Are you more inclined toward my hesitance or LC's confidence?
The former, I guess. Mostly I agree with the sentiments you've expressed about why Quin's reasoning is fine for day 1, and probably enough to join Quin and LC in an epi vote if I don't get anything better for a day 1 reason

lol jack if you think me being lazy is a scumtell you haven't played with me enough. you were spoiled in phenon, that was one of my best civ performances. I am normally lazy af and flipflopping all over the place, anyone can tell you that. When I asked him how his post was a scum tell, he said "I don't know" instead of "It's not a scumtell, and cannot be because I'm a Civ."
ah see I didn't entirely follow that thread since y'all kept screwing up the quotes. but I agree with your initial assessment of his sprityo prodding-- that was part of what made me decide he's bad.

ok, for one thing, I did feel at the time that the epi/LC thing was not getting us anywhere because we have no real basis for suspecting the alignment of either one of them; I suppose it did at least contribute to generating day 1 discussion but I am personally sick of their ongoing feud because it always feels the same and drags on forever.

I suspect Jack for mainly gut reasons, but I can point to his weird prod of sprityo/asking for impressions on his alignment at the very beginning of the game, as well as his confident yet misguided interpretation of my meta, plus his back-and-forth with LC that LC called out as a soft slip, plus his odd assessment of Epi and the post where he analyzes nonexistent connections between me and Epi (and makes another softslip in "a few good townies voting for epi"

If I have a hard and fast accusation to make, I will make it and you will know it.
I'm quite enjoying this version of daisy. :workit:

I can also tell I'm going to like Mesk. Fun posts to read, those were.

Now that I'm not dead (for now at least...) I'll see what I can do to sort out those reads I hastily mentioned. I've given a handful of reasons for my Jack suspicion, but depending on how the discussion goes I might back off of that a little and keep an open mind about him. Still probably my most likely vote candidate as of right now. As for Quin and Kyle, those were just a couple names that I decided to throw out there based on very minor gut feelings and the sense that I needed to suspect some of the more active/civ-passing players so as not to let them slip by with unfounded civ cred in case they are bad. Like I got the sense that Quin was making himself look very active while not actually saying much in the way of substantial/original ideas. Idk, I have some ISOs to look at.

A valid question.
Alright I'm gonna go all Epi-style on this one. "Valid" is currently perhaps one of the most overused words in the English language. This post is devoid of meaning. All it really accomplishes is to express a "+1" sentiment toward Epi's question/"catch" of LC's so-called "slip", and a bit of a turnaround since Quin had been originally going hard against Epi.

I also like this response. Quickly ending a conversation which seems of non-import to me. Unless LC wanted to glean something from it, in which case, read quote one.
Small thing I found amusing here. Quin expresses that he felt a conversation was pointless. Same thing he accused me of with regards to Epi vs. LC -- wanting to stifle discussion even if it might generate D1 content.

I'm saying I throw my votes around willynilly on every Day 1 that I ever play in. You're usually pretty on the ball about what goes on in game threads, but you've seldom been skeptical of me for doing this in the past.
This is fair. Even if you don't pay that much attention you can get a general idea of what a person likes if you play with them enough. For example, I know that around Day 3 Jack and I are going to tear each others throats out.
I'm looking forward to that, if both of you make it that long.

Nutella being lazy is a scumtell. I don't think she thinks I'm bad nor thinks I'll get lynched but I'd rather....you know what? I'm not sure what Nutella is doing. We were teamed together and it was said that I focus too much on myself when I'm bad, as I focused too much on myself and tap danced to victory. So that's like...an unfriendly poke? But there's no weight behind it. It's not hunting. Feels like a distraction but it would only distract me onto her so...what is that for?

I don't want to switch to Nutella. I think she's more likely bad if Epi is bad and Epi is more likely to be bad if just one of them is. I dislike lynching people I suspect of being buddies with someone I suspect more. Like if we lynch Epi and he's town, I can revevaluate Nutella. If I lynch Nutella and she's town, I don't move on Epi. So why lynch Nutella first.

Anyhow, I think LC, Quin, Kyle, Sloonei are town in that order. Probably Bob too (don't listen to my Bob reads). Everyone else statistically probably town but not giving me reasons to think so.
I didn't just ISO like six people for second place. Re-evaluate your town reads, you jerk.
More of this openly tryhard-y crap.

And one other thing, he expresses a townread of Sloonei for a while, then turns on him with an accusation toward EOD. Just taking note of that development.

So that's all I've got for Quin. Could go either way on him, but there are definitely a few tidbits here that stick out as odd.

All Epi did was throw out a couple of names that pleased him, in one form or another, and said he wasn't going to vote them D1.

Burden of proof on you guys. Give me a valid reason that this is scummy behavior. It doesn't make sense as a long game. Calling what Epi did "buddying" is like calling a D1 vote "hate mongering".

It's hard to argue against something that doesn't make sense, as Epi found out, but if you can explain the case in a way that doesn't sound insane, I'll give you some nebulous speedchuck points and rescind my opinion.
I just figured it wasn't typical Epi behavior. Quin said the "ok I'm voting for Epi, do you guys know why" thing and I instantly understood that he was reacting to Epi naming townreads (or at least people he wouldn't vote for, whatever) since he posted it right after the post in question, and I took Quin's post to imply that he found that to be specifically unusual for Epi to do. I have nothing against naming townreads as a D1 behavior in general, but specifically Epi doing so felt out of character.

