Re: [DAY 1] Seinfeld Mafia

Poison, huh? That's a bad way to go, poison. I thought I was poisoned once. Turned out just to be a bad chimichanga. They told me not to overdo it with the cheese, but Big Stein needs his cheese, folks! I tell you, I was down for the count. Spent the night in a hospital bed, I thought I saw the light! Now, no more chimichangas for me. It's calzones or it's nothing. Gotta have them just right. Hot, not too hot. Those Italians know how to cook. You think the calzone place is a front for the mafia? Big Stein doesn't need that, but he needs his calzone! Where's Costanza?

I find your assertion egregious, unscrupulous, and atrocious! A clear case of prejudicial name-alignment-assignment.
I'm a fair man. I just call 'em like I see them. This Uncle Leo hasn't shown his face. What do we know about him? His name! I can't do much with that. You said yourself, we can't have a game if we don't have talking. Big Stein's talking about Uncle Leo, but Uncle Leo's not talking. What do you think he has to hide? Narcotics? Or is he a mob hitman? I try to keep my nose out of that business. I'm a Yankee through and through. But they're telling me I have to catch them here. Big Stein's pretty little nose is in it now! So I'm gonna put up a fight, let me tell you, Mr. Chiles! If Big Stein's going down he's going down swinging!

This Benes woman is giving me fits, and not just because she's a Baltimore fan! Seems like she's picking a fight with Seinfeld just to pick a fight. Her argument has my head spinning. Big Stein's getting dizzy. Like riding on one of those carousels, trying to keep up. I never cared for those rides. Rollercoasters, those are okay. Very exhilarating. But a carousel just goes in circles, over and over and over. You never know when they're going to end. I can't figure out where the end of this argument is or where it's beginning either. She says Seinfeld is suspicious for appreciating input from his uncle, then she says he's bad because he voted for Newman. It's not making sense to me, I don't buy her conviction. This one makes gut checks in the moment and changes his mind on a dime. It's a strength. I could be wrong obviously, but my initial take is not. There's no good reason for a mafia Elaine to fake claim that in that moment. It would be a very stupid move.
Elaborate.
The role claim is true if we assume the following:

1) Mafia Elaine would not arbitrarily guess at a power role to fake claim when the role may not even exist. Any true power roles can look at the 14 player table to discern whether a 1-shot vigilante fits with their role.

2) Mafia Elaine would not fake that claim even when having insight about which setup we're in (by virtue of the roles of her team), because that'd imply a real 1-shot vigilante may well exist. The real one immediately knows the claim is a lie.

3) Mafia Elaine would not decide it was necessary to claim a role at all at that moment. The only vocal pressure she was under was coming from me, and she was in no danger of being lynched -- it was still the night phase. She has this entire 48 hour phase to shake suspicion without having to resort to a fake role claim.

There is at least one universe where she could be lying. It's possible and I'm aware of it. I think it's much less likely though than the alternative -- that she wanted to shut my wrong ass up and threatened to shoot me with her real vigilante shot.
I don't dismiss the possibility that her claim is completely bogus. A mobster could guess that the majority of her opponents don't know what roles they're dealing with. Pretending to wave around a gun is a surefire way to get somebody to back off.

It could be bogus. I don't care about "could" though. We can sit here all day and talk about what's possible. A lot of things are possible. It's meaningless. The scene you construct here is possible, but I don't think it's probable. Would you do that during a night phase when you can't be lynched and only one person is barking at you when your claim can easily be invalidated by any present power roles? I sure as hell wouldn't. I care about what's probable. Given present information there is no way I support a lynch of Elaine.
Big Stein just might do that if he felt it could shake the pressure off of him. But I thought we weren't talking about what's possible. If Elaine is the vigilante, she's hung herself out to dry. She's either our only power role, or one of only two, with the other being a tracker. There's no one to save her tonight, so she has to shoot. Who should she shoot?

I have to say that I find Mr Seinfeld's points about Ms Benes to far more convincing than this attack. This kind of latching-on to minutiae, accusation, and then hands-in-the-air confusion is the kind of base fearmongering that I expect to see from the Mafia. 5 out of 5 for roleplay though!

My top picks for lynch today: Steinbrenner, Frank Costanza, and... let's go with George as a distant third, because I haven't had a good feeling about that guy yet.

You've been suspecting everyone except for two people. You have no real suspects, you're just throwing dart from your coco bollo desk, trying to act managerial.
Cast a wide net, that's what I always say. Once my people have more information I'll start to see things more clearly but right now you never can be too careful. Every one of you has the potential to be lying to me.

Even my three year nephew, Khaled, could have prepared such a defense. And I already have him in the back, scrubbing the floor.
Absolute garbage, your worst post of the game, Soup Nazi. Instead of paying any mind to the possibility that a guy who has attracted 5 vaguely-explained votes late in a phase might actually be an easy target, you've pretended his defense was ever going to be "better" than it was. What would you expect Joe Civilian to say in this situation?
I would expect Joe Civilian to march his butt in here and talk. He could start by answering my calls, but he's too busy "answering the Lord's call." I bet that one shows up as "out of area."
Since when has Joe Civilian ever done that?
David Puddy wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2017 7:27 pm **grunts**
Since when does Joe Mafia become a mutt when he's asked to weigh in on the people voting for him? Always when, that's when.
My people tell me this isn't true. They say a cornered mobster is prone to fight. They at least want to go down swinging. That's not to say they can't take one for the team and be silent, but this mindset is a slippery slope.

