Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - GAME OVER

You're right, perhaps I forgot some details, but I still retain the impression that your actual move was more Leroy Jenkins like then "hey, why don't we settle on a whole different pattern, so that we're on the safe side". It would have been odd for me not to agree with such a suggestion, as long as there was some mutual agreement between players.

I'll try harder next time, Glorfindel. Sorry about the emotions it might have caused you, but basically, until the alignment flips happened I treated yours as mafia, and afterwards, I simply tried to flip ... uhm your flip on all sides (this is re: you being potential seemer, most of all), because I found it rather too conflicting. Anything else I said post-death was probably just banter (I remember one or two times).

I wouldn't have claimed dead, until being the last eligible one to do it - although I started getting worried that the last irony in store for me in this game would be to flip Final Five. Still, I must have ended, overall, one of the very few examples of a human non-claimer, which is still pretty ironic.

No, it was in your role PM.

One thing I did with the laws was try and create things that would lead to interesting but balanced gameplay. The Cylon Amnesty Act is a great example - it led people on a witch hunt against cylons even though a majority of cylons were town aligned. SVS and G-Man got in early burning their amnesties to look good. People were so paranoid about how the law could benefit the baddies that, in my opinion, the 'burn all amnesties' discussion and tactic that dominated the thread was far more damaging for the town then just letting it play out - but this is exactly the paranoia that I wanted to get out there.

My personal favourite law that never got enacted was the "G-Man meme Act". Black Rock actually had the opportunity to pass this on the final night and I had the sense it would probably be the last game day, so I was so hoping she would pass it and force G-Man to defend himself to the end in memes.
Told you it'll be a witch hunt...

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - GAME OVER

Ok, here are some hot takes. I'll start off with the narcissistic ones, but it'll get better afterwards:

1) To anyone who may have had issues with me this game (just in case), I quote the wiki: "Romo Lampkin is a highly capable yet ethically questionable lawyer". Remove ethically, because I didn't find myself to have been truly out of line, keep questionable and you basically get the gist.

2) Not always (especially early on), but I used the syntagm "for what it's worth" in every defense I was required to post.

3) I got punished with carry-overs of my previous task(s) or, at one point, insanification, for not fulfilling the required quota (which happened quite a lot, to my shame).

4) I had to defend, in order:
DFaraday (mafia) [successful)
DrumBeats (civilian) [unsuccessful)
Silverwolf and DrumBeats (civilians) [Silverwolf successful, DrumBeats unsuccessful, was insanified for it]
Vompatti (wombat) [successful]
Sig (civilian) [successful]
INH (civilian) [unsuccessful]
Beats and INH (civilians) [unsuccessful]
Beats and INH and Polo (civilians) [unsuccessful, but then Golden finally let me off the hook]
Beats (civilians) [unsuccessful]
JJJ (Admiral) [successful]
Sig (civilian) [unsuccessful]

5) So, despite this role being (I can only assume) crafted to be a very risky / dubious town one, I had to defend a grand total of one (1) scumbag throughout this entire game. I also had to defend DrumBeats a record four times.

6) At the risk of pedantry, I take small issue with the wording in my role: "post at least 5 posts that are clearly in defenceof that person". In defence, to me, implies to actually defend that player from an accusation or at the very least have context within the thread to post my alternative / positive input on the player, not to simply wrote something / anything good. From my angle, given that more than often I've received players with very little shade on them or highly infrequently brought up by others, I consider that crafting "say-good-about" posts out of thin air was depressingly hard to achieve.

7) Despite being so undeserved, this win finally brought me up to Nevinera's 7, albeit it's 7 out of 15 for me, instead of 7 out of 10. This is only my second civilian win ever (out of 6), on the other hand I still rock the full game format (6-2, I'm not counting Championship as Full, but Special).

8) Matt would have been guaranteed to post in this game for all eternity...

9) Two of three Presidents died in quick succession. Black Rock was one nightkill away from actually winning, too. SVS basically contributed directly to both her and bea losing, tsk tsk.

Yeah, I was kidding, it'll only get worse.

10) Please to answer: nutella, did you silence/insanify anyone?

11) Please to answer: DFaraday / Dex, did you ever determine a lynch?

12) Please to answer: Spacedaisy, who did you search for?

13) Please to answer: GMan (messenger again ), who did you message?

14) Please to answer: SVS, which were your failed night targets?

15) Please to answer: LoRab, who did you target (until quitting)?

16) Please to answer: Scotty, who did you search for or who did you removed from the poll?

17) Please to answer: Long Con, did you control anyone on N3 throught D5?

18) Please to answer: Metalmarsh89, did you stop nightkill 3 or 5?

19) Please to answer: Glorfindel, did you use any of your abilities?

20) Please to answer: bea, did you grab any goodies? (Speaking of which, didn't the contest died out after just a few phases?)

