I don't think of Neverwhere. No opinion. I'll vote to keep it from being a tie, as I've always said.

My vote is on you because you left when I asked you a question. You came back, ignored it, and then when I asked again, you treated it as though it was a joke.

It wasn't a joke.
Well, I did actually post to say that I was going to have to bow out of the game for personal reasons, so I don't know there is surprise :D

Apologies for my lengthy absence. I am back.

Doesn't surprise me Sloonei was killed, but I also doubt that he was converted to mafia. He was perceived as too high profile good guy to have mafia convert him imo. It would have been the obvious thing to do. Too obvious.

I'm hoping to reply to Sloonei and other peoples concerns about me later. Finally have my internet working a bit better. However, I am suddenly faced with being in the situation where my relationship is breaking down and it's causing me a great deal of stress abd causing me to care a lot less about mafia. I may be quiet for another day or two, or I may just focus my attentions on mafia full time. Who the fuck knows. This is not to make you feel sorry for me and decide not to vote for me. Lynch me if you feel you must. Just wanted to let you know, I'm trying my best and will be a participant as soon as I can.

Right now, that's obviously Sloonei. So unless someone saved him, or he has a power to survive a NK on his own, I would be quite worried.

As for Golden voting Epi, that's a very weird choice, and I think we should think about why it's there. I doubt he was forced to do it, because Epig was not a high candidate for a lynch, so why waste it on him. So it seems he voted Epi for a good reason, at least to him.

Oh, and Neverwhere just reminded me about Splints.
Splints, of course civvies hesitate, but I think your choices for baddies are too easy. I think Bubbles is not bad, and based on his recent posts, I don't see Bass as bad either. I could be wrong of course, but it seems as if you chose the easy targets.

lol, that's my bad. sorry, it's been a long couple days of getting back on a regular schedule for me, i'm not being as attentive as i was earlier in the game.
Who else are you suspicious of?
That is ok! I get it, life has been really hectic the last few weeks so I feel like I've been the same.

I'm having a hard time reading a lot of these people as they are new to me and it's especially hard with two mafia teams. I've genuinely not got much of a civ read on many people. I think you might be the only person I feel 100% confident with as civ. Golden is reading civ to me and I'm wonderng if I can take this silencing as a good sign.

Then again this leads to question Cobalt. I don't have a great feeling about him, however, I'm wondering if it's maybe his style that just rubs me the wrong way. I need to go back and reread a lot Splints stuff. I was recently on a mafia team with splints and I think I might be seeing some similarities to the way she played when she played mafia.

Also, I'm leaning Civ for timmer for now.

And G-man is pinging me too. I'm not getting his game style. Does he feel like his predecessor just set himself up too muh and now he has no hope of shaking it? It feels like he either doesn't care about the game at all or he's just given up.

Re: [Day 4] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

I think Sloonei makes some really great points about Long Con. From the start I have been wary of him, I've never really fully felt comfortable putting him in the civ category. I also grew more suspicious when I went back over and read all of sigs posts, which I think i mentioned in my post on sig a couple pages back. It also makes me really curious when I see some people so hell bent on lynching him convinced that he is mafia. Isn't there a role checker? I think I have a busy day today, so I'm going to vote long con now and we'll see what the results are. like timmer i think it was said, we will have a better idea of peoples alignments once we see how Long Con flips.

Also, Sloonei I have an all civ read on you. I think you're pretty much the only person I feel 100% comfortable about.

I was disappointed not to see al ong post from you about why you think I'm scum. What about me is suspicious to you? It is true my name has popped up a couple of times, but I think its been dropped because people aren't seeing me as that suspicious. At any rate, I've got nothing to hide.

Re: [Day 3] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

I have a null read on Gumshoe, I'm unsure off him from his early engagement with Cobalt. But his response to Golden seemed sound.
Not much to go on at all....but where is Gumshoe? Wasn't he a suspect at one point? Sig seemed to just dismiss him as civ quickly and with nothing to back it up.

Snipped out some stuff, What Tiny Bubbles said is about being town is sending off warning bells, as well as saying they aren't very good at catching mafia until they play as mafia. This could be what he said or not. My thoughts on this is that maybe this was a first time mafia slip up? Saying they got Civ again and won't be good at catching mafia. Could this be a set up for when they try to lynch Cobalt? Here is the scenario, Cobalt gets lynched flips civilian TIny can turn around and say "since I was never mafia I'm not good at catching them" The first portion is more suspicious then that, but I still find it worth noting, I'm also using Cobalt as the example since TIny has voted for him.

