Re: Arkham Mafia [ENDGAME]
Not that anyone probably cares to hear from me at this point but thank you all (and particularly our hosts) for allowing me to play. It appears that I was correct about Zebs all along and my faith in my friend Golden wasn't misplaced. Congratulations to the winners and I hope you all have many more enjoyable games like this one for a long, long time to come

Re: Arkham Mafia [Day 8]
And there you have it. I told the truth all along...
After the last couple of weeks, I don't intend at this point to follow this game any further. Consequently, I'd like to thank our hosts now for all the hard work they've done to keep this game going - you've done an incredible job guys! I'd like to thank those of you who supported me and believed in me throughout this game but sadly, that'd be a very short list. I wish my team all the best - I hope you guys win in the end despite my contribution.
I'd like to say this has been lots of fun but it really hasn't been. I haven't lied to any of you once all game and I don't intend to start now. I haven't enjoyed playing this game and I've come to realise that I don't like the person I am when I'm playing. I intend now to take a break from Mafia and from this site specifically for a long, long time. Maybe one day in the distant future when I become comfortable being duplicitous and cynical of the motivations of others, when I become insensitive and careless of the respect that I currently feel I owe all of you, I'll return and we can play again. It won't be as Glorfindel however (so feel free to delete my account) - you lynched him and there's clearly no place for someone like him on this site. Farewell!

Re: Arkham Mafia [Day 8]
At no point in this game have I insulted any of you, my fellow players and I find that accusation perhaps the most insulting of all. Then again, I'll confess that it hardly surprises me at this point.LoRab wrote:Unless Cop #2 is corrupted, that is. Right?Matt wrote:Hardcore![]()
Unless he flips Cop # 2, though, I think town made a good call today.
Wow...30 games and this is allegedly the worst mislynch you've seen? Insulting us for thinking you are suspicious is not the way to convince us of your innocence, tbqh.Glorfindel wrote:Alright, I have some things I want to say at this point. I've played probably about 30+ games now across four sites and what I'm seeing right now is in all likelihood (given we are well into this game and it's not Day 1 anymore) the worst mislynch that has occurred in any of them. All the cases that have been brought against me have been some of the weakest I've seen in my experience and despite demanding continuously for my accusers to elaborate on those cases (e.g. Star Wars vs this game) I've been given nothing. As I've said previously, whether you vote for me because you judge me to be bad or vote for Bubbles because you judge me to be bad says infinitely more about all of you than it does about me. I have in my view, done all that I reasonably could to fulfill my role in this game but in the end the avalanche of suspicion that has fallen upon me is something about which I can do very little.
As a committed member of our team, I'm going to place my vote where I think it belongs. Some of you may know more about what's going on in this game than I but for me, I think S-V-S's case on me has from the very beginning been a work of fiction. She's pushed that argument ever since and seems to have found enough people gullible enough to believe it. I think her self-voting (despite her stated reasons for doing so) is bad. If she is Town, I'd see that as an irresponsible and self indulgent act and question her loyalty to our Team.
I'd also like to put on record my gut-wrenching disappointment at one of my fellow players whom I have come to respect deeply who apparently has found it so easy to disregard what they know to be true and abandon me to the point where they no longer care about my lynching. It's a pretty bitter pill to swallow and although this is a game, I'm still bitterly disappointed about that.
As for this game and my part in it, I think you guys are going to hopefully take some lessons from it. One being Matt's Two-Face theory on me. That defied all logic from the time that he made that post yet, many of you still bought it. For the sake of all of you, my Team, I hope you can still pull this one out of the fire.

And SVS doesn't make up suspicion, whether she is good or bad. It's just not something she does. So, that argument against her doesn't work for me. She may well end up bad, but that doesn't make sense to me as an argument against her.
And again, please stop insulting the other players on this site. It makes you look like a baddie.

