Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - GAME OVER

Woah! Game over!

Didn't expect that to end so suddenly. Talk about a Cavil massacre..

Polo wins civ MVP for sure.
Ricochet wrote:16) Please to answer: Scotty, who did you search for or who did you removed from the poll?
I don't remember exactly who, but I went down the gambit of women playing, just in case Starbuck was in fact being played by a woman. Like I checked indiglo the same night she died. So that sucked. Matt does not fit the bill of a woman.

I also got this inclination based on the admiral's messages that zebra was the admiral. And I kept pushing that. Right around day 5, when zebra/rabbit was getting all sorts of bad looks, I took her/him off the poll.

Ugh sucks that deadies don't win :( Ive just come to expect a loss in games nowadays :sigh:

Indiglo being killed brought about my short stint as president. I really enjoyed the power, even if we were only allowed to choose from a bank of laws. I really liked the "X Protection Law" which gave a random person immunity to a night kill. I thought this was hugely in favor of the civs, and took advantage of that law on Marmot (I didn't choose him). I hoped that law would come around again but I didn't last past that second night to see.

Also, vompatti comin in with the Post Limit law. Man, I saw that one on my second night and I just knew that would be a terrible law to pass from my perspective because of the stifling of conversation and cramming stuff into wall posts, so I picked the less harmful "post in haiku every day" law. I must say that Gaius and I have different strategies to our platforms lol.

Thanks for the awesomely complex game, Golden! Now that I've played this, I almost feel like I've seen the show. It's only slightly unfortunate that I felt like I had to read up on the show lore and spoil myself, because now I don't really feel like sitting through the show. I still have never seen an episode. Ah well

I would halfway agree with you.

However, people have staggered their claims over the past 2 days. LoRab claimed yesterday, which is why her CPU was turned off today.

It was actually a BOON for everyone to mass claim yesterday because LoRab was going to die either way you looked at it. That way, no one could hold on to their potential immunity.

So two days ago, I would have agreed whole-heartedly. Now? There's only a few that haven't claimed. And they look infinitely more suspicious.

And hey sig,
I'll stop tunneling on you a sec. Glorf is down right making you out to be the sun god while he a loyal servant of Pelor. I think both of you are bad, especially in that you have very similar voting records.

Does that count as not tunneling?
So you halfway agree that a mass claim would help mafia more than hurt them but you're still up for pressuring those that haven't claimed yet to claim just because they look "infinitely more suspicious" if they don't at this point, just because they're the minority now? You're getting my vote.
You misunderstand me.

If we had all mass claimed at the same time a few days ago, then there would be no accountability and it would have helped Mafia. Yesterday, after LoRab already came out as a cylon and was the one on the chopping block, it would HURT Mafia more if everyone had claimed yesterday.

I'm not suspecting you right now, and hadn't been FYI. Vote for me if you want, but look at the strategy behind everyone claiming yesterday. Dismissing that strategy, because it logically is very viable, is not a good look.

Or at least help me understand why the last 9 people who haven't claimed should hold off from here on and how that helps Mafia if they do. I really want to understand your mindset.

Scotty, this post came before the first resurrection ship was destroyed. You asserted that even if the resurrection ship is destroyed, you didn't want to lynch Epignosis because of the "high chance" of his being resurrected again.

This catches my attention because at this point, I don't believe it was public knowledge that there are multiple resurrection ships, meaning you'd have had to know that yourself ahead of the game.
Sorry, I'm in a show right now and haven't been around to respond to this.

This quote is part of a larger one detailing my hesitancy in getting rid of Epi when he appeared as a possibility to being town-aligned. So my viewpoint was skewed towards viewing him as not an immediate enemy.

In regards to being resurrected again, my thought process was that merely destroying a ship does not guarantee it would mean Epi was vulnerable. Hell, the whole thing was a huge assumption that that would be the be all end all for cylon death. The "high chance?" :shrug2: I dunno, could be a desire to postpone the immediate lynch of Epi. I don't remember

Why do we need a secondary lynch candidate if LoRab claimed yesterday?
Do you all read my posts?

I'm trying to give sig a taste of his own medicine.

