Fifty fifty...this game is pretty low participation and I'm not sure many people would have been around for EoD either way...but yeah under normal circumstances I agree that felt like the wolves were just sitting off to the side eating popcorn and not concerned.

That's fair, i'm just responding to whatever i see interesting and leave it at that. Can't argue against it. And i can tell you in advance that i probably won't be stronger tommorow or the days after. I might analyse a little more when a wolf dies but i can't guarantee it.

You realise mac came around a few hours before EoD too, threw a few reads with little substance, started crying about town throwing and claimed his identity?
I don't see why you ''feel bad'' about pushing mac but shitting on Skinner is fair game. Isn't that the same thing?

The track is fine. Otto sits in the upper half/middle of the threadstate atleast from my POV. That's where the mafia kill will usually come from. Tinfoiling that he is mafia the moment he doesn't die N1 doesn't do us any favours so putting focus on it isn't a good look.

Don't think anyone even said anything about his play either, just the track itself. I agree that his play is not good anyway.
I felt bad about pushing Mac into claiming Mac. For one thing, at the time I was pretty sure that I had gotten a townie modkilled, which seems like a pretty reasonable feels bad man, and for another I think the blatant breaking of the sock puppet theme was unpleasant and disruptive.

As for Skinner, yeah I have shit on basically every aspect of his play...including the track.

Re: The Simpsons [DAY 2]

These two oldsters circling each other like teen agers at the prom...ugh.

Smithers, get the hounds in the kennel, we don't want them to see this.

So I'm gonna blast out a giant wall here, just because it's all I'm gonna do. I'm beat flat.

I have reread the entire thread though, with an eye on Grampa Simpson. My first observation is that he is a native of CFC and that explains a LOT about how this game has gone for him. His disputes on day one struck me very much as two people talking past each other, where both made sense to me but neither seemed able to follow the other.

As an example, Marge is playing from "Syndicate wolves work hard, so Homer's gif posting goof offery is not wolfy." Grampa is playing from "I didn't really say it was wolfy, I said it was bad." He arrives, reasonably, at "why are you defending bad play?" while Marge is still on the idea that it isn't bad play, it's 'Syndicate town telling' and Homer is really helping us out with his "light hearted playfulness instead of wolf intensity." Talking past each other.

Since I only play an occasional game on the Syndicate I get it. It's hard to town "the Syndicate way" when you play a lot in places where towns are intense, not woo-foo look at me gif happyfests.

Knowing that Grandpa is not a regular Syndi-cat also makes it easier for me to get around the Mac wolf read. Mac was wrong about me when he thought I was a Syndi-cat too, but backed off when he recognized me. I'm guessing he was seeing a similar "wolfiness" in Grampa.

So I have done what I told Hugh I would do. I don't particularly think Grampa is a wolf...but as a CFCer he always could be a wolf. None of the reasons people have read him as a wolf are really compelling though. Those are just things that if I'd been thinking about it would have been CFC indicative, not alignment indicative.

On other subjects...

Mac did wolf read Lisa. So do I. The day one disappointment when I read the ISO still stings. I had thought she was involved and making committed statements on stuff, but reading back it was all hollow. There were posts. There were posts that looked like they were about a read, or about taking a position, but ultimately they were just meh and there weren't near as many as I had thought. Today she gets in a little back and forth with Allison and has little to nothing to say to or about anyone else in the thread. The...heat...makes her posts stand out and be remembered as more than they really were...again...and she faded...again. If she doesn't come back stronger tomorrow than she did day one I could vote there.

Among the things that she "took a stand on" that to me is just contrariness was the Otto track from Skinner. Hugh joined in on this one. This is a Syndi-cat sweetness cloud thing. "Oh it was a good track! You must be wolfy to say it was a bad play! Only wolves are mean here at the Synficate!" Bull. That was a terrible track, and Skinner has played a bad game overall. Day one was "I can just luff it and show up at two hours to EoD and claim." Day two has been, so far, now that I am lock town I can say I cleared my slot and they can't really ask for more from me." It is basically true, and looking around at the people who haven't really cleared their own slot, including me, it's hard to argue, but c'mon. Take some responsibility for getting the town a win, since you are confirmed town. And people who look at this and say "so mean, Burns must be wolfing"...get over it. If town players don't hold each other accountable who is gonna do it for them?

All that said...Comic Book Guy is awful. Homer is awful. They might be town, maybe, but other than "they just DGAF so town," which I think is maybe the most ridiculous clear of all time, how do we know? I mean, how hard is it to fake IDGAF? I'd probably be a solid town read right now if instead of this rant I had just posted a cute "I'm tired" gif and gone to bed. I get it Marge, Syndicate wolves care about the game...compared to Syndicate towns, apparently true. Maybe that's why they almost always win. Hell, Otto is the towniest town in town and I believe it isn't just role play, he might be stoned off his ass.

So I dunno what I'm gonna do tomorrow. If I get a wolf read somewhere, or even if someone makes a decent case, I'll probably go with it. If not I'll just drive a stake through the heart of some maybe townie that I just don't see any hope for in regards to clearing themselves.

