Hey all,

The Tempest is still looking for a couple of players if anyone finds they have the time and are interested. Granted you can always work with another department, but right now were still looking for an Engineer and a Helmsman/Flight Operations officers.

We meet Saturday's at 1900-2000 Pacific, 2200-2300 East, we generally try and meet 10 minutes prior in case there is anything that needs to be gone over, and we debrief for about 10 minutes after. This is conducted over an IRC chat room, and we can provide you with a few options to connect using IRC.

We also welcome walk in players, people who can't fully commit to a time slot but want to show up from time to time and play when they have the time.

Went ahead and updated the Captain's logs on the site since its been a while.

The Tempest/Odyssey Station is still moving along strong. Were still looking for a few more people to fill the ranks, we need a Helmsman, and Chief Engineer if you find yourself interested in trying out.

We still meet Saturday's at 1850 with a Start time of 1900 and run until 2000 Pacific Time. We play over MIRC Chat on a platform called Mibbit.

I've been kind of bad about keeping the logs up to date here, I apologize. I''ve gotten them caught up as far as posting them. I will try and keep them up to date more often here so everyone can see that the RP is still alive and running. 8-) It's been a great road, we past 52 Sessions a few sessions ago. We've expanded our crew a bit over the last year growing from just what we had here to nearly a full crew albeit not always present. LOL

Okay, I had not realized that I was that far behind in posting my logs on here. Sorry about that ya'll. Once I finish this weeks log I"ll be all caught up.

Just a quick couple of things:

1.) CJ's going to be primarily posting information and updates over on the ST:AB forums so if you have questions or concerns please ensure you've got an account signed in over there and check the OOC channel under the Odyssey board for info.

2.) They are starting to put together a club handbook I would suggest reading it to make sure were falling within the guildlines they are putting in place, primarily in regards to language. LOL Some of us can be bad.

3.) I spoke to CJ there is going to be about a 2 week time frame change between our last sim and the next one that were picking up. I would encourage you to write some logs to cover the passage of time. To that end here are some considerations:

I spoke to Cj about the Proposal to join the True Fed as a covert deal and he said that's a no-go. LOL Which is what I figured he might say so that could certainly be a character development for Sully and Johnny's character.

You can use this time to talk about having touched base with old friends, family, etc. As CJ said, not everyone's gone. LOL

I would also suggest maybe trying to work together over the next few days to do "Joint post/logs" you can see the one that Annie just posted on the ST:AB forums that the two of us did as an example. I'm open to doing them, and I may be looking to try and do one myself with Sully.

So consider that nothing super eventful has happened during our transit to Starbase 313.

This is a great opportunity to write and do some character development behind the scenes.

4.) Our next Sim will pick up with us having already been at Starbase 313 where we were heading for Evaluations.

As your aware the group is using their own version of a Stardate so go ahead and use that. But for the purpose of grounding us with a Calendar date the last sim took place on December 7, 2396, which puts our next sim picking up sometime around we can call it December 22, 2396. So you have that time frame in which to work with in your logs/joint posts.

Have some fun. I'm going to provide you guys with some info via PM to help foster additional lines of communications.

Great sim last night ya'll. Sorry I had to cut out, but I had my D&D group here waiting on me to start. Were playing every other Saturday so it wont interfere with me hanging out late as needed every other weeked at least. I greatly appreciate your understanding.

As far as those people, they all had an impact in my life in some way. For better or worse. Up until the end of TOL Penny and I were pretty good friends. I really liked Robin. She was a great person and a great simmers back in the day. I loved collaborating with her on things. She had a great mind. LOL But yes, Chas might have inhabited my ass for a bit. Because he's Chas. LOL

Since you guys helped essentially build and decide on the ship if you would like me to put your name or an Alias in there for you, let me know. Cant really be a character per say. But I can put something in there for you. Just PM me and let me know what you want put in.

Thank you for posting the log, unfortunately it stopped logging after a point. So it's kind a cut off part way through. But that helps.

Okay so an update of sorts -
Assuming ST:AB goes with 2397 as their date of choice to pick up the rest of the group, we wont have much if any jumping around to do. So no crazy blank spots to worry about so disregard my earlier post about having to think about that block of time.
Our In Character date is December 7, 2396, so were just a hop, skip, and a jump to 2397.

I was intending on Transferring all your logs over with mine, but then I got to thinking that it might be better for you to re-post/copy/paste them over yourselves to keep it less confusing. Shouldn't take but a few minutes. If your not able or would rather let me know and I'll include them with mine when I transfer mine.

We have a section that's listed as Tempest/Odyssey for now, post your logs in there. Use the format of
Position-Rank-Name for the topic of your thread. IE: "CO Capt Oliver Alexander Savage" just to make things easier.