I'm sorry, my friend. The fact that you were sticking up for me despite next to no one else doing so made me feel supported and really good despite the circumstances in which I found myself. I wouldn't ask or expect you to ever stick up for me ever again so your conscience can rest easy.Golden wrote:@glorf - I don't like the things you level at me. Re: Arkham Mafia [Day 8]
I said a day or so ago that I was committed to my Team and would be to the end. I recognise my responsibility to them to do everything in my power to secure a win for our Team. As things stand right now, I don't believe there is any point to me continuing to post in this thread as it has become apparent to me that there is not a single person playing (with the possible exception of Bubbles) who is prepared to accept that I may be innocent. There has been some suggestion made this morning of a link between Bubbles' alignment and mine. I can assure you that there is no truth to this assumption whatsoever.
My point here is that as I see it, no one is listening (in truth, many of you stopped listening long ago). My issue is that you are all being deceived and there is nothing that I can do to convince any of you otherwise - but as I say, that's MY issue. You are going to believe what you want and at the end of the day, you will bear the consequences of the choices you make. I'm pretty satisfied that I've done everything in my power albeit to no avail. I think I'll be leaving this in your hands now. Vote for me. Vote for Bubbles. The choice is yours. If any of you realise the error of your ways before it's too late, let me know and if I'm able, I'll return to support you however I can. Good luck, Guys!

OK, I confess - this really hurt. I've no idea of Bubbles' alignment and the fact that either way you'd link her alignment to mine over your own gut-read is frankly bitterly disappointing.Golden wrote:IF bubbles is bad... and not the last member of her team.
THEN I will think I've been wrong about you.
Because bubbles vote did look like an attempted save.
At this point, I'm not voting for Bubbles based solely on the fact that she defended me. If you can come up with something more conclusive, I'd consider it but until then I can't see that lynching her will necessarily prove anything at all.

1) What you meant by "I think I've been wrong about Glorfindel all along." And
2) Precisely what you think lynching Bubbles will achieve?

I'd like to think that (in that respect) there would be a perceptible similarity between my performance and my Pikmin game. I've explained ad nauseum to you that the post to which you refer was 'crafted' the way it was out of respect for my fellow players. It's much the same thing that we've just witnessed with Matt and Golden and that ridiculous Two-Face accusation that has been leveled at me. The fact that Matt interpreted that 'data' he collected in the way he did, in an unbalanced way illustrates well the struggle that I'm having with this game right now in that his first assumption was that I was bad and he interpreted my posts in that way.S~V~S wrote:Between work, and Admin-y things, I have spent all of my Mafia time here. Glorfindel, you did say you would vote for SVS and she did ask for your reasons. Why, especially after she couldn't find anything in your posts, did you ignore her request for a link?S~V~S wrote:
And I appreciate it when I would not even defend myself that day. I really had just thrown my hands up and said, "Fine, I'll show them" that day, and I appreciate you putting in the effort for me. Yesterday was different. Yesterday the self vote was more of a pressure vote. I wanted to see who would put their money where their mouth was. Golden keeps saying, "I don't know why SVS thinks I am gonna vote for her". Well, I was his main topic of discussion, every post where he mentioned me he mentioned some form of "bad", for starters. And Glorfindel (writing "Glor or Glorf" seems disrespectful to the High Elven, lol) clearly stated he was going to vote for me. I asked 3 tumes for his reasons, finally he said, search my posts. And I did and I could not find it, and asked him to link me to it two or three times, and he ignored me,even though he replied to posts both before & after mine.. Basically for two reasons:
1. I didn't understand what she meant. If she wanted me to copy my post (please refer point 2). If she was expecting something else, I don't know what she expected or how to perform that operation on this site.
2. Given that my post was within a single page of her post, I considered her request vexatious,
I'm happy to cooperate with anyone who shares my desire to have this game turn out right but I'm harbouring grave doubts that S-V-S truly does. I note my question to MP remains unaddressed, I know he probably hasn't been around all that much but out of courtesy, I expect a reply when he does.
Can you please link me to it? I was not trying to be vexatious. And tbh, ignoring people because you find them annoying does not make you look more civvie.
Glorfindel wrote:OK, thanks for the consideration of allowing me to address my technical issues. I'm afraid Dom that I could not reply to you earlier. My keyboard gave up the ghost and would only work intermittently and it took ages to type anything. I was at work on a break when I sent that last message and as much as I'd have wanted to reply to you, it simply wasn't going to happen - I appreciate your patience.
Basically, I agree with what's been said already - the well of newer players being Mafia has dried up. On the law of averages, you'd have to assume that there are one or two more experienced players involved as part of the Mafia families.
On that note, some time ago I was playing a Mafia game where (as Town) I'd concocted this theory on the guilt of one of my fellow players based on their use of certain punctuation in their posts. I was absolutely convinced of their guilt and put my case to the rest of the players in that game. Needless to say I got laughed out of town and rightly so, I was completely wrong. Now please don't misunderstand me here - I fully respect the ability of each and everyone of you, my fellow players and in particular S-V-S. I know we had that run-in early on over my post that you thought was too carefully worded. I think that case was pretty thin (more so than the one I described above) and what's more, it was wrong.
I found your argument with Golden interesting and for better or worse, I think his judgement is pretty good from all accounts (after all, you don't win all those Socky's for nothing). And then, in the dying shadows of dawn, you started accusing me again. You said that you would vote for me because I am not direct in answering questions - and that may be true. I do the best I can to contribute fully and respect each and everyone of you in the face (sometimes) of some considerable provocation. You would do well not to misjudge me for that.
In terms of my vote right now, I think it will be S-V-S. I have an open mind and if someone comes up with a better case before tomorrow morning, I'll happily consider it.