His proposition was 'STOP VOTING FOR LORAB' if you recall, for the sole purpose of putting Epi in the lead so that he would have to claim Cylon or else he gets lynched. He's been throwing flak at Epi because he's been withholding his claim, so this snuffs out the rabbit.
Since sig refuses to claim himself, and has even said- just a couple pages ago- that he doesn't want to claim "yet", I was suggesting we put him out front so that he had to say cylon. Because obviously he's saving it. He's said so, in so many words. Why would a human be saving it?

So nobody is going to follow my Epi plan fine. Just like the civs in Turf War they were to focused on one thing.

So I think we should have Epi number 1 not to lynch him today, but to stop him from getting out of a lynch in case we need to lynch him in the future.Yes before I wanted to lynch him since I thought all cylons where bad, I've changed my view on that though. However, I'll point out the player who pushed the not all cylons are evil and we don't need to lynch Epi was nutella a baddie.
Since you are wanting to lynch Epi predicated on the assumption that if we put him ahead of LoRab he'll be forced to claim cylon, why don't we do the same to you?

That doesn't have to happen. All they have to do is speak the words "I am a Cylon", and that possibility goes away forever.
But, if they aren't a cylon they'll get lynched.
Why do you think you can force me to do anything?

Why are you not interested in finding and lynching people who can kill you? I cannot kill anyone. Lynching me to "force" me to do anything means you are okay burning a lynch and not putting pressure on killers.
We wouldn't lynch you though since you'd claim so you'd be lynch proof and then Lorab would be lynched if we believe she is a bad cylon. So we will end up lynching someone who can kill us.
Once again, I think you are a bad cylon hiding under the guise of a civilian that wants civ-leaning cylons dead.

Yes, we all now have a new win condition. But I have a feeling that can change...

Some people know some things, apparently... I'm with you in ignorance of this concept, although Epi has been strongly hinting at this for some time now.. directly to me.
It's a reason why semi-closed setups are starting to not rank well in the games I play. It causes everyone to start talking cryptic and "you know what i'm sayin' dontcha", after a while, and it simply clogs my ability to focus and discern.

4.4. At university, there was this door with a large glass, except the glass had been removed. I just went throught it. Ow.

4.5. I either missed a lot of the Silverwolf - LC spat or just tuned out of yet another spat developing in the game, but, for what it's worth, I think Silverwolf is simply inclined to use a rebuttal vocabulary that includes terms such as "lying", "discrediting", "liar" in trying to prove the point of someone being bad or nefarious in his defense or talk-back. Also for what it's worth, I found it that, if one would simply try to refresh or backup in the discourse and clarify things, Silverwolf is far more open to (re-)assess and (re-)address things than, say, another certain wolf in this pack.

4.6. I don't approve of sig's plan. Epig is not a priority, bad Cylons are. And LoRab, who may be bad. I don't And I also don't think it'll work to make Epig squirm and claim, anyhow. He doesn't seem inclined to claim, so I'm guessing it will not happen. I'm inclined to read sig's plan as either coming from an non-alignment indicative "agenda" player seeking opportunity to get rid of Epignosis while martial law is in play, either as a baddie trying to dig Epig up, instead of worrying about having to bus LoRab (if bad and his teamie) or participate in a mislynch counterwagon (again).

Also
sig wrote:@HOST was no kill submitted or was the nightkill blocked? Also when did the Marmot law start working? Would it have blocked last nights kill?

Why you may ask the answer is simply, right now we need to kill all the cylons the cylon amnesty law is still in play. We should make Epi the number 1 wagon and Lorab the number 2 wagon, So Epi will need to claim he's a cylon so he won't have the amnesty and then Lorab will still be lynched. We need to make sure everyone is on board with this though and we don't have what happened yesterday where Lorab had fewer votes then the counterwagon.

@HOST was no kill submitted or was the nightkill blocked? Also when did the Marmot law start working? Would it have blocked last nights kill?

Almost done school for the year so bear with me here.
LoRab has all but confirmed herself as a cylon. "Right now we need to kill all the cylons"

I'm not convinced this win condition will stick around. And even if it does, we have Epi, who is for all intents and purposes, our strongest civ-leaning cylon. So we have him in our back pocket for a future lynch if we need, and even if he doesn't claim cylon with this law until that said, we'll cross that bridge.

