Night One: The Life And Death Of James Moriarty
Image

Death was significantly less...significant than James had imagined it would be. A flash of light, a rush of air, and that was that. He was, according to all logical thought, dead. The Voice had sent him, along with what seemed to be every other fallen participant, to a new place. The Red Room he called it, and every second spent there sent a chill through Jame's bones. And it was this new place, this Red Room, that proved to be the real obstacle. The Voice had given them all new names, new memories, to go along with their new home. James was Vompatti, at least he'd been given the chance to remain a psychotic killing machine. He'd imagined that the Voice had planned on completely wiping his old life away, replacing it with this new one. James however was far too intelligent and perhaps far too insane to simply accept an entirely different reality. The mental stresses of having two lives and two sets of memories was wearing James thin. He had to focus, had to really concentrate to remember who he was. His old life came to him in flashes that he wrote along the walls of the room he was in, muttering to himself like a lunatic. Mnemonic devices, poems, and short songs were employed to keep him aware of his past life.

But for all his efforts to remember James Moriarty, the persona of Vompatti clawed and scrapped and scratched its way into his psyche. He felt an uncontrollable urge to kill and cause chaos. His mind wandered, barely able to focus on anything but the sound of screaming victims; the sight of spraying blood. Whatever the Voice had done to him, he ached all over, the only possible relief seeming to be surrendering to these murderous urges. He could feel the brilliance and precision of James Moriarty give way to utter randomness and wonton destruction. Occasionally, vague glimpses of his partners Rumpelstiltskin and Catherine Martell pulled him from the brink, and he could barely remember machinations of taking control of the Voice itself. Then, just as quickly, he would snap into a mindless state. Finally Vompatti was unable to control himself any longer, or perhaps what was left of James Moriarty had decided to play along and bide his time until an opportunity for revenge presented itself. In either case, it was time to test the mettle of this new reality by killing one of it's inhabitants.

Vompatti's prey was selected by pure happenstance. Or maybe James' prey was selected after careful deliberation and meticulous planning. Regardless, both men agreed that Devin the Omniscient had to die. The only question remained how to kill a man in a room full of people without being noticed. Vompatti didn't care who saw him, but James had an unshakeable desire to remain undetected. The two reached a compromise, in that they would lure Devin as far away from everyone else before doing the deed. James and Vompatti approached Devin casually, using all of James' charm to lure him into a false sense of security. They smiled and exchanged pleasantries, discussing the Room and it's many mysteries.

"Were you reading something?" Devin asked suddenly, pointing to James' and Vompatti's face. They were both quite puzzled, and reached a hand to their face only to discover that in this iteration of their lives, they wore reading glasses.

"No." James replied. "But that certainly makes this easier." He plucked the glasses from his face, running his hands over the frame and the lenses pensively.

"Makes what easier?" Devin inquired. James snapped one of the stems of his new glasses off and plunged the splintered piece into Devin's neck, drawing him close for a hug that would conceal his murderous actions from the rest of the people in the room. He jabbed and stabbed Devin's neck in quick succession, Devin only able to let out a few soft gurgles of protest. When he was done, Vompatti's shirt was drenched in blood from his collar down to his belly. Devin's body slumped over, and Vompatti set him down gently in the corner of the room, closing his eyes with his fingertips.

"I guess some things never change" Jim said. Then, in a completely different voice he replied out loud to himself, "Ture."

Alex, if this is the easiest way for you to end it, then I'm fine with that. And I'm sure all of us are. It was a very exciting, unique game!

alex - I really wish you would consider the idea of boom and I both winning. I know it goes against his win conditions, but since we are stopping the game w/o playing it all out....he played hard and he played well. I played hard and I played kinda ok. I think we both deserve it. I dislike that my win comes at the expense of his. You are the host - you can create or dis-create at your pleasure. I'm only in this game in the first place because daisy decided that everyone on team Blue Lazor won - live or dead, playing or not. As far as I'm concerned, boom would have been a townie had I not been conned. :noble:

Nevinera wrote:Also, I feel like the way I played my role kind of broke the game, and I didn't intend that to happen. I apologize for that.

