Re: Day 7 ~ 2015 Game of Champions

Am I relieved to get this over with? Am I sick of asking questions? Is this curse a lot more annoying than I thought it would be, since it's difficult to express ideas after a long day in the form of Jeopardy answers?

What is Blooper is voting for Wilgy, Alex?

Can I eat dinner now and lie back down?

Some old, some new. DH, I do have a bit of a bad feeling from your support out there, I'm sorry to say. Metalmarsh, a bit of a gut feel.
I think this post is wonderful. It makes me want to vote for DH or Draconus, I think LC is making it obvious here that DH's level of trust wasn't in sync with Bea's, Mac's, or my own. Also, I know for a fact that LC is smart enough to pick up on alignment's through having his own BTSC.

I stated it previous, Marmot is a dangerous thing to have around. There's no way to be sure of him, nor do I think that there ever will be. At least with lurker's, they can come around and prove their civvieness through vote patterns and the occasional opinionated post or two. I still won't vote for him though, he's my friend.

Also are we aware of the limitation on a RC'er in a game where Light is a civilian? I mean, unless the RC and UC are the same thing in this game...

Papryco, am I next to be Judged? I've always wanted to take a stroll through the judgement hall with you. It's so well lit and pretty.
Does this make sense to anyone? Has Wilgy put any effort forward prior to him taking heat today? Can you explain why this makes you want to vote for me, Wilgy? Would you consider Dom's list of suspects any more or less valid than LC's list? Do you have reason to want to try and paint your accusers as bad? Can we please get another 4 way tie going and include the people I mentioned before?
What would you say if I agreed with you about Wilgy? Is it okay if I'm also going off of Dom's list that's been re-posted several times, since he probably took the tracking deal, because he was extra mad at people voting him?

Can I apologize for repeating what's already been said in the thread, and then having to rephrase a thought as a question?

Still not caught up, because I'm sick and don't have the energy to read through all those pages, but what about MM's case was bogus and contrived? He admitted himself that he wasn't contributing at all, so those who picked up on it were certainly not making anything up. What exactly did I miss that moved people from thinking he was bad, to taking all their votes off him?
I thought it looked bogus and contrived because it was the kind of stuff people (including myself) always go after MM for, without much substance. The dude almost always plays a lax, jokey game, and is blatant about it, regardless of alignment. Yawn. Same old, same old suspicion with nothing new added that I saw, and it looked too easy until he claimed Indy.

This is shifty AF, ninja.
Not really. I voted for you in the last Day period I was able to, and I did defend my vote here. I don't have many posts, so I find it odd that you missed this. And your hyper-defensiveness this round doesn't make me feel any better about you. I do agree, however, that a lot of people are suspecting you, and are saying you're bad, and are putting you "next" on the list, but never really get to "next." Wonder why that is? Keeping healthy suspicion alive, perhaps? Bullshitting? A combination of both? Curious, indeed.

Huh, *interesting* (I can never use that word without thinking of InterestingGate with Epi a few games back :P ) fly-by suspicion of LC by Boomslang. I'm not inclined to vote simply because someone tells me to do so, unless I'm in a really silly mood. I'm not in one of those today, and there's not more evidence to back up said vote for me to, er, uh, vote. I'm eloquent today. It's the snow days; they're getting to my head.

Unlike people who keep saying they're gonna vote for Dom eventually, I'm gonna vote for Dom for reasons I already stated, coupled with what I see as even more pronounced behavior of what I found suspicious in the first place during this last phase. Woooooo just found out we're delayed 3 hours tomorrow! :omg: I can still sleep in!

Re: Night 3 ~ 2015 Game of Champions

I'm relatively caught up. I'm a bit sad that I don't have enough time/energy to analyze all of the different factors being discussed and that could be used as evidence against people (positions a la Recruitment, closed set up role reveals, etc. in addition to vote analysis and tone reads), but I'll use what I can process while multitasking. BUT FIRST. Some responses, I suppose.

Votes are a lot more spread out this round, which I suppose is good? Makes me less wary. During my read (and really, thinking about the no-lynch situation), I keep flip-flopping on JJJ. On the one hand, he appears as a frustrated civ who's half-given up. At the same time, he kept popping in to make points and (despite what he said upon his return) to defend himself. I'm torn because I don't like to let myself be swindled by tone, but at the same time, the tone's been consistent, and I was doubtful about that in particular yesterday. Ugh. Ugh, I say.

Well, I gotta make a decision, and I do like to make things *interesting*, especially with changeable votes being a factor. Lorab's fallen off the radar more than last phase, so let's give her a vote and see what happens when these votes get a bit closer.
This is the only other relevant post. She flips the script on Day 3.5. It appears hers was the 4th of 5 votes for LoRab, but I don't know how the tally looked at this point. I know it was a chaotic mess at this point, I don't know if I still had the tally lead. That's important information and I'll need anyone else to clarify before I can analyze fairly.

