GG civs. You guys got us fair and square
That GMan Indie peek really threw me for a loop. I probably should have just run with it.
I'm afraid I'll have to try harder next time. Thanks for the game, Rico!

Gman check SVS tonight. That will determine whether we vote rabbit or her. The only possible baddie after that is Epi and daisy.

Re: [Day 4] Triskaidekaphobia Mafia
Finished reading back.
[quote="GMan]Scotty claims he is civ and not indy. I have to consider that I am what is called a Confused Cop, where my peek results are not completely trustworthy. My peek was correct Day 0 and Night 2. Night 1 is unconfirmed and Night 3 was blocked. If it's as simple as an every-other pattern, I would expect my Night 4 peek to be accurate.
[/quote]
Wait- Is that your role description? If so, why are you just now revealing this? Or is that just a hypothesis?
With the 3 roles basically surmised I see no way you were influenced to get my role wrong via outside presences. So either there's something of your role you don't know about. Or you're bad.
I fully believe Wilgy is a jailor. I'm not satisfied you're not just a liar.
I'm voting GMan.

im in the process of moving. I apologize for my absence.
Who should I vote? This is quite uncharacteristic of me, but I am behind, about to take off on a flight, and am a free agent right now.

Seeeeeya Elo
the "factions" thing on Elo's role description sounds pretty clear cut to me as there being indies. I however, am not Mafia or indie as would be suggested.
Not far fetched, but wrong.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:Theory: Scotty is the "mafia" team mate of Elohcin, and he registered as "independent" because he was the one that might betray her.

Re: [Day 3] Triskaidekaphobia Mafia
Why did I slip to #3 on your list of 4?G-Man wrote:Best guess from my end is that Scotty is denying it for two reasons:
1) He's got an either/or win-con and knows the baddie team is still in tact and might still have a shot at winning
2) He doesn't want the baddies to NK him out of concern that his role could be threat to them
After getting my peek on Scotty, I did consider the fact that the accuracy of my peeks may be in question. Scoring an indy peek right out of the gate is lucky, and I considered it as possibly too good to be true. INH and Eloh's peeks being confirmed as they are gives me hope that my Scotty peek is also correct. His dismissal of indy roles early on, as Quin noted, adds credibility in my mind but it could be a coincidence.
Getting Scotty's peek on Night 1 is why I said my GTH reads needed adjusting on Day 2. I didn't want to post a revised list early in the phase because Scotty had been my #1 suspicion on Day 1 and I didn't want to draw attention to his slide in my suspects list. Someone would have wanted to know why and there wasn't anything Scotty said in the thread to justify such a drop. That might have been conspicuous to attentive players. Thankfully, the JJJ v. Epi cage match ensued and no one asked about why Scotty slipped to #3 on my list.
3.StephenKing
Did you peek someone on N0?
Do you still think your peek could possible be too good to be true, and neither one of us are lying?

Re: [Day 3] Triskaidekaphobia Mafia
Dunno. Indie is oddly specific. I think another possibly theory is there is a mechanic in this game that puts a lens through his peeks? If he really is the cop, there's some sort of hijinx at play here.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:I believe it's plausible. Here's my question for you though:Scotty wrote:JaggedJimmyJay wrote:No, but I am not simultaneously refuting a G-Man peek.Scotty wrote:Uh no? Does it you?JaggedJimmyJay wrote:Scotty, Elohcin has since reneged on her baddie claim and resumed playing. Does this mean something to you?
I'm only saying what I know to be true. do you think it's at least possible that GMan is full of bunk and just got a lucky? Hell, I could have come in and said Colonel Sanders' main ingredient in his chicken is Soylent Green and it could be revealed as so. Doesn't mean I performed a dead chicken seance and learned it. Could be a lucky postulation.
Or, could be a big red bus.
If G-Man faked the peek and got lucky when Elohcin fell for it, that still implies he is not on her team. So if he is good, what is the purpose of faking an indy peek on you -- especially as a night phase is ending when he might be about to die and thus unable to ever reveal the truth of that fake peek?
If he is bad, then like I said earlier, Elo could have been a planned target. Maybe she knew her goose was cooked, and let GMan be the one to assign the scapegoat. This would get him huge Cred, but you are right that it's a far-fetched idea if he doesn't survive the night.

