor would he be on board for a team doing so, and he was actively playing, so it's not like he would have "missed" a decision like that.

I'm going to catch up as much as I can, but I don't think I'm going to be able to get the deeper mechanics of speculation that this thread has put out. I've allowed myself to stray too far behind in this game this week with travel and apathy, and I don't think I'm going to get to a good, solid knowledge point, but I'll give it a shot. No spreadsheets for me, that's for sure.

I expressed frustration at Sloonei's frustration with the speed of the thread. I disagree with not bothering to vote because of the haiku mechanic. I say my usual "Day 1 sucks I'll vote a non-poster before a poster" spiel.

I comment on sig, without much conviction. I like Daisy's comment about INH and agree. I vote Jackofhearts for not posting in the GoC Day 1.

Jackofhearts does not like my vote for him Day 1. I respond with my explanation, essentially the same as my explanation from the time I voted.

Conclusions? Either someone doesn't like bewbs (and for that, they should be found and lynched heartily!), or someone didn't like my participation (content or quantity. I feel like I was more talkative and paying more attention during this game than I have in several past games (at least at the beginning). I'm not the greatest mafia player by any means, but I have good deduction when I'm paying attention. That's probably tooting my own horn too much, but hey, possibility. I'm thinking that whoever killed me has either played with me in games where I was decent (this is less likely, especially given the double-life mechanic), or hasn't played with me much at all.

This is where we come back to Epis early game discussion, who would kill Niju on Day one? It was Strex, she was civ, she was not a super obvious target. Assuming they had intertribe BTSC, which I think super likely based on the last post or so LC made, it could be someone on either tribe we are looking for as potentially the third Strex. Unless we think Pikachu was a Strex free zone.

I don't recall his decision making process last time Marmot and I were bad together; are he and Wilgy precision killers, they kill for a reason, or are they more random? I know Marmot has killed for lulz in the past. So not sure if a third member could be inferred from who they killed.

In Cerberus, they killed Niju, Jack and sig. Then they killed Sprit in Pikachu, right? And they DID kill DH twice. That is kind of weird. It makes me want to reread DH since the merge, since they were so desperate to kill DH they killed him twice, I would think if one of them had been in Pikachu, they might have killed him before the double kill.

I plan to reread DH since the merge, and then see who it makes me look towards. I have a name or two in mind. I also want to read Nijus interactions day i. When I asked her in Cerberus who she thinks may have killed her she said:

I have not been obsessive about it, but I’ve thought (and I think voiced - I say “think” because I’m tipsy and phone-posting so I’m not ISO’ing myself immediately) that it was weird, as I very rarely get NK’ed Night 1. Either someone was afraid of something I said (doubtful, but hey, maybe) or a team doesn’t know me? It is a different monster for sure with two lives.

In regards to the people who bugged me about JoH while I was silenced. I feel the worst about Scotty. Followed by Boomslanf and Marmot.

I've been thinking about life and the moral quandaries of the universe and I've hit a point where I'm no longer suspicious of Sloonbread. However, what makes you think that the silencer is a civilian role? Also when would a civilian opt to silence?

I'm also starting to think Bloops 2 may be bad.

wilgy already addressed this a few posts up and I think his explanation looks fine. He suspects you on the premise that you could be the silencer, but he does not have a suspicion that is tied to anything you've done or said in the thread.

Extremely dismissive. Wilgy provided no "explanation" - he simply changed from "Bloops might be bad" to "INTERROBANG!" Horseshit. This early dismissal already gave me the heebie-jeebies, and now it does even more so since it's farther in the past, lest we forget. I call him out again for dismissing Daisy's suspicions:

In regards to the people who bugged me about JoH while I was silenced. I feel the worst about Scotty. Followed by Boomslanf and Marmot.

I've been thinking about life and the moral quandaries of the universe and I've hit a point where I'm no longer suspicious of Sloonbread. However, what makes you think that the silencer is a civilian role? Also when would a civilian opt to silence?

I'm also starting to think Bloops 2 may be bad.

Until you were called on it. I get that you suspected me not on my posts, but on a vague suspicion of silencing. What I'm concerned about is how quickly you come to that conclusion, put me on a list, then back off immediately with an "interrobang" when asked about it. Like you were waiting to see if it would gain traction, but it didn't. That bothers me a lot. My one qualm with that suspicion is just HOW quickly you backed off - you didn't wait terribly long to let it simmer if you were actually doing this (like less than 20 minutes), so that's something in your favor, I suppose.

As for your question about what you would gain from a fake silencing (and this may have already been said), you gain the ability to come out swinging against your "silencer" like you did. There is no way for someone to defend against being accused of being a silencer in a completely closed setup, so you give out suspicion without direct repercussion.

When he does post content it seems to be coming from a civ mindset and he's attempting to make the thread more active.

What does everyone think of Kyle's vote? He avoided both wagons by going for Boomslang, which I could see mafia trying to do if they knew we were both civs to avoid suspicion.

I'm reading this thread, albeit slowly, as stuff has started to pick up before spring break/grading period ends (ughhhhhhh). I have no intention of digging into Pikachu thread, when I so thoroughly enjoyed the quiet of Cerberus.

I see many a vote on Wilgy. I suspected and voted Wilgy a while back, a lot because I thought his response with some whole silencer mess was floundery, so this is understandable and I will likely follow suit. I also didn't like Sloonei's easy acceptance of the explanation Wilgy gave. Actually, I'm still itchy from that interaction, too. Like I said, I'm still reading this thread (thankfully there are only 5 pages), and sorry but not reading Pikachu (I'll be happy to read specific things pointed out/quoted, but I ain't slogging through 66 pages), but what do people think of Sloonei? SVS was looking at him with some suspicion in Cerberus for various reasons (e.g., not reporting some things from his observer status in Pikachu, people's easy vote for him to do so, his quick assumption that we weren't lynching because of lack of votes, etc.). Both of them make me itch. I'll go ahead and aubergine Wilgy for now, but for Wilgy's sake, I will also read what others' explanations are for voting him.

Those are thoughts that happened. I kinda didn't expect my post to go there, but it did. So there.
