Re: Game of Champions: West Facility (Day 2)

Long Con wrote: Thu Feb 01, 2024 7:29 pm Half hour left, and I really don't know who's going down. Sig is in the lead right now, but no one trusts the current voters enough to want to add more votes.

I'm still waiting for sig to engage at all with the case he supposedly likes, but I guess it's not going to happen, and that's because referencing my case was all he really needed, to help hold a seeming suspicion on Seanzie.

Not to mention, I mean, come on, who comes out and says they like a Long Con case? Never happens, that's the biggest red flag of all if you know your Syndicate mafia.

You guys wanna give sig a whirl? I could handle Delta, or leetic... and Porscha or Rico if that's where people wanted to go. I still have the juice to vote Seanzie, for the record, as well.
Bad juice.

I might join you on Sig, but am also kind of okay with Sig/Porscha wagons.

You've brought them up quite a bit in days past, but it hasn't felt like it has gone anywhere. I'd expect you to have a lot to say about them by now, so maybe a summary of your thoughts and feelings on them from D0 to now?

The shitting on other people's effort without at least parlaying that into meaningful suspicions struck me as, well, shitting on other people's efforts. I can't fathom a civilian reason for doing that. To then put Ricochet on an eventual pedestal is even more confusing, because Rico's work looks like a card catalog with a handwritten note scribbled onto the end (that's not meant as a criticism; rather, I don't understand how Porscha arrived at this opinion).

Hell, my own effort is from the dude who didn't even finish the assignment.

At any rate, Porscha sounded- for whatever reason- annoyed to the point that I can't hear these words spoken by the voice (and I have heard the voice). In Vocaroo III, a civilian Porscha sounded measured and unsure. In here, Porscha is bringing a goddamn shovel and ready to throw down.

But I don't recall mafia Porscha losing any shit in Don't Starve Mafia either.

So for me, this entire reaction is uncharacteristic, and I have no idea what to do with it.

Yes, that's a bunch of words to say
This is actually that scum!tell that I refused to reveal in "Don't Starve". Mafia!Porscha is... for lack of a better word... a little mean.

why
I have a secret tell on Porscha that hasn't been wrong yet, even before she broke out of her volume-tell issue. I'd rather not say what it is because I've been able to catch her off like 3 posts a few times, and I can usually find her town very quickly when she is town.
Is your secret tell TMI that she is town?
In a way. I hacked Porscha's discord, so I just pop over and check on her alignment every game. I'm not unfair about it though - if she rands wolf, I don't look at mafia chat, so that mafia still has a fair chacne.
Is there a secondary source to confirm this
No. I refused to reveal it, this is literally the first time I've revealed it. I could go and try to dig up some posts at some point to show where I've caught her but... I'm suited up going for a run, so we'll see if I do that after I get home.

I like LC train of thought on the secret Santa thing, that seems very much within his town meta.

Epi is a gut town read.

I’m liking Abigail posts even though she’s creating a town core :p

I’m eyeing Daisy right now, her play style right now reminds me of muppets, where she was present but a bit flatflooted being mafia.
Not a mention of pyxxy but the Daisy stuff looks odd in hindsight. What "playstyle" was she demonstrating by just posting one NGR post saying she's busy and then dipping?

[VOTE: Pyxxy] aubergine
No mentions of pyxxy until this last-minute vote. Like I said before, this looks like so obviously a bus that I doubt a player who's been around as long as Sig would actually go for it. Saying his townreads are on pyxxy does seem like a way to pass the buck, so I guess that's one small point against them being aligned, but it's still such a convenient excuse that I can't rule them out being wolf overall.
She (Daisy) was around or so I thought, just lurking more. This was in line with how she played Baby Muppet where we were both mafia together. So I was thinking that was her approach here. Given that she was mod killed and flipped town it's now pretty clear she ended up not having the time to play.

Yea Pyxxy wasn't really on my radar, but I didn't want to not vote so i joined the wagon

Having said that I did think I had more time to review, buuuuut, I probably wasn't going to hard push anyone. I don't have any really solid mafia reads or really even that many lock towns so I'm taking a more back seat approach for the time being.
For the record, it looks like Daisy was shot, not modkilled. Possibly a lurker vig.

The lurker vig is a guess based on flavor and I think there was one of those in a game this year. It is a guess though, nothing concrete.

