In fact, she's the first comparison I've used where she's played twice and the performances look completely different.
Russell and Amanda also both played twice and both lost at final tribal for the same reasons twice. In Debbie's first season, I thought she had a good shot of winning if she got to the end (for a while I felt she had the winners edit). This season, not at all.

Re: Final Tribal Council [END]
Just this week, on her second season, Debbie had the most ridiculous meltdown ever. She isn't coming across the same way this season that she did in her first.S~V~S wrote:Is Debbie bad? Opt said thank god no one is Debbie?

Debbie 1.0 (the one I compared you too) was motherly, endearing and sharp. I liked her so much, so I'm really disappointed with her this season.

Re: Final Tribal Council [END]
LoRab - LoRab played a sly social game, making the right bonds to make good moves, but also pushing the vote in the direction she wanted to when she could. It took a final 4 fire challenge to take her out. While she played a game that was entirely deserving of the win, it's hard to be certain about whether the jury would have rewarded it with a win. LoRab is Cydney Gillon.
Elohcin - Elohcin played the sweet and loyal game, but she was still willing to make sly moves behind the scenes. Her unassuming manner allowed her to get far further than she probably should have been allowed to get. If her moves had manoeuvred her into the majority, there's every chance she could have ended up winning. Instead, moves fell apart on her at key times, and it led to her falling short. Elohcin is T-Bird Cooper.
Golden - from the viewers perspective (and even the jury's perspective), it appeared people couldn't understand why people weren't getting me out. Inside the game, I relied heavily on social bonds and hoped loyalty would get me to the end, but in the end my closest allies realised they would probably lose to me if they let me get to the end. I am David Wright.
S~V~S - as always, S~V~S came at the game with a different perspective on life than everyone else. She played a loyal game towards those she trusted, but anyone else was fair game and she was willing to open the bomb doors and take people out with calculated precision. In the end, S~V~S lost to a lack of flexibility on a day where a key ally knew an idol play would stop things going the way she wanted. S~V~S is Debbie Wanner (Kaoh Rong version).

Re: Final Tribal Council [END]
I was talking to my niece about the game and was thinking I would try to put a real life Survivor player against each player who played in this game, but it will take a bit of work.
Here's a start
Opt_Outside. She set herself up as a loyal ally to many, and had the ability to get people onside even after she hurt their allies. She took out the one ally she felt she had to take out in order to win, but otherwise played a remarkably loyal game. No-one ever truly came after her or wanted her out. Opt_Outside is Earl Cole.
Quin. He made big moves, and he was willing to antagonise people to make them. He stayed loyal, but primarily because he believed he could beat everyone. His game will be disputed among the Survivor Mafia fandom for eons, asking whether or not he was robbed. Quin is, quite legitimately, Russell Hantz.
Sorsha. She was at her social best, connecting with the right people at the right times and not letting the other people left at the end realise just how socially well connected she was. She was probably a couple of unlucky breaks away from winning (if Quin had gone down at 5 and she had a clear shot at opt at 4, I think she was odds on favourite). She wasn't able to answer as many questions at final tribal council and lost some votes there. Sorsha is Amanda Kimmel.

An idol does only save you if you use it. Really, after DH was voted off, the only person who I had any kind of leverage or trust with was Speed. We were planning on trying to get SVS and Quin to flip on Golden Day 8. Probably wouldn't have worked, but would have been the only way I could get to the end.
The thing that really fucked me over in this game was my role. Everyone who I poisoned immediately had a vendetta against me for the entire game. I tried not telling anyone except DH about my role, except naturally, he told Golden. If not for that, I think I could've stuck around a couple more TC's.