We have no idea about LoRab. She's definitely vulnerable. I know I just entertained it, but relying on some weird last minute vote manipulation to get one player in the lead so they'll claim cylon is a strategy that didn't work yesterday. Just ask Nero.
We already know Epi is a cylon though so he'd be forced to claim thus ending his immunity save. I see nothing wrong there. ALSO I find it funny as you say this you're trying to set up my lynch.
Hey there quicksilver. I have a pretty strong gut read that you are cylon, and are steering us toward lynching Epi, who so far has been doing us no harm. Despite what Admiral Cain says, I don't think all cylons are bad, and am confident we can rectify the ship before it gets too hot in here.

Gaaah I don't even know how to word it. I just meant because of this law, we didn't nuke a Cylon, but got us a civ.

Suuuucks.

Pres Roslin, please repeal this law so we don't even have to talk about it anymore. It's distracting the town.

Long Con - I don't think we've had a "So Say We All" for awhile either, and yeah, there was no message from Adama. Blocked?
You were at the start of the game most open minded - most lore based. And now with Saul dying you are closing your mind. I get it. I really do. I hate that I helped lynch Saul.

but please please matt don't close your mind because Saul died. Please please keep playing the game and keep searching for the lore and keep being the most sane matt I've ever seen.

And also I need one more night before I'd admit anyithing about the loss of an adamna message, Still crossing my fingers and hoping he was interfeared with last night.
What are you griping about? Adama did send a message. He can just not jump the fleet, or whatever else it is the Admiral does. He can still address the fleet, as Golden has pointed out.

Hey, why is sig still alive? I think he is cylon. I see LoRab seems to be the way to go this phase, but I also like he idea someone proposed of sending someone else the group suspects in the lead to push them to claim cylon. At first I didn't understand the premise to claim because it would essentially be lying for some people, but I missed the whole vulnerability thing in future day lynches, so I'm fine with claiming now.

I am a cylon.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - Day Four

So say we all??

Yay no death.

Where is the captain in this mess? Does the arrival of Cain mean that the Admiral has no powers any more? I'm far from desiring to be insubordinate, but I'm still questioning this decision. What did the Admiral Adama do that called for martial law?

Cain, I hope you know what you are doing.

Either way, as I was catching up, it looks like LoRab is the lunch if choice today? I'm still not sure how the Nero wagon formed. But the problem is: WE STILL CANT LYNCH A CYLON IF THEY DECLARE THEMSELVES.

Why is that a law? Admiral Cain, you are making this very hard for the colony to win if we still can't lynch cylons.

Hopefully this forces the president's hand to repeal that Cylon lynch law. Please.

Scotty out.

I was thinking, that given the res ships and maybe the res HUB, if the cylons start off being unable to die *and* have BTS that's a heck of an early game advantage structure wise. Maybe to sort of balance that advantage cylons don't start with BTS - but rather are recruited by Cavil. Since as the show goes on, there is more and more distention in the ranks between the cylons and even within particular models themselves it would both aid the game and keep things in line lore wise.

Anyway - it was something I was tossinig around in my head. Might be worth something later. I could also be dead wrong.
Ahhh yea, that actually would make sense to have a recruiter.

That could technically mean that Epi could be recruited, if this were the case.

What I would hope to see is a lynched cylon or Cavil himself with information like "he/she was recruited by Cavil. If we never see that, then who knows if we'll ever get confirmation. There's just so much we don't knoooooooowwwww

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - Day Two

So I will roll with the "waiting for DFaraday to explain more" movement.
Nutella has done nothing to dissuade the attention she has garnered. Maybe it's because she has no votes and thus doesn't feel like she needs to respond, or maybe she missed the accusations entirely.

LC has a few things not going well for him in my book:
-stubbornness in not acknowledging that not all cylons are evil.
-the sortie blurt just screams insubordination. Some have suggested he has done the obtuse action -> joke explanation before as a baddie, so this is an entirely possible baddie move to get us off the checkerboard trail, in which we would have found the first resurrection ship in 4 moves, as opposed to 6 (I think 6).
-his explanation of shouting out a rando sector also came with the assumption that the ships were not 1x1. How convenient.
-JJJ's case on him, for lack of better words, looks bad.

Rico, as I previously have said, could have eliminated ika for being his biggest vocal opponent. He says he would never quell a vocal opponent, but I also said I wouldn't get that donut at the gas station today. Priorities change.