Why haven't I addressed your switch up on me Matt? I'm sorry to disappoint you but I haven't been sitting here for the last week ruminating over the eccentricities of your behaviour and voting preferences. You made mention a day or so ago of your suspicions of MP and TH and I asked you for more information. You ignored my request. Forgive me then if I am left to question your commitment to this game and and the Town team.Matt wrote:Lol. Dom's not gonna like that.Glorfindel wrote:It's a damn sight more than a possibility my friend, I can promise you that!
Btw, you haven't addressed my switch up on you and why I don't think you're a bad lynch.
Let me clarify...
I've been thinking, "Why would a player drop hints to being Two-Face?" The only answer I can come up with, is that you're mafia, and you dropped hints for Two-Face so later down the line if you were suspected, you could use that as a quasi-defense on why not to be lynched. Unfortunately for you, I caught it early, and said something before you could.
Either way, the amount of references to two you made before I called you out is astounding, and even if you are Two-Face, a cop needs you dead soooooo yeah.
I agree with MP btw. I think you're the cool beans, Glorfy, and I hope you're havin' a fun time here at Syndicate!
Why would a player drop hints to being Two-Face? Sadly, there's other options there that you haven't considered. They are that the whole Two-Face theory is the product of either an over-active imagination or a malicious and devious mind. The truth is that one of those options is fact and in time the rest of the Town Team will find out which.

I may be being stupid and have a blind spot with him. But don't blame me if he actually does come back cop. I think it's a distinct possibility.

Indeed Juliets did comment on it Typh and from my recollection her conclusion was that that there was no substantial similarity between my posts here and Star Wars. And yes, given that, I'd be very interested to consider your take on what specially led you to conclude that there was a similarity. Thanks.Typhoony wrote:Even though I appreciate the thought, I did not take it this way my friend.Glorfindel wrote: Sorry, Typh - that last remark was not intended as a criticism of you at all - just a general observation.

