Re: [Day 8]: Film Directors.

I have to say, the situation is slightly cynical for me regarding what leads I'm left with right now. My main suspect just got protected on D7 and killed on N7. Spacedaisy, who I was starting to feel a bit less neutral about, since she was neither completely inactive nor made efforts to catch-up, was just replaced (or asked for it officially, given her RL busyness and situation). I'll scan MM's posts for possible connections and also take another look at the DF-LC thing. There might be something to it, after all.

What do the others think about the possible alignments of the NK'd players? Worst case scenario, if they were all civs, we are now 11 players left with 5 baddies among us. :scared: And it's even more difficult, with 3 relatively fresh replacements (from which AP2.0 and Vomps2.0 might just resume playing like the original AP and Vomps lol).

Canuck's disapproval of MM being hunted, linked with her push for TH being lynched for retroactive reasons (while MM actively "pushed TH's buttons"), doesn't put her in a good light, I'll agree, but I feel I need to look more into it. It would be too obvious defending of MM, given how subtle the baddies have acted so far. That said, she and Llama were, I think, the only players to genuinely buy MM's game as being civ.

What does everyone think about Dom, overall?

Re: [Night 7]: Film Directors.

Bit redundant answering something about PTA in a poll, but no contest there.

The fact that we had to wait not two-three hours, not four (end of D7), but a whole extra day until Mongoose was available to unlock this makes it completely confusing for me to assess what MM was trying to pull. He wasn't very optimistic about his chances before the lockdown - Bass wanted to vote for him, but forgot to; even so, he was two votes away from an insurmountable tally. Chaos, as DF puts it, would have meant to he was expecting the lockdown to end before the poll. In which case, the Host / mods may have inadvertedly foiled his plan.

I'm not sure for how long it lasts, I was under the impression it lasts until the day is over? The role desccription doesn't say. If so that would be why it wasn't unlocked maybe.
Hard to tell from the previous one, either, since that was both closer to the poll's end and possibly tampered by the mod-players here, with Spacedaisy opening it on the last minutes.

Re: [Day 7]: Film Directors.

I'm slightly unsettled as well by the Llama kill subject recurrence, but not necessarily because of DF right now - although, I have to say, reading back his posts, he has had the mighty misfortune to have doubted / questioned in some way all the kills, failed or otherwise, that the Bros have chosen (Sabie, BWT, Llama) - but because I can't grasp the level of subtlelty with which we're supposed to interpret Llama's kill. Its timing was no doubt ripe: his row with several members after Vomps & Blooper's lynches (LC, Dom, Made 1.0 from what I can recall), his intentions to lynch LC after D6 (so LC remained in constant conflict) and then his kill. After which we have several levels of interpretation:

L0 - LC is a Bro and killed (with his team, I mean) Llama to silence him
L1 - LC is not a Bro (i.e. Hack or civ), but the Bros seized the moment and killed Llama to make it look like LC is involved [I believe this is the reasonable level on which most, if not all, agree upon i.e. that it's a frame]
L2 - LC was not involved in any way with Llama's kill, but DF is trying to push for it
L3 - LC is trying to frame DF as pushing it

and the Inception-like Level 4 of subtleness would be that the baddies are a completely different faction and they're trying to frame the both of them in some way for this.

Where (on what level, even) does everyone sit on this, more exactly?

I have to focus on studying during the next few hours, but I promise to return with enough time to reflect more on this, revisit MM and ... well, are there any other suspicions right now?...with enough time ahead of the vote.

Re: [Day 7]: Film Directors.

So here are my game thoughts at the moment, in reply to Roxy's enquiry (and somewhat Made's as well); they're not too different from what I've stated so far, but I also feel there are a couple of players I should re-read almost entirely in order to form a better judgement.

AP and Made are starting over. I was not keen at any point to make assumptions about Sabie's and Lizzy's alignments, given how inactive they were, but I also wasn't very inclined to believe they could be inactive baddies (or that their teammates would be ok with them being that). But again, with Sabie completely inactive and Lizzy having been just pissed at Llama for jumping on Vomps on D1, there's almost no preliminary info to work with.

Making my way up from inactives to actives, I think the shorter the players' list is getting without any success in tracking baddies, the more we have to reconsider the issue of at least a couple of them lying low. I'm spotting serious activity from Spacedaisy elsewhere, which makes me curious about why she doesn't feel engaged at all here. So either a bored civ or someone who could actively want to go undetected (with her teammates approving of that, if so) - no important gameplay to analyse, no connections to be made. But at this point I can't seriously make a judgement on this. I'm seeing a better DF these days, after his catching-up contributions, during the first days, were very lukewarm. One player I should re-read is Bass, to see if I missed anything besides his relentless case on MM.