If I look at Gramps, will you look at the Marge/Homer thing that I haven't sorted out yet?

They both said something about knowing who Bart is...and I am bothered by not knowing who Bart is...plus it just feels like maybe one of them pocketed the other there.
I'm about to crash out for real this time, it's getting ridiculously late.

Sure why not, I'll look over it tomorrow when I get back. I still got some stuff I'll sleep on.
Smart. Smarter than me. I just read through Grampa's ISO and it did me no good at all because I had barely started when I said "read fast or you won't make it before you fall asleep in the chair." It may as well have been an eye chart. I'll look again tomorrow and let you know. Probably not until fairly late again. I have a busy Monday.

Marge Simpson wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2020 3:21 am When will Syndicate learn that the scum on this site actually care about the game
I can agree with this...but there is still the option to say "look at all the people like Marge, maybe I can just slank through." Especially in an anonymous game.

So I'm gonna ask you the same thing I asked Hugh earlier...

How about instead of "oh you chopped a slanker, bad job you," you explain what you think we could have done better, and why you didn't do it?

You had a "wolf read" that you are apparently supremely confident of. I certainly didn't and I admit it. Since I didn't I chopped someone that didn't seem like they were going to be any easier to solve day five than they were day one. To me, that was making the best of a bad situation.

You have this "wolf read." You had no case. I know you had no case because I am still here. If we as a town had had a good case on a suspected wolf we wouldn't have been stuck sifting through the low posters. Whatever wild feelies you have that I am a wolf, they are not productive.

If you are town, which I really have no great reason to think that you aren't, get productive. Instead of flinging a naked vote (and yes a comment about the role playing with Smithers and the hounds still leaves that vote naked) at someone you did not have a real case on yesterday either go through my content, of which there is plenty and make your case, or move on and share your thoughts on the rest of the game so the rest of us can at least evaluate your slot.

I see you're conceding your initial point. I accept it.
This kind of bullshit "claim victory" post, outside a mafia game, would be straight up trolling.

I liked some of your reads, think others were just gum bumping but want to check them before I say anything more, and...really want people to look closely at something you brought my attention to...

You said "I usually find the "lol" and other laughing acronyms as scum tells sometimes when they don't really match the tone and vibe of a player, and they're like using them to sweeten their post and comes off as anxious." I think that showed a lot of potential self awareness, in the "people have told you you have a wolf tell" kind of way.

But not in the real way where you can use that information to clean up the tell. How many nervous chuckles can you fit in a single wall post man?

You have joined the game though, and like I said even though your read on me is nothing but conf biased bullshit some of them are really good, so for now

The fifteen minutes in between those posts we were talking about game state stuff that he knew was the kind of thing I would want his thoughts on before he got the mod kill he was expecting, by the way. Reading back over it I guess maybe some people not having the benefit of knowing that was Mac talking to me wouldn't recognize it as the absolute deluge of town spew that it was...but wolf Mac caught in that mistake and thinking he was mod bait would have been antispewing on PEOPLE, not helping me with game state analysis. He was town, he was dying, and even if it was exaggerating to say "Inno Child and everyone knew it" I stand by the statement that there is no possible wolf team where all three members said "oh, yeah, we'll be able to get a mischop on Mac any old time, let's kill..."

By the way, given Skinners 'results,' good job wolves not trying to kill him.

I'm reassessing so the only reads I have right now that aren't stale are on the few people who have shown up so far.

Grampa I have as low hanging fruit that may or may not be a wolf. I figure enough people are chasing him around that he is gonna get sorted so I'm paying more attention to how the chasers chase than I am to him.

Otto I had as a pretty hard town read yesterday and I think him being ready to dive in was a good look that is consistent with that. He asked the most sensible question there was available (Skinner spill results) and interacted a bit in ways that were somewhere between active probing and waiting around for Skinner. No faults.

You I think I trust, despite our disagreements on Hugh Jass. Primarily, I think Mac knew who you are and if he is right he is a very reliable read on you...and he called you town. Of course he might have been wrong and I also may be misreading who you are so that's not in stone. But for now it's good enough.

Bart I like. I liked Bart yesterday, and I like that they have at least a couple reads even though one is me and is wrong, and I like the way they looked into what I said.

And my take on CBG is that the pop in skip at SoD was not a good look. I think yesterday there was a townread there by Otto and a couple others that was too early, and CBG reacted like "oh cool, I'll coast then." I have seen townies do that, but it is much more of a wolfy thing. Usually townies who get a kind of consensus townread will feel some freedom and really 'dig in' on investigating and pushing.

Skinner..."wait I'm the tracker" kept us from killing him, and then he tracks Otto. Maybe we shoulda killed him after all.

This is not true. You clearly indicated that you thought Flanders was scum well after he claimed Mac and posted on his main. I called you out on it here.
What you linked doesn't say what you're saying it says.