Re: Final Tribal Council [END]
Sick to my stomach is how I felt on that day. In voting you out I felt like I was going to both lose my chance of winning and lose a lot of respect from you. But I was also very afraid that you were against me already. Basically I feel that decision, no matter which way I went, was driven by fear.S~V~S wrote:And Golden, never trusting you again
I was determined to own it however. Lorab offered me the chance to vote elsewhere and have plausible deniability, but I didn't want to be in any way dishonest about the fact that I knew you were going to go. As much as it was possible to do in that situation, I tried to stab you in the front not the back.
I reached out to you because that's the way I wanted it to be. It still bums me out that it didn't turn out that way.

Hosting is damn hard, and it certainly sucks massive amounts of time. But you did absolutely amazingly. Seriously, like you are going to get theme and hosting nominations for the sockys this year no doubt. It was an amazing, living the real thing experience. I cannot state that enough.
I'm sure DF will agree, however, that we've built enough shelters to last a while

Deals I made in the game:

Final three with Opt and DH at Atamai, final five with LoRab and speedchuck
Final three with Opt and sorsha in the post-swap tribe
Then I gave LoRab a final three deal to slot in to DH's place come merge when he was gone
That was all the deals I made... it's a few, but I heard a lot more that I had apparently made.

Yes, I made that final four deal (and that was my intended real deal - with LoRab fifth), but in my mind that was just combining the deals I'd already made.Opt_Outside wrote:Oh interesting- did svs and quin not propose the final four to you that they did to me? Another thing that somehow did the rounds was that I wanted you to win. I was like - hell no, I want ME to win. I just thought you knew you were my ride or die!
I spent the last few days trying to figure out your motivation for voting me... was it that you thought I'd vote you out, or that you thought you'd lose to me, or that you thought I'd sway the jury for you. I never quite got the answer I wanted to that.

Never ask to be voted for...
Never ask people to be straight with you...
They'll assume you are trying to con them into voting for you. Long Con you, even.
It just made me think you were playing me and you were going to invalidate the votes if you found out they were coming your way.

Re: Final Tribal Council [END]
Congrats Opt! You did so well. I'm really pleased you won.
That's no knock against Quin or Sorsha at all. I really thought Quin was going to win that jury vote, so I wanted to push Opt into gear early.
PS Quin - I genuinely had your back entirely and intended to betray LoRab not you (unless she won at final four, then you would have been gone), but I don't blame you at all for not trusting me and voting me out. Not only that, you had me completely fooled (although I should've paid more attention to how relaxed you were when I kept saying 'I'm not sure if Opt will be up for taking you to final three instead of LoRab'... the signs were there).
I really thought that Opt made the wrong choice taking me out... I felt like I was your ticket to win Opt! You were going to beat me, I swear. And if Quin hadn't found that idol at 5 and opt hadn't won the challenge I think Eloh/LoRab/Sorsha would have been the final three... but you guys found your own way anyway and that was equally impressive.
I didn't get to see much of sorsha's game, so it's a shame there wasn't enough time for her to answer my question.

Re: Final Tribal Council
Hey opt.
You talked at the end about the jury respecting loyalty but you didn't show any, or lorab and I wouldn't be sitting on the jury right now. My question for you is about loyalty and comes in two parts - first, of loyalty is what the jury respects why did you vote out someone who had to betray a lot of people to get to the end? And why should I vote for you if you believe the jury should be respecting loyalty?
To be honest, you're the least likely of the final three to get my vote right now, so I need to hear a really good answer from you to be persuaded that I should vote for you.

Hey sorsha
Congrats on making it to the end. I'm pleased for you! My plan was to take you out but you outsmarted me. Tell me a plan that you had in this game that is uniquely yours that I don't know anything about, that helped you get to the end.

Hi quin
Congrats on getting to the end. I'm surprised they let you get there, I'll be honest I expected all three votes to come your way, and I think people were foolish not to vote you out. I'll be honest, I thought you made a big mistake voting me out and that you would need my vote at 4 (which you would have had) so I'm proud of you.
Having said that, there's one big problem with voting you to win. For you, finding idols was way to easy. Why should I vote for someone who essentially had a free path to final four?
