Btw, in the show, the Final Five were actually good guys who still fought the Cylons after finding out who they really were. I don't know what impact that will have in the game, but just sayin'.

Well it's a little early, but I was pinged by it. But that's probably my paranoia and I'd be saying that about anyone who solved it.

As for the Final Five thing, I was thinking about the show, and realized that there's potentially one of the Final Five who could turn scum. Without giving too much away about the show, there is one of the Final Five who absolutely deserved to die and...did. :)

While I don't think it's inherently town-inclined for someone to solve the puzzle, I don't think it's suspicious either. Why does that behavior affect you this way, whether it's paranoia or not?
Sweet. You actually want to discuss this! Lately I kinda just say "weeelll this person's bad mkay bye" because I don't like to bug peeps with my theories.

Anywho, so maybe I kinda lied and it's not just that it could be ANYONE who solved the puzzle.

I was initially pinged by Scotty's first post, I believe it was, when he came in and said "Oh snap if I was here I could totally solve this but I got my show!" and boom, bailed. Then later, right before the deadline, actually comes back and solved it! :faint: I was like, "what?" But then again, sure I've played a few games with Scotty, but I don't know him so well, so perhaps he wasn't lying and he is actually very good at solving puzzles.

But...again, I'm Matt. Nice to meet you. So this means Scotty is probably the President or something

Can't get rid of me that easy, but k. :shifty:

Anyway, looking over the Cylon roles...some of them have different colored names. I wonder if the Cylons are split into two btsc teams.

Weird, tho, because both Sharons, Athena and Boomer, are the same color, but I would imagine they wouldn't be on the same team because they were quite opposite in the show.

Boomer started off thinking she was human, but ended up taking on the Cylon cause. Athena knew she was a Cylon from the get go, but then rebelled against them and fought with the humans. I'm starting to wonder if the bad guys solely consist of Cylons or if some of the humans are Mafia, as well.

I find this to be pure Matttalk, the Host was clear that the Final Five would be randomised, if this concerns them (and whether they will switch to mafia or anti-civ). Any civilians besides the potential F5 ones would constitute civilian traitors and should normally mess with the game balance.

Then again, this game is a semi closed setup and I've been known to burn my face off before with thinking the game would be too straightforward. :shrug2:
Pure Matttalk? Haha.

The Final Five has nothing to do with what I'm saying. Pretend they don't even exist for a moment.

What I'm saying, is that I think regular human non-cylons could be Mafia. It seems you've also seen the show, do you disagree with me that it's possible any or all of the names I mentioned could be Mafia?

Take into consideration, also, that the role list isn't divided between "civs" and "mafia", just "humans" and "cylons". And there are some Cylons (again, Athena, and the Final Five minus Tory) that could be considered "civs", so no I don't think it's "purely Matttalk". :meany:

Dude, please start talking to me like I'm a third grader cuz that's basically my mental capacity, k thanks.

Anyway, nowhere in the roles does it say civs or mafia, and I think that's interesting. It seems like Golden is a big fan of the show, so I can definitely imagine a mafia team perhaps consisting of only humans, tbh.

The only definite Mafia Cylon I could name would be Number One, John.

Or maybe I drew a Cylon card, and know I'm civvie, so I want to bring up the possibility of humans being mafia. :shrug2:

I've also seen the show and it took roughly two seasons for things to get deeply nuanced between the basic human-cylon war, especially including the three human names you keep bringing up. I'm sorry for sounding more like Epignosis and expecting at least some shred of basic good-evil clear factional antagonism, instead of predicting total design mindfrakkery.

Anyway, given Golden's shrug response to you, I believe you're right and I hit the nail on the head. This means that it's possible Dee will protect a mafia with her one use protect a human power...so use it wisely, Dee :)

This read doesn't make sense to me. Why would the scum ever target one of their own based upon this knowledge? If Dee did not use her power, a scum would die. If Dee did, there would be no kill. Now consider this on a real human target. Should Dee not use her power, a civ dies, and if she does there would be no kill. Same outcome for less risk. I do not see anything to logically validate this read.
Exactly! :srsnod:
Per the underline...

