Re: Monkey Island [DAY 0]

Greetings! Checking in, feeling like my head's gonna explode (stupid forest fire smoke/something I caught from the kiddos at work), and voting Monkey Island because seriously, that was my exact thought process when I saw "Melee Island" :P

Re: Monkey Island [DAY 1]

Okay. Feeling much better this morning, but with much limited time (as in less time), seeing as I'm at work and should be grading a stack of papers :P

:suspish: You didn't even wait.

Quick and dirty thoughts before I really, really need to get work done:

1) A beautifully quiet day 1, with pretty easy-to-catch-up pages to read.
2) A floofy, fluffy day 1 that makes it hard to get reads, but that's like saying there's smoke all over Asheville - I can mention it all I want, but I still get to deal with what I've got *coughity cough*
3) Nacho reminds me of Sloonei - lots of talk, not afraid to go after people, jumping right in, lots of talk, lots of talk. Oh yeah, kinda like MP :P
4) I don't want to vote for people contributing to the suspicion talk of the game so far today, because I complain (even if only to myself) that people get voted on Days 1 for voicing weird opinions more often than someone lurking and being cautious and not posting much (if anything) of substance. Does that make sense? Anyway, I'm starting the trend with my Days 1 votes, even if I'm the only one following the trend.
5) Who falls into that second category for me today that I notice (or rather, had to look back because I didn't notice many posts)? zebra, Eloh, motel room, Epi, Wilgy, and Vomps. Runner up includes DFaraday, because he did post about mechanics in his second post.
6) I rather liked Soneji's point about, whether or not Wilgy is fucking with us with the not checking his role (I assume the former), it does imply creating chaos which, while fun, is not particularly civ behavior. So now, so I can get back to work like a good employee, I'm voting Wilgy.

Re: Monkey Island [NIGHT 1]

Woo, caught up! That was quite an emotional thread period :puppy:

Probably gonna rehash a lot of what was said, but that's the bane of my gameplay in catch-up/mega posts. I deals with it. This is gonna be a stream-of-consciousness one, because.

Frustrated MP could be either MP. I'm inclined to see it as bad because I was on a team with him when he faked it and I hate being bamboozled, but I know he is an emotional player of any alignment. And he has been lynched early lately because of it (at least what I have noticed) being in any alignment, which is hella frustrating, I know. Today, I will be looking elsewhere. Why? It's Day 2 and I'm still in Day 1 mode of this sort of thought process:
Epignosis wrote:Time to cull the less actives. Image

Zebra can talk! Now what does she have to say? Right now, the long-lasting smiley thing doesn't make her look good to me. Gets her out of discussion while also giving off a vibe of, "Hey, I can't possibly be bad if I do something craaaaaaazy!" Looks contrived. Want to see more content.

What happened to Wilgy? Might vote him again. But minds can be changed.

Was Nacho silenced? Hmm.

Seriously folks, why should I even try if the rest of you aren't going to do shit? Honest question because I'm feeling a bit frustrated with this entire day cycle's wasted potential right now.
It's the middle of the day for many of us, dude. You know this. I'm only on because it happens to be a day where my planning is in the afternoon. And it'll be a holiday soon. And it's Day 2. Cool your jets :P

As for your sig review, what pings me more than anything about what he's been saying is his being so resolute that an entire mafia team couldn't have missed its kill last Night. This sort of thing has been happening in several games lately on this site. It would be one thing to offer his counter arguments, but to so staunchly oppose it as a non-possibility? Nah. Looks defensive. Pings real bad.

I still want to knock off inactives/slight inactives. There is no reason except inactivity to vote BR, so that's cool with me. I want to know where Wilgy went. You say zebra has played a detached and gut-read game in the past, but what she's doing right now is just detached without even gut reads. It's just...randomness. Chaotic. It's the same reason I voted Wilgy Day 1 - zebra's behavior is not civ, whatever she's doing.

So I'm good with voting any of those (includes sig, but less so than the inactives), and I need to get back to work. I'm going to mull over it a bit (maybe ten minutes or so) before I make the final call.

Feel free to ignore that nonsense. :p

Help me out here; you lost me a bit with your thoughts on sig. Why is it that his staunch opposition pings you? Like, walk me through the mindset of why a mafia sig would do that, that's where I'm lost.

She provided gut reads in saying BR and Epi are town and Snow Dog is bad, for example, but yes, they're completely unsubstantiated. The only problem with just lynching everyone who behaves in such a way (your bolded/underlined sentiment) is that just because someone is behaving chaotically does not mean their role card is mafia. It is up to us to make a determination based on the available content. I don't think lynching inactives blindly right now will serve us anything particularly productive; if we happen to hit a member of the mafia, great, but it's essentially flipping a coin.
True about a chaotic player not necessarily pulling a mafia role, but their behavior doesn't help civs. A lynch vote for zebra would not be a blind vote for an inactive - it would be voting for someone who I think is exhibiting non-civ (and I'll just outright say it - mafia-or-indy-chaotic) behavior.

And I think the discussion of inactives needs to happen - personally, I'm tired of seeing it ignored and seeing active players lynched so early and then having a dead game, so I'm happy we're going on that vein this game. Hell, it's encouraging ME to post! (Well, that and I also have more time recently to play than I have in the past couple of games.) Lynch inactives, encourage participation through group force :P

Happy Thanksgiving, all, even if you're not here in the U.S.! A high school buddy of mine condemned it for "meat worship," which made me giggle, which has led to my calling it Meat Worship Day today.

Hey @Epi!! What do you think of the notion that other BR teammates are on my shortlist? You sorta dropped that after gunning for BR. I would think you would be excited of the prospects of nailing another.

