Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - GAME OVER
I am who I am LC; I don;t try to tell you you or your game are wrong or incorrect. It is possible for people to read your posts and still think you are bad. That does not make them bad Mafia players.
I am sorry if me playing my game as myself, for myself, is upsetting to you.
And re nobility; I know it isn't a factor in winning Mafia games. That was kind of my point. It isn't whether you win or lose,it's how you play the game. I think that is an important concept.
And for the last time,my suspicion of you had EVERYTHING to do with your posts, and your actions, and your role as the lore portrayed it to be, not my fancies. As I said,I thought you were bad. It's Mafia, it happens.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - GAME OVER
EBWOP, HOW you win is important imo. I have had wins that were ashes in my mouth, and I have had losses that were amongst my favorite games (like SOT, or BSG) becasue I played my hardest and had fun doing it.
I am here to have fun with friends; winning is good, but playing a good game is my primary objective.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - GAME OVER
I read your posts. I thought you were bullshittingLong Con wrote:Well, I said I would "adjust" my expectations, not "lower". My former expectations were that I would be part of the game by making posts and people would read them and that their responses would indicate that they were understood or not. I was disappointed many times by the fact that this was clearly not happening, so to avoid disappointment in the future, I'll go in with the mentality that people really won't be that likely to read my posts. Then, IF it happens that my posts are read, I'll be pleasantly surprised instead of disappointed. I'd like that better.
The way this applies to you personally would be that I was pretty clear what I meant by "roleplaying" during the game when I accused you of it, here for instance, and here. Then you say "I am not even sure what you mean when you say this", and it's just more evidence of what I'm talking about in the first paragraph. You were conversing with me without reading my posts, and the things that I tried to communicate to you were not received by you as a result.
You were introducing concepts to the game that have no relevance at all to a Mafia game, like saying "bullying is not Civvie behaviour". That kind of thing has no correlation with the achievement of any Win Condition in the game of Mafia; that is your personal fanciful idea that Civvie players are the heroes of the story, and that heroes act nobly and generously by their nature. Roleplaying.

And we each have our own way of playing. Yours is not any more valid than mine, or anyone elses. For me win cons are only part of the equation, and that is always the case. To be honest, some of my least favorite playstyles are the ones that make achieving win cons their priority, becasue there is so much more to this game. And I DO think bullying is not civ behavior. I don't think it should be bad behavior either, but I loathe it when civvies do shifty things just to win, or mean things. Perhaps we are using different definitions or role play. If that is your definition, then I am sorry, that is what I do.
The good guys SHOULD be noble. I believe that with all my heart. The bad guys SHOULD be shifty. The SK SHOULD be insane. Well, maybe not that one. But you get my drift.
Again, this coems down to playstyle. And I have always had this playstyle. Remember SOT when the Keeper recruited me as a Meat Puppet? A lot fo people got mad atme, but I acted as I felt Kahlan would have acted in that scenario. So maybe you're right and it is roleplay. But each of us decides what is appropriate in our own game, not in each others.
This is my game, and it pretty much always has been. I am sorry if you do not like it, but it is how I play, and I think it DOES have a place in a Mafia game and it is relevant.

Also the "railroading" thing was poorly worded on my part; you seem to be thinking I did this on purpose, and I did not. I kinda think you are overreacting, and maybe I did not want to say that. I mean that when I said what I said about you & my suspicions of you, I believed what I believed, and I acted on it. It was not an intentional push to remove you regardless of role. I wanted to remove your role.
I would have wanted to remove your role if I was a civ.

LC, it was not roleplaying. That is why I have not talked about; I am not even sure what you mean when you say this.
I thought you were bad, I had reasons for thinking so, and I posted and acted on them. You are acting like we are still playing and you are trying to trick me into admitting something. There is nothing to admit. I thought you were bad. In all sincerity.

But that isn't how *I* play. I don't play a logical game. So we are all different.Long Con wrote:All I expect is that, when I put something forward that is undeniably logical, that my fellow logic-appreciating players acknowledge that the logical move is usually the smarter move.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:Long Con, I felt your reasoning for interfering with the process DrumBeats had laid out looked more like a cheap excuse to interfere than an honest concern -- even if it might have been "logical" on the surface. Even baddies are logical sometimes, especially me.I don't think that's too much to ask. Instead, I mostly got ignored, despite laying out in extremely simple terms why it was smarter to protect ourselves. If DrumBeats' plan had ended up being a baddie thing, then I would have practically been the only one to attempt to stop him, and he would have been gloating at the end of the game that everyone was a fool to follow along with his plan. It's pure luck that it didn't end up that way - I prefer to tone down the 'luck' and go with ideas that eliminate the possibility of baddie control. I guess not everyone feels the same way.