Now I seem to recall a fairly recent strategy discussion, though I don't remember which game, about naming townreads on D1. It was between MP and maybe JJJ and maybe someone else, when MP was under scrutiny for naming townreads but no scumreads and was suspected of buddying/being able to confidently name townreads because if he was bad he'd know who was town. Maybe JJJ has input on this? Might not be relevant to this game at all but now I wish I remembered which game it was because it was an interesting discussion.

Without having done the deep digging yet that I'd like to do, I can spare some gut takes:

sig as a civilian pirate was more engaged and effortful in the high-octane Day 1 aboard the pirate ship than he was in this high-octane Day 1. Bad vibes.

Sloonei's thing about the eyeroll emoji amused me, and I don't know that I'd expect that flippant response to an accusation from Darth Sloonei. Good vibes.

Spacedaisy appears at a glance to be Doing Work. She has engaged numerous dialogues with an assertive tone, and is bringing the Big Posts. We don't always see this level of motivation from Annie. Good vibes.

speedchuck was willing to engage suspects pointedly, and he cut down his suspect pool with transparent civilian reads (or at least pledges not to lynch). I also like the tone he exhibited in his handling of the Epi/LC feud. Good vibes.

sprityo's posts don't offer much in the way of original contribution. Reads exist here but I don't follow their origins, and there's some piggy-backing happening. That's not ideal. Bad vibes.

Re: Mountain Mafia [DAY 2]

DDL's recent slew of posts have flipped him over to a town read. I'm back to being more likely to vote for Jack, but am open to other options.

I'm not interested in lynching Dom because I think he has most likely forgotten about the game and that is more likely to happen if he is civ than if he is bad, yeah?

I find it unlikely that all if the scum can be found among the talkative folks.
I'm not advocating a lynch of a low poster without exhausting all our other options first.
I'll never understand this mentality. Worst thing about it is that it always seems to be the case.
Thah'ts why I compared low posters to zero posters.

There is that guy who makes 3-4 posts a day and contributes nothing. Sprityo, Sig and Wilgy could count on that category (personally I think Sprityo looks bad and I have no read on the other 2).

There is that guy who makes 1 post every 2 days saying hi and is a prime candidate for a replacement. I. e. Dom.

I think the former type can be a worthy lynch (though I'd like to ISO any of them before deciding). The later is not.
Agreed. I would be happy to lynch any of Wilgy, Sig, or Sprityo. I think Dom is unlikely to be bad for the reason I stated (though Quin provided a counterexample)

Any reads that he shares will be ideas that he conceived of prior to entering the game, so they will not be indicative of his alignment upon entry. They just show what he was thinking as a neutral observer.

He prodded me about my past activity as scum, which at least showed an active interest in doing further work, but that's all I've got on him so far.
Yeah. He hasn't convinced me yet that he's the usual supatown Jay we all know.

Wilgy is a tough nut to crack. He's one of those people who gets mislynched on day 1 a lot, because he's sort of an enigma and as far as I can tell his style is usually pretty consistent regardless of his alignment. Except here. He's usually more active than this. I guess I can understand if he's not caught up, but I would have expected more than nothing from him by now.

Re: Mountain Mafia [DAY 2]

Sloonei wrote: Wed Nov 22, 2017 5:05 pm I recall Epi once making the argument that Eloh is more invested in games when she has someone to talk to behind the scenes. In this game she's made multiple comments about the amount of effort she's been putting into getting caught up. Her tone in these posts has not been one of frustration or dejection, but instead she's seemed kind of gleeful about it, playing around and joking about her involvement. I like this attitude and approve of it in every way, which is why I feel dirty for turning it into a case against Eloh. If she is involved in BTSC, and has been since Day 1, then she's scum. And if this is the case and Epi's old argument is true, then her carefree attitude toward the avalanche of posts in this thread might be explained by her involvement with teammates behind the scenes. Or she's just having a jolly old time.
yeah I can see this. I feel like Eloh often gets mislynched for low activity, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is baddie eloh

I have a problem with this. You and I were talking about the usefulness of using close lynches as a valid scum hunting tactic in appropriate contexts.

I asked you why the discussion was so important to you that you felt the need to respond so passionately about it and you never responded. The moment I invited you to discuss the options for the current lynch you decided you were done for the night and left.
Didn't I? And hadn't I already stated in extreme detail my feelings on LC, Epi and Nutella?

ISO me.
I literally just did. My point still stands.

"I've already said my opinions once so I refuse to think about them more or talk about them again when someone asks" is not a pro town attitude

especially when the person making the request is one of your town reads

Placing a vote on Jack. I'm really not sure how I feel about Eloh. I will say that regardless of alignment I disapprove of her approach. If you're not going to read everything, don't act surprised when you don't understand what someone is referring to.

Jack, Quin, and Kyle are my scum reads. And all pretty good scrabble words. Most likely not all three of them are bad, and one or two of the inactives are, but those are where I'd start.
You ISO'd Quin and talked more about Jack but I'd like to hear more from you re: Kyle.
I'm feeling more neutral/leaning civ on him. I looked at his ISO yesterday since I had thrown out his name and nothing particularly stood out. When I named him along with Quin when there was a possibility I'd die, I think I was getting a similar feel from him as from Quin and I thought he might be a possible baddie hiding behind what looks like heavy participation, but when I looked again I got more of a town read. Still neutral yellow on my rainbow though.

When don't I?

Y'all need to realize your mafia try to do their best to look good so y'all don't say this shit about them in the early game.

Sloonei fits this. He looks like he's trying to be a civilian leader, but I don't find his effort honest.
I'm listening.