Why not? I think it'd be a neat plan. Everyone is under the assumption that only Cylons are bad guys at this point, with only the Mafia(s) truly knowing. LC comes in, says Dee should just use her power every night until it's used up. When I originally read that idea from him, I thought it was pretty cool, until I realized it's possible humans could be mafia too. Long Con, let me ask you, do you think you're capable of pulling a gambit like that?

But anyway, yes big risk, but the reward is pretty outstanding. Instant civvie cred.

Also, what is the point of giving Dee the option to use her power if there are no humans who are Mafia? Why not just make her role "While Dee is alive, the first human to be targetted at night will be auto saved." Why give Dee the option to use her power? We assume to see the pro in Long Con's plan, "oh yay no matter what we will save a civvie", but considering Dee is actually given an option to use her power, I'm thinking there's a downside as well, ie "oh oops you saved a human but he's bad m'kay".

Long Con wow did you really vote me already? Really tho, I don't care, you're still cool in my book. Put 'er there champ! *fist pumps LC* I still think you could be bad, but you coming at me like that kind of makes me do an opposite No U where now I'm curiously wondering if you're civ. Derp. Whoever said (3J I think?) that the Mafia would be more inclined to see the different colors under the Cylon names...um k. Or someone who just happened to notice it while reading the roles.

Bea - It was a small ping on Juliets, but it was there. Her immediate response of "I DID google it!!" made me laugh tho cuz it felt sincere and I'm over it.

Rico, everyone's looking at you and so am I, but I feel bad cuz you said "Oh I really like this theme, if peeps vote me day 1 I'ma gonna be a saaad panda" in the sign up thread.

Why is everyone begging 3J to town read them? :suspish:

Rico...

I thought it was clear, but maybe not. Didn't like how you shot down the idea that humans can be mafia, and kind of made it sound like a stupid (no not stupid...crazy?) idea by referring to it as "Matttalk". If you had never seen the show, I'd understand, but as a player who has obviously seen the show, I just think it's weird you couldn't get behind it. Does that make you mafia? I dunno, but as a civvie, I'd think you'd be more open to ideas about how the roles fit.

I haven't done a list yet, but here you go...

GOOD

Scotty - Say whaaaat? But Matt, he was your very first suss!! Come to think of it, tho, I'd like to give Scotty the benefit of the doubt and believe he is super good at puzzle solving and he did save our collective asses, with the grunt work being down by Polo and others, but still, he solved it.

Lorab - She's posting a lot more then she usually does, I think, and seems for real. However, in the last few games where she didn't post so much, I'd always think she's bad and I'd be wrong sooooooooooo

Marmot - I dunno why. His vote for Epi was funny.

BAD

Rico - He who has knowledge of the theme yet shoots down completely plausible ideas regarding role alignment. Hrm. Hrmy hrm.

sig - I wish I had seen the "smiley" post before LC did, because while catching up, as soon as I saw that, I was like "ummmmmm". Now it just looks like I'm latching onto LC's idea. But yeah, that was weird.

3J - Why did you capitalize "PLAN" in one of your latest posts? :ponder:

As for Long Con, I'm flippity on him. Typically if I suss someone, and their first line of action is to No U me and vote me, I'd be like "whaaaat theeeee fuuuuuuck" but I'm getting good vibes from LC doing that. Can't explain it.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - Day One

For those of you who haven't seen the show...

Every episode starts with the intro, and during the intro there are title cards that read...

"The cylons were created by man. They evolved. They rebelled. There are many copies. And they have a plan."

After the series ended, the creators came out with a movie called "Battlestar Galactica: The Plan" which was an interquel of sorts to the show, showing us the POV of the Cylons during the first few seasons.