Re: Arkham Mafia [Day 7]
MP, your post disappoints me greatly. There are a number of things you've said there that are incidental to the outcome of this game that I will address later down the track. Let me say for now that it is difficult to not look like you're constantly defending yourself when you are subject to sustained false accusations as I have been by those of you who insist on making unsubstantiated claims about my playstyle being similar to that of Star Wars (where I was Mafia). Despite that, I have been doing my best (and spent considerable time and energy) to analyse other player's post. But then no one notices although whether that is deliberate and convenient who knowsMovingPictures07 wrote:Glorf, sorry I haven't answered this before now. I've been swamped hosting another game among many other things.Glorfindel wrote:@MP - my friend, you have gone from defending me at one point saying something to the effect that you would look suspiciously upon anyone who voted for me to advocating my lynching - and all of this seemingly based on a comparison between my playstyle in Star Wars and this game. I'm asking you now to explain what it is precisely that you identified in that comparison to lead you to such an apparent about face - it must surely have been something conclusive to have led you to such a change of heart.MovingPictures07 wrote:No problem, bud!
If you all disagree with me, that's totally fine with me; I'd be happy with a lynch of someone active too, particularly Glorfindel (he's increasingly seeming like his Star Wars self, and his lack of hunting is not convincing me otherwise) and sprityo (though, like others have speculated, it's very possible he's an inmate who's won). I just thought I'd throw my hat in the ring again this time for another inactive lynch. I may or may not go the same way tomorrow though. Just gotta see when I'll have some time to actually put more than a half-assed effort in the game at this point, since hosting is taking up a bunch of time.
I did say that I would view anyone who bandwagoned onto you and didn't discuss anyone else a few cycles ago with suspicion, yes. But since then, the game has developed, and I still have yet to see any real town-minded effort from you with regards to discussing suspects and actual hunting; rather, you seem way more interested in defending yourself over and over again, but by telling us how you're an obvious townie and trying to play off of emotional posts, rather than show us posts where you have exhibited town-minded hunting behavior.
I rightfully view that with suspicion.

1) Batman: *Secrets
2) Renee Montoya (potentially): There is nothing in the role index to suggest that she can't silence herself but I doubt that would be likely as she could simply feign being muted and who would know?
3) The Joker: *Secrets
4) The Riddler: *Secrets
5) Bane: *Secrets
And that's it really. I can't see any others. The roles with *Secret abilities are very much unknown quantities but it's not beyond the realm of possibility that the Joker and the Riddler could target themselves to appear as victims that have been targeted and so allay suspicions of their identity

Finally! Someone who I think gets what I'm trying to say... You're correct too, I think - if you're Mafia, you hardly want to find yourself up against a 'Mac' or a 'Dom' or a 'TH' (or yes, even a 'Matt'DFaraday wrote:I kind of get what Glorfindel is saying. Players like Mac, Golden, and MP are typically the most vocal players, and tend to spearhead lynches and the general direction of the thread. If a baddie team wants to manipulate the thread it would make sense to take out players who might lead a lynch on them. I don't think that's a reason to suspect any of those players are bad though.
Glorf, why do you suspect Typh? I feel like he hasn't been trying to help the civ cause very much, but I haven't seen anything specifically suspicious about him.
I still think one of the Mac voters is probably bad. Aside from SVS, whom I still think could be bad, I'll look over the others tomorrow.

As for Typhoony, I look over his posts this game (I think he has marginally more than I do) but like MM, it's difficult to recall any part he's played in the game. Look more closely at his posts and you see much the same as was the case with MM. Lot's of one liners, nothing too controversial, votes with little if any justification, throwing out the odd question now and then... I'd like too look at it a little more closely but that was my general first (and second) impression. If I wanted to fly under the radar this game as Mafia, I think that's exactly what I would've done.

Re: Arkham Mafia [Day 8]
No, my friend. I'm saying the Mafia are making strategic choices. In one of the first games I played, we got to rather late in the game where a similar thing had happened - all of the less vocal and influential players had been killed off. The reason was that the Mafia were all very experienced players. If they'd removed the more influential players they would've been exposed and I get a sense that is what I'm seeing here (no offence to MM and SorshaLoRab wrote:I'm confused by this post. Some of you (e.g. yourself, DH, MP and many others) would've I thought, made first rate NK choices by a Mafia team and yet, they've not taken out any really vocal and as I say influential players - I think that is indicative and what Matt has been trying to tell us the last few Days. Indeed, my friend. Golden suspected me earlier in the game but has since expressed reservations about the case against me (assuming one could stretch one's imagination far enough to call it a case) and rightly so. I don't believe that his posts suggest remotely that he is hostile to our cause and I respect him for his judgement. Instead of attacking him for being 'bad' you'd do well to listen to him because from what I've seen so far, his judgements are far more prudent than what I've seen from others in this game.Typhoony wrote:So I vote Golden and his teammate Glorfindel starts saying I'm bad.
And you're REALLY suggesting that we're Mafia team mates? In what world precisely is that even a likelihood? That would be the most disingenuous tactic ever employed in a game of Mafia and simply beggars belief.