I would seriously have BR high up my suspects list, for reasons I have stated, but she received amnesty today, so there's nothing I can pursue right now. I don't fully know how to interpret what her protector would like to signal with this. A couple of other players I should re-read are Dom and LC, given how little interactions I had with them (and often not great ones, strictly in terms of discussion level). Of the two, I'm more wary of Dom: off the radar since MP debacle, shallow voting since (Vomps, TH), jumping on Llama without making it clear if that's his true intent or just mocking him, simply not the most trustworthy gameplay for me. LC's intent with Llama was more serious, after which Llama also had serious intent to vote for LC and then Llama got killed. But I tend to also think, much like Made, that it's a set up, just like FZ.'s kill proved to be for the lynching Vomps.

If there's one part of TH's lynch that I would build from, it would be regarding Canuck's and BR's retroactives votes (or jumps) on him: suspicions stemming from D1, yet inconsistent throughout the game (on-off, as they've put it themselves) and then a convenient jump back on him on D6; granted, both feel great remorse in having done so (BR also chose to vote for MM, instead), nevertheless they have undeniably influenced the vote on him and it could potentially signal tactic more than error. But again, BR is off the hook today and I have no other read on Canuck besides this.

My read on Roxy's stops around after the Vomps lynch, which absolved her of many suspicions in the eyes of many including me. This is why I was wary of those who almost lynched her the following day, on retroactive suspicions (her behaviour in her exchange with Llama and such) - out of which TH is now dead civ, BR swiftly changed her mind without much reasoning and MM seems still intent on Roxy being bad. As for myself, at this point, I think Roxy is more trustworthy than not. Also, call me completely hypnotized, in case SVS will ever flip or be revealed as bad, but I'm seeing her playing as a civ.

That does leave MM as a strong candidate, with his consistently active and provoking game that could have implications both ways. I'll re-read to see how strongly would I feel voting for him, but my current feelings are these: I voted with uncertainty for Made and he turned out a civ; I refused to vote for TH because of my uncertainty and he turned out a civ; I could vote for MM with less uncertainty about how he could flip than I had with the other two combined.

Oh boy, almost 4pm here and I have done almost nothing today. Thanks Mafia!

BR is off the poll for today, I noticed.

linki: Pretty much what MM said. I'd just add BWT built his case on TH's voting record, to which people either subscribed (i.e. trusted BWT enough to vote for TH), either TH's later reactions made people even more wary and a couple of people brought back their game-long suspicions on him and influenced the debate as well.

Re: [Day 6]: Film Directors.

I have to decide now because sleep. This is quite a hard poll for me, because it makes me choose between joining one of the current trains or being consistent with my suspicions, the problem being that I still don't feel strongly about the former and the latter are nowhere on the radar for everyone else right now.

I don't think I'll vote TH, because I only have pinges from today's discussions and they don't even relate much to the original charges on him, but only to him reacting more erratic to the whole situation. As for the original charges, I understand how BWT built his case, but I can't fully endorse TH standing out from others based on his votes alone. His case-making was more mildly brought up, yet I see more consistency and longevity in his case on Made than others. Re: MM, I'm not reading anything out of ordinary from his D6 posts; as for D5, he was indeed on many players' "re-read" lists, but it's hard to say how many would have converted those to votes: he had received none by the time of the lockdown, Made switch withstanding or not. He's active and butt-heading with many, receiving, I'd say, a normal dose of attention or suspicions for it afterwards.

As for sticking to my suspicion, I gave another name in my post about TH and that was BR. Don't like much of her game at all and my gut tells me that, now that Sabie and Lizzy have been replaced with players we can expect to be active, she might be a strong low poster baddie candidate, not saying much into discussion, not putting much reasons into votes, not eager to give explanations after. I'd like to validate such a suspicion with a vote today and maybe draw more opinions on it the following days.

Re: [Day 6]: Film Directors.

Interesting development, so far. I re-read TH the other night, as well as how a few other players related to him. I was exhausted from that and my thoughts were scattered, so I called it a night. I'm still not sure of TH, overall. Call me completely fooled, in case he'll flip bad, but I see both good and odd things to his game and, more importantly, he's been consistent in showing both sides, rather than appearing to shift or slip/crack. I don't think I've heard from others if he is usually a cunning case-maker as a baddie or not. So it leaves me undecided on which way to lean.