3.
First of all, if I'm independent it's news to me; second, my role name is very vague and I don't know how you could pull anything of note from that.
If I were an independent at all, why not just roll with it and convince everyone I am a well-intentioned indie even if I wasn't?JaggedJimmyJay wrote:If Scotty is a harmless independent, then I don't know what would hold him back from just telling us that. It's legal to do so. Instead he has outright denied being an independent and called G-Man a liar -- this means one of them must be a liar at least in this instance.
I'm flat-out denying I am indie because my role says vanilla civ and I don't like being slandered. Lol I actually had to check and make sure I wasn't just missing out on something this game.
i dunno what else to say about that.
Again, if we're getting down to the skivvies and no one else looks enticing, (and GMan, the lying sack of potatoes, has been lynched if he hasn't been NK'd yet) just lynch me if you want to settle your minds.
Also voting Elo.

I hate these meta arguments. I know you play with those types of meta guidelines, SVS, but I don't always buy that your team has to play that way. I've been on teams before with a player going "they'll never suspect I killed [Player] because I don't usually"

Re: [Day 3] Triskaidekaphobia Mafia
GMan, if you did in fact check me, and it came back Indie, there is some tomfoolery somewhere. I swear I am villa. So can you see from my perspective of why I'm rather hostile towards you? The good news is that even if you are full of shit, Elo outed herself. So your little gambit worked out.G-Man wrote:Beautiful catch there Quin. I think you're on to something. One thing that points me slightly to S~V~S as an Eloh teammate is Polo's death. If S~V~S is a baddie, I can almost guarantee that one of the things she told her teammates was to watch out for Polo. He caught on to S~V~S in BSG and it led to a downfall that came sooner than we'd have liked. It's easy to be leery of players who were just baddies because their behavior is freshest in your memory.
Now, S~V~S has had a lot of real life stuff going on so far this game. Initially, that made me waver on her as a baddie because she is committed to a team. She doesn't give up or leave teammates hanging out of negligence. She's going under the radar this game, hiding her online status. I'm not sure if she always does that but I feel like I remember her status being visible during BSG. Her last post anywhere on The Syndicate was early Saturday evening before the lynch post even dropped. With her hidden status, it's impossible to know if she logged in for night time BTSC but it is possible that she has been absent from the game and site since then.
It's a bit of a stretch just now but here goes:
1) S~V~S subs in for one of the quiet players.
2) Eloh knows that at least one of them is a teammate of hers that she hasn't been in contact with, so she asks S~V~S who she's subbing in for.
3) On Night 1, S~V~S tells them to keep an eye out for Polo because he helped bring her down hard in BSG.
4) S~V~S disappears an hour before the D2 lynch post and doesn't come back during the night.
5) Frustrated by not having all three minds present to come up with their kill, Eloh and her other BTSC partner opt for Polo because he's barely playing (which won't disrupt any of the finger-pointing taking place) and S~V~S warned them that he can be very dangerous if he figures any of them out.
Polo was a very weird kill. I'm going to spend time over lunch processing it more.
Linki: I can't tell if Scotty is just denying it or if he is in fact hostile to the civvie cause.
Double linki: S~V~S's last post before now was on Saturday, an hour before the lynch post.
3.05
Lynch me after the first 2 or 3 or however many Mafia are killed and if we still didn't win, then go ahead and lynch me if you're in doubt. I'm not doing much for the civ cause right now even if y'all did believe me. This week is hell like I said.

With Polo dead, I gotta go to the drawing board.
To answer your question, JJJ, I could see an Elo/GMan/Epi team. Or throw SVS in there. That's IF you are good, JJJ. I'm leaning civ on you now that Polo is dead and your posts after Elo outed herself.

Re: [Day 3] Triskaidekaphobia Mafia
Sorry I'm playing like poop y'all. I've been predisposed.
And looky looky what the cat dragged in.
You know what's funny? I was going to play along with GMan's ploy in calling me indie, and make up something because I knew he was full of crap, but his red peek of Elo compounded with her flat out confession made me pause.
I am not indie. I am a vanilla town, and you can take that to the bank.
The amount of time between what appears to be an Elo call out from GMan and Elo's "blowing up" if you will is very quick in the big scope of things. I feel like this whole thing was planned on GMan's part.
What I don't understand in this scenario is a bad Elo being so eager in the early game wanting to be bussed at this point. Is that a gambit that Mafia would employ this early just to add habanero to the soup?
I will be voting Elo but I guess I wonder if she would have a trick up her sleeve or else GMan does.
I can assure you that GMan is NOT the cop, and got lucky with the Elo "peek".