(Unpopular opinion..): Unless your teammate BR just wanted to be thrown under the bus and you're ready to move on. It would explain how out of the multiple inactives I mentioned, you chose BR. It just seems like you either learned something via night you can't disclose in thread or you yourself are her teammate. 1. MP voiced concern about "blindly" voting for inactives, and nijuu counters by saying that a vote for zebra is not a blind vote for an inactive, but a vote for someone exhibiting non-civilian behavior. So I want to circle back to the first on-topic post: nijuukyugou lamented inactives coasting but people who do things outside of the box being fair game. Isn't that what zebra was doing? I would think my friend nijuu would have been more eager to lynch someone with two posts than someone who was just being goofy.
2. Says sig looks like part of an inactive mafia team, which concedes the point that one of the mafia teams is inactive...yet she still votes for zebra, who was at least present.
3. Raises the banner of lynching inactives...
4. Votes zebra, who was zany, not inactive. And zebra had more on-topic things to say than Black Rock.

:ponder:
1) "Casts a wide net." Yep, that's Day 1. Nothing unusual.
2) I did not think MP was bad. I said he could be either way, and I didn't vote him because I appreciated his activity more than a half-assed, half-suspicion. Don't twist my words.
3) "How am I supposed to answer that?" (regarding my question about Black Rock) Yes, exactly like you just did. That is actually what I wanted. All you did was vote her and say you would. I wanted to see if there actually was anything else going on in your head.
4) Yep, not revealing rainbow list secrets. Or talking about damned rainbows.
5) Zebra was inactive Day 1 except for smileys. Day 2, it was smileys and meaningless banter, and not much of it, which is inactivity (though not on the level of Black Rock and others). Zebra is suddenly active as fuck, and guess what? The other team kills.

Just so we don't get in a semantics argument about "inactive" (unless, of course, you'd like to, and I'm happy to oblige  ), you're right - I did go on and on about inactives and voted someone not in the straight-up inactive category (as in, zero posts or very few posts with literally no relevant content). I'd say my definition is different, but that doesn't make any sense as I try to type an explanation. I straight up used a word to lump together inactives and people making few unhelpful and/or irrelevant posts, which is almost as bad as being inactive. You caught my semantic error.

However, I'm not a pirate, and I knew this suspicion might happen if I didn't shoot in the dark with you for BR. I'll say it again - I don't miss PMs. I am not an inactive player. I am a quiet player. Even when I'm stupid, stupid busy, I don't miss them. I send them from the bathroom at work or stop at a damned rest stop if I have to, and I set alarms for them just in case I know I'll be busy.

Anyway, shit, my friend showed up 20 minutes earlier than we planned :suspish: so I must be off. Creepy tentacles make for easy votes. I'm going to vote zebra again. I don't understand why, when she's suddenly active, that she's off people's radars - zany behavior does not mean civ behavior, and the timing (posting in unhelpful smileys and even more unhelpful banter Day 2, coinciding with missing a kill Night 1 and getting it Day 2) still makes her look bad.

Jesus, I suck at spoiler tags. Whatever. Don't have time to fix it.

Re: Monkey Island [DAY 4]

Whew, busy, busy weekend! Yay for drinks, food, and seeing lots of RL people. Time to crawl back into the hole of interacting with Internets people  Apologies for the lack of posts and whatnot. I have kept up on my phone when I can, and have now caught up with reading fully.

Mmmm, cheesecake. But I decline the lynch.
a2thezebra wrote:Seriously though, is everyone going to ignore how fake Snow Dog's read development of me has been this game? First I was bad because I wasn't posting even though I was, then it was because I was posting but my posts were garbage, then I was good because I was posting but my posts were garbage, now it's baffling that my posts continue to be garbage. Also because I made an assumption.

inb4 town ignores this post and lets Snow Dog coast along to endgame
Except...I've had a similar read of you throughout the game, except my mind hasn't changed. As he restated, you posted only in emojis, which is about as good as not posting, then the posts were nonsense ("garbage" is strong for me, and I don't want to be antagonistic), and now you vote for him for a nonsense reason (for saying "quiet day"). What good does that do? How is this civ behavior? It's one thing to post to look civ, but another to do blatantly un-civ behavior. My other conviction is that you're hella suspicious for the time you decided to start playing and posting stuff in the thread, as I stated in my last reasoning to vote you. You have done this before - people want to write off your manic behavior (which is perhaps why Snow Dog gave you the BOTD when you did start posting relevantly), saying you can't possibly be bad with this craziness, and then you WIFOM the shit outta them and flip bad. Nah. I am unconvinced that you are civ or helping civs.
sig wrote:Yeah zebra I can agree with the scotty ping for that.

What does everyone think of nacho and sonjie? Both are relatively new to TS where killing off high posters is more common. Also nacho going awall and not posting as much after day 1 is odd so thoughts on nacho
I do wonder (and did wonder the other day, as Epi pointed out) about Nacho's participation, but I'm one to friggin' talk. From the look of his later posts, it looks like an issue of time crunch. I lean civ on him, mostly from a vibe standpoint, but would like to see more (once again, I'm one to talk). As for Soneji, from what I remember in reads, I rather like what he's had to say, and have agreed a few times in my other posts (or at least once that I can recall).

I need to get to the store and get bags from my car (because I totally forgot I left all of my luggage in there from this afternoon, because I am a lazy piece of shit today), so I shall leave for now. Voting zebra.

Linki - LOL wow, much suspicion of two people I just said looked good to me? Apparently I need a closer read?

You judge harshly. I twiddle my thumbs in Monday-after-Thanksgiving deadness. Shall I scream in pain and agony instead for your amusement?

:faint: :overreact:

I have four votes for no good reason that I saw. I said my defense. It did nothing. I'm rather annoyed that it happened this way, actually. However, I see no reason to react ridiculously, as it changes nothing.