Once we get the particulars figured out I will also move our logs over to the new Forums as well. I will of course keep posting a copy of our activities here as well. You do not have to feel obligated to do so but I'm going to in order to keep interest here in case someone stumbles upon our activity and decides they want to try it out.

Don't forget to give input on what you want our Space Station to be named.

This name Odyssey is starting to stick with me. Space Station Odyssey sounds pretty good.
I like the tribute to Space Above and Beyond because of our club name Space Station Saratoga as well.

But that is about where we stand with suggestions from what I could tell. Make some suggestions ya'll!

On a different note, I have to apologize. Apparently I screwed up somewhere along the lines and got my year wrong. The club was in the year 2396 not 2393 like I thought. That was apparently the year they began. The time we've been simming in should have been 2396 so I apologize. To make things easy I'm going to go through and just edit logs and such to account for that time frame. I'm very sorry about that guys and gals. So technically our time shift was 25 years not 22 like we originally talked about. Perhaps we can come up with a reason also as to why we thought it was only 22 and not 25. Maybe the Subspace beacon that reported the time to our ships computer was also wrong due to some kind of damage, and we'll find out this fact through the Johnsons. I donno. So many ideas. But this was my oversight so I apologize.

The new group venture has decided to pick up in the year 2399 so were going to be advancing in time again. CJ's going to lay out some narrative that shoots us forward in time to this point. So in one of our future Sim's were going to be picking up 3 more years into our future having served on the Tempest together for that long. So you may want to think about how your character would have grown in 3 years of working together. Would the rift between Sully and Oliver have been overcome. How about Johnny's behavior towards the uniform? Did he have a revelation that he actually wanted to be here and work well with us while still maintaining his image? Perhaps you might post some thoughts here also on things you'd like to have happened to your character in 3 years time. Start thinking about it now. This might also explain how we ended up with double duty taking care of a Space Station in addition to the Tempest. Distinguished ourselves plenty enough to get noticed and set here.

Just a heads up, I will not be able to attend the Sim this coming Saturday due to a social engagement. But I shall return the following. If you need anything specific from me or my character, or if there is something I need to "Log" about let me know and I'll do something. I would appreciate a copy of the Chat Log so that I can file it away.

The year is 2393
Our current day depends on what your perspective is. I usually advance the time depending upon what CJ says now, so if there is a time change of say 6Hrs. My log will fall within a 6 hour time. Usually prior to the sim, or right after the last. You can watch my logs for queues. Usually I advance time as long as the sim runs. So if we go an hour, I advance an hour, if we go more. I usually mirror it to within a 30 minute window. If there is a time change in sim like we advance an hour I try and remember to work that into the time calculation. It does not have to be perfect. You can always check my logs for a good reference. Or previous reference.

You can also use the calculator to convert a Stardate to a Date. Just use the other field on the lower half.

So the next sim will pick up essentially IC time of December 7, 2393 @ around 0500 or later which is +6 Hours from the time our last sim Ended in game.
The Previous Date was December 6, 2393 @ 22:25:45 which was shortly after our sim Ended. By maybe 30mins - 1 hour after.

Ok, so I went over and pulled all of your logs from ST:E and added them into mine where they seemed to fit. If you need me to move something around or format it a certain way let me know. This way it saves your logs and puts them in line with the rest of them.


I updated the Crew Roster, and Specifications to reflect our Jump into the future.

So I must ask you all to do me a favor, when you have a chance I could and would appreciate you posting your Character Biographies in the board associated with them. This is important as it can help the Sim Master/Game director in using such information to use things within them in the stories we play in. Plus it also gives the rest of us a good look at who your character is.

As I've said before, it does not have to be as detailed as I got in mine. But some details about your character would be appreciated. You can post something and continue to add to it as you go too. So I encourage you to please post a Biography when you can.

To cover the question of Crew Logs. If you wish to keep writing them, please just post them in the "Crew Logs" Board along with mine. It will make them easier to read because they will fall within the same time frame as the Captains logs too.

@INH - ST:E had a management issue which is why we had some many problems integrating into them. CJ and Aohbie have been pushed out by James the site overlord. So were going to withdraw from ST:E and follow CJ and Aohbie and help them start something better without a douchebag admin.

A question was posed to me and I'm going to likewise answer it here. It was: Should we continue to do logs?

I have never made it a manditory function of playing in my games in the past. ST:E did require it, which was something we were willing to do. Though you still didn't have to it would just reflect in your advancement scores. So I encouraged it and so did they. But I believe that they do add an extra level of depth, not only to the story but to your characters. And it honestly does not take too terribly long to write something that recaps events and your feelings. I encourage you to decide if you want to keep doing them, I think what you guys have done has been great and I encourage you to continue writing them as I feel it would bring something special to the story. The choice is ultimately yours. Even if you decide to just write them periodically.

