Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 0]
He's oozing with sincerity, there's emotion in his dialogue with Jack that I don't think would be there if he was bad, and his self-imposed post cap is something he could easily milk if he drew a scum role. Instead he seems to be struggling against it. Not to mention the alignment of his thoughts with mine in more than one place.MacDougall wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2018 5:18 pmInteresting. Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 0]
The Day 0 polls are usually just a way for people to check in. Sometimes they can have some sort of secret influence on the game. That is probably the case for this poll, so I'd say it's worth voting, even if no one is sure what we're voting for.

I uh got my start playing on RYM about 7 years ago, then migrated here in 2015, taking up permanent residence with the death of RYM's OT board. Two years ago I was a finalist in MafiaUniverse's Tournament of Champions and I've been a part of many games here on the Syndicate.Marmot wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2018 12:22 amHello lapluie, I am Marmot.Sloonei wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2018 11:33 pm Before you try to figure out what's going on, lapluie, I suggest you introduce yourself to all these fine folks who haven't had the pleasure of meeting you. weak. To say nothing of the accuracy of your meta read on me, the posts you reference here are hardly relevant to any actual gameplay, and the rest of my day 1 posts were a bunch of 1-line questions and prods of individual players.DrWilgy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2018 9:27 pm @Sloonei your first post was too long for what it actually provided.
Then your post following also was too long and fluffy.
Comparing your first buncha posts here to other civ Sloonei posts makes me feel that you are being non genuine here. An example of difference can be found by comparing this game to the search for Quin.
Now. Why did I have to bark for you to bat an eye?
You barked of your own volition. Had you just come out and stated a suspicion of me rather than alluding to the possibility of one, I would have responded.

I wanted to get a feel for whether or not these thoughts were something he was factoring into his read of me here (this did not seem to be the case), and instead his reason for town reading me was expressed in three letters: gut. Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 0]
I didn't have a reason to respond to it initially because you didn't seem to be expressing any reason to suspect me. It seemed more like a mission statement rather than a declaration of suspicion: "I'm going to prove to you that Sloonei is bad this game." I only addressed the post in the context of the discussion around Made. I frankly do not care about your stance on me here because it doesn't appear that you have one. You have a hypothesis that I am bad. Get back to me when you find the symptoms of my badness, Doctor.DrWilgy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2018 8:34 pmWhy did it take you so long to comment on this? I guess I overlooked this post when I was discussing Made's observation about heat on me, but I don't really take this seriously since it doesn't seem like wilgy's expressing an actual suspicion of me, rather he's just shaking his fist at me for having close to 50 posts on Day 0. I'd shake my fist at me too. That's ridiculous.

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 0]
We have 3 kinds of Mafia.
Regular Mafia : It has a night start. There is no Day 0. It's a kind of role madness with a lot of power roles. The setup is closed and the night write-ups are filled with flavor names. Each role has a flavor name. So it's about the write-up and scum hunting during the day phase.
Traditional Mafia : It has a Day start. The setup is also closed and it's all about scum-hunting. There is no major write-ups.
Town of Salem : Night start. Open setup if only 15 players. More than that, the set-up is closed.
Roleclaiming depends on the host and what kind of Mafia. In traditional, it's usually forbidden or heavily frowned upon. You usually hint.
In Regular, the policy is leniant. The only thing you shouldn't do is quote your role PM.
[/quote]
Thanks. Do any players here stand out to you one way or the other?

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 0]
Yeah, the reads themselves aren't the reason I'm giving Made townie credit. It's there mere fact of their existence that I like. Even if they are totally bogus and "based on nothing", I like that Made opened himself up to discussion they would inevitably bring up. It's not impossible for a scum Made to take this step, and his own contributions to that discussion are going to carry a lot of weight for how my read develops, but at this moment I'm glad he posted a rainbow list and feel good about him for it.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2018 7:11 pm I'm not really giving Made any townie cred for being brave and sharing reads. Way I see it, anyone can throw out reads based on nothing and do a combination of refusing to answer questions about reads and walking them back.
I don't know Made well enough to say this is normal or this is suspicious but I can't see how anyone could give him townie cred for it.

I like that Made was the first player to come out with a rainbow list. It's a bold move and not one that he was prompted into doing. It shows a willingness to share reads and promote development in the thread.
I still have absolutely no idea where his read of me comes from, and that Macdougall is the only player lower than me on his list is a bit of a mystery as well.