It was such junk that I actually defended him when he was all "Oh, it was just a joke." I said no way would bad LC make a case THAT lame against me. The RYM peeps weren't having any of that and lynched him anyway. Lo and behold - he was bad and for the next two cycles everyone was convinced I was the second part of a gambit that I totally wasn't a part of. His kill all cylons stance gives me some pause though. I can't see a bad cylon having that store of attitude.
Ah, but I think on the contrary: if there are separate alignments within the cylon ranks, I can definitely see a baddie cylon talking with this viewpoint for Cred. Because maybe there are cylons that are not working with Cavil, for instance. Those cylons would need to be eliminated. So losing someone like Epi, for instance, looks human but can actually have nefarious intentions

Better a mental stop sign than a mental case.

Once, when I was 10 or 11, I got it in my head that arrowhead rocks were worth large sums of money on the street so when I was younger I stockpiled a bunch given to me from friends (hahaha suckers) and set up a stand outside my house. I sold them for $100 each. After 4 hours in the heat and no money to show for my endeavors, my mom came out and gave me a $100 bill for my entire rock collection. I felt shorted, but with much chagrin, I sold them to her and went inside for dinner.

I wonder what she's doing with her rocks now.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - Day Two

Ok I just googled some shtuff:
As a safeguard, the Hub periodically jumps to new locations and relays its position to the baseships' Hybrids once completed.
Can we intercept the coordinates somehow? I don't know who could do that, or how to trigger that.

I hope I don't spoil anything for myself or others. It's a weird line, but I feel like stuff needs to be known.
With the Hub's destruction, the Cylons can no longer resurrect and will know permanent death. Only the Final Five know how the Hub and resurrection work, and with the subsequent deaths of two of the Five, resurrection is lost foreve
So it sounds like the final 5 know the location. And it may jump around a lot, which would mean it could essentially be anywhere on the grid at any time, if I am to take the wording here at face value.

Saw this before I logged off. What about that lower left corner? It hasn't really been touched yet at all.

But at this point, I think it's just as likely a ship is stuffed somewhere in between other, already searched sectors.

Gee, that was helpful. :goofp:

Linki w/Scotty - Ok, I'll mark you down. So far, Golden has replied to those questions with a shrug. So... :shrug2: LOL
If I were manually choosing a plot graph, I would make at least 1 in a separate quadrant. I don't know how many we're dealing with here, but I'd definitely put one on the border, assymmetrical with the rest of them.

Honestly though, I'd choose a space right next to the confirmed chip location I.e. A2, C2, B1 or B3. I see no reason to continue using the underlined checkerboard pattern since we have blown up a 1x1 ship.
Unless you guys are thinkin the Hub ship could still take up multiple sectors?

I do not think it's Battleship. I think the rez ship is in one sector alone. I think this because... these are sectors of space!! Like, big. Imagine a ship that's the size of our solar system - that's the kind of thing I would imagine taking up four squares. It's insane! The ship is a large ship that resides in a super-exponentially larger sector of space.

And yes, this is a game and these quasi-'laws of reality' don't have to apply. If Golden wanted it to be a Battleship game, then it's cool despite grinding at my sense of scale and reality.
This...actually makes sense. :ponder:

Makes me wonder if the checkerboard pattern starting from A1 was thunked up by a cylon that knows the ship isn't located in the underlined pattern, thus giving them more time to be invincible...

I opened this in a tab to reply to, and now I can't remember why. I'm thinking maybe Scotty was quoting LC's longer explanation of his mischief?

I agree that the ship is likely to be in 1 square alone, especially now. (Duh) But we still can only search 1 sector at a time. With this new clarification, does the checkerboard pattern still grind your gears? No matter how we slice it, we can only do 1 sector at a time, and hope to get lucky and get Kat & Hot Dog back alive. (Like we did! :omg: )
No, actually. I think that if a cylon knew of the resurrection ships' location, they would have purposely led us astray. I feel better about Drumbeats, for instance.

But it makes me wonder how many of these ships we have to blow up.

I don't know the lore: I understand Matt thinks there is a Hub/mothership. Is there any evidence of that in lore? Or evidence of a fleet in the series to assist us?

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - Day Two

I think I like the case on Nutella devised by JJJ, but I'm also in the camp is cautious about the differences in JJJ's playstyle possibly bamboozling me.

I currently am leaning more toward voting Nutella at this time