Hello fam! I am alive! Unlike INH. Rip INH.
I have a show in an hour that I need to prepare for, but in the meantime, Polo and JJJ have my evil eye. I'm not really putting in the effort necessary to make a compelling case for Polo to get you guys to vote with me for him, but I'm CONVINCED he is bad. He was lurking again and not posting I just saw. 4 or so posts! Come on!
That being said, I'm open to more people tomorrow. Still sporadic, so I'm giving it one more day. If y'all can convince me on someone other than polo, I'll be your free agent, whatever. I'm about to get cr8zy

Both are incredibly simplistic. I want to see you make an assertion that isn't so obvious/easy.
I think hat you have been flailing under pressure without the use of your computer and I wouldn't put it beneath you to offhandedly defend a teammate under pressure, no.

Re: [Night 1] Triskaidekaphobia Mafia
Ugh man I hate being behind. I'm getting close to asking for a replacement, and that is something I have never done. But my schedule right now is beyond busy for the next week, and I'm going to have a hard time doing analysis like I usual do. If that is grounds for you to vote for me, then there's not much I can do about that.
Off the top of my head, looking at the polls, I see a bunch of people jumping on the Vomps wagon and would not be surprised if 1-2 Mafia are on that.
I can't tell from Rico's poll post, but did Polo ever vote? Y'know, he was my main suspicion all day, and for someone to basically come in to say "I see nothing suspicious" and then avoid the poll entirely? Come on, mate. I see you lurking even now, and you're still not involved. THAT is where my vote should go but let's move on for now.
SVS and Daisy are the stragglers on that train, and I don't even remember why they voted for Vomps to begin with.
JJJ/Epi feud is cute. Im sorry you're having comp troubles. Welcome to MafiaPhoneLand! Where it takes 5 minutes to highlight that particular sentence you want to underline!
Your red peek/not red peek/lol peek was some strange tactic, and I see arguments for both alignments. What I DONT like is how WIFOMY you have been this phase. Shit like, "if I were bad I wouldn't kill sig", or "if I were bad, what purpose would I have in making fake claims?" Is not a good look for you, especially, JJJ. It's a sloppy way for -you- to play, let alone a JoBloMafiaPlayer.
Question: Why am I looking bad to you?
GMan: I saw you said I looked "twitchy" or something day 1. That's the gist I got as to why you were trying to start a train on me. I don't know what defines twitchy, but I'll take that as a compliment. Id rather be twitchy than lax and lazy, tbh. What is your current stance on me, and what do you think of the other people laying low right now?
Epi: you're an enigma. I said so truthfully when we both were bad before, and I say it again. I can't read you. But I see no fault in your going after me for assuming I am putting on airs for my day 1 shenanigans. I don't blame you for that assumption, and I'm not gonna lie- I'm not gonna stop doing what I normally do on day 1 regardless of my alignment. I figure I'll get lynched far less frequently and I'll avoid NK's as well on the first day. That's my hope anyway.
Something Epi said in Mafia chat during the office (or maybe it was LoRab?) is the theory that Mafia are far more likely to start trains than pile on, so I wouldn't rule out Elo or rabbit as potential Mafia mates.
Rabbit: why DID you vote for Vomps? I don't remember seeing an answer to that.
Elo: you seem more involved in this game than previous ones. Epi said you were more inclined to be preoccupied during games which is why you avoid the big jobs. This game you seem...eager, I guess? Dunno if there's anything to read from that.
Wilgy: was the other person who "peeked" day 1. Said INH was green. Wilgy, did you get any more "peeks" today? Was yours a one-time thing? Are you just a liar liar pants on fire? Do you believe in love?
INH: where are you.
I'm voting Polo right now, mostly because I saw him on here and he hasn't posted anything of note.
Gotta run: Ill check back on Saturday. I'm sorry I don't have the time to post more, I'll give what I can. my gf comes in from out of town tonight and I haven't seen her in over 3 months. Gotta prepare, and I've got shows all weekend, plus sightseeing all next week. Again, trying not to get replacement and if I absolutely have to request one, I will so the game doesn't suffer
I have caught up, but am not referencing specific posts right now cause I have 45 minutes. Thoughts in general as they come:JaggedJimmyJay wrote:Scotty, your Day1phobia is no longer applicable. What are your reads on every player?
That's my hope anyway.

im sorry y'all, today's been super busy and its opening night tonight for my show so the timing couldn't be worse.
I skimmed the thread just now- RIP Vomps, I'm not sorry I voted that way- i take responsibility for that vote.
I see a bunch of people are talking about me, but I don't have time to respond right now.
If I die tonight, that would be lol so whatever, not much I can do. But I'll get to answering people with their nose up my butt tomorrow when I have a free moment.

