Disney is going to purchase 21st Century Fox's film division (TV entertainment division too). This is a huge consolidation in the industry and would give Disney almost 40% of the market share for the US and Canada. This will bring the X-Men, Alien, and Predator film series under Disney's control. Fox also had distribution deals with the Deadpool and Avatar film series.

The other big play here is that Disney would scoop up all of Fox's TV content (X-File, Simpsons, Family Guy), which they can use as leverage when they roll out their own streaming service to compete against Netflix.

This is huge but will it be allowed? I assume there has to be antitrust hearings because Disney would dwarf all the other major studios.
