Dante sighed, "I find that hard to believe, you went to such lengths to cover it up, then that Wilgy fellow came in & conquered Serbia on his own", looking around he asked, "What the hell is all of this anyway?"

"Indeed", Dante replied; "Your squad was supposed to conquer Serbia; instead you sat about discussing yoga & tea."

At the mention of tea Dante narrowed his eyes; "You were not part of that failed Serbian mission, were you, Uncle Jim Bob?"

Dante was not sure what to say; "Uncle Jim Bob, I thought you died in an avalanche?"

A tall man, whose white hair and clothing, contrasted with his ebony skin,rose gracefully from a desk and approached them.

They giggled nervously, and Praline rolled her eyes; "you & your bears" she scoffed, "Come on, they're waiting".

A door in the base of the 4 toes statue opened, and a figure emerged, holding a torch.

There was one particular mosaic that caught her eye; it depicted a 4 toed Egyptian figure holding an ankh, with smaller figures dancing around its' base.

"Well, it can't hurt to have it", said Praline briskly, "Follow me, the tunnel to the compound is right through this closet".

The hand that had pulled them into the basement belonged to Nadines sister, Praline.

The head DEA guy was sad; "Aw shucks! This is the third suicide this week. Imma go kick rocks, let's go guys...." he said, and the DEA agents degectedly went back the way they had come.

Nadine burst into tears; "My friends never get raided by the DEA, waaaaaah!! Why does this shit keep happening to me???""

"It's always something around here, isn't it? Why can't we ever just have a quiet evening at home? Without bears or jetpacks or the DEA???"; Nadine was close to tears.

"Have we met before, Mr Bear?", he asked, looking perplexed.

"Have we met before,that you come here specifically for me, asking for me by name? How have I offended you?", asked Dante.

"You're a talking bear with opposable thumbs and a jet pack. You could go to any restaurant in town and eat for free. Why me?" Asked Dante

"Bear,what do you want with me", Dante called through the door.

Dante tried to recall what he had done the last time he took the bear suit out of the shed, but he had been so very drunk, it was a bit hazy.

"Candygram", it said in a tiny voice.

"Maybe he is time jumping a bear from an alternate reality; one where THEY are the sentient beings? I wonder if he is the Bear in Black?? " asked Dante, as they locked the door behind them.

The rolled their eyes, and shimmied backup the sheet, pulling it up behind them.

He shook his furry arms at her, "I have the right to bear arms, you know!!", he growled at her.

Nadine thought she heard a riff of cool jazz in the distance, but she shook her head, and it was gone.

Dante glared at her and said, "No U!"

She looked at him and said, "What the hell is wrong with you? Pulsating lights, paratroopers,salmonella, interdimensional mirrors; now is not the time for cosplay!"

Then, she saw movement from the corner of her eye, turned and saw a bear; she whipped out her camera to catch the Kodiak moment.

It was a mirror.

Meanwhile, Nadine finished her chicken, and turned to face the pulsating light.

"Salmonella!!"

"We're saved!!", screamed Nadine.

The air was hot, and had an unpleasant undertone, of rot or of decay.

"Let's go", he said.

Looking out the window as the bright pulsating light, Dante asked, "Are we really sure that going out into THAT would be escaping?"

Suddenly, a light so bright it was blinding came flooding in through the windows.

"Shhh", she whispered, "Don't you see that glow under the door?"

Nadine screamed and shot herself in the foot.

Nadine rolled over, took his hand and said, "You really should write a book"

"ADRIAAAAANNNNNROACH"

Then there was a Raid.

His sparkly blood sparkles in the street.

However, it then got up and bit INH. Now INH sparkels

It died.

A sparkly vampire stood there, preening in the doorway.

In book two she killed the twilight Vampires

Who, with his mother dead, developed into a vampire.

Eventually, they all died.

Which does not go far towards explaining why her sister raised her 4 children, all of whom apparently did not think much of her, but DOES explain many other things.

So she decided to get drunk with her friends and not worry about her sister; she was a crazy bitch anyhow.