You would be able to read people in that sense better than me. But I still contend that our methods are different and not wrong. Not that I know what my meta is, though. If someone could fill me in, that'd be helpful for next time I'm feeling frisky.

My day 1 is much more voting for someone that is not participatory and doesn't seem to take issue about it, not just how they usually act. As such, Vomps and Polo are my suspicions right now.
If the President of the United States was playing and was just like "hey guys, nah I don't feel like talking because there's nothing to talk about, PEACE" I would vote him faster than you can say Wilkes Booth.

This looks like it came out of the insanifier.
Polo is the standard issue bottom-tier content guy that's in every game. In my experience, that's not a strong indicator that someone is bad. He could be, but I have no clue. Vompatti has at least shown evidence that he cares about receiving votes (which I wouldn't anticipate from him in his town body), and he also contributed to the awful no lynch wagon.

Why would the real cop be the first to come out with a peek expecting more to follow suit? If you're opinion of coming out was predicated so much on "getting cover" why even come out at all? You can't just assume everyone will start breadcrumbing and playing with your style of play. The first person to come out with a peek is already the one that will be getting the mafia's eye anyway.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:I don't agree. I think some of you need to provide me with some freaking cover. I understand that claiming and infodumping are weird things in this environment, but that's the game we're playing. See, fake claims can be useful..but they can also be quite a clusterfox. I would strongly suggest curtailing the peeks. Anyone does that after this is going to look very fishy to me, even if they ARE the real cop. Them's the breaks
I probably wouldn't have revealed my n0 peek if I'd realized there'd be so little cover for me here and so much trepidation about the information I'm putting forth. Spare me your fright, y'all! This ain't your pappie's full game. We're on my turf now.Spoiler: show

Also you're not the cop since I know both you and JJJ aren't cops. There is no world were either of you are cops, I do however know what JJJ is doing with saying I was his peek. Or a random villager got a random peek which does happen in some games. Either way JJJ isn't the cop.

Day 1 #8
Is there anything particularly surprising about sig's response?
As for my feelings on JJJ. I am not paying too much attention to his claims. I don't think we can put too much weight on it yet. Players claim things all the time (whether it be about themselves or others) that may or may not be true. I'm not too concerned. It could go like this:
1. he is the cop. Yay, he can help us find mafia.
2. he is not the cop, but the real cop is too scared to come forth b/c he might get nightkilled so we keep on thinking he's the cop
3. he's not the cop, but the real cop calls him out on it (but who's to say that the player who calls him out on it is the real cop. maybe the player who calls him out is just concerned that JJJ IS the real cop and is afraid the mafia will kill him, so he claims to be cop as a distraction to the mafia)
4. Maybe there is no damn cop in this game so we all go on thinking JJJ must be the cop.
There is way too much speculation that can happen on this subject, so I say
sig's response was calm and collected. this makes me think he is civ.
@ sig - I am not sure who else I am considering. I think it will partly depend on scotty's response to this post
I agree that those are the scenarios for JJJ, but which of 1-4 do you believe JJJ is doing?
As for sig...I keep going back to what he said in a past game: if he appears civ, he is probably bad, so lynch him. When he is obviously bad, he's probably good.
I don't know how that translates to this game, but I'm not pushing it since I'm still playing along with the scenario that JJJ is in fact the cop.

You know, when JJJ advised us to go check Arrested Development, I seem to remember you doing the same thing. You came out giving a green peek to Sloonei, and you yourself were bad that game. Is history repeating itself, ehr Doctor?DrWilgy wrote:You ready for this meme?sig wrote:post 6

There are a few problems with this:

How does the doctor (if there is one) know who to protect? In your game, JJJ, there was no doctor afaik. So I suppose the multiple peek show worked for that game. However:
2 of the 5 "peek"ers were actually Mafia.
At this point, if you are not the cop, then you're either a ballsy civ or a double ballsy Mafia. If no one else claims peek, the straightforwardness helps us because as far as we know, you are cop. Which clears dog