When moriarty mentioned me early, I hinted a little because I thought I was going to get creamed in the lynch vote, but them MP gave us a code to break that clarified my win condition to such a degree that I was left in an unpleasantly safe and powerful position :-(

So I pivoted into coalition-building, since I did still want to win in the safest way possible - when god gives you pie, you eat pie.
i thought when I got the role hint - you were henderson. :sigh:

I thought it was when you were worried my death was you related. my powers were sooo insanely crazy to try to predict then apparently everyone who could manip a power maniped mine. I got to the point where I literally asked alex - here's my notes on my menu. I know you know things outside of the game - can you help me fill in the blanks as best you can.

fwiw - my role hints - were the youtube videos initally - the "it must have been those pills I took" the "you did it to yourself" (because somehow my eating something made *me* insanifed) but the *big* hint - the one BDH referenced was the most daring - it was my off topic diatribe about how I had to eat the LAST 3 THINGS IN MY PANTRY. It came *after* lizzy had said that she was King of Town in the original game. I was hoping that if she and SD were civ - they would pick up on the fact that I was talking about eating the last three things in the pantry. Obviously - bdh knew we weren't in that dire of economic states and picked up on it right away.

After the bit about the last three things in the pantry though, I never hinted. And goosey nailed my role. :D I avoided responding to it because I thought that doing so would be confirming or denying.

Awesome lynch result was awesome! :D
Nevinera wrote:We will still need to lynch boomslang, unless Bea dies tonight in a mysterious sock-motivated explosion of some kind.
We'll probably need to do it twice :-\

The logic that he's cohen is solid, though far from proof.. but he hasn't really argued the point.
Of course if whatever is in these packages kills either of them, that could easily change.

linki: OH GOD THE SUSPENSE! :-)
I'm confused as to what my dying tonight would have to do with how many times we would need to lynch boomslang.

birdwithteeth11 wrote:BIH Elo! Glad to see you go! Hoping Hedge was up to no good, but now I'm starting to think she wasn't.

So either one of two things will occur with the packages:

1) Each number corresponds to 1 of the 4 of us. If the number that represents any of the 4 of us is pressed, that person explodes and dies.

2) Same as before. But instead, each person explodes if the button is NOT pressed.

At least that's what I would conjecture. So if that's the case, I think the 4 of us need to agree to all do the same thing. So either we all push our buttons or none of us do.

Now as for which Sock would do, I'll have to think about that one. Anyone else with other ideas is more than welcome to discuss them too.
I actually agree with all of this. I'll also add this:

We have no way of knowing if we hold our own button or someone else's button. I can see the scenario SVS talked about where each button we have corresponds to a different player. Since boom is the one who is suspect, I can't see any reason to risk just one of us pushing the button (or not) while the rest of us do the opposite. If we accidentally aspolodey ourselves we'll seriously hurt our voting power. :(

So yea - I think all in or all out is the best way to go. Just not sure which one to choose. Again, more roulette as far as I'm concerned. I will go with what the rest of you decide.

Lizzy - that's the best gif ever! Well played

I'd like to add, that by no means do I think that my opinion is the end all be all of everything. Vote your way. Play the game your way. Your opinion does matter. And there has been a lot going on. I've forgotten things and needed reminding of them, so has FH, so has Nev, so has everyone. True. But no one seems to be even acknowledging that the possibility (probablility, certainty) that our host is fucking with us exists. And while some people might not know this, some should. like me, like you. The tone of this remark strikes me badly.

I certianly never meant to make you feel that way. you asked why I thought DF was civ, I said why. I could be wrong, obviously I don't think I am, but I could be. You're right there are unknowns but being they are unknown, I can't really factor them in can I?

I think somewhere in the Elo/Hedgey/Boom territory is likely to net us a baddie. I'm willing to listen to anyone's opinion on why we should vote one of them over the other. I'm willing to listen to anyone's theory about just about everyone tbh.

"I feel pretty confident that DF is a civvie. Also Bea and DH are pretty trustworthy, imo. Not so sure about BWT..."

The papers were signed by Jack Torrence. "Wait... wasn't Jack Vompatti??? And wasn't he dead???" inquired juliets. The champions pondered.
At this point Vompatti had already been lynched as Jack. So that occurrence either had to come from the Sinister Exaggerator, or a civvie role that can take on another role's power. Since we are fairly certain at this point that the Manipulators are no more, then it stands to reason DF isn't part of that team. So the question you have to ask yourself, is would the Sinister Exaggerator write a scene saying someone appears civvie if that person isn't their teammate? Or is there a more friendly explanation for the message on the papers?