Generally I still think ninja is a viable candidate to be LoRab's team mate.
I'm not anyone's teammate. I feel so freaking lost in this game, and have felt so since Day 0, and I'd say I have no one to discuss things with except people in-thread, but I get so far behind that I don't even have time to do that. But I suppose that's irrelevant? No, not irrelevant - more like, repetitive. Yes. I was the 4th voter for Lorab, as has been confirmed, and had no intention of changing my vote (I was actually leaving at the time to go do RL shenanigans, as I said). Changed my mind on you. Your defenses rang true (as I said above, your tone did so), and have done so as far as my last read goes, too. I still hate typing that kind of stuff out, because I could still be bamboozled and I hate hate hate being wrong, but there it is. Then, this:

The underlined could have been a set up for a change of vote later on. She voted for JJJ the previous day when it was between the two. She said she was going back and forth on JJJ. Possibly a set up for later as well. In addition, this was before all the tie shit started happening. I'm not even sure how many votes JJJ had at that point, but he had at least 5. Does anyone remember if he had more votes at different stages of the vote?

In any case, Nijuu is definitely not a strong civ read as one would expect after that vote.

DH, what is your point?
It could've been a set up, but it wasn't. I might change a vote if I'm in the thread and playing around and talking it out, but I left. I am, admittedly, pleased to see that a bit of chaos did result, although I'm sad I missed it in real time. Makes for real fun analysis seeing who changed his/her votes and when. And "in any case," I'm not a strong civ read? Bah! There are two important things you need to know about me. One: I'm never a strong civ read, because I'm too quiet and people call me a "lurker." Two: The one time I was called a "strong civ," I was brutally nightkilled. I keep to myself now. I appreciate the suspicion, actually, and it makes me feel good and loved and safe.

Okay, I'm done being silly :P As for suspicion, after reading, I'm looking at Dom for several reasons. One, he has started to take on the defensive, flustered tone he gets when he's cornered as a baddie (using multiple question marks, using NO U over and over, etc.), but also seems to be trying to cover it with composedness because it's being pointed out. Two, he's at the bottom of HBB's list, and HBB went after him like crazy. Wouldn't it be funny if HBB hid behind Dom to prove a point? (Okay, I guess I wasn't done being silly.) It's really the reactions Dom gives to HBB's accusations that get my attention (they've been quoted by others, and this post is getting long, so I won't re-quote things unless requested). His votes in the last two lynches don't really help matters - early vote for JJJ Day 3, fifth vote (although early, as the 13th voter, but perhaps he thought it was sealing the deal?) for JJJ Day 3.5.

Hmm. I think I'll vote there early. People are throwing his name around (as well as others), so let's see where their votes go. It's a teacher workday tomorrow, and I'm pretty sure I'll be a nervous wreck tomorrow evening due to starting a new semester Wednesday, so I'll be in a terrible state of mind for mafia. I'll check back, though, to see what happens, and try to maintain some semblance of keeping up.

I always think to myself, hey, it's the weekend! I'll have loads of time to read and catch up and post original thoughts!

And then two things happen: I find myself in perpetual catch-up hell, where I was diligently caught up the last phase, then checked it yesterday and found like 15 pages added. Now there's about four more added to that. Secondly, I always underestimate how long baking and prepping for said baking will take me, leaving me less time to read through the thread.

So, I'm about to skim and then make a vote before I leave for shenanigans with sangria and cookies and other delicious things, and I apologize for what may be perceived as lazy playing, but I'm overwhelmed by this game and have been since the beginning, and reading has been a chore. Re: Day 3.0 ~ 2015 Game of Champions

My internet is being wonky as hell, which is a bit ironic, given the content of this post and what’s been discussed about “emotional appeals.” I’m writing this on freaking Notepad while checking the thread on my phone and trying to fix whatever’s wrong with my connection (this means I’m skimming the last few pages because I really just want to post, vote, and eat). Also I’m hungry and, therefore, more irritated than usual with technology. Apologies if this comes off in my writing.

So, some comments about what I’m reading.

I think I’ve seen a couple of comments about how the kills were “weird” and that perhaps a deal was made with hosts to kill those particular people, or that they were modkilled? I will echo the sentiment of preposterousness on this line of thinking. But I don’t think people who said it are bad for saying it. I just wanted to express my incredulity on having this idea at all.