But aren't these little games much more simple?insertnamehere wrote:I'm not sure of his alignment in this crazy closed set up, but he's done enough to make my eyebrow twitch.rabbit8 wrote:insertnamehere wrote:The reason why I find 3J suspicious is because he seems to be doing the same sort of thing that I did in that game, where I was a chaos independent.Epignosis wrote:insertnamehere wrote:All of these imaginary systems that he just keeps coming up with just seem like him posturing to where he can come up with some justification to lynch just about anyone. You do realize that, as of this post, your comment suggests that 8+1 of us are more likely to be bad than the remaining 5? That's a net so wide it's silly. Why not just say everyone not named JJJ is more likely to be bad? Or were you being cheeky there?JaggedJimmyJay wrote:Negative marks to everyone in single digit posts. I've created a program that goes into every poster's game history, specifically games where they were bad, and sees what their top phrases or words are. It then contrasts those with the top words or phrases from a persons post history when they were good. It then eliminates the words that were on both lists, leaving us with that person's tells. After that, it goes into this thread, and sees how many times someone uses words or phrases identified as tells. The higher that number is, the more likely chance you are to be bad. This was a bitch to make, and it's something I've worked on for a long time, a bit of a pet project if you will.
Now, of course, because of the limited sample size, the program is more likely to be incorrect these first few days, but, as more and more people post, I know more and more about their role.
To summarize, I'm the NSA now, bitches.
You think JJJ is independent or bad? I don't know is Chaos Independent was a role or alignment.
My role in that game was Media, who gained powers everytime her name was mentioned. These powers completely disrupted and detailed the thread. That's why I called her a "chaos independent."

Re: [Day 1] Triskaidekaphobia Mafia
So JJJ says he peeked dog, huh? Well isn't that sumthin? If JJJ is bad cop, we're right screwed. I'm going to choose to believe him right now. Though sig has been noticeably absent. Hmmm
JJJ why are you voting Polo? I know why I was gonna vote Polo, but you've been precariously mum on yours.
I'm voting Vompatti right now. He wants a no-lynch because lulz, and I'm not buying it.

Re: [Day 0] Triskaidekaphobia Mafia
Remember it resets every phase. You are currently at 4 btw!S~V~S wrote:This multiples of 4 thing is a bitch. Right now I have 12, multiple of 4. Now I need to make 2 posts to get out of that so I can go watch the convention. Cause this will be post 13. So again sorry for the multis. One more to come.
Also I see that everyone has checked in. So today I'll be evaluating low posters, unless you guys start blowing chunks everywhere.
Peace.

Re: [Day 0] Triskaidekaphobia Mafia
I've already answered this. I can't help if you, GMan and JJJ find it suspicious. But good to know you think that post is also the first suspicious post of the game.S~V~S wrote:In our original home cultures, Day 1 votes have, for the most part, generally been srs bsns. Someone is gonna die based on our votes, how not srs? People always tended to take flak for trivial voting reasons, randomizing, etc.Elohcin wrote:This is very interesting to me. I love to hear about how things go on other sites, even though I don't plan on ever playing anywhere other than here. I can only imagine how I would be grilled for voting someone Day 1 just because I didn't like their name or had a certain dream about them. Of course there is the occasional random vote on Day 1 here, but it always seem sot be a controversial issue. And it's usually professed as "random", not excused with a silly explanation.Scotty wrote:
This isn't anything new, but it's very intriguing to me. In so many other sites and venues the day 1 is literally random. Like, literally in the sense that in a group, most the time people will vote for someone based on a dream they had, or not liking the name of a person, or what have you. But this site especially has a weird way of dogpiling on someone that has a certain air if suspicion for doing something out of the ordinary. It's always amazing to me that votes on the first day are so justified here. I can't recall the last time I went back to day 1 conversations to get a confirmation of a tonal read on someone. Only to look at votes and who voted for whom, and when.
@G-Man, yeah, I always tend to get a residual baddie BTS effect the next few games, lol. Oddly, it tends to effect me the opposite way, I tend to want to trust my bad partner from a recent intense game like BSG was.In my opinion, too, tbh.Scotty wrote:In your opinion.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:I didn't invite a self-lynch. In what world would that benefit town if you are town?
I understood clearly what Jay was saying. I am not sure how you would interpret it otherwise?
My current propensity is to vote Polo today, unless he shows up.

Re: [Day 0] Triskaidekaphobia Mafia
You know, this got me thinking- how do day 1 conversations take off? Someone making a bold statement? Someone disagreeing with principles? It always just seems to flow organically, but I'm never sure of how or why.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:Disagreement is not the same as shutting down. "Getting the game moving" does not necessarily translate to civ behavior, mind you. I would hope everyone just likes to talk about things having to do with the game. Hell, I have no filter so I just talk about whatever's goin on in my head, regardless of my alignment. Gets me into trouble a lot, but whatever. Until we get to a day 1 flip, I don't think the game has taken off.
Blah blah blah shut up Scotty.
Also this is my 19th post, which is a good number.
