Re: Holiday Goodie Exchange [2022]

Yeah porch piracy is a real threat to our exchange. I didn’t receive mine either but at this point I’m abroad so if it hasn’t been sent, it’s better not to because I wouldn’t get it until the end of May.

I was super stoked she had gotten my name. She made me the most awesome needlepoint of a Beatles tune you may have heard of - Here Comes The Sun- with some lovely brownie candy bites I have yet to try. And also a card with a Narwhal AND a Walrus <3 I am over the moon and onto Saturn!

Love you @Spacedaisy :daisy: <3

Re: Holiday Goodie Exchange [2022]

Guys guys guys! I managed to get my gift in the mail this afternoon. The estimated delivery date is Christmas Eve! Of course we have a huge winter storm so there’s a good chance it still won’t get there until early next week. But I am so so so super excited about the gift I shipped off. I can’t wait until they get it!!!!

I am putting the final touches together on my gift tomorrow. If I’m lucky I will get it in the mail tomorrow afternoon too. However, if for some reason I can’t, it probably won’t go out until next week because the weather is supposed to be super bad on Friday here. Either way, it’s likely my goodie exchange person will receive theirs after Christmas. Just want to give a heads up so no one is feeling too left out. 💜

Re: Holiday Goodie Exchange [2022]

Alright, so here is the way this works, for those of you who might not have participated before. I will randomize the names so each person has one other person to send goodies to. I will collect the addresses from each person, so that I can give them to the person who has their name, because who doesn't love a surprise? Let's try to keep it within $20. If you could PM me where your goodies should be sent, that would be very much appreciated!

@Marmot
@Kate
@nutella
@sig
@Sabiplz
@Roxy
@sabie12
@Seanzie
I won't mention Epi because he hates mentions, lol.

Re: Holiday Goodie Exchange [2022]

We try to keep it to $20 or less. Shipping can get pricey so if you spend less, we get it. Honestly, it's just nice getting sweets or tasty stuff so if you are baker, bake away. If your area has a specialty sweet or something, go that direction. It's just nice getting a little something.

Don't forget to vote in the poll if you're participating so I don't miss it. :daisy:

I wonder if we can set a price limit that also takes shipping into account? Pandemic + life changes = not as much extra cash lying around, but I love giving a few fun things from where we are (and what I make for a living)! I think there was some sort of suggested limit the first year (something around $20, but it wouldn't have to be that), but I haven't seen a concrete one since then in the thread unless I missed it.

Totally understand if people want to keep limits off, and we can participate another year. Yay, holidays!
I believe it has always been intended to be around $20. And I absolutely think we should try to remain within that. :)

Re: Holiday Goodie Exchange

Good morning Syndicate! I’m here because I see we haven’t yet organized our yearly gift exchange. It usually gets started earlier but I think with a year like 2020, we could really do with something that helps us feel a little more connected! So if you are interested in participating, please send me a pm with your mailing address and make sure you let me know if you have any allergies as well! We will only be doing sign ups for ten days in order to allow enough time to shop and ship. Happy Holidays Syndicate!

My sister would like to participate as well. Captain Bunny Killer. She isn't on the site too often anymore because it's just hard for her to play with her visual disability, but she would like to aka part in the exchange, if you guys don't mind. We are both staying here in Waco for Christmas, neither of us felt we could handle the holiday with the whole family this year witheverything going on in. Each our personal lives. So it would be nice to have a little something to give and receive with you all.

My culinary skills are rudimentary at best so perhaps someone more highly skilled in that field (like S-V-S) may be able to advise you in the use of the sauces - I've not tried them myself but I've heard good reports about them. As for the ornament, for anyone who can't read the inscription under the image of Captain Picard, it says, "Dream big and make it so" - a play on Jean-Luc's iconic line from the Star Trek Next Generation series. I am beyond thrilled that you were happy with it, my friend and I hope that (through our friend, the indomitable Captain Picard) I may be able to inspire you just a little in those times that you may feel down or discouraged and need reminding of all the wonderful things that await you in your life.

So Glorfindel sent me these amazing gifts! We haven't yet used the sauces, I am going to have to look into how to use them. The other item was one of the most thoughtful and unexpected gifts of all this year. Glorf has played in our Syndicate sim, The Tempest. Since he joined we have gotten to become very good friends, so he knows my love of The Next Generation. And I know he has a pretty intense dislike of Picard so the fact that he got me this lovely crystal collectible is doubly meaningful. It was a touching gift from a very thoughtful person. I was floored when I opened it. Thank you so much Glorf!

P.S. I was intrigued by the fact Australians spell chili with two L's!

Re: Holiday Goodie Exchange

Ok so the chamoy and the tajin seasoning I sent so you could make yourself mangonadas. I couldn't just send you a mangonada because they are a blended iced drink. Here is a link to the recipe. If you so desire you can make it boozy with some tequila. ;)

The michelada mix goes in a beer, for authenticity you could try to use it in a Mexican beer, but I don't think it's required. Not sure if you all are beer drinkers, but if not feel free to pass it along to someone who is. I'm not so I've never had one myself but micheladas are huge here in San Antonio. And I love mangonadas, something I had never had before I moved here, but again a big thing here. Nearly every Mexican joint or even shaved ice places will serve mangonadas.

Hope you enjoy it!