I’m able to look back and understand what’s being said about LoRab a bit better now (I’ve been wondering about the suspicion on her for a while, but am just now getting to it). Very gut-related on BR’s part (although she said she feels slightly better after LoRab’s comments on HB’s buddying up to her), and then tone-based and BR-trust based on Epi’s part, then someone else (this switching back-and-forth from computer to phone is annoying, so some of you may become “someone” unspecific, sorry) commented that she got very defensive at first, then went all IDGAF with the swirly smileys, and has since dropped the hyper-defensiveness. So, it’s tone based, mostly. Possibility. What gets me is BR’s comment that LoRab (who I haven’t played with much, as far as I can remember) does an excellent job of evading suspicion and votes, and is doing just that right now - gets talked about, and then the discussion gets derailed or pulled away to another more noticeable candidate. I’ll come back to this.

llama’s always hard for me to read, but it’s kinda funny to me that Golden jumped on llama for jumping on people for painting Fuzz as SuperCiv and immediately called him bad for it. This comment of llama’s doesn’t make me think he’s bad; rather, I also agree with it, at least in some cases. I (and other even better, more talkative SuperCivs) were NK’ed by baddies in Watchmen; we were put at the top of people’s damned Rainbow Lists early on, and the mafia picked us off one by one. Now, granted, this was a rather inexperienced and disorganized (from what I hear) mafia team, so perhaps it’s only that sort of combination that causes that to happen, but it’s not unheard of, and is one of the reasons why I also don’t like these rainbow lists, at least early on in the game (mostly I just…gahhh how the hell do you even make a prediction of so many people so early?! My eyes…) Anyway, I’m not inclined to think llama’s bad because of saying that. Maybe other reasons that I have yet to look more deeply into, but not that.

I’m finding JJJ to be floundering a bit under pressure. Of course, I said this about sig, and I was so very wrong, but I don’t think I’ve seen this side of JJJ, which makes me think (I’ll go back to that). I think LC’s made good points about him, and JJJ’s especial emotional reaction to two things pings me greatly: a) the accusation of his going after llama for being cursed (which he first backtracked and said he “was absolutely not sure it was llama” when he sure seemed it from his post) and b) the “accusation” that he was using an emotional defense to gain sympathy by saying he’d be gone from the thread (overreaction, for reasons others have said, that what JJJ wasn’t the kind of emotional appeal that JJJ is “morally against,” but rather a way to pull suspicion off of him subtly. Funny, too, that the reaction he’s having to this accusation is a rather emotional appeal). But I’m torn two ways with this. His reactions stand out to me so strongly that I can’t ignore them, but like I said before, I’ve also never seen this before from him. When I’ve played in games with his being bad, he’s rather calm and collected the whole time, which gives me pause, because I feel like I’m going after the easy candidate again like I have the last two lynches.

Aaaaaand since I've been writing this and checking back and forth, the votes have...changed. Quite drastically. Hmm. But the two highest vote-getters (JJJ and LoRab) are people I'm willing to vote, so...Hmm. UGH DAMN YOU PEOPLE I REQUIRE SUSTENANCE decisions decisions...Guess I'll make it interesting, then. I do so enjoy people's reactions when I'm able to get them, and it seems JJJ not as easy a vote as I thought. Let's see what happens.

Re: Day 2~ 2015 Game of Champions

Brain...melting...20 page catch up...Apologies if I'm not as detailed as usual. I know I won't be as detailed as I would like. It's my own damned fault for seeing 46 pages in the thread yesterday after already being behind, and deciding to bake a cake instead. Cake is pretty delicious, by the way.

So, here's what's stood out to me in my read (and these things may be from days ago, so apologies if you're sick of seeing them). I'm gonna try not to repeat what's been said, because I saw a lot of that in my catch up, and I don't really want to add to it (e.g., Rico lynch, zebra being bad, etc.).

Interaction between JJJ and Long Con:
I'm usually quite wary of Long Con, but I'm liking what he's saying in this game, which scares me a bit. While JJJ kinda freaked out about LC's assertion that a baddie team in a Champions game would pull a self-curse Day 1, I thought it was a sound assumption (provided the hosts allow for self-team-targeting). I put nothing past a mafia team here. But I'm also liking JJJ's analysis of zebra's interactions with people (very helpful with catching up, in their raw state, so thank you!). But then again, a good point was made that he became helpful upon receiving heat? Hmm. I'd like to look at that more closely before I jump into a vote.

Matt:
Errrr...so what he's saying is super weird, jumping in all of a sudden without any relevance to the conversation in the thread, to jump on Draconus for "faking" a curse? What are you doing.

