Perfectly valid place to ask! We generally don't object to someone submitting a game to host before playing. A few things to be conscious of however:

~ The queue may take at least a little time before your game is up, so it'd be a good opportunity to get in on another game in the meantime.
~ The potential for players to sign up is often influenced by their knowledge of the host, which could be a bit of a hindrance to someone brand new (not an absolute killer, just something that slows the process).
