Work busyness has shifted to the beginning of May due to unforeseen circumstances. Rather than chance it, I think that the right thing to do is cancel this game and let another host get sign-ups started as soon as possible for a game of a more agreeable setup. As much as I hate to give up on the opportunity to host, I like to give hosting my all, and work poses a real threat to compromising that.

Sorry all. It just wasn’t in the (role) cards.

LOL, easier said than done. The concept seems to be a turn-off to some folks, which I can understand and respect. I doubt it has anything to do with a lack in trust of me as a host after that game which shall not be named. Now, if all the other games were filling up but mine, then I’d pout a little. If the market wills this game into existence, so be it. If not, so be it.

Unfortunately, my minimum needed is 15. At the moment, it looks like that may not happen. The second half of May is going to get busy for me at work, so if this doesn’t fill up in another two weeks, I will likely have to cancel the game altogether.

Sometimes the timing just doesn’t work out, but we’ll see what happens.

I believe that there are only so many variations of an info-gathering cop that it is unnecessary to tell you which variations are in the game.

Town will get information about their information as the game progresses and more players die. I don’t see how this game is the nothingburger you’re making it out to be.

Is the Even and Odd group thing a turn-off?

I've seen and played other games with a similar premise, there are ways to design it where figuring out cop checks is the point of the game but I don't think this specific design gets there
Well I think it’s the point of the game; I just tried to add an extra level of difficulty to it. Apparently I made it pointless instead.

I don’t understand your assertion that this game is “basically mountainous.” It’s not mountainous. There are no vanilla roles at all. You have to break through the fog of ‘what kind of cop am I?’ in order to solve the game.

I split the roster into odd-nights and even-nights in order to prevent everyone from checking the same person Night 1 and using that to break the game. I had also considered using a null result if more than one player checks the same person at night. Perhaps I should do that as well/instead.

ROLES:
All civvie roles in this game will be one variation or another of a cop. Civvie players will not know what kind of cop role they are. As such, they will also not know how reliable their night check results are. As the game progresses, civvie players may be able to ascertain what kind of cop role they are based on how their night check results match up with role reveals. Day poll and night kill flips will only reveal civvie players to be a Good Cop. The specific kind of cop that they were shall remain a secret until the end of the game.

The list of civvie cops will be split in half at the beginning of the game. One half of the civvie cops may request alignment checks on odd-numbered nights. The other half may request alignment checks on even-numbered nights. To request an alignment check on their assigned night, players must submit their check request to the host by the time listed in the Gameplay section below.

The number of mafia roles will be determined by the number of players who sign up. The mafia team members will each have either a role power or a passive ability. When a member of the mafia is eliminated through the day poll, they will be revealed as a Bad Cop. No power information will be revealed at that time, but the power held by an eliminated mafia team member will be removed from the game along with that player.


Gameplay
1. This game includes both an uninformed majority and an informed minority.
2. Days are 48 hours long.
3. Nights are 24 hours long.
4. Phases will end between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. EST for this game. Any earlier is a challenge for me with getting the kids to bed.
5. Posting at night is prohibited. The thread will be locked at night.
6. Since the thread will be locked at night, all night power role and night kill PMs are due to the host no later than 7:00 p.m. EST. This will help your host prepare role check responses in advance, so information can be sent out as soon as the day phase begins. This will also help your host prepare post flavor.
7. Only those players who have BTSC may communicate with each other outside of the game thread but ONLY in designated BTSC threads or Discord chat. For everyone else, no game-related discussion is permitted outside of the game thread.
8. Votes in the poll are the only votes that count. It's helpful but not mandatory that you declare your vote in the thread in a way that stands out to the host.
9. All votes are changeable all the way up to the deadline.
10. A tied day poll will result in no death. Votes matter. There will be no coin flips to determine poll results.
11. There is no hammer vote element in this game.
12. Dead is dead; you don't get to come back from that. Dead players will have their BTSC rights removed.
13. Roles will be revealed upon death.
14. All role reveals will provide accurate alignment information.
15. Additional gameplay elements will be added/revealed on an as-needed basis.
16. Individual role powers must always be submitted by the individual player holding the role. Teammates (civvie, baddie, and indy) may not submit a teammate's individual role power on their behalf.
17. Unless otherwise specified in communication from the host, my personal philosophy is that individual players and factions may choose to abstain from using personal and/or factional power actions during the course of a game.


Rules
1) Respect your fellow players, your host, and your Facilitator.
1a) Don't be an asshat.
1b) Don't get butthurt.
2) If you feel like another player is out of line or making/taking things personal/ly, contact the Facilitator, ???.
3) No BTSC regarding the game outside of the game thread(s). Players are told in their rolecard if they have BTSC. If you don't have it, don't engage in it. Violating this rule will result in a modkill.
4) No editing or deleting posts.
5) Self-voting is prohibited.
6) Double-targeting of any kind is prohibited.
7) Sharing your alignment check information and your assigned alignment check night are permitted.
8) Off-topic posts should be in OT Green.
9) Dead players are to post in Dead Red.
10) Non-Players should post in Non-Player Blue.
11) This is the host's color. Do not post in this color.
12) Participation is polite to everyone involved. If I feel you may not be paying attention to the game, I will reach out to you. Replacements and modkills may be employed if necessary. If you sign up, please play. If you can't play, request replacement.
13) Additional rules will be added/revealed on an as-needed basis.