MacDougall:
Something isn't sitting right with me. His tone looks different from Star Wars, where he was good and I felt like he was civ the whole game. But I can't quite put my finger on it. I think it started with the interaction/semi-thread towards MM for throwing suspicion on him early on - it looked very defensive. And he looked to be using his "superpower" of finding baddies on the first day (he was right in Star Wars, granted), but it looked forced. More observation needed, and now that the thread has slowed down considerably, I may be able to accomplish this. But my vote won't go there today, as it's a tenuous suspicion at the moment. Also, I agree with his vote, so...there's that.

sig:
In my read-throughs, I like to finish my own reading and gather suspicion before checking the poll, so upon finishing this, I was pleased to see several votes for him and the reasoning behind them. Even reading sig's posts beforehand, he looks floundery as hell, flip-flopping on llama and Lorab and backtracking on what he's said when it's pointed out. This is what I've experienced as baddie behavior from him almost every time (if not every time) he's been bad in a game I've played: naming and throwing light suspicion on lots of suspects, then backtracking when it's convenient (I'd write this more eloquently, but I'm running out of Eloquence Steam and need to eat/take a break from the screen). Judging by my own tone read, I'm okay with voting this way today.

I know there's a ton more to talk about, but as I say in every large game I play, I can only handle a few things/people in my head at a time, and I'm surprised I was able to retain all that I did above. Here's hoping I keep up a little better in the future of this game. I also look forward to being able to complete more vote analysis rather than tone-reading, as one can take a tone all one wants, but can only hide behind votes for so long.

Re: Night 1~ 2015 Game of Champions

I am behind. Surprise! :sigh:

I plan to catch up tonight after my dinner guests have left. For now, so I don't miss the poll, I'll go ahead and vote for the bear. Fuzzy and ferocious!

Re: [Night 0] 2015 Game of Champions

That...was a miserable read. It was like watching a horrible episode of a horribly drawn cartoon that may have been amusing/understandable in the right state of mind, but I just wanted to fast forward through it. And I did. I've tabbed things I want to mention, and really the only things that I managed to follow.

They are not really worth reading.
There's loads of useful shit been posted. This has been a very productive game so far.
I disagree with this. If there has been a lot of productive, useful stuff posted, one has to wade through a lot of nonsense to get through it, and frankly, it's tiresome. I like to analyze people's posts, especially when I do have the time to do so like I will for the next week or so without much work to bring home, but when I come back after a day and there's literally about 15 pages of just STUFF to glean "useful" bits from, I don't call that productive on the whole. I'll come back to this.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? :suspish:

Ricochet
Your behavior tells me that one of two things is true:

Either you don't care enough to further the civvie cause or you have reason to deter the civvie cause. In either case, a vote for you at this stage is my best option.
I agree with this so hard. Rico, I love ya, but the game you're pulling is not civilian, whether or not you're a civ. It's distracting to a point I've never experienced here, and I don't see a civ reason for it, unless there's some insane role power I don't know about. But I can't imagine a ridiculous post-number power would be civilian. Which brings me to someone mentioning the possibility of your being indy, and to this I agree with:
DharmaHelper wrote:Also, since when is "Indy" synonymous with "Better let this person win the game"
I have been indy in the last two games I've played, and it was fantastic since I straight up didn't have to worry about a civilian or baddie cause - I did whatever I could to keep my own win conditions. Indies can be dangerous as fuck (especially near the end when it really counts) if you let them slide.

So, let me sum up my thoughts: I am so distracted by the storm of what I see as filler posts that I'm having serious trouble gleaning anything from anyone else. I already have enough trouble keeping up in the first days of huge games like this and tend to only keep track of a few people at a time. I don't like to jump on what looks easy, especially on Day 1, but for me, this just stands out too much (and I've told myself not to ignore what stands out and screams at me in mafia anymore), and in the words of zebra,
a2thezebra wrote:I think he wants us to think that he wants to be lynched so he can cruise his baddieness all the way to endgame. Fuck that.
So, for probably the first or second time ever (and what the hell, votes are changeable), I'll vote early, and for Rico.

Also, apologies if this post comes off snarky - I'm rather exhausted from the transition back to work, which requires me to get up before sunrise when I'd been going to bed in the wee hours for two beautiful vacation weeks. One day, I'll get a job that starts at a normal hour. A girl can dream, right? :P

Re: [Night 0] 2015 Game of Champions

Checking in to this scandalous game before I let the pages get out of control :shifty:

Oh, who am I kidding? They'll get out of control despite my efforts. But damn, I'm glad this started around the end of the asinine semester schedule of our public schools here - less lesson planning due to exams, more mafia playing! For like a week or so. Yes.

Voting Finn McMissile because a) the name amuses me most and b) my life (and freaking cool role that I never got to use) was cut tragically short on Day 1 of that game, and I want to sulk.
