Our agents failed to stop the King's invasion of Valinor. Under cover of night we fled, gathering our loved ones and belongings, to the harbour and the nine ships awaiting us. We had planned to sail West to Middle-Earth, and to found a new life there in Eriador. Alas, there was a great storm. A wave tall enough to eclipse the peak of Meneltarma swallowed Númenor whole. Our masts were broken and our sails were tattered by the gale, and I thought us doomed, but by some miracle the wave bore our ships to the safe port of Lindon. Alas, Isildur's ship was borne South, and although I spend every waking hour gazing into the Palantír, I have not yet made contact with my son. I fear the worst, but I refuse to lose hope. I will find him, and together we will found a new Kingdom for our people in Middle-Earth, one free from Sauron's influence. For not even he could survive such a catastrophe. Narsil is a fine weapon! During my apprenticeship in Khazad-dûm I learned a great many things from the finest dwarven smiths of our time, but even they are not capable of recreating such a thing today. I won't say that the magic in dwarven craftsmanship (craftsdwarfship?) is gone, but it has certainly dwindled. And although the rings of power given to the dwarves by Sauron have triggered a sort of renaissance in weaponsmithing, I can't help but feel that a sense of ennui is permeating their society. The idea that their greatest masterworks are far behind them - works such as the Dragon-helm of Dor-lómin, also forged by Telchar, will never come close to being reproduced - has dampened their creative spirit. Anyway, Narsil truly is a one-of-a-kind artifact, and if any weapon is capable of taking out the Ainur, it's that one. It's just a shame it won't be with us when we sail East.

The Sceptre of Andúnië is just like any other, I suppose. It holds not the regality or splendiferousness of the Sceptre of Númenor, but is charming in its own right. Forged nearly 2500 years ago, this rod is crafted entirely of the most exquisite elemental silver. Engraved into the head is a beguiling depiction of the first Lord of Andúnië, Valandil, prostrating himself before Manwë, King of Arda. This curious self-debasement seems to have become somewhat of a tradition for the people of Andúnië, who are presumably content with the doom that lurks at the invariable end of their pitiable lifespan. A small comfort it will be to them, when the last of their people pass into the unknown, that I will remain present to commit their societal contributions to record.

Immortality won't save me when the King gets back from Valinor and finds out that I've lost the Palantíri. Those things are priceless, irreplaceable, and critical to the administration of Númenor! That's not even to mention what evils they could work if they make their way into the wrong hands. But I have to wonder, why would they take all seven? With just one they can have a peek into any nook or cranny in the kingdom, why would they need more? I have a hunch that this is the work of the Elendili, and that they're deliberately (and successfully) trying to take down our kingdom's infrastructure in preparation for some large-scale attack. If that's the case, I really am in trouble.

The white tree burned softly in the temple of Melkor. And even while I ordered my men to set their torches at its base, I questioned whether we were doing the right thing. Every day for over a century have I seen that tree. I met my husband in the shadow of that tree. I watched my nephews grow up playing in its branches. It's been such a fixture in my life that it's difficult to imagine crossing the courtyard tomorrow morning and not seeing it. When the King's advisor ordered us to throw an accused member of the Elendili atop the pyre, I was in such a state that I hardly blinked an eye. Is this what our Melkor worship begets us? Sauron tells us that this is the only way to truly determine the accused's guilt, but I cannot help but feel it's cost us our humanity.

Ar-Zimraphel, he calls me. The name is like a curse, a constant reminder of my usurped throne and the heresy of our people. He thinks of me as some disposable thing, incapable of resistance. At the slightest provocation, the fool revealed that he plans to use Nimloth as kindling for a sacrifice to Melkor tomorrow evening. And while I and the Elendili may be powerless to stop this, we at least can ensure the line of Telperion endures in Middle Earth. Our plot was successful, but only just. Under cover of night, Isildur managed to abscond with one of the tree's fruits. Unfortunately, he was spotted by a member of the palace guard and sustained a critical injury while making his escape. May Estë grant him a quick recovery, for he will need it in the days ahead.

Ar-Zimraphel continues to harangue me about the blasted tree out in the courtyard. With the way she carries on, one might imagine her as a gardener instead of a queen. Some days I do consider tending to the crooked thing, if only to still my wife's ever-bleating tongue. I know why she lectures me, of course. She still clings to the foolish notion of peace between Elves and Men. She believes that if I can be convinced to water a plant, that I'll begin to see the error of my ways, forgive the wrongs that have been done to us, and call off the invasion mere days before we set sail for the Undying Lands. It is absurd. Our people will not be denied that which is owed them.

The year is 3319 of the Second Age. Under the leadership of its King, Ar-Pharazôn, Númenor is preparing itself for war against the Valar in the Undying Lands. Nearly all preparations are complete; however, there is a slight problem. The King's advisor, Sauron, has discovered that agents of The Elendili have infiltrated the King's court. Luckily, he has already devised a plan to root them out...

As the title suggests, this game is based on the events leading to the destruction of the Númenóreans. Yes, it is Lord of the Rings themed! No knowledge of the theme is necessary, though.

The Elendili form the informed minority (mafia), while the Loyalists form the uninformed majority (town).


Setup Information

Three out of these four Loyalist roles are present in the game:

• Loyalist Healer (Doctor): Each night, you may protect any player (including yourself) from kills. You win when all of the Elendili are dead.
• Loyalist Gaoler (Jailkeeper): Each night, you may protect any player (excluding yourself) from kills, and prevent them from taking any action. You win when all of the Elendili are dead.
• Loyalist Hunter (Tracker): Each night, you may track any player (excluding yourself) to learn whom they visited, if anyone. You win when all of the Elendili are dead.
• Loyalist Investigator (Parity Cop): Each night, you may inspect any player (including yourself) to learn whether they are Quenya or Sindarin. One of these groups corresponds to the Loyalists and one corresponds to the Elendili, but you do not know which is which. You win when all of the Elendili are dead.

The Loyalist power roles can only take actions on N1, N2 & N3.

The rest of the Loyalists receive the following role:

• Loyalist (Vanilla): You win when all of the Elendili are dead.

The Elendili have a different power each night, in addition to their factional kill (there is no factional kill on N0):

• N0, Fruit of Nimloth: Target any player to secretly make them execution-immune for Day One.
• N1, Palantír: Target any player to learn their role, or target yourself to learn which Loyalist role is not present in the setup.
• N2, Sceptre of Andúnië: Target any player to make them action-immune, or target the player performing your factional kill to make it go through protection.
• N3, Barahir's Ring: Use any power from Palantír or Sceptre of Andúnië.
• N4+, Narsil: If there are an odd number of players, target any player to kill them.

The Elendili must specify who is performing the factional kill, and who is performing the other ability. It may be the same person. They may also speak privately via Discord at any time.

• Daily post cap is 50 and does not lift near end of day.