Well, you're partly correct there S-V-S, Typhoony certainly doesn't write long elaborate posts but my point is that this game I don't see any content there either. His posts this game epitomise everything of which I have been falsely accused (no cases for lynching, no hunting and as far as I'm concerned, no credibility). The fact that you believe you can see "what needs to be said" in his posts frankly astounds me.S~V~S wrote:Typhoony does not write long elaborate posts, true. But he says what has to be said. So basically I dared the people who suspected me to vote for me. And DH did it becasue DH actually in his heart thinks I am bad. And I can respect that. He is wrong, but he has the courage of his convictions. He made his case, he thought I did not answer him adequately, I said alot of "C'mon lynch me you'll be sorry", and he said fuck that. And he voted for me. Good for him.
Golden & Glorfindel didn't becasue they don't really believe it, imo. They are bad.
As it turned out, there was little point in placing my vote on you at the point I posted. I wasn't 100% sold on you being bad at the time but you're firming those odds everytime you wrongly accuse me. I am not Mafia, I am Town. I believe as I've said before Golden is at least not Mafia and if he's not Town, I think he's still on our side. If you genuinely are Town, I suggest you need to reassess your lynch choices.

Because it is false and parroting an unsubstantiated opinion is nothing more than a sorry attempt to divert attention away from the questions That I asked MP earlier today. I asked him to justify his opinion and I think that's entirely reasonable question. A question that I now think deserves an answer not more avoidance.S~V~S wrote:Why is it irrelevant?Glorfindel wrote:Thank you MP for that utterly irrelevant assessment of my post. Re: Arkham Mafia [Day 7]
I swear, I don't know what you expect of me DH. I AM trying and will continue to. I still don't get a bad feeling about you at all but I am frustrated by your apparently inability to even consider the possibility that I am being truthful. As I said earlier, I feel increasingly uneasy about Sprityo and his behaviour so on this occasion, I'll support this lynch. I hope I'm right - you seem like a really nice guy Sprityo and if I'm wrong, I'm genuinely sorry.Turnip Head wrote:A sprityo lynch feels like the easiest thing we could possibly do, but hey look how the Floyd lynch turned out. Voting for Glorfy. If he's civ I want him to stop telling me that he's town and SHOW me that he's town.

With every post I am finding it increasingly hard to believe you are not bad yourself. This is a case in point from what I'd said earlier. Where is the case for this? Re: Arkham Mafia [Day 7]
I'm sorry my friend, you have that wrong. The case for my lynching as proposed by MP, Typhoony now, et al has (as far as I can see) been solely not the basis of similarity of tone between My Star Wars game and this with only Juliets (as far as I recall stating that she couldn't see it - which given from the perspective of an outsider in that game I think says volumes). My point here is that it is others that have launched that argument, not me. It isn't true and I'm not going to sit idly by and have that untruth perpetuated unchallenged.S~V~S wrote:Also, you keep trying to reconstrue the points of the suspicion against you into being about your tone in here vs. Star Wars.
I really think it is about your content in this thread. From the time I thought you were being super selective about what you said regarding trusting Zebra and distrusting Matt, I have had you in the back of my mind. That had nothing to do with your tone, although you also tried at that time to say it was about your politeness and tone, and again, it was your content.
I did trust Zebs. She is someone I fancy I can read rather well and while I no longer am of the view that she was Town, I do still feel that she in whatever way, was on our side. My feelings about Matt were based (at the time) on his relentless and unproductive attacks on Zebs. I've changed my view of him since. He appears to have set himself in opposition to MP and TH. I suspect that one side of that argument is suspect - I'm still struggling to work out in my own mind which it is and Matt is not being terribly helpful though I doubt that it's his fault right now.
I accept your concerns about my content in the post to which you referred but let me ask YOU - do you feel that my posts since then have been any different? I am concerned that you have been looking at that one post in isolation and not in the context of my playstyle generally.