21) Please to answer: Silverwolf / INH, did you gain a check on anyone?

22) As far as I can tell, BR's vote count never got as far as 3 in the whole game.

23) Please to answer: Epignosis, who did you send messages to?

24) Please to answer: Nerolunar, who did you incarcerate? Golden, did any of his targets gain double vote afterwards?

25) Please to answer: Polo, who did you protect?

26) Please to answer: Sokoth, who did you make immune from votes on them counting?

27) Please to answer: Golden, did sig gain any nightkill protection percentage?

28) Please to answer: Golden, where did zebra/rabbit's vote actually end up?

29) Please to answer: DrumBeats, who did you search for?

10, because I'm not going back to readjust the numbering) Still can't say I'm 100% on board with the interpretation of Boomer's status. Cally's kill triggered her to dump the human cause? Maybe so, but she was still programmed to do sabotage-y things towards the fleet, not to mention a murder attempt on the Admiral. To our blindfolded perception, all this could have warranted an anti-town perception of her.

11) Technically, Jaydama never missed a single salute.

12) On very shallow inspection, I get the vibe that town had too many one-time survival and lynch stop elements, compared to which both the converted and potential baddies were not especially powered (apart for a lot of messaging, one screw-with-the-lynch use and silencing/insanifying). Given how late Cally was converted, town vigi'ing on town - in no accidental manner (say a vigi choosing wrong) - still makes no sense to me personally. But I think that's about it.

I didn't accomplish them anyway. Ugly cocktail indeed. 19 reads from the Admiral, ten posts max from the President.

Assuming you're talking about Wilgy, I wouldn't oppose that lynch. I've promoted it for a while now. I don't care at all about which Cylon he might be though, because there's no way around that being about lore -- I hate lore and want to set it on fire. Whether I'd vote for Wilgy or G-Man would mostly depend on who's participating in each wagon, I think.

I'd welcome any sign of an original number still being Cavil-aligned upon being lynched (from most likely to tad doubtful: Doral, Conoy, Six), before assuming Cavil might be worthy of a relynch, last-to-die or otherwise. One or two phases, depending on results.

I'd say that if there's any one player in this game who the baddies could most comfortably tunnel for days and days, it's Glorfindel. I don't struggle at all with WIFOM here.
Yes, tunnel is tunnel, but being that aggressive? G-Man, to me, almost reached the ceiling of reasonable rebuttal, at times, simply by replying to any post by Glorfindel in a (paraphrasing) "are we supposed to buy this carp he's telling us" manner or such. This seems to me mafia-stappling-his-own-feet in the process of trying to nail down a town.
Ricochet wrote:In general, at least the way you've shapen the extracts, he does look to have (re)adjusted to the main lynches that happened to generate baddies, but I'm still phased by the fact that his interactions with a major bad flip (SVS) and a major town flip (Glor - or at least so it seems) have left me either not-so-alarmed or incredulous.
I can understand this. The thing I've had to get past is the S~V~S interaction. I do think though that there's substance to this case against him, not just from my most recent review but from other people pursuing his lynch. When I read the doubts you present, I see more "Rico talking himself out of a reasonable lynch" than "Rico resisting an unreasonable lynch".[/quote]

Yes, moving past one interaction is what I'm trying to find out, albeit not having had the time and resources to do it myself. You've answered the call, but as to "other people pursuing his lynch", I haven't heard back. I'm not talking myself out of anything. Despite not ranking him in my top suspects, I could be persuaded to go with the hypothetical momentum of his lynch (at least in theory, he seems destined to receive Epig's vote, Matt if he follows Epig as he said, maybe you), which is already significant compared to other potential wagons.

Do you think going traditional-style after G-Man is a better choice today than testing out the status of an outed Cylon, who is short on odds of being a remaining non-Cavil aligned Cylon (since him being Six was disputed by several and there is at least ambiguity as to what Conoy might turn out to be)?

Cool, thanks. I can agree with a few points looking unfavorable for him. His nutella vibe, if indeed crafted after you made your big case and some other voices were heard (Scotty had the earliest of ping, I think, others I can't remember), I agree it no longer takes him off a potential buss lynch. What do you think of DB town reading nutella from the get go (to be fair he town read someone else too early, maybe sig?) and also voting for Rico directly after Rico votes for SVS on Day one?

I'll have to stop being lazy and actually read the exchanges from Day One and see why Drum actually voted for Rico. Derp.

Also Rico...like wtf man lol. This isn't the first game I've said "Crazy Theory # (Random Number)" so I really don't know what you're on about, my friend.
I was very clear.

You, instead, keep stalling for time. Coolio. What do you have to hide, unless you're bad?
Your link had nothing to do with Drumbeats. :puppy:

And stalling for time? You're weirding me out dude do you expect me to come up with 977 random theories right now? Cuz that ain't gonna happen.