The other thing Tiny said they were most likely going to bandwagon a person the reasoning being it is better then they lynch Cobalt someone with no votes and Tiny is the third person to vote. Not following what they said in this post.

So Tiny why go from bandwagoning on the highest voted player to voting for Cobalt? Also what do you mean by "cop out"

I did read your other posts explaining your votes, but it seems strange to have that change of mind could you explain to me why I should vote for say Cobalt over LC?
I forgot this was the post that really got me looking at Bubbles more closely. I had felt better about her being civ after her emotional posting, but this make me really think she's probably more civ now.
Okay to go along with my other reasoning for lynching Cobalt there is one more thing, this has something to do with another mafia game we are currently in so I really can't give any information about it. I Know this sounds scummy, but bare with it for a bit.
I'm know more sure that LC is innocent (this is solo based off of the Cobalt/LC exchange) and CObalt is either mafia or independent. So I will put my money were my mouth is and vote for Cobalt, he was my second day 1 choice after I decided on SVS.
Cobalt might say this is a revenge lynch, though that isn't the case I won't be restating my argument for why I think Cobalt is scummy and I will provided additional information of my other mafia game if I'm lynched this phase.
What even is this? Was he on the same team as LC? I'm pretty brain dead tired, so someone please correct me if he was trying to lynch LC at another time and im just not remembering.
He seems to feel strongly about Cobalt -- could Cobalt be on the other team? And anyway, where is Cobalt? He's disappeared.

I really dislike that there are some members that just have not even contributed yet. Where is DREAM?

I am in favor of this theory because a) it explains why neither of them will just let. It. the. fuck. GO. Already., despite the fact they're both just saying the same thing over and over again and completely talking past each other, and b) it gives us permission to just ignore them both and get on with finding baddies. I, for one, am going to operate as if this were the case for the foreseeable future. :nicenod: I encourage anyone who values their sanity and a productive application of their valuable reading time to do the same. :srsnod:

2) This is kinda OT, and probably better fodder for another thread (Shameless plug: I recently created a thread where precisely this kind of thing might better be discussed!) but.....

Let's just keep that in mind.
While I (maybe? It's hard to tell) might agree with your general sentiments here, I honestly don't think vague, non-specific "reminder" (translation: passive aggressive "call-out") posts like this are all that useful in the moment at halting whatever it is you're taking issue with. While general "things are yucky, let's talk about it" discussions can totally work on a site-wide scale, if specific things in a specific game are happening and you want them to stop, SAY WHAT THEY ARE! Otherwise, how the heck are the perpetrators ever supposed to fix them? Conversely, how the heck are people who share your feelings ever supposed to realize that they are not alone?

In my experience, if you don't call out specific actions as they happen, and instead make vague gestures towards a mysterious set of "things that have happened", then those who have done those elusive "things" will inevitably assume it doesn't apply to them, while others who haven't will inevitably take it personally and think you're referring to them. I fully support people calling out exactly what it is that they find bothersome or offensive (though always, it goes without saying, in a respectful manner) in the spirit of open and honest dialogue..... but we as a community can't fix or take action on things that are only vaguely implied or hinted at. Unnecessary vagueness and generalizations - by increasing the levels of misunderstandings and miscommunications - actually contribute to the problem more than fixing it. If you're going to make a public announcement of your disapproval (and don't get me wrong, I fully support doing so, as long as it's done respectfully) it's honestly not super useful to do so in a way that simultaneously implicates everyone and no one. /PSA[/ot][/quote]

Ok then. The people who just aren't or weren't taking the game seriously and fucking about. All the unnecessary aggro and drama and everyone and their mother subbing out the whole game. I get it sometimes happens, but I feel like there's been so much drama this game and i dont get why people can't just chill the fuck out. This is a game, it's not personal.