For some reason, 3J capitalizing PLAN makes me feel uneasy. I can totes see Golden giving the baddies a challenge "one of you must capitalize the word PLAN in one of your posts on Day one" or some such.

*sigh* Rereading this, it does look like Matt talk. :sigh:

What does everyone else think?

It was what the Cylons planned to do after the failed mass extermination of the human race of the 12 colonies to try and finish the job.

Just a thought.

Wow there's like 7 players with one vote a piece and Epi two votes.

Spread much?

On that note, I'll be spreading it further with either Rico or 3J.

Really didn't like him capitalizing PLAN like that. Hrm.

K, I'm gonna bite the bullet and

Vote Ricochet

I'm honestly not sure what 3J could say to make me feel better about the PLAN thing, and at this point, I think I might just be looking into things a little too much.

Why? I think it is a much more tactful way to go about day 1's in which we know nothing and typecast everything. And it might even catch scum.
Well, for this game in particular, there's over 750 posts and you just voted someone based...

on

one

post.

Seriously. :meany:

So Say We All!

Wow, what a catch up that was. Like, two hours of reading. Fun.

EPI IS SCUM, CYLON NEED TO DIE, NO QUESTIONS ASKED!
Nowhere do the roles fully clarify that, you know.

Do you personally need all Cylons destroyed?
I find it hilarious that you say this to ika, considering the back and forth we had during Day One. On that note, I have no problem voting for ika first thing on Day 2 if he continues to spam the thread as he seems intent on doing. Don't get me wrong, I harp too, but at least I ummm word stuff differently haha. We get it, ika, "Epi is scum he must die".

I fully believe that Athena is a civilian. As I stated previous...
Athena knew she was a Cylon from the get go, but then rebelled against them and fought with the humans. I'm starting to wonder if the bad guys solely consist of Cylons or if some of the humans are Mafia, as well.
Take into consideration, also, that the role list isn't divided between "civs" and "mafia", just "humans" and "cylons". And there are some Cylons (again, Athena, and the Final Five minus Tory) that could be considered "civs", so no I don't think it's "purely Matttalk".
For real, though, I don't see Gaius and Six being on opposite factions, and I don't see Athena being a "bad guy".
Let us also remember that Golden has stated the following...
It is not necessary for you to have knowledge of the show to play. However, at times, lore will play a role in the mechanics of the game, and it could provide an explanation for events that have occurred or provide you with assistance in what to do next. At times, it may be to your faction's advantage if there is at least someone on your side with knowledge of the show, but it will never be game breaking for you if you do not. It is up to you, the players, how much you choose to research lore during the game.
It seems to me that knowledge of the show is beneficial to the civilians. Well, here's some knowledge. Athena is not a bad guy. Like at all. In fact, she does more for the human race then most of the humans on the show. It's ridiculous.

Only problem I have, and it's a small one...is Epi really Athena? I wouldn't be surprised if Boomer had a power like "If lynched, you will appear as Athena" or something like that. Buuuut...for now, I'm inclined to trust that he's really Athena.

And if that's the case, he's civvie, no matter how much ika cries about it.

Yo Glor, this was my bad too, but the colors under each role just refers to where they are currently stationed.

Can you elaborate? It's simply TRUTH (hi 3J!) that not all Cylons are bad guys, at least within the show. Nowhere in the role list does any role come with "Civilian" or "Mafia". It simply says "Humans" and "Cylons". Why aren't you acknowledging this? :puppy:

Ricochet wrote:You'll now vote ika for shooting down the idea that not everything is b&w about the races, right? :nicenod:
Actually, I'm considering it.

He's not just shooting it down, he's trying to effin' nuke the idea that some Cylons can be good.

Athena is good. Throughout the show, she earns the respect of both Adamas, Starbuck, her fellow Viper pilots, and oh yeah, she marries Helo (a HUMAN who is also good) and has a baby with him.

But yeah, Epi's gotta be scum right? :faint:
