Re: What do you be readin'?
Sounds really interesting. I haven't had the time to read like I used to lately. I need to make some time. I read a little on vacation. I picked The Hobbit back up and started it over because I felt like I needed to refresh what I had already read before I finished. This is the one last Tolkien book I haven't read yet. I'm the weirdo who read this one last...

Re: What do you be readin'?
It was quite good. But then, I would be hard pressed to name a Pratchett book I have not liked, lol

Re: What do you be readin'?
I just finished Terry Pratchett's Sourcery from the Disc World series. Someday I would like to maybe host a Disc World game. It would be so much fun!

On a semi-related note, I have thought for some time that a Choose Your Own Adventure themed mafia could be quite intriguing!

Re: What do you be readin'?
Good question, I don't think I have read a lot of fiction in the second person voice so I don't know how I feel about it...

Re: What do you be readin'?
Just realized I never answer Bea's question! It is hard to put my finger on the why. I think perhaps because I feel like the author is forcing a connection on me perhaps, or that by writing in the first person I feel like I should be putting myself as the reader into that character's shoes, but I don't even know them yet. I much prefer third person narrative, though obviously it is not make or break for me, it just runs a greater risk of losing my interest because it takes me longer to get into the first person narrative.

Re: What do you be readin'?
It's not finished yet. It's about a girl who is the bearer of what the books call a godstone, which is basically a jewel she was born with embedded in her navel, bearers come once every hundred years and have a divine purpose. The series is really interesting because it is basically this girl finding her way through what others want her to do as a bearer and queen, and what she feels she should and wants to do. She is married off to a king, thereby becoming queen and being thrust into the middle of civil unrest and outright war. I have found it fairly interesting personally. The only thing I struggled with at the beginning of the first book I read and this last one (because I forgot) is the author wrote it in the first person, this is always harder for me to get into at first when things are written in the first person for some reason.

Re: What do you be readin'?
I just read The Crown of Embers by Rae Carson. I had read the previous two books, Shadow Cats, and The Girl of Fire and Thorns and finally read this one. They were a random find and I have really enjoyed them.

Re: What do you be readin'?
I started the first one and it took me forever to finish it. I doubt I will continue on in the series, it just didn't do it for me.Wazzipi wrote:am still busy with wheel of time
I have literally just started David Copperfield. I love Dickens.