:SVS:
this is what I was referring to as well. So I guess hint isn't the correct word, rather interpretations based on what I can reasonably think is likely to have happened. That coupled with the timing of when his suspicion of me went away and I got moved closer to the likely civ side of things, had me pencil in a role for him. I could be wrong in that role, but like with goosey, it doesn't seem to fit with what I'm seeing in the thread.

Bea I am interested in this thought right here. Do you still think mongoose had something to do with your rezz? Considering you defended her yesterday but now place her and I as tier 2 suspects I am just wondering. Based on ths statement and some thinking I have been wondering if mongoose is in fact a very useful civvie.

Now that we know it was a tie between Boom and Elo, there are only so many reasons that could have happened. Based on Nevs thought that Percy could have influenced the vote, there are only 3 people that could be: Mongoose, bea, and Elo.

Based on bea statements above if BDH were thomas and his partner Percy had the ability to rezz someone, wouldnt it be likely that person would rezz bea? Only other way I see this working is if bea is Percy. Thoughts?

This would make me reevaluate my stance on Mongoose. Otherwise I will probably vote for her again.
I think goosey rezzed me via a prize. It is how I read her hints. I am not Percy. I do not think she is Percy. I think Percy is very much alive. I was not throwing her under the bus. I did not say I was voting her nor did I vote her. I WAS saying that maybe I'm missing something if so many others seem to think she is bad.

You and she and fh are in this weird middle ground for me.

Re: [DAY 12] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions

I'm going to be on my phone most of the day.

In terms of ? my largest ones are for Boom, Elo and SD.

Hedgey and goosey are in the next level. It's possible one of them are conning me in my feelings of civness.

I feel pretty sure that DP is civ.

Then SVS, Nev and Lizzy.

I'm most sure I'm civ.

I have no idea where to vote, but I'm willing to follow what those I trust most think is best. I've had crap luck trying to figure anything out. :(

In any event. I was able to read and I know nev is civ.

I know the confirmed ones are civ.

I'm curious though that the confirmed ones and lizzy seem to be at odds at times? why is that?

I love all of you - just don't always understand when mom and dad fight.

Re: [NIGHT 11] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions

timmer wrote:Okay, so let's break this vote down (and I go on the assumption that the baddies have indeed merged into one):

Boomslang
3 - Mongoose (8), bea (11), Elohcin (12) 23%

Elohcin
5 - Boomslang (2), Nevinera (4), S~V~S (6), Spacedaisy (7), Flyin' High (9) 38%

Mongoose
3 - Lizzy (3), timmer (10), Hedgeowl (13) 23%

Proposition 1: Elohcin is bad

In this scenario, I assume Boomslang is not a baddie as he started the vote off on Elohcin. I also assume Nevin and SVS aren't bad, natch. I don't see Spacedaisy as a teamie as her vote seems too early for throwing in the towel. All other votes happened so close to the end that I assume that indeed no throwing of towels happened, so I doubt in this scenario that FH would be Eloh's teammate.

So to me, if Elohcin is bad, her teammates are more likely among the Boomslang voters. 1) Boomslang is clearly not on a team with Eloh. 2) Eloh had the option to vote against Mongoose but opted to vote WITH Mongoose against Boomslang. So I believe that if Elohcin is bad, the strongest likelihood is that Mongoose is as well, and Bea is either bad, or has been roped into trusting Mongoose.

So if Eloh is bad, I'm calling Mongoose as bad. It's obv not definite, but it's the strongest likelihood based on the day's vote.

Proposition 2: Boomslang is bad.

If Boomslang is bad, his early vote for Elohcin makes sense. Considering how scattered we all were today, I'm sure the baddies were quite agitated at the lack of votes. Baddies hate leading the action, but they hate waiting too long for push the group as well, so I'd say in tho scenario, Boomslang's vote makes sense as he was likely starting to sweat.

If he has teammates, in this scenario, Space daisy and FH would make sense. Once Elohcin was at 3 votes and Mongoose was at 1, it would seem like a good time to get on board the Eloh train. The more votes someone takes on, and the more someone is destined to be lynched, the less likely it is for the next civ voters to mount a defence and vote someone else (in my experience, anyway), so at LEAST one of SD or FH would likely be a Boomslang teammate. In this scenario, I see Mongoose and Bea as likely both civ. And Hedgeowl ends up as a possible teammate, as hedge's vote came right in the dying seconds, and baddie teammates may have felt they had the lynch safe so why not throw a vote on a third party?