But, of course, you notice people's instincts more when you are mafia and they are on to you, so your view on her performance in the other two games is valid and interesting. Do you think that, despite mafia not getting caught, she was on track in those games?? I think she did call out MP in Omerta, no?
Hmm, I don't know. I remember her more clearly from Narnia, probably because I was more familiar with most of the players there. I found her a little bandwagony. From my memory she jumped on who was being most talked about for a lynch andwent with it. If she did suspect someone who was really mafia she usually didn't follow through wth a lynch.
As for callng out MP, whilst true, almost everyone called out MP to the point that he even told his own team mates to lynch vote him cause he was a sinking ship going down and voting for him might make us look less suspicious.

Golden -- you said that TB was playing her usual civ game and that in previous games she's had pretty spot on insticts, or something like that. However, the two games I've played with Bubbles, mafia won both time and in only one of those games did a mafia get caught and that was because of a little slip up. That is not to say I don't think Bubbles is a good player -- I do. I'm just wondering if you could elaborate as you make it sound like she was top baddy catcher....

Sorry if that's getting misinterpreted. I was speaking in a plural sense since there were a few people harping on me over it.
It's cool. I posted that before I read your longer posts after it. Just the bit I highlighted in red seemed like you were singling me out as having no sense of humour and that as a newbie I wasn't welcome here. I now see that this was misinterpreted.

I actually did find your pic posts amusing at the start, and I totally get you not wanting to catch up on 35 pages of this game. I don't blame you -- I wouldn't either. I think it just irritated a couple of us because we've had so many pages of Colbat's crap and it's all starting to get a little overwhelming and stressful -- at least for me anyway.

In another situation I'd probably really enjoy more of your pic posts :) This has just been a frustrating game is all.
Oh gosh! I didn't realize you were new. I can totally see how that could seem rude then. I'm fairly new to The Syndicate (this is my 4th game here) but I played with some of these crazy characters elsewhere over the years.

And now that you mention it, yeah, I can see how patience could be at a premium if you guys already had to wade through some yucky hostility and drama already. My bad!

Will do.
timmer wrote:@Cobalt, I HATE the way you played Day 2.

Assuming things happened because of the reasons you said, let me list the reasons why.

1. If you are a civ, and Long Con was a civ an died, you'd have manipulated the game into burning your ability AND taken out a civ. Lose-lose.

2. If Long Con had died and was civ, we'd still have no way to know your alignment, thus you would have managed to kill a civ AND not actually bolstered your civ credentials at all.

3. You were blatant in saying how your role was going to work. I don't know if you realize this, but that broke one of Dom's rules pretty baldly, and often, when a player breaks rules, the host will provide the opposition with an extra power or some kind of ammo to counteract the unbalancing of the game that you caused. So, if you are indeed civ, you very likely handed the baddies something extra to balance out your rule break. In fact, it wouldn't shock me, if Long Con eventually flips bad, to fin out that he survived the lynch because Dom hd to balance your info dump.

4. Your play has forced the game to focus on you and Long Con. If you are civ, that's the dumbest possible move.

All of this to say, I think you've really mishandled this game, if you are a civ.
I want to say that what Cobalt has done has not been illegal becuaes of a stipulation I put in Rule #2: No role outing. No info dumping. However, feel free to lie about any role descriptions, you might learn about.

Coablt's discussion has been totally about role descriptions.... you can choose to believe or disbelieve him.
Dom, are you actually from Mullingar?

I don't care if all of your posts are with pictures. What I'm bothered by, is the fact that you're wasting so much time doing that, while you won't bother catching up, or trying to figure out what's going on.
And referring to another game helps how? If you're trying to claim you're a civvie because that's what you did in that game, then spare me, I've seen baddies use that tactic.

I looked back a few pages ago, where I think it was Golden who suggested out of thread evidence for the person you replaced being bad. Since I come from another site, where I used to use out of game evidence all the time, I don't see it as inappropriate, and I think he might have a good point there. Add that to the fact I didn't get a good vibe from the gamer guy on day 0, and you just look bad. So if you care at all, how you appear, I'd suggest you start trying to help

Trimmed it, but MM's comment about Tiny and LC makes some sense. Tiny has pretty much no input into this game, but managed to defend LC AND jump on my initial Cobalt vote which had been, at the time, based on an erroneous read of his post history. And Long Con managed to pseudo-suspect Tiny without committing to it in a meaningful way. Very interesting read, MM.
I totally agree. I had put my early vote with Bubbles this am, and have a feeling unless I can get on board with group lynching another member, my vote will stay with Bubbles. I feel quite strongly that she is mafia.