Why would news of a wolf flip derail our momentum?

Who knows for your second question, but randomly mentioning someone, who you can't/won't name suspects me in another thread is just bad form and not something I could even discuss. So it only serves to throw our thread off track and distract from the pyxxy flip. This might not have been done maliciously, but the end result is still derailment.
I mean, I can't say for sure who it is, but I have a good guess.

Nothing is distracting from anything. I wanted to mention it to see how you and others react. I think you've reacted poorly. That's how the game is played.

ok look stop talking about it or you will probably get killed or else this is running at a level above my comprehension in which case pretend i never said anything
I asked the hosts what I can talk about, and from my understanding, I can talk about messages I got, as long as it is clear that this is information from another player, not any sort of host-verified information.

No. What are you seeing?

Your Secret Santa told you they flipped Wolf LC in the East side, did they?

I wonder how they went about that, considering our SS took place as day events
Presumably they waited until after EoD to write their message. One of the messages I got was written pre-flip, one presumably post-flip.

I don't actually feel any suspicion of me coming from you, Falcon. It feels more like you want a bare-minimum reason to vote me, and then likely dip in the thread to avoid being a major conversation piece.

If this is true (regarding Lime Coke), then there's a pathway to searching for his teammates in here (as well as pyxxy's).
He made only 6 posts N0, mostly fluff. If I was being super generous, I might give Abigail a non-teamed read with him.
Hmm why?
You are the only person he engaged with, and he did so with a joke in a way that I think is more likely "hey, non-teammate, I'll make you laugh so you like me" than "Hey, this is theatre".

Okay.
And again, it's a "if I'm being super generous" type read. I wouldn't bet a game on it, but if I had to pull one read out of Lime's ISO, that'd be it.
It's an okay read I just dunno how to respond I was trying to get insight into your thought process to see if it made sense and it did to me I wanted to make sure I wasn't being pocketed for a reason that didn't make sense to me

Re: Game of Champions: West Facility (Day 2)

So, I didn't like how Sig reacted to my comments about the other thread.

I mean, it's non-host info so everything should be taken with a grain of salt, but like... my claim that I got multiple messages and that Lime got elimmed will likely become common knowledge (the other thread knows who picked who for their version of secret santa [I'm guessing it was secret santa, just like ours, but perhaps something different, but one of them did mention the other, so they had some info about who was sending messages to whom {by the way, shortly after getting my messages, I laughed really hard, because I definitely did not do anything game related with my message, and realised that maybe I should have after getting two game-related messages}]). In zero worlds does making stuff up like this make any sense.

I also tried to word things in a way to make it clear that no result was being claimed against Sig (and also the rules forbid that), just someone had a read. This was his reaction:

I think we should derail the current momentum and talk about this. Is anyone else seeing what I'm seeing?

As already said they were a sock third party. The owner lucy had some goal that I can’t remember now, but it did have voting power and could be killed.

Also falcon was on my team that game not TSP.

Why would someone give "sheeping others" as a reason for a bus? IME bussing is usually to get towncred, and this doesn't really give any towncred. It is possible landlord!Sig is trying to blend in by voting here, but I'd be loathe to call that a bus in all but the most technical of senses.

So I'm wondering where this Sig thing came from. I mean, I think someone in this very thread said that Sig's N0 was wolfy, so it's not like it came out of nowhere; still, did someone in the other thread really have nothing better to do with their time than look over the N0 thread at people who weren't even playing on their side? And why single out Sig over other people, like me who was if anything under more scrutiny N0 than Sig was?
I wouldn't really say it was "nothing better to do", I mean it's part of the game. That thread also apparently wasn't very talkative, so perhaps they just had the time and knew they could send a message, so they did some work to try to help us. They also had some townreads, but I've chosen to only share the Sig scumread. Their read of you was null, if you're curious.

Landlords is one.

There is another.

There will also likely be independents.

I would be surprised if the setup were anything different.
What do you make of the only one kill? Do they target different threads, or did they happen to pick the same target, or is the other team exclusively in the other thread?
One team kills on odd Nights, one team kills on even Nights.

Alternatively, the other kill took place in the other thread.
In Severance, there was one team that killed one person in each thread each night. Not sure if it's the standard here, think it would be a bit screwy for parity if one thread can be hit twice while the other has no deaths.
The "two thread" thing is non-standard, so there isn't really a TS standard to apply here.