When you called me out on it, I replied with a clear reason why I wasn't 100% convinced that he was lock town. That doesn't mean he was still a strong wolf read. It just means I saw a world where he could be a wolf by going "just kill me before the host does, but by the way it'd be smarter if you killed someone else..." (granted, at Burns' behest)
Saying that Flanders spewed himself clear means that you are pretty convinced he was town.
I take it you weren't here when Mac hard claimed Mac, realized he had broke the rules, assumed he was getting modkilled, and just spewed town all over himself since he was dying anyway...I don't think anyone who knows Mac, and I'm guessing most people here do, could have looked at that as anything but town.

Your reasoning here is almost suspiciously bad.
It has been 3 hours since the start of the day and he is already pushing who he thinks is scum. I have no idea what about that behavior makes you think he is being complacent. If we had exed Flanders you would be pushing Milhouse today with the exact same logic.

How has Flanders and Milhouse' flips and Skinner's claim not made you change the way you are looking at this game at all?
Flanders flip didn't change anything because Mac basically made himself an Innocent Child...I'm not mad at him for it, it's just a mistake, but that's the way it went...so I'm not surprised he got NKed since no wolf team on earth was ever gonna chop him, and there is no info to be had from him flipping town since we all should have already known that.

Milhouse was a good day one chop...would have been a lot better if we got lucky and hit wolf, but if he played every day like he played day one we probably don't know any more about him at end game than we knew at EoD. I am actually taking something from that flip and changing my view though, because I think Hugh Jass making a big deal out of "I skimmed the thread and called the flip" is suss as hell.

Skinner's claim just is what it is...I pushed, he claimed, I found another place to vote. I dunno what else there is to make of it. When he comes in with some sort of results I'll certainly take them into account.

And no, if "we had exed Flanders" I wouldn't be gunning for Millhouse...I'd be trying to find out how anyone in their right mind could have exed Mac after he waterbombed town all over himself other than just being a wolf.

I have made reads. I called Mill a townie, and he flipped Town. I called Gramps a wolf, and I'm calling you one now.
three names drawn apparently from a hat and attached to words aren't "reads."

Sorry twenty minute man, but I just am not ready to buy into "I showed up, skimmed the thread, and KNEW the low poster was town." If you did REALLY KNOW it's because he wasn't in your wolf room. If you are just "well, he was no worse than rand and I happened to guess right" then get off your high horse.

I'm not sure why I'm being compared to Allison, she's been around much earlier than me and has been active throughout a good period of the phase from what I see. I guess we have in common our suspicion of Gramps, is that why you're comparing me to her.

Do you just not even read? I wasn't comparing you to Allison, don't flatter yourself.

I was comparing HER TAKE on you to MY TAKE on you to try to figure out how we are seeing you so differently.

So what, Hugh Jass decided he was going to slank his way to victory as a wolf, peeked into the thread and saw 0 votes on him and a consensus on exeing some random lurking townie, and decided "now is the time I'm going to burst into the thread with a strong scumread and start pushing it"? I don't buy that story. He seemed pissed off and unhappy with the town consensus and tried hard to push an alternative exe (Gramps). He opens the next day saying it was a terrible elimination. He doesn't feel like someone complacent or content with the D1 gamestate to me.

I hate this read. I think this comes from a wolf more often than not, like it doesn't feel real at all. It's scheme-y as hell, the way he engages and accept the suspicion on gramps at a superficial level without getting into anything concrete, while at the same time shading me who also happen to be at odds with the gramps.

Like the way he goes one about gramps being suspicious for several reasons, and me suspecting me for none of those reasons. The emphasis of none feels fake lol.

Waiting for him to expand.
At least I have made reads twenty minute man.

NOBODY was ecstatic about chopping a low poster...but nobody had a solid wolf read to put up instead either, least of all you. Most of us had to deal with that, and you come waltzing in at the end having done FUCK ALL and smugly spout about how we should have chopped better? NO SHIT we should have chopped better, and if a bunch of people hadn't lamed off the day JUST LIKE YOU DID maybe we would have.

Now you had your "big EoD outburst" and a 24 hour night phase went by and you are back...and getting ready to start catching up. I get it, some people sign up and life catches them, and some people just wanna put nothing into the game...but coming in here with this "I was here for twenty minutes and y'all bad chopped" is flatly infuriating.

I still don't like the Homer/Marge/Bart recognition and meta mutual town society...seems like it would be easy to infiltrate for a wolf...probably not more than one though.

It's two hours to EoD Skinner and the only way you could think to work your way off the block was to out yourself? If you are town tracker that was a SPECTACULARLY bad play. You could have just read a bit and at least waited to see if the day was gonna end in a modkill.

Because after asking us to chop him before the mod-kill he told Burns the best move is to chop someone else, and to me that seems suboptimal for town and better for wolves.
Who did he tell Burns to exe?
He didn't specify...I was just trying to sort through the numbers as to whether chopping him was the right move after he suggested chopping him before he got MKed...it seemed like it might have some merit at first glance, but I think everyone agreed it was not best play mechanically.