This. I will apologize to you if it makes you feel better LC, but I don't really think I did anything wrong. At the time I thought your impassioned pleas were impassioned bullshit because this is Mafia and bullshit each other is what we do. The last thing it was was personal, about you or about me. It was about how I perceived your behavior.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:Long Con, I felt your reasoning for interfering with the process DrumBeats had laid out looked more like a cheap excuse to interfere than an honest concern -- even if it might have been "logical" on the surface. But whatever, game's over. People were wrong about things. People were right about things. Mafia.
I have been INTENTIONALLY railroaded tons of times in games, not unintentionally like you were, and that is part of the game. Ask G Man, I fervently believed everything I said about you. You can't take it like I did anything wrong cause I don't think that I did.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - Day 12
I did not imply knowledge, and what I said here has no bearing on when you were alive. What I said here WAS manipulation, but it was after you died. When You were alive I said what I said cause I thought it was trueLong Con wrote:No one is questioning or disputing that.S~V~S wrote:LC, I would have done exactly the same thing I did if I were a civ. That is why I always get suspected when I am a civ and not as much when I am bad, paradoxically. Most of the time I leap before I look either way. My thoughts on you had nothing to do with my affiliation, and everything to do with yours
This is what I want to know:
You acted like your role had some knowledge that everyone else didn't have. Why did you imply that you had some knowledge that I was "trying to be lynched", especially since I was already dead at the time?Long Con wrote:Why did you say this after I was already dead? What purpose does this lie serve?John Cavil wrote:It never occurred to you to question why I barely fought back? Or why I was so sure LC was trying to be lynched?

I thought you were trying to get lynched to set up civ cred for yourself. When very early in the game you drew attention to trhe roles, you said to be on the lookout for a lynch when the person with the second most votes is the one lynched, a civvie role. I don;t recall which offhand. I thought you were trying to look like you were hinting that YOU were that role, when I doubt you would do so were you really that role. Then when it looked like you were getting lynched, it looked to me like you did not care; like you knew you would not be lynched, as I said at the time.
In retrospect, that appears to be true, seeing the role secrets revealed.
I understand your frustration, but it is easy to tend to think that anyone who does not see you the way you see yourself is becasue they are bad, and in this case, while I WAS bad, it had no bearing on my perception of the situation. I would 100% acted exactly the same when I was NOT bad.
I thought you were trying to get lynched for faux cred, and I thought your role was bad news for me and for everyone else. I thought any role (not *you*, your role) that could just change everyones win cons & take the win away from civvies could not be a good thing. Especially in retrospect, when more cylons were good than bad.
I am somewhat perplexed this game when I think I played a very soft bad game that so many people are upset with me for playing the hand I was dealt, tbh.

Ha ha ha, I was trying very hard to sound *not* like me, and since I don't *think* I normally creep people out I guess I succeeded.Nerolunar wrote:As baddies often do.S~V~S wrote:And I was a baddie opportunistically benefiting from someone elses misfortune
Your tone in BTSC crept me out so much lol. I felt pressured, didn't know if I should lie or go straight to the truth. Lying didn't work out after all though
Plus BTS was hard before I was outed; I tried very hard to log in as little as possible and at times when very few were on. So I wrote generic messages and cut & pasted them into all the chatrooms as fast as I could, like the last one I sent about not killing any cylons. So I sounded rather vague most of the time, I think. Which probably added to the "creepy" thing.
I was going for menacing, yet fatherly, since my interpretation of Cavil was that he had that feel for his "people". Like the civvie cylons were weak & misguided, but I still loved them anyhow, and did not want to box any of them unless I had to.