One thing that seems off based on my experiece with GoC is actually how few deaths we've had. Last year, I think like 5 or 6 people died N1, and two years ago there was a D1 vigfest that took out at least three or four people.

I would not count on parity, but perhaps this is outdated due to Nook not being one of the game creators (I think he was the source for much of the KP)

Landlords were a mafia team in a game, so yeah, it'd be weird to see a townie flip as a landlord.

I think Sig's suggestion that there might be two teams, Landlords, and ???, both labeled a "mafia", team but not necessarily teamed with each other sounds plausible, but honestly I think we just kill scummy things without guessing too much. We're only seeing half the game, afterall.

Why not? You think that the response to every defense a player gives has to be either "ok, I believe you're town" or "I don't believe you, you're a wolf"?

First, your answer set me back on my heels a little. "Am I the asshole here, he said I'm making stuff up instead of reading his words, I am guilty of not fully reading Night 0, maybe I'm being ignorant here." So I didn't feel enthusiastic about pushing harder if that was the case.

You then clarified that you're not saying the two accusations were the same, ok, fair... but you still said one corroborated the other, which implies a level of cohesion to things that I don't think is there.

So yeah, I didn't continue the conversation. There was lots of time left in the day.
Your acknowledgement ended our conversation, presumably in a way you felt satisfied with, but then you kept pushing the idea of scum!me in the thread with information that predated my explanation.
Is that what I did? I didn't keep pushing you at all, why would you say that??

Epignosis said he didn't know why I had voted you. I gave a quick synopsis of why.
You're now claiming your thoughts of me were waning (I actually upon reflection think this is quite a bad look, the "I was faltering on you, but now that you're pushing back, I'm back to it" doesn't look good IMO), but I don't see any indication of reflection from you, just a reluctance to keep actively pushing me while still talking about me to others.
"Indication of reflection"? "reluctance to keep actively pushing me"?? Dude, what are you even talking about, this is not real talk.

So, let's have a real look at this.

I vote you, and say the reasons why. You respond, and I say 'fine'. I don't keep pushing you. I talk about other things. My suspicion wanes a little - maybe I was basing my analysis of falcon off D1 and you were more N0. Maybe we don't view the word "corroborate" the same; maybe I'm being pedantic and I picked up the wrong vibe.

A day later, Epi asks why I voted you. I tell him. You interject with a disparaging metaphor about my reasons.

I take the disparagement as an indicator that you are stressed about my opinion of you, and I let you know. I also tell you my suspicion has waned.

Here's where things get weird. In the same post, you just accused me "you kept pushing the idea of scum!me in the thread" and said I have "a reluctance to keep actively pushing [you]". Neither of those things are true, and they contradict each other.

I did not keep pushing you in the thread, not because I was "reluctant", but because my suspicion was waning. Like I said. One might even say that a lack of pushing you might be an "indication of reflection" if you think about it.
The initial "I'm curious" line was to bait you into continuing to interact with me, but you didn't bite. Are you always so hands-off with people you suspect?
Ok, I thought that we were interacting at the time of that interaction. If you want to play coy word games, that's fine, but I might not always be in the mood, especially during times like these when you're somewhat frustrating me with the things that you ARE saying plainly.

Am I "hands-off"? I don't know, but I'm always open to understanding more about how I play, so you are welcome to look further into this idea.
The "I continue to find it curious that you aren't curious about what I'm curious about." was both wordplay and a point - you not following up with me after that does not put a good taste in my mouth. I would expect a townie to either tunnel in or show clear reflection and progression, not to feel like they wanted out of the conversation.
Out of the...? I wasn't aware that I gave that impression. I think you should expect Long Con to play like Long Con, and not toss out an arbitrary "No True Scotsman" about what townies do or don't do.
I feel like you wanted me to be a suspect, then when people like Sloonei and TSP weren't really biting, you perhaps "waned" in that you decided I wasn't a viable push, but then when I didn't let your push on me go, you've had to backtrack to pushing it again. Perhaps this lacks a bit of generosity towards a potential town!LC world, but I think this narrative makes sense in a wolf!LC world.
Why Sloonei and TSP? Did I try to get them to vote you?

This last paragraph is goofy. You should have quit while you were ahead, Seanzie, all these words here just made me much more suspicious of you than I was when I put the initial vote on.
Okay, you can be town.

