Re: All Things NFL

Super weird to go back and see that the last time I posted in here Josh Allen was not the greatest person to ever play football in the history of the sport

Yeah I like that. Apparently the name they want is tied up in trademarks, which points to either that or the Washington Warriors (which I think it will be, since Rivera and reporters keep mentioning “tribute to the military”).

Re: All Things NFL

Chiefs is not really a slur or derogatory nickname like Redskin or Indian, ditto with Braves, so I think they stay at least for now. At the very least though they should stop using Native imagery without cooperation with a local tribe and disallow fans from it too.

My favorite name for the team is the Warthogs or the Pigskins as a nod to their history, but I also wouldn’t ever for them to win a single game again so I don’t care.

I'd be a lot more upset about the developments in New England's QB room if I thought there was still going to be a full season.

G-Man wrote: Mon Jan 20, 2020 11:55 pm My problem is that the 49ers just aren’t on my radar. They had a good season, but I just didn’t hear much about them all season. Perhaps it’s East Coast bias, but I just don’t know enough about them to say that I like or dislike them. In the absence of that, I default to the Chiefs because Mahomes is a thrill to watch when he’s on top of his game.
Agreed. I don’t really pay as close attention to the NFC during the season and don’t feel that strongly about most of the teams.
Epignosis wrote: Sat Jan 25, 2020 5:04 pm I just kind of like Andy Reid and hope his team wins.
Agreed. I like Andy a lot, I like Mahomes, the fanbase hasn’t won anything in half a century, and I can’t root for Kyle Shanahan after his brilliant choke job gave New England ring no. 5, or for a dynasty that has a bajillion championships already ... go Chiefs.

I can see it. You're not a true Bills fan if you don't go into every match-up expecting a crushing loss, while also believing in your heart of hearts that they can pull it off no matter what. They've done wilder things against a Houston team in the Wild Card round before ...

Re: All Things NFL

Having the Bills play on Thanksgiving is pretty exciting. I'm cautiously optimistic against this Cowboys team but part of me does think the moment will be a little big for Josh Allen and some of the other guys.
G-Man wrote: Sun Nov 10, 2019 9:49 pm After treating the team like a dumpster fire and trading away much of the best talent on the team they could have started a rebuild with as foundational pieces, the Dolphins had one job to do. They can’t even lose when they need to. Maybe the top draft pick isn’t necessary, but the first-round picks from the Steelers and Texans are only dropping lower on the draft board with every passing week.

Is it wrong to say that I’m almost hopeful now that their tank-and-rebuild strategy fails miserably?
No, I'm hoping for that outcome too.

I feel like the Bengals are more talented than their winless record suggests. They won’t be worse than Miami.

Re: All Things NFL

Is this the wildest NFL offseason ever?
  • Kyler Murray drafted to replace Josh Rosen
  • Antonio Brown forcing his way to a trade and nearly retiring because of his helmet
  • OBJ traded to the Browns
  • Tyreek Hill investigation, no suspension
  • Andrew Luck retiring at 29
  • LeSean McCoy, once (and maybe still?) considered a future HoFer cut by the Bills
  • Blockbuster Clowney trade followed immediately by blockbuster Tunsil trade
All it says to me is that things that don't usually happen, are going to happen in 2019. Better start preparing for a parade in Buffalo now.

Re: All Things NFL

Tyrod is a great guy, but not the answer at QB. The Wild Card game last year is all the proof anybody needs. AJ was really just an insurance policy in case they didn’t land one in the draft, but he’s hurt a little, so I think Peterman is starting the season. And Cordy was another trade to keep moving up the draft. It’s definitely a rebuilding year — I’m just hoping they have something left in Josh Allen after they spend the season getting torn down.

Re: All Things NFL

Went to the Ralph today to see the Bills v. Bengals. Whole stadium gives Andy Dalton a hero’s welcome for his last game last season and his charitable response to Bills fans’ charity. He smiles and looks grateful, then proceeds to dad dick us pretty much every chance he gets, ripping up our swiss cheese O-line and making Josh Allen’s first start completely inert. Feels great.