As far as ST:E is concerned, I told CJ we were going to pull back from ST:E and he advised just exiting altogether. So I think that is what were going to do. We all experienced the issues that ST:E had and become of one person. I truly believe that Aohbie and CJ did everything they could to get us integrated and as quickly as possible. The road block was clearly the Administrator. He still hasn't added our ship to the IRC as a join-able room. Were still not listed in the Forums. It took them bugging him to get admin rights to just get us assigned to our ship, and our ranks put in. Otherwise this would have been done long ago. So I think we know where the oddball in this was. It will mean starting from scratch and building a new club, website, etc, but I believe that the two of them are determined. I'm going to help however I can. Once the ball gets rolling on their end if you'd like to see this grow and faster if you have skills they can use when the time is right your welcome to offer. It can be exciting.

From what I can tell CJ seems dedicated to continuing with us so one way or another the show is going to continue. But we will have a chance to be part of a new beginning as far as this club is concerned. It's a great opportunity.

If you have questions or concerns please, please do not hesitate to voice them either here or in a PM to me and or Annie even. We'll get you answers. I suspect that CJ will join the Syndicate site if he hasn't already and will likely chime in. Right now I know CJ and Aobhie are taking a couple of days to decompress. Then the work begins.

I've updated the crew roster listed under the Personnel Files forum to reflect everyone's positions and added NPCs to the list that are reoccuring. I'm actually going to try and keep track of some of the ones we use often enough. If you want someone added to the list now or for future use your welcome to post here or PM me names and information. Especially if they are family. I even added CJ as our SM. In light of recent events with ST:E I thought it was a good idea to get caught up with some maintenance over here. Since I am certain our days with ST:E are slim, and something new is coming down the pipe.

So until further notice we will be meeting back over on the Chatingo Application for our future activities until we find out what our new thing is going to be.

Thank you guys for being patient and flexible. This was an obvious unforseen setback. I'm kinda hoping we can use that new IRC program Annie found. We just might need a room of our own. I donno how we could make one even if temporary maybe DH can enlighten or hook us up.

That is correct, we will only be doing 1 session, same Day/Time we've been doing it.

So a proposal was sent to me by the Leadership at ST:E, they have another sim called Sigma Rho which is there center piece Space Station. It's apparently been struggling badly and the Game Director has not had the time to dedicate to the activity that he would like. They are offering to merge our two activities and give us control over Sigma Rho in addition to the Tempest.

Essentially we would be running missions on both Tempest and storylines on the Space Station Sigma Rho. Much like the Dynamic between Deep Space Nine and the Defiant.

We would gain 2 more players in the process that would come over from the Rho, everyone retains their positions so you don't have to worry about that. We would just be put at a central point within ST:E as sort of a Jump off point for other ships, potential for joint missions with other activities and such.

I'd like to know how you feel about this idea. I wont say yes unless all agree that it is ok. This just means you'll be a department head of both the station and ship for your specific department as you are now. Just more NPCs to rule over. LOL

Thinks about this, and let me know your feelings. Don't hesitate to ask question's and I will find out from our friends over at ST:E and get back to you.

Yup, were going to be picking back up as our first official week with ST:E this coming Saturday, January 7th, 2017. Same time, but new channel. The theory is we should be over on the new site, using the IRC chat. You should be able ot access it by logging into your account on ST:E and using the portal to get to the chat. I'll be doing a quick update/log here either tonight or tomororw just to sum up what happened last which I will post both here and over on the ST:E site. Hope to see you all Saturday!

Glorfindel that log you made was great! I think logs are up tot he individual and how they should be done. I do mine the way I do because it makes sense because i believe in it the way you do. I also try and make my Captains log a more professional telling and a personal log for all those unprofessional thing's I'll likely say. You'll likely see more of those from me in the future. Especially now. But your log was great. Thank you for doing that!

First I want to take a moment to apologize to you for not being able to communicate about the sim, I was locked out of my account on the Mafia boards so I apologize. Annie saved me though because she's awesome. Next week's sim will be canceled due to the holiday as well. But we will resume again on January 7, 2017. Not only will we be picking back up, but we should be officially launched with ST:E. We should have our own IRC room and a forum for us to post in and read for mission updates and such.

So one thing that ST:E encourages is Logs. Some people don't enjoy making logs reflecting back on things but I do. I think it's good for the story, and in ST:E it helps with advancement so I would encourage you to at least occasionally make a log.
