Re: 2016 Game of Champions - Beach [Night 2]

So this marks the second time a CFD is run on me when I leave for awhile. Sigh.

Yeah.
Would you like to display your research to the class?

I also want to do a hard reread of Epi if we get the other thread back. I found him to be an unexpected kill since it would have been fairly easy to drum suspicion on him. When I made the post I made about how he should not be ruled out as bussing Mac, it was becasue I was having a hard time doing that myself. I could totally see Mac coming into his chat (especially if there is only one big bad team, it's easier to bus someone) saying he could not play, and to go for the cred. It is something I was able to see him and Epi pulling off. More than one person agreed with me iirc, even though they, like me, were reading Epi as civ. Were I on that team, I might have said, let's let SVS drum up suspish on Epi, lynch him, then lynch her for lynching him.

So my thought is that Epi must have had one or more of Macs teammates in his sights which would be why they killed him. So I want to read back on him.

Does anyone remember his post Mac suspects?
I have found that mafia who leave good players alive in the hopes that town will do their dirty work for them get burned by that decision the majority of the time. The truly optimal move is to just off them. Kill motivation can be a good method of scumhunting but this early on, likely to be too WIFOM to go off of.

As for a GTH, everyone is bad in my eyes until they flip otherwise :smoky:

Re: 2016 Game of Champions - Beach

Not sure why people think my meta comment had to do with Mac when it was in response to the suggestion of finding out who the sock puppets were so they could be meta read. Nor was it saying that we shouldn't be using meta, just that we shouldn't devote too much of our resources on just that one tool, especially when the sock puppets if anti-town would likely aim to not give their real identity away, giving too wide a pool for meta analysis to be viable.

@juliets : Why would I want to research meta from a second hand perspective as a player who doesn't put much stock into meta? Would be a waste of my time.

As for those looking into my own meta, you should find that I don't shy away from mentioning my teammates as mafia. I have heavily bussed my teammates from early phases in all the games I was mafia.

You would agree that it was successful in this instance though, yes?
Since Mac flipped mafia then yes. You didn't see me defend Mac did you? That was due to me recognizing it as a tool those people felt like using and not being familiar enough with Mac, I had no basis to agree or disagree with their assessments on his meta.
I didn't see you mention Mac at all, and I didn't see him mention you. Given the amount of discussion around him, that alone has me worried.
Why would I talk about a case based on meta, when I don't have familiarity with said persons meta? I only mention those that stand out to me personally and respond sometimes to general mafia discussion, nothing Mac said pinged me enough to talk about.

Re: 2016 Game of Champions - Beach

The only suspect of mine from D1 in here is Made, though I can't remember what exactly pinged me. Probably something similar to Made's post in here about speculating whose getting lynched in the other thread when it is irrelevant to who gets lynched here.

As for my meta comments, it was in regards to Golden talking about figuring out who had the sock puppet roles. I prefer to focus on who is scummy from a general standpoint as meta analysis has more potential flaws, due to IRL factors, someone wanting to try something new, a stretch of bad games affecting posting behavior, etc. I have seen a lot of players get lynched/killed for meta reads that didn't pan out.