Golden, those prophecies were great! They would have been really helpful!
Also, (I think) sig - thanks for passing that Wills of the Dead Act. It was awesome to be able to participate, even if it was only 25 words every 72 hours or so!!!
When I was passing laws, I basically chose all the laws I thought would actually affect the game the most. I got the Haiku act, one about giving compliments, and a couple other ones that were kind of "silly", so each time (all 2 of them lol) I just picked whichever law I thought would have the most impact on game play. I looked at it from a host point of view... and as a host I like to impact game play. That was an awesome role power! But it looks like the 2 airlocks were taken away from my role power before I got the role. Bummer, I would have loved to shove a couple people out an airlock.![]()
I also finally figured out JJJ was The Admiral, after the admiral started asking people to get more involved and all that. Total 3J - Your mascot status remains fully intact, my friend!
And yeah, 3J was a fairly obvious Admiral. In the end, I was better than 75% spot on on who I thought was who, but it did not helpme in the end. Crazy mechanics are crazy

I had tons of fun this game. I had like 8 different BTS threads at the end, lol. I hate lying to people in BTS, so I was fairly frank; I told the people I did not think were aligned to me that that was wat I thought rather than trying to manipulate them. I think I might go to hell at just the thought of manipulating Juliets. I said more than once that I would not NK any known cylons (lulz that Polo was FF) as I already felt bad enough contributing to Nutella & LoRabs deaths.
Not even Nero, who blocked my votes the last few days, or Epi who put the final knife in G-Mans polyester leisure suit clad back.

Great game Golden. Very interesting setup with lots of possibilities.

Congrats civvie cylons (and even you pesky humans)
To all my cylons, sorry i had to be less forthcoming in BTS with you all. I had no idea who to trust; had I known the lore I might have better known who was whom. Like I thought all the cylons were bad, lol. Ihad no clue. I found out Athena wasn't when Epi was lynched, and the civvies told me in thread, Indi, I think, made a list of who had what alignment. Before that I was fairly clueless.
And yes lots of uncertainly. My role said I could not be lynched; it did not say I would be revealed as John Cavil, lol. It is fair to say I would have played it differently had I known but that's on me, not the game. It was an awesome game and I had a lot of fun even though it became clear some time ago that we were gonna lose

Also Polo, a force to be reckoned with! And LC, I am sorry, I would have done the same thing if civ, tbh. Martial law just seemed like a bad thing for everyone.
Also Dex

And G-Man (I remembered the hyphen) I had so much fun

If I find out post game that this is based on any kind of perception of info, like your role had a block and you blocked someone and no one died, or a protection, or whatever, and you got false info becasue of it, I will never ever let you live it down. Info dumping, especially faux info dumping, is the thing I hate most. Fair play > winning.
So you are wrong, but if you think you are right for info related reasons, you basically alienated me and I hope it was worth it for you. Becasue proving people wrong is my favorite thing ever.

It looks liek if I have to wind up voting to save, it will be for Epi, but I don't think Epi is bad. I hope people stop voting for him.
I am here,I am reading.
Linki @ JJJ, I think Black Rock is civ based on her early reaction to MY reaction to Epis lynch & reveal as Athena. I think is BR was bad,she would not have bothered to remark on my reaction to that flip.

@Rico, I answered you here.
So here is a partial, I will finish it up after work. Civ
Black Rock
Dex
DrumBeats
DrWilgy
Epignosis
G-Man
insertnamehere
JaggedJimmyJay
juliets
Matt
Nerolunar
ObscureAllure
Polo
Rabbit8
Ricochet
S~V~S
sig
SokothQultuq
Spacedaisy
I am not sure about the rest of the names on the list. I feel MOST sure about INH, JJJ & Matt. A couple of them I still feel good vibes about overall, but not quite as sure. A few of the unrated names I used to feel better about than I do now.
I will qualify the rest later, I want to do some reading; it is easier for me to read at work than post. I don't think both G Man & Drum are civ; I think it is one or the other there. So for now I have them both in not sure. I have no idea where I want to vote; worrying about defending (Even though you say I have defended enough, I don't feel as strongly about that as you do
) plus these people coming back plus Glorfindel coming up civ and the pall that casts on lore leads me to think we need to reconsider across the board. That is why Wilgy came off "civ" to "not sure". So still not sure where I want to vote. I won't be voting for any of the green names today. I doubt I will be voting for INH or you ever.
Sorry if I am "robotic & emotionless" but I am trying very hard not to be a hypocrite. It is no fun when someone you like & respect calls you a hypocrite more than once in the same discussion, and when they are right. So I need to revise my behavior, and I am sorry if you do not like how it affects my game, but it is what it is
I am sure I already answered this, but:
@Rico, I answered you here.
This has not changed. Based on thread and on things she said (and on things other people said) Silver was my strongest town read. INH has not done anything to actively keep that up, but he has played a cautious game that I would expect MOST people to play were they a strong town role.
Yeah, I said last post that I would put that all in one post, I did not forget it. I will put in my full civ reads first, I want to read back a bit, I think I must be trusting people I should not. I am not sure what to think of the Kinda Final Four, Jules was Hot Dog, and Nero was lynched, so they were civ to start, but may have come back from the Pet Sematary seems to be the thought? Pre death the only one I felt less than civ about was Daisy. I also felt Faraday was bad, but felt MUCH better about Dex. But if we are to rejudge them, I don't have enough basis for comparision.@S~V~S
I think you've already defended yourself enough that people's perspectives of you aren't likely to change much if you do more of it. I'm much more interested in what your reads are and who you want to lynch. Gimme the goods.