My read on Yankeeman is very similar to my read on Soup Nazi -- someone who's easy to suspect for crappy reasons.
Bullshitteroni. Nobody suspects him. Nobody sees the truth. Fake news.
I've heard my fair share of heckles in this game! They say I'm erratic, all over the place! I say someone needs to stir the pot around here. That's something you should know about, isn't it? You make your soup in one of those big pots? Tell me, how long does it take to make the soup? Do you do it all at once or in individual batches? I have great respect for the restaurant industry. I thought of getting into it myself. I could make a mean lasagna back in my day, Soup Nazi. The secret is in the cheese. You need to add just the right amount to each layer. Not too much, not too little...

I like this Steinbrenner fellow. Not afraid to say what he thinks, not afraid to let it all hang out, like a kerchief in a fine suit. As for Elaine, she's a tough one, and she's worked for me for years. On the one hand, she's after Jerry pretty consistently, and that's a job...done. On the other hand, she's gone after Puddy, which I didn't expect after those attacks on Jerry. And a claimed vigilante? Such bold words, Elaine! But I wouldn't put it past a woman who doesn't like The English Patient. It's all almost worth firing her over. Almost.

But not today, because I'm not liking the looks of this Puddy fellow, either. I've said my piece on him, however short, for I am a man of few words. Puddy, you're out.
My people just brought this one to my attention too. How many positions can this man take in one answer without actually answering? I tell you, I thought Ms. Benes made my head spin, but this Peterman is in a league of his own. Big Stein's getting dizzy!

Re: [NIGHT 2] Seinfeld Mafia

What bothers me most about Elaine is that she roleclaimed in self-defense. Not strategically, not to protect another player, but to save her own skin. Her second claim tells me that the first was bogus! A civilian has plenty of cause to lie about their role in this game, that's for sure. But that first claim of hers does not sit well with Big Stein!

Jerry Seinfeld wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2017 2:25 pm I'll leave Elaine to answer to that. Come on folks, let's keep talking. I think we're in an okay place given the reduction of suspects, but we've still started with two civilian lynches. Let's turn it around.

I need this one. Do it for me. Today was my third time out with Gail and she still won't even shake my hand.
I'm not sure what else there is to say at the moment. Big Stein's not about flapping his gums! I choose my words very carefully, young man. When the sun comes up I want to make some folks squirm. Peterman and Old Man Costanza first of all, but they're not the only ones who should be on the hot seat, you hear me!? I suppose I can ask you what's the deal with this Jackie Chiles fella. He seems like he's working hard, but I haven't seen him do too much outside the mainstream. Afraid to rock the boat? I like his style, but he's not above speculation. He was on Puddy like Big Stein on Billy Martin! Makes me nervous. Not that I'm innocent in that department either, but I say it's worth looking into! We've got to shake things up if we want to climb out of the basement!

What if the second claim was bogus? I Bear Lee recall you saying anything about the first claim at the time.

HA HA HA HA HA HA
I had my qualms with it, young lady! It was an act of defense! I saw no strategic value in it whatsoever and that does not sit well with Big Stein. Why did the mafia not kill the exposed vigilante last night, Benes?

No! It can't be! My wife is dead because of you animals! She would drive me up a wall, but she was being quiet around you people, and now someone thought it was worth shutting her up even more.

Only people she mentioned before she passed that might get up to such a thing were Jerry, David Puddy (who I agreed with), the lawyer, and George. She even put in a good word for the Soup Man! The Soup Nazi, who people think is as bad as the actual Nazis!

SERENITY NOW!

I gotta take a breather. Right now, my gut says there's something in looking at those mentions, but I don't know what yet.
The Soup Nazi? Who thinks the Soup Nazi's bad. I don't see anyone gathering up their pitchforks to go after that man, Frank. I welcome your investigations though. It can't be easy to lose such a fine woman, that Estelle. Look into your suspects and tell Big Stein what you think.

You're a funny man, Seinfeld. Big Stein appreciates humor in dark times. But I will not stand for this kind of funny business, you hear me! Is this some sort of test? Trying to make Big Stein sweat, are we? You're gonna have to do better than that! I'll let it stand for now though. But come this time tomorrow I expect to see results on the table! Oh, I've got his number. Inside information? Oh yes. See, I swapped out his bran muffin for...wait for it...a poppy seed muffin. I can't wait until he eats it and then BOOM! his career is over.

Oh, you meant information information on Mr. Peterman. Like, did he kill anybody. Do I have that kind of information?

Survey says? No, I don't.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HA

Get it?

HA............HA HA HA...HA
Survey says? That's clever, I like it. I love that Family Feud. Can never get enough of it. That Steve Harvey fella they have hosting it nowadays is a riot. I've always wondered how the Steinbrenner clan would do under the spotlight. I would love to press that buzzer, I can tell you that much. Looks like a blast. Tell you what, let's play a little Family Feud right here. We surveyed 100 people and asked them who the mafia is. Top five answers are on the board, Elaine! Show me what you got.