But yeah, speak to me about what you think about Drumbeats and all the information I've presented.
Well, I happened to reach some conclusion about Beats being suspicious based on actual interactions with a baddie, not so much him opening the game by posting the letter "S", so yeah, I might not be as interested in your "information".

I'm interested in your theories. You skipped 977 of them, according to your numbering. You're a man of theories, that much is clear, so I don't see what's keeping you from posting them.

Vote John Cavil
I think that's a horrible reason to vote, and it assumes people will be more active than they have been. I am not that confident.
He said he would since the previous Night. Yes, I can't see player necessarily more determined during the next cycles than they are right now, but the part about having reached no common lynch option happens to be true, right now.

No, I'm very serious. Withholding information is suspicious. Why are you withholding 977 theories, given that you've jumped from one theory number to another, leaving a gap of 977 theories. Clearly suspicious skipping.

Also, your latest theory (no number given to this one, ey? :smoky: :smoky: :smoky: :smoky: :smoky:) is just about the definition of scrapping the barrel.

I hope Epignosis and Polo vote you, so you can follow them.

I feel like you're being antagonistic for no reason, so I'm going to leave you be.

@Epi - Maybe. I still think it's suss of all the people in the game, DB gives ol' nutella a minor town look right from the get go. Perhaps I'll ISO him again and see where his votes were the days SVS, nutella, Dex, and Daisy were lynched (I haven't even looked there yet, for all I know he voted to be rid of all four of them).
I feel you're being evasive for very good reason, so I'm not.

Post the other 977 theories.

sig wrote:So Say we all.

I want to lynch Wilgy today please. I don't think there are that many good cylons and if we say Epi is one of them then I doubt Wilgy is also.

So mafia team
SVS = Cavil
nutella = Simon O'Neill
Leoben Conoy
Aaron Doral
Caprica Six

That would be a team of five
With both number eights being good/independent.
and D'Anna Biers being independent.

This is a game for 29 people, so I think a starter team of 5 with two to three of the Final 5 being mafia could be accurate in theory we might have one other cylon being a civ or perhaps an independent/

For the F5 there is no guarantee any could be mafia, assuming the F5 didn't die then they wouldn't have come back as mafia.
So I think it is very unlikely that Wilgy and Epi are both civs at this point Epi is either hard core bussing or is a civ, I'm leaning civ right now I think we need to lynch Wilgy today.

I also think OA is mafia and should be lynched at some point, but I'd rather see Wilgy go first.
I'm seeing three Cylon names as Cavil-aligned and roughly just two suspects named. Care to be more specific in shaping your Cavil team projection and make the numbers to match?

Hey Matt, why are you withholding 977 theories from the thread? Do you seriously want me to vote you for such shady content you keep to yourself (or to your Cavil faction's benefit, one can only assume)? Be a good town and post them, by the end of this phase.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - Day 12

So say we all.
But this tempo has resulted in the death of two baddies. With this way of going about things I am surprised they didn't take out a universal civ read. I don't know what people thought of Black Rock, but there are certainly players who have contributed more to the civ cause that they did not target.
Didn't know you wanted me dead so badly, Tighnero. :noble:

...then again, if you're bad, you would have acted upon it...

Tighnero is cleared! :srsnod:

To the Admiral:

John Cavil - Sister Ruth of Uzbekistan
Aaron Doral, I'd say he's likely to flip Cavil-aligned, but no frakin' clue where he's hiding. Maybe Wilgy, maybe someone else.
Entertaining the thought that Conoy is Cavil-aligned (as he initially was), given that Boomer ended up town-aligne (as she initially was). So... DrWilgy? I don't see him putting much of a fight right now, so yeah, his post-Cylonclaim claim of innocence could have been blufferino.
Cavil Theory Advisor - Matt. I mean, he skipped over 977 theories, didn't he? What if all those involve Cavil's faction? :nicenod:

More than four suspects? Idk, but I'd still nominate DrumBeats or ObscureAllure under this umbrella.

As for G-Man, apart from Epignosis' call on him BS-ing something, I'd ask people to restate their cases, because the ISO with Cavil did not prove illuminating for me, personally.

Just like Spacedaisy made us "figure something" by simply voting herself and being done with it, right? You're assuming Cavil is supposed to entertain us with posts, but he is free to do so only if he finds motive and, when that happens, most certainly his posts will be crafted to not actually reveal anything helpful.

I still caution the idea of lynching Cavil, if there are teammates left in the game - It would make it easy for them to blend under the "lynch Cavil" umbrella - and as long as suspicious players (at least from my POV) say "let's go for it", rather than pointing at connections remaining. "If we don't test it now we are dumb"? Hmpf.
