The jailkeeper/strongman interaction is often debated, so I would ask the hosts about that when the time comes Golden. I believe most of the time, if a jailkeeper targets the strongman, then that strongman cannot kill. However, if the jailkeeper targets the strongman's kill target, then the kill goes through.

Strongmen typically can penetrate protections (doctor, jailkeeper, and bulletproof), but not a non-jailkeep-related roleblock and not a commuter.

I think I've only seen this role in a game once ever, so my experience is limited. I think that if I got that role in a setup that might have a cop, I would put added effort into appearing as overtly town as I possibly can to discourage a peek being wasted on me. If I have reason to believe there is not a cop then I might be a bit more strategic -- perhaps making "mistakes" or "slips" deliberately to see who tries to capitalize (to paint myself as the sort of low-hanging fruit token mislynch option that mafia teams need and pursue).

On the day of the reveal I would just be a fountain of posts, knowing that all of the other townies would be mechanically required to trust every word I say and that it'd probably be my last day alive.

I've long been a big proponent of 7:2/4:1/11:2 (role madness and V++/V+/mountainous). I do think ratios closer than 7:2 can work, but they call for very precise balancing roles that I honestly think are just usually not present in setups in my experience.

We used to use QT on RYM quite a bit. I think we switched to chatzy just because it's easier to talk in real time, but you're right that QT is better for keeping tabs on the full length of discussion. As a mafia teamer I'd be okay with QT.

I think private threads are the best; they're just hard to figure out technically.

I'll also state that any setup with a cop w/ n0 check would probably be a different story. That is a major balance swing.

I think the biggest balance issue with the original matrix was the 13 vs. 4 ratio. Removing the extra mafia kills helps, but I'm still not sure that has been adequately addressed. I understand 17 players allows them to equalize each game, and that including a rogue role would be an unfair challenge to whoever gets it in the effort to advance to the finals.

I think town needs more strength. Not a ton more, but something.

If I'm MM in the end there, I use my vig shot. I'd also target a clear scum read (regardless of post count). I think dire scenarios like that call for gambles, and that's what he did.

He wasn't far off either. He decided to shoot one of the two biggest controlling influences over the thread; he just picked the wrong one. The game could have turned completely had he shot MP.

My biggest regret is that I couldn't play in the game myself. I hated watching the competitive energy and ego of this game without the ability to insert my JJJ ass right into the madness.

I'll also say that I don't think this original Matrix12 is balanced very well (at least not setup F as we played in). A 13 vs. 4 ratio is already difficult to work with, and giving the mafia team an extra kill on top of that is too much. Town had a decent arsenal of powers to combat that, but not enough. Thankfully they've tweaked the matrix at MU and it ought to be a bit better now that the tournament games have started.

That's not to take anything away from this mafia team, who clearly deserved to win.

I feel like I finally came into my own this game. It was really difficult, but I finally played a game where I felt like I largely avoided major missteps as mafia, and could more faithfully replicate my town meta than usual.

I definitely am very proud of this win. It may be the sweetest one I've ever had.

There should be no doubt that you were a deserving part of the conversation for who should represent The Syndicate, and if Golden ever encounters a need for replacement his game slot will be in good hands.

Special thanks as well to Epignosis, Matt, and Scotty for stepping up as replacements when this game was moving at a furious pace.

Initially I elected to continue the game because of the presence of a town power role, but I have changed my mind. A sound point was made that even with that power role in play, the game can only be tied at best (2-2) for town entering the next day phase. This does not constitute true control over a lynch, which means the mafia team has already met its win condition. I apologize for the tease, townies. This was a rather complex scenario.

I started with the poll tally as it appeared (a tie) and flipped a coin. The coin called for a Frog lynch. I then double-checked the votes, and since only votes cast both in the thread and in the poll are counted, a Frog lynch was verified anyway without a tie. Votes cast in the thread but not the poll do not count. Votes cast in the poll but not the thread do not count.

I should have stated when the day phase started that with 11 players alive, the hammer vote is the 6th.