Epi's Hypothesis: I'm playing the same in both of these games

:nicenod:
1.) I want some juice.

2.) I'd vote for Pyxxy.

Seanzie wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 10:55 am On the flipside, I found it quite curious how you seemed to accept my explanation without question I said "fair enough". To me, that's more of a neutral response, an acknowledgement of your response, than 'accepting without question'.

, but keep your scumread of me afterwards, I do expect most players to defend themselves in some way when they are accused. I do not automatically rescind my scumread because the accused typed some words.

citing those earlier reasons without any hint of consideration, or "waning" as you claim here, and I continue to find it curious that you aren't curious about what I'm curious about.
Now, you're, what... gettin' silly? All reasons are 'earlier reasons'. I have given your defense some consideration, but it didn't do the job of completely wiping away my suspicion of you.

Unless it was just wordplay for the sake of fun, then please fill me in on what you are curious about. I'm all ears.

Let's go through your 'earlier' defense, so that we have less misunderstanding:

Based on his suspicion of you, for saying you would have to read and try?
No. I remembered that I found him sus D0. He doesn't have any of the sharpness that town!Falcon has. Town!Falcon will make plenty of fluffy posts, but will also interject with some pointed, mildly aggressive questions and observations. Scum!Falcon doesn't do that second part, and I didn't see any of that D0. Today, him voting me without pushing or real reason just corroborates this view.
:ponder: Does it corroborate the first view though? "Voting without pushing or real reason" isn't the same as "doesn't interject with pointed, mildly aggressive etc." Right? But you are saying it does, and I just detect some level of fakeness going on here, both from the fact that falcon HAD asked such a question prior to this, and for the dodgy corroboration and general vibe.

[VOTE: seanzie] aubergine
Let me know when you want to read the words I wrote without filling in things I didn't say. I found Falcon's D0 questionable. I found Falcon's vote on my questionable. I never said that Falcon's vote was exactly the same thing as Falcon's vote on me, but that the lackluster approach to the vote corroborated my earlier view.
Looks like your main issue was that I took "corroborates" as being something that confirms or supports. I think your two accusations of Falcon are disparate, and not corroborative. One could do lots of "interjecting with pointed, mild aggression" and still "vote without pushing". One could do very little of such interjection, and vote with reasoned and well-explained logic.

If you had said "I suspect him for a lack of interjections and also voting without pushing/reasons is a suspicious thing" then it wouldn't have caught my eye. Your claim that one corroborates the other implies a more stable 'case' it forming around Falcon based on your accusation.

So, I reject the idea that I was filling in things you didn't say. You are the one who said the two reasons are corroborative, and I am rejecting that notion, and telling you that I think it's suspicious that you would try to bolster the case's strength through dubious reasoning.
I don't expect people who actually suspect me to give neutral judgements of my arguments. Your acknowledgement ended our conversation, presumably in a way you felt satisfied with, but then you kept pushing the idea of scum!me in the thread with information that predated my explanation.

The initial "I'm curious" line was to bait you into continuing to interact with me, but you didn't bite. Are you always so hands-off with people you suspect? The "I continue to find it curious that you aren't curious about what I'm curious about." was both wordplay and a point - you not following up with me after that does not put a good taste in my mouth. I would expect a townie to either tunnel in or show clear reflection and progression, not to feel like they wanted out of the conversation.

That's not a good reason to keep a suspected wolf around. :pout:
You're voting out Seanzie but I don't know why.
I found a couple of holes surrounding his vote for falcon. Things didn't completely line up for me. Didn't you read it?
*looks at piece of paper without any holes*

"Look, a hole!"
You worried, bro? :eye:
More curious.
I didn't detect curiosity in your 'paper' post. It reads more like it's important for you to jump in and discredit me. I don't see why that was really necessary, since I wasn't confronting you or trying to push others to vote for you. Epi asked me about it, I didn't bring it up.

My suspicion of you was kind of waning, but your reaction to that post doesn't feel towny, it feels like a worried wolf who needs to shut down suspicion.
On the flipside, I found it quite curious how you seemed to accept my explanation without question, but keep your scumread of me afterwards, citing those earlier reasons without any hint of consideration, or "waning" as you claim here, and I continue to find it curious that you aren't curious about what I'm curious about.