So if Boomslang is bad, I'm calling at least two out of SD, FH and Hedge as his teammates.

Proposition 3: Mongoose is bad (but Elohcin is good, otherwise see Prop #1)

When Goose voted, the vote was 4 votes Elohcin, 1 vote Mongoose. If the baddies felt that the lynch was going Eloh's way, Goose may have felt safe making this play. I could see any of Boomslang, SD or FH as teammates, especially the latter two. In this scenario again, Bea could be a teammate but could also be a misguidedly trusting civ. And again, Hedge could be a teammates who felt safe burying a vote on Goose.

In short, things are clear as mud.

I strongly feel that if Elohcin bad, then Mongoose is as well, and Bea becomes not very trustworthy, but I feel better about SD, FH and Hedgeowl.
If Boomslang or Mongoose are bad, but Elohcin isn't, then FH, SD and Hedgeowl look more bad.

Prop 4: None of the three are bad.

This is very unlikely, but if somehow all three of Elohcin, Mongoose and Boomslang are civ, then the only really suspect votes are back to SD, FH and Hedgeowl. In this scenario, Hedgeowl becomes more likely than in the other scenarios, as a buried last-second vote becomes way more likely to be that of a baddie.

What do you guys think? I don't want to make Zodac's head spin, but we've got to analyze this!
As much as I love our off topic times - and I know we're all waiting on zodac's decision, I still think - maybe some more indepth comment might be made on this.

Prop 4 is very interesting.

Also- as a side note - since in the red room things are "opposite rules" and "your role in the red room is not related to the role you had in the other game" Anyone else think that the MP role = zodac?
I'm mildly jelly that wine isn't my reason these days. my son turned 10 months yesterday! It's amazing and scary at the same time. 10 months of sleep I will never get back. :offtobed:

Something clicked for me and I now understand why you placed trust in Mongoose, Bea. Also, if you are right, she will not be lynched. That will change the next lynch cycle for me a lot I think, so will be interested to see how this night goes.

Interesting point about MP = Zodac. I have no idea how closely he is tying these two games together. I keep feeling like we are in for a "surprise" Jk this game doesn't matter, or does it...
Timmer - that analysis was pretty spectacular actually.
I'm admitedly a bit on pins and needles to see how tonight ends. I would not want to be in zodac's shoes right now.

10 months! Wow. You are a trooper lady! I assume if you are not having wine you're doing the whole natural feeding thing? How long do you have to go till you're allowed grown-up things again? Also - the first time you get a sitter are you going to go cray-cray or catch up on sleep? You poor thing.

That makes me sad teefies. - you will be sad when I die too. Maybe not today - but at endgame.

You are just as wrong about me as I was about you.

I'll give you my most first subtle role hint - since it was a private joke that really only the host and I could know about. My feelings about my insanifcation:

I'm really sad that the creator of the role and the person who had the role haven't picked up on my hints. They were the ones I was targeting. But maybe you are right teefies. Maybe my lynch will illuminate people. I've been trying to hint that far back. Others have picked up on it - but yet not the person that held the role before me nor the person who created the role. All I can say - is I've been hinting that role subtley that far back. I'm sure if you go back through all my posts you'll see it. That's a really hard thing to lay down tracks for if I'm Martell is it not?

At least give me that much.

hedgey - why wouldn't we know their role if zodak picks? We have - always gotten a role reveal with his kills that I can remember. Dom being the first.

Nevinera wrote:Bea said she still had the shield then, that it gets handed off every two days in this game.
I had the sheild the night I was targeted. That's why I survived. BB and Creeper attacked me. BB's attack was the work of Grady as far I can tell.

I thought *at first* that I only had the shield for one night, not 2. I tried to pass it off the first night because I thought I was supposed to. It took me a good 30 seconds when *I* read my survival for me to realize *why* I survived. I passed it on the next night to the person I was going to pass it off to the first night because I still had good feels about them.

I'm not BB - I'm not obviously - meat boy. I never ever claimed to be those roles so if people are doubting me because they thought I was those roles, the fault lies in the fact that they picked the wrong role for me. Any hinting I've done has been super subtle and will only make sense if I'm lynched and my ture role is revealed.
