In this case, I think so. Nutella agrees with the sentiments that have been shared by myself, Long Con, and possibly you (we still don't know your actual reasons for voting Epi). I was only asking about the extent to which she agrees.
My reasons are the same as LC. I thought he was buddying.

"Buddying" two civilians on Day 1 is not going to stop my lynch if that is what the majority wishes (not that I agree I have "buddied" anybody).

Sloonei is not going to be intimidated by me to the extent that he won't vote for me if he feels he should (not that I agree I have intimidated Sloonei).

You are, as usual, starting with the conclusion that Epignosis is bad and making everything I do fit that conclusion. Of course, you have no response to this:
Epignosis wrote: Mon Nov 20, 2017 10:53 am You are implying that "setting up a long game" is something I, as mafia, would do on Day 1. That is mistaken. The fact is I don't bother with long term planning Day 1 when I am bad. It's antithetical to success in most cases, because to be good at being bad, one must be flexible and able to dance. And I am a fine dancer.
Can anyone who has ever been bad with me point to a time when I set up a long term plan Day 1?

If not, why would I start now?
Can't recall. You were more spontaneous in such games. You don't strike me as the type.

Still, buddying isn't going to stop your lynch on Day 1, but said lynch hadn't started at the time, no?

Re: Mountain Mafia [DAY 1]

On Kyle - Obvious difference in the amount of posts between pirate Mafia and this one, even considering shorter phase lengths and the whole debacle at EoD1. Looks bad at face value, like a baddie who can't insert himself properly but I won't condemn him on that alone. We (or I) don't know where to set the baseline for his civilian game.

His content here isn't really fluff, but his thoughts haven't come together in the thread the way I'd like given the 24 hour day phases. They're not particularly useful to me as they are. I'd like some more elaborated stuff from him soon if he's up to it.

Re: Mountain Mafia [DAY 1]

Long Con wrote: Mon Nov 20, 2017 4:34 pm As for the cbob and mesk no-vote posts... they're empty filler. Neither of them are in any way real or substantial gameplay. There was nothing about mesk's "dirt" comment that should lead to any alignment decisions. IF you really feel the need to read into it, it indicates a general ignorance or the game structure, which doesn't show as good or bad. And I don't feel like it was even that. Does anyone disagree with this?

And the Rocket Man lyrics response is equally devoid of value. So Epi would have spared his vote for any player who acknowledged his Elton John joke. Why? It doesn't even plant a seed that could grow into a suspicion, it doesn't put anyone on the spot, the only effect is to make cbob slightly more comfortable.
It wouldn't be the first time I've seen people earn a free pass for nothing. Disagree with that?

This again, about what a "civilian Epignosis" cares to do. You really should write a book about me, since you're such an expert.

Saying I won't vote someone Day 1 for catching my Elton John reference is not "setting up a long game."

Finding a reason to believe Mesk is civilian and in the next hour reevaluating that reason is, again, not "setting up a long game."

Intimidating Sloonei (if that's what you want to call it, since I don't believe Sloonei can be intimidated in Mafia, and even if he could, what would I have to gain by intimidating him if I could just kill him Night 1?) is not "setting up a long game."

You are implying that "setting up a long game" is something I, as mafia, would do on Day 1. That is mistaken. The fact is I don't bother with long term planning Day 1 when I am bad. In other words, if I know what I'm doing (i.e., being deliberate in "setting up a long game"), and Long Con is calling me out on that, then he should be able to explain how my actions in the thread so far will benefit my team and me down the road. What is the long game and how am I expecting it to play out?
Uh, you pick two Civs and buddy them so they trust you and don't lynch you. Long game benefit: survival, and more likely to lynch Civs along the way. You intimidate Sloonei out of coming after you. Benefit: One less Civ coming after you; survival; more likely to lynch a Civ along the way.
If he can't answer that, then his suspicion isn't genuine, and he's trying to get a quick and easy Day 1 lynch out of the way.
Let's get this quick and easy Day 1 lynch out of the way, folks!
Point LC.

Epi is perhaps the best dancer on the site. There is nothing "quick and easy" about trying to mislynch him on Day 1. This feels like trying to scare away votes, not a legit attempt to scumhunt, which is exactly what Epi is already accused of doing with Sloonei.

Combined with suspicious nonlynchcandidate declarations, I think this is worthy of a vote.

PS: What is my tell?

How many times have you seen me cast a single vote on Day 1 and leave it there?
Was I supposed to be paying attention to you all this time? I'm sorry.
I'm saying I throw my votes around willynilly on every Day 1 that I ever play in. You're usually pretty on the ball about what goes on in game threads, but you've seldom been skeptical of me for doing this in the past.
This is fair. Even if you don't pay that much attention you can get a general idea of what a person likes if you play with them enough. For example, I know that around Day 3 Jack and I are going to tear each others throats out.

Which part of that is a scum tell for Jack?
Good question; Jack, in answering my question, be a dear and answer Sloonei's as well please.
Idk. The only scumtell I'm aware of is that I get overly excited when I think I'm about to win as a baddie.
This could be compensation for lack of a proper response. I'm not leaning either way on it.
That could be. The real response was "I don't know"... and actually, now that I typed it out, the response does ping me slightly. A Civ's response to "Is that a scumtell for you/what part is a scumtell?" should be "It's not a scumtell, it can't be because I'm not scum"... but Jack just doesn't know why or which part was a scumtell. :eye:

Is this an acceptable response from a townie? Is Sloonei's response unacceptable from a townie?

I don't think Sloonei is fence sitting. Or rather, if what he's doing is fence sitting, that's what he always does.

What do you think of Epi's vote for LC?
I'm not loving this version of Epignosis. He seems to be working harder at discrediting the accusations against him than actually figuring out the players making the accusations. This doesn't look like the crafty town Epignosis who will get under people's skin for the sake of reading them without any fear or regard for his own appearance. Instead he looks like he's trying to fight his way out of a corner.
I don't disagree with this. Epi's playstyle is argumentative, but in my experience he favours offense over defence.

I'm just filling the silence. I don't have a strong opinion on Kyle. Like I half think you're distracting from Epi but I don't wanna get tunnel visioned. You do whatever.
I'm definitely trying to get us to talk about more than just Epi. I don't want to not talk about him, but I don't want him to be the only topic either.
Sloonei knows just how to get me on his good side.

Missed that in the cavalcade.

The main reason Epi survives as scum might be that people believe his town game is seen as crafty, so people will let certain things slide that they might have otherwise found suspicious.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how vehemently do you reject my initial impression that you were suggesting lynching Epignosis before he could cement himself in the game?