Anyway, here is, in brief, my thoughts:

Not incriminating:

a. his not-good voting record; it doesn't stand out that much from other not-good voting records - for instance, poor Canuck, by comparison, is having a realistically horrible record, but I don't see much jumping on her (and nor should it happen, simply because of that!). I actually approve his idea that we've come to a point where hunting down just by judging the votes isn't conclusive enough - I don't agree, of course, with his idea that we should call off on looking at votes completely and do something else, until we hook a baddie. But I do think it'll have to be a combination of a messy voting pattern and fishy gameplay, from now on: for instance, I am wary of Dom's votes, but I can't lock a read on him right now; I am wary of BR's votes and her gameplay; by contrast, TH looks bad with his BWT D1.1 vote and his Roxy D4 vote (especially because of unsubstantiated reasoning)... but otherwise, not truly, definitely damning.

b. his case making. Again, he's where I'll eat my words, if he flips bad, but his statement on Made was more convincing that any statement Llama has built this entire game. Plus, contrary to what others think, I found out that his suspicions on Made have been consistent since D2, at least. Judging by that, he again doesn't stand out from others, like BWT's hunch on me, Bass on MM, and others.

What pinges:

his grasp on theories about extra-role powers (particularly for BWT, ever since he rezzed the second time in fact, but also lately on Emmerich not being vanilla) is inconsistent with all his serious, observant case making that I just said I kinda commend; it's either a bit extreme or panicky. Also on the panic side, I have my slight doubts about him throwing in the towel and saying he's been overwhelmed by this whole game. Not really the attitude I'd see a civ who still wants to find a way to win.

I guess I'll have to decide if the pinges are enough to lean on. Other than him, I'd personally focus on BR, who is not warming me up at all, but I don't see much reaction to it happening.

Also, searching (read: ctrl+f) for "TH" in other people's posts is near impossible, because "th" shows up almost anywhere

Re: [Day 6]: Film Directors.

I want to apologise as well for being offline for more than a day now. It also was an almost sleepless night, but at least I finished writing my project - something I had to do with little experience or knowledge - and sending it,. Fortunately, the workshop is actually about doing a proper such project (they just need me to decide on a topic and send a first draft), so hopefully this will all be a trial&error thing.

RIP Llama. Don't fully understand if the Lucas part is for story flavour or not, but I assume the former.

Not sure I fully understand how BWT's role could help him find out info about certain players, either. Doesn't he simply adopt a power from the roles still active, without finding out who is using it?

Thanks for your input, BTW, btw (nice anagramming, there). If voting record is the main criteria, then I would agree TH is worth re-reading (and will do that myself) and that his remark on voting record being pointless till the point of nailing a baddie pinged me, too. However, if the voting record is the main criteria, then I also think BR and Dom are worth re-reading. What to make, however, off the case TH's built on Made? Yesterday many felt it was compelling. Does a baddie TH usually make a more purposefully convincing hunt than a civvie TH?

Ah, missed that one. If it'll be an arthouse del Toro (not dumb hero/kaiju stuff), I'mafraid to hype it. We'll see.

Have to go back to writing and dinner and such, but while BWT is still here:

As for Made, I'm not seeing it. I just think he's being really, really, REALLY strange. I still need time to properly re-read MM too.

Votes Rico
Can I contest any of this or should I just abstain and take it in, each day, given that you have infinite civ cred? :(

SD, if you don't have a secret power in this matter (and I'm not saying you should say if you do or not), I don't think it was you who did anything, maybe the locking period just expired.

Ditto. Voting Made, since MM and Dom are getting no votes today apparently, also to see if the locking meant anything.

Re: [Day 5]: Film Directors.

Deadline will be 7:25pm here and I don't think I need to say how better that is compared to 5am deadlines, but I can see what a tricky vote day it might turn out to be for everybody else. I'll have to keep mixing writing on my research project and writing & voting here, although with as much emphasis on the former as possible.

I'm seeing more into Made's gameplay through TH's write-up, because personally up until his [Made's] jump on Llama, I couldn't really read or understand him much: lax first days, the goof up of voting FZ. out of the blue and such. Checking back the quotes TH brought up, he read FZ. as genuine on D1, next came the confusing vote, then finally a redaction on that, being as confused as anyone else about it. I don't know if that fully mixes with him being part of the team that orchestrated FZ.'s lynch and capped the Vomps havoc (he missed D2's [MP vs Vomp] vote and he picked up on the suspicion(s) on Vomp only after), but it's an intriguing angle.

Then his cases (or jumps) on SVS and Llama. Again, I'll be forever at a disadvantage in this game at interpreting players' gameplay based on past games, the way Made implied reading SVS here, but right now I'm far from reading SVS as a baddie, compared to others. As for Llama, I've already said I'm not even decided if either LC, Made or Dom truly intend to make a call on him bad (well, LC probably does the most at this point and Made probably the least).

