Voting for Rico is a weak cop-out if I ever saw one. Every time he's done a stubborn posting schtick he has been a civ. His "wolf" thing is little more than a joke (though I imagine he'll try to stay consistent in going after the people he's named, but I'm guessing he chose them somewhat randomly at the beginning). Anyway, for anyone who has played with Rico recently, there is no good reason to vote for him. On the other hand, I do understand why you guys are rather flippant about the day 1 vote as long as it's not someone on your team, given the unorthodox structure of this game, so I can't particularly argue against anyone's personal choice to vote Rico other than that I think it's a weak reason. And it's not like I have any particular ideas as to who constitutes a threat at this point either.

It feels weak because of the way the idea of voting for him came up in the thread yesterday and the way a few people have so easily latched onto it. Idk, to me it just feels like one of those cases of D1-thoughtless-bandwagoning syndrome. Speedchuck voted for Rico because he hates the gimmick, and then Sloonei just jumped on with that because he didn't have any other ideas. Soon everyone will just be lazily wandering into the thread and going "oh, looks like people are voting rico, cool, I'll do that too, whatever" and boom that's how most lame-ass day 1 lynches that go nowhere get started.

Aside from what other people have said, I'm curious as to what your voting criteria is. Rico is not on my team, and his posting contributions are not as interesting, fun to read, or engage-able as everyone elses. I'm playing this particular game to have fun, and so I'm voting for the person with the least fun in their posts.

I don't need to cop out, though. There won't be any voter analysis in this game. There is no scum.

Fair enough.

My only counterpoint is that there is always a possibility that lynching a particular role poses some threat. Just a quick skim of some of the roles shows that much. But I suppose if you have no particular reason to fear such an effect from Rico over anyone else (and you most likely wouldn't at this stage) your reasoning is fine.

Were this an actual Mafia game, I might concur, but it isn't. As far as I'm concerned, Rico could get lynched every Day from here on out and I wouldn't care.

I bet you'd care if you happened to suffer some kind of adverse effect from his role getting lynched.

I also got the singing thingy and will almost certainly not be doing it. Not easy for me to fit in today and I'm not keen on doing that sort of thing in general. I think having to get punished for not doing it is stupid and unfair. Screw you, THE GAME.

@Dom: I'm actually not sure whether Rico is on my team. I thought he was at first but I now think I'm wrong.

The "me getting the only role like this" part is what irks me the most. If there were like ten "whammy" roles, that'd be one thing, but one in a hundred just feels like G-Man's RNG urinating on my head.

But you were wrong about being the only role with a passive limitation. Still, yours is strictly worse because 72's limitation is very similar but at least gets to be on three teams.

LC's and DDL's roles both suck so I'm happy to eliminate either of them. I'm going with DDL's as the higher priority because I would not want to suffer Rico's fate (and I wouldn't want the other curse either).

After his death, the next last poster became you. And you failed to produce a post within the hour to save yourself.

Let's not confuse legit deaths with those impacted by exemptions offered to some like free candy.

Nope, I refuse to accept it. A player's posts from when they were alive don't suddenly disappear when they die.

I apologize for overreacting to this situation, G-Man. In retrospect I don't believe that I truly suspected you of "retconning" or cheating at your mechanics; I was just frustrated with the structure of the mechanic and how we had no basis or expectation of the retroactive aspect of it. I felt that it was unjust that I had been killed off due to a circumstance that I had every reason to believe I was safe from. But that's the nature of THE GAME, brutal as it may be, and your hosting style is way too cool and novel for me to stay angry about it.

I think I understand the reboot solution; presumably since we're starting after the night there's no concern that anyone has access to info that they shouldn't or know about a role that they shouldn't?

I don't understand the method behind Sloonei's calculations -- did I miss something that led us to believe the insanifier (also, surely there's more than one as we have seen several different types of insanity concurrently) is one of the people who exploded? Anyway, all I know is it's not me. Does it make sense for INH to have insanified himself (WIFOM/throwing off the trail I guess)? Perhaps it is really Sloonei himself.

Besides, I don't know that I prioritize getting rid of the insanifier(s). Sure it makes thread communication more difficult, but we can often get the gist of what someone means and I think there are bigger concerns in this game.

Well I guess it serves me right after complaining about dying that I should die anyway. Guess I'm not that attached to my original role/team. Really wasn't particularly active as a team anyway.

Well I'm glad we got that taken care of. The thread had really devolved beyond comprehension -- I take back what I said about the insanifier not being a big priority, lol (I guess I thought there were more than one but now that INH's previously secret role has been revealed I'm sure glad we stopped it).

I'm truly indebted to this game for opening my eyes to some really strange ways of classifying numbers. I thought the [vowel]-ban thing was weird but "pancake numbers"?? is apparently a real concept in combinatorics?? Mathematicians are weird af (and I live with two of them

Why isn't anyone deciding based on their roles? Sloonei's role is boring/sucky, but Daisy's is rather dangerous. In fact she's the one who kidnapped Jack and she didn't even mean to -- since the team wasn't fully open at the very beginning of the game and my role was secret, she didn't even know that it was me or what it would do and was just targeting blindly.