I never got much of a read on Gamer guy, but I think I'm going to go back and re read all his posts because G man is coming off scummy to me. Neverwhere, the town is actually more effective at catching baddies when everyone is thoughtful and civil, because, as demonstrated yesterday, when feuds arise the thread is forced to resolve them by lynch (or attempted lynch). I'm certainly with you that if Cobalt doesn't calm it down and allow the town to function as a whole then I'm on board for a lynch.

linki - I thought TB was hinting at not being the three specific roles mentioned in the book, would be interesting to get her take on that.
Agreed. I Don't think it would be a wasted lynch regardless of his actual role. Even if he turns out to be civ his behaviour is not exactly helpful to anyone.

If he is Civ it does make you wonder if he has info on LC that he is actually mafia. Honestly, I'm sick of that duo's drama so I'm willing to ignore it for another day to properly focus on all members of the game. No, that does not make me scum.

TinyBubbles is definitely pinging me for sure. In previous games I played with her she was pretty upbeat and worried about voting the wrong person constantly. She was civ both times. She seems different in this game and much more defensive than I ever remember her being before. Anyone who has to cry I AM CIVILAN in those exact words every post has me raising my eyebrow! :P

I did suspect hedgie last day. Now, I must go wash the dishes, but later on when I get a chance I will reread her posts and give my update opinion.

Golden, for the record I'm reading you as more civ now.

I think i recall bass suspecting i'm scum? I dont know if that was just meant to provoke a reaction or if it's his real opinion. Either way it's fishy.. and yes, for the 1000th time im still civ and will be civ ALL GAME and if you think that it's scummy of me to reiterate that, you don't really know me at all or you're misdirecting.

what do you think about Neverwhere's posts?
Somewhat neutral. Her earlier posts give me a civvie-leaning vibe, but like LC said it's odd how she jumped on BR's clearly-not-a-slip-up, and based on what she said about Cobalt in a couple posts I would maybe look her way for a possible teammate if he turns out to be bad.
I admit, I was skimmin when I read that post and thought it was a slip up. I have been playing a lazy game this time round, and for that I am sorry. Honestly not enjoying this game as much as all the others I played due to what I perceive as more hostility than I am used to in mafia. I could just be reading all of this wrong, but it just takes away from the fun. Thus I've been skimming, intending to come back and do a proper read and then getting caught up in life and not bothering my fucking ass. I will try and do better.

If Cobalt isn't bad at this stage I really don't care and just want him gone regardless because he's distracting and derailing the game and sounds like he's tantruming non stop. It takes away from other players.

I can see what you are saying about her. It takes until her seventh post to say something that's not a one line response to somebody else, and when she finally does make a long post and name names, she's also making a bunch of excuses and apologies. This could very easily be in line with a townie who was simply too busy during Day 1 to contribute a lot, but it could just as easily be scummy behavior.

And hey, what's this?

I think I have it solved basically, some of the flavour text I haven't but it is a baddie role. I think there is a possibility of a civvie being corrupted. I just stupidly realized the other team has four members so they won't necessarily have a recruit. :phew:
"the other team"? This would be a colassal scum slip, but I'm gonna need Black Rock to explain what she meant here.

On the whole this is a pretty safe post history. She's named a few people as being vaguely suspicious but the only one she really substantiated was Bass, and I'm not really seeing the case against him right now. Could see it as an effort by scum (BR) to stand apart from the rest of the game's action and make herself look good for having a different suspect than everyone else.
I also noticed that slip up. Hmm..

Re: [Day 2] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

I think the Tiny pattern thing you mentioned above was brought up because people thought that it was odd she would keep mentioning it over and over and that it could eb the case she's just trying too hard to be careful and mimic every other game she has played. I thnik there could be something to this theory, and I have my eye on her but I would like to observe her for a little longer. She is also a very low poster so I haven't read much from her.

I had considered Cobalt for my vote last time round, and I think he's my top suspect for todays lynch. I get really scummy vibes off him. I am a little worried about the things he has insiunated about his role, but I also think those could indicate that he is mafia.

Golden is someone I want to keep a closer eye on. I couldn't give you specifics at this moment in time (hence wanting to scrutinise further) but I've always played with civvie Golden and feel like there's something slightly different this game.