Also, I read TH's pinge of Made as more genuine then his case on Roxy.

I'll have no problem deciding who to vote for later on.

Sorry if there were already replies to this, but what does everyone think of Dom as of late ie. with his jump on Llama, his dubious voting and all?

Dom jumped on Llama after D4, but then said he's just messing about his gameplay. (As opposed to LC who actively thinks Llama may be bad; Made is somewhere in the middle between the two). He was consistent in a conflict with MP and in wanting (and ultimately contributing to) MP's lynch, but afterwards fell off everyone's radar. He's as low as BR on my Vomp lynchers accountability chart. Not sure how good I feel about this. Since everyone's speaking in terms of top three's, I think he'd be somewhere up there right now.

Turnip Head wrote:I don't suspect Roxy for defending Vomp, Rico. Hell I defended Vomps myself. SVS said that Roxy doesn't bother defending players when she's bad, and I disagree with that notion.

I remember Roxy's response to MM, but I still feel like we're missing a more complete reaction from her. Frankly I expected her to get on my case a bit for putting the final vote on her, or even ask me WHY I voted for her, but we didn't get much. Not even a "rip blooper but DAMN I'm lucky to be alive". It just made me think that her reaction was reserved for BTSC conversations.

As for why I don't think voting records matter yet... We haven't caught a baddie yet, so we can't argue that any votes were cast to save teammates. People tried to apply this logic on Day 2 and 3 and it resulted in the lynching of two civs. Analyzing voting records at this point will lead to all sorts of wrong conclusions and already has. We need to lynch a baddie before voting records will mean anything. If there's a certain vote that piques your interest or feels out of place, I'm all ears, but voting records in general just don't mean much yet.
OK, I read the first part wrong.

Re: [Day 5]: Film Directors.

Catching up but just a bit. Fed up of writing for today (MM, I explained my absence these past two-three days before going absent, every time.)

BR either just wrote two contradictory statements ("Roxy is my best guess", then "I'm at a loss of who I want to vote this day") or she actually backed away from suspecting Roxy. If she did mean the latter in earnest, I can't include her anymore in Roxy's suspecters. Nevertheless, I still feel slightly wary of her. As I've said, her voting record and reasonings, up to Roxy, especially the one on Vomps, didn't put her in a good light.

MM still thinks Roxy is pretty bad, but still not many reasons offered since I asked for some.

DF, I did note MM has a bad record so far on civvie lynches, but I did not mean it as a strong thing on which to build cases, especially given that other records are worse than his right now (there's even a 4-0 one).

The most vocal right now of those who voted Roxy is TH. Contrary to BR, he said he doesn't see the Llama-Roxy dispute as bad-civ, but civ-civ. And frankly so do I, even if, on the spot, Roxy's reactions were odd. But TH still suspects Roxy for defending Vomps on his lynch day, which I frankly do not. As I've said, I've found a few players who did poor in joining in on the Vomps lynch. By contrast, Roxy's reasons for why lynching Vomps is bad idea still echo in my mind for how well-argued they were and how clear her stance, thus, was in not taking part in all that (somehow, I'm developing a distinction in my head between "not joining a lynch" and "defending the lynchee", but maybe that's all coming from my Donner traum- err experience).

Also, he wants to know why Roxy is not saying anything about her "near-lynch". She was actually asked that by MM and answered shortly, also mentioning she has an idea on what happened (but she won't state it too clearly in the thread). TH also says he has his own idea. I also have my own idea and if it's true, then Roxy wasn't saved and Blooper was unfortunately pushed to her lynch by the extra-polling abilities her visible voters might have had (or used). It's a very tricky result in which to try to scoop up the baddies, tbh.

Can you clarify, TH, why you think vote analysis is pointless until we actually baddie? I know we've had very bad results from doing that so far (at least in thinking in terms of "saves" and such), nevertheless, why give up on it altogether?

Also, Day fending should be included in our Mafia terminology. I like the sound of it, especially describing what a baddie would try to do on every Day.

Also, I have to finish the workshop project I mentioned a while ago by the end of this week, so my presence will continue to be infrequent. In fact, I may consider taking today (February 10) completely off Mafia, to try to do as much work as possible. But in case not, I'll contribute as much as I can, when I can.

Re: [Day 5]: Film Directors.

Actually I'm in slight agreement with Eisenstein's picks, because both contributed to basically what should have been a Roxy lynch and I'd still like to hear more justification on why they still think Roxy is a hot, potential topic after D3.