I am sure I already answered this, but:
Bea is one of my closest friends, irl & as well as online. We have a way of interacting all of our own; this is how we talk to each other. She was NOT reacting to me how I would expect her to react, she almost seemed to be intentionally ignoring me. It is NOT what I expect from her when a cov; I expected her to snark back at me. When she kept going all wide eyed on me, it made me keep saying the same things to prod a reaction out of her. Lack or reaction = Not a civ in general. That goes both ways for she & I.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:S~V~S:

OK, I see nothing specifically new to answer. But from the looks of these lists, I don't want to waste my posts when I will probably need them if the votes start piling on. If you can do me all a favor; if any of you have specific questions, could you do this for me:
@SVS in the large format like that.
and put the questions in a paragraph after that? Like if you have 10 questions for me, don't put "@SVS" 10 times, put all the questions together after the big @SVS. I will make it easier to multiformat answers that way without screwing up the formatting and getting it in in my 8 remaining posts, and still answer everyones questions. Seven, really, since I need a vote post.
President, I understand why you did this rule, but you could have picked a better day for me lol.

SO SAY WE ALL!!!

Welcome Back Dead Guys!
Yay for no death.
I will probably do my reads all in one list since I hate making multi quoty linki posts with multiple topics. Thanks for getting that out of the way early, Polo. Like yesterday I will be out a large chunk of today, but back this evening & back to normal tomorrow.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - Night 8
The only way to be 100% sure of someones role is if the host told you that information; anything else is supposition, even if it is 99%, 100 percent means host based info. There is one role with a known power of checking whether or not someone is a cylon~ I do not think Polo is that role; and even if he was, that role detects cylons, not roles. I saw someone in this game get punished (we all did)for implying that someone else, not even them, had info.Ricochet wrote:Why impossible?S~V~S wrote:Are you claiming to have info? Becasue that would be impossible. And that would be the only 100% you could have, tbh.Polo wrote:High enough for me to say this: if she's lynched and she's not Cylon, then you can lynch me on the next day.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:Polo, what degree of confidence do you have in your read on S~V~S?
I am 100% sure she's mafia.
And Jay, I kept poking her over & over, and she kept not responding. Since the Nutella lynch. Had she just once poked back, I would have backed off, but she never did, and she posted tons
And I don't degree of confidence =/= having info.
Mafia doesn't find out the role of the victims, unless they have such a power role. Are you implying the Mafia has this?Polo wrote:The only way you could be sure that it'd be impossible for me to have info is if you know you killed the character that can have that information.S~V~S wrote:Are you claiming to have info? This exchange is... intriguing.
Now, a prize role check is possible, and lots of roles have secrets. But if Polo was blatantly info dumping, he would have been punished. The fact that he is not punished means no info. I also say it means no info since it is not true. And this I DO know 100% since my role is info given my by the host. Polo cannot have been told by the host that "SVS is Cavil" becasue A), it is not true, and B) if he had been he would be info dumping & punished, and he is not.
So he cannot be 100% sure. He *believes* he is correct, he does not know it (and he isn't correct).
Polo is very very sure, but he does not have info. I know this becasue he is wrong, not becasue of any convoluted reasoning involving killing anyone.

years & years of killing the same people over & over again, you lose track of who you killed when, and who killed you, you know?