Re: Arkham Mafia [Day 7]
Not necessarily, my friend. Firstly, let me say that I'm unsure what you were asking of me earlier. You asked for why I would vote for you without stating any of Golden's case? I've already done that less than a couple of pages ago - you're welcome to go back and read it for yourself. I've slept on this vote overnight and I'm now considering if there might be better options this Day phase. As I've said earlier, I am feeling bad vibes over the Sprityo thing right now so my vote for you is by no means locked in at this point.S~V~S wrote:Good Luck with that

Re: Arkham Mafia [Day 7]
@MP - my friend, you have gone from defending me at one point saying something to the effect that you would look suspiciously upon anyone who voted for me to advocating my lynching - and all of this seemingly based on a comparison between my playstyle in Star Wars and this game.

Re: Arkham Mafia [Day 7]
Dom, if you feel like I'm being hostile toward you, I am sorry. I am trying to be more direct in my posts now because I seem to be experiencing some difficulty in getting my points across. If I appear at all defensive it's because my elimination from this game cannot be good for my team. I don't of course know who of you out there is on my team (although I have a pretty good sense of it in some cases) but I don't see removing a fellow Townie from the game as being in our best interests, If I were an independent, I'd not care remotely as much and wouldn't be putting in the effort I am now to avert an outcome that will only favour our opponents.Dom wrote:I have a few points about this:Glorfindel wrote: You can deny it all you like Dom but your mind was made up. Your most recent post (above) proves that in spades. You've twisted circumstances (such as my availability and legitimate issues I was experiencing) to give credibility to a case that is frankly non-existent. I offerred my G2H reads and I gave them. I've done my best to support my lynch choices with some semblance of arguments but that has not any point been sufficient to quell your suspicions of me. Others have not cooperated with you anywhere near as much as I have and where is your scrutiny of them? As I said earlier, nothing I could say is ever going to convince you. I trust the remainder of the Town can exercise a little logic and objectivity for the vote this Day phase.
1) You've changed your tune from saying that you are grateful for my consideration and cooperation to saying that I am "twisitng circumstances" You only care that I stop pursuing you, not that I find a baddie.
2) I have other suspicions, so don't erase that. I am very suspicious of sprit who has done nothing to cooperate with me.
3) I have brought up and agree with many points against you that you are not even beginning to mention here:
--"obvious civvie"
--Playing the n00b card saying everyone's out to get you because you're new
Glorf, you have taken a quite hostile tone with me. Why?
As for your 'other suspicions' I share them too. While I didn't have a problem with Sprityo earlier, I am now concerned at his behaviour this Day phase and would consider him as an option for my vote. As far as your point three goes, you should forgive me for what I see as a significant number of more experienced players getting a 'free ride'. Take Matt for example. He made a statement towards the end of the last Day phase referencing his suspicions on TH and MP. I asked for him to elaborate and I can't recall a single 'on topic' post from him since. Meanwhile, someone makes a statement to the effect that my playstyle is reminiscent of my Star Wars performance (without any obvious level of analysis to justify the claim) and people who weren't even in Star Wars accept that.

You spent four paragraphs avoiding my question and then answered it in two. You also switched between addressing myself and SVS throughout the post, thus making it even less substantial of a response. You just say you will vote SVS, but don't give a reason. I've gone back and found very little on your suspicions, especially since you've started taking heat. You have struggled to come up with lynch candidates as alternatives to yourself. There was a significant delay in your answer to my question and the answer didn't really give a full response.Glorfindel wrote:I've side-stepped nothing my friend. You asked me to nominate for whom I will vote and I've answered your question. I've tried to give you (and others) insight to my thinking on this matter (with plenty of notice prior to the EoD for your consideration). It is apparent to me that your mind is made up about me Dom and I promise you that you're wrong. I doubt there is anything I can say to change your mind but I trust my fellow Town colleagues will not fall so blindly for the poor excuse of a case against me as you have.Dom wrote:Side stepping my question for four paragraphs and then spending two sentences answering my question is one way to make me think you don't really want to answer my question.Glorfindel wrote:OK, thanks for the consideration of allowing me to address my technical issues.
So, no, don't turn this around on me and say I've made up my mind. You made up my mind.
