But to be fair the winner still has probably Poland or Senegal first up, and at that point it’s Brazil that haven’t looked that great, and you’re in the semis.

And I’m not convinced that France or Argentina are truly that threatening either.

But the idea of a quarter of the draw being Switzerland, Sweden, Colombia and Belgium is compelling.

I only got 1 point today but it was a great point!

Boy watching that Sweden game was fun. I always had faith in them and they were outplaying Mexico by a mile even before the goals came in.

I really hope Iceland beat Nigeria, especially if it’s by a couple. A 5 goal difference would be a challenge to turn around.

You’re right, Croatia weren’t so good as Argentina were awful, but 3-0 wins are the time for hyperbole. I think the only place they could meet Brazil is in the final anyway.

Seriously though, Croatia would take Brazil if they met up somewhere in this tournament

That was entertaining. I mean, I keep saying Argentina was lucky to qualify, I just didn’t realise they were quite that bad.

But the goals were all great to watch, even if two of them were Argentina being awful.

I note that if Spain and Portugal both have the same result in their last group round, the tie breaker is number of cards. That's an interesting one.

My read of this morning's game was that Russia played bland middling football and Egypt vaccilated between being great and terrible.

Egypt were the better team for most of the match to my eye, and I doubt the third goal happens if it wasn't for the daft own goal, because that felt like a product of the second goal taking the wind out of their sails.
