Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 0]
Kyle is town because "let's go" is the thing he said when his confidence surged post-mafioso lynch as a civilian.
Sloonei is town because he's already trying to facilitate true to form.
Quin is mafia because he called Kyle's question "good" without clarifying why he cared about the question or why it moved him.

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 0]
Theory: each "realm" is associated with some subset of the characters. This is evident at least in "Outworld" being the name of the mafia team. I suspect Epignosis may have drawn from his own hosting history (Transistor) wherein the "winner" of the poll results in some kind of information being revealed among the pile of ???s in their roles. If true, it'd be swell to reveal something about the bad guys.
It's an educated guess, so if y'all have other theories then by all means stick 'em in here. I definitely don't think the poll is inconsequential.

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 0]
Extension of the theory:
In Transistor, the night polls were used to "research" unique game roles called "Process elements". The Process was an independent and anti-civilian role, and it was occupied by... nijuukyugou (our present co-host).
Now, it's possible this game was entirely designed before Transistor was ever played. I dunno.

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 0]
In this case the poll is worded for travel; we're literally visitng a realm. In that regard the flavor might be awkward alongside my theory. That these visitations occur in a specific order though suggests to me that we'll find our way to each of them eventually. In the event that this somehow provides a benefit to the Outworld, it may be better still to ensure that is covered earlier than later.

I hesitate. One of his earliest Vocaroo 2 moves was to voice suspicion of me, an early vocal presence. One of his earliest Mortal Kombat moves has now been to voice suspicion of you, an early vocal presence (if I am correctly interpreting a pinkish red color to be a negative thing, or an "independent" read to indicate that you don't look like a civilian to him).

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 0]
I'll put my continued concerns about Quin into words:
He has made a lot of posts in quick succession. Typically this is something I would like. It's great to facilitate content and to generate a real life bonafide Mafia game thread. However, in Quin's posts I see a lot of reads thrown into a heap with few or no legible origins -- they seem to merely exist for the sake of existence. This contrasts the facilitation provided by other early contributors (Sloonei, speedchuck, and MacDougall to name a few) which features reads drawn from visible thread content. Their reads might not be well-informed, understandably on Day 0, but I still know where they came from. Quin's reads? I generally don't know. I'm not sure he does either.
"Gut."
I question the sincerity of this facilitation effort and wonder if it's meant for appearances.

Green: You might as well tell me that you don't understand why I would read one guy as a civilian and another guy as mafia in general. The sincerity of content put in the thread and judgments thereof makes up a very large portion of the civilian side of this game we call Mafia and some call Werewolf.Quin wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2018 9:11 pm I've given three reads. A reason is barely provided here, but that reason bears no explanatory value. I struggle to believe that Quin is moved by a generic question about a Day 0 poll. Any player regardless of alignment can ask that question in a state of total comfort.
Quin wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2018 2:43 amYet to make an impression.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2018 2:41 amWhat are your immediate impressions of Mac and I?Quin wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2018 2:38 amoh ok sorry ill do better next timeMacDougall wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2018 2:36 am Quin I'm sorry buddy but I actually had the same thoughts as Jimmy as I was going through page 1. "No, I lied" ought to mean that the prior statement (that I've not made an impression) was false, and that a correction is coming. The next sentence does not reflect an impression of me. It's an assumption about what I'm doing with my read with no visible effort or interest in actually reading me.
Now the same guy Quin handed a town read for no reason is getting negative press, though Quin still doesn't actually call him suspicious. He drops an anti-Kyle fart into an oscillating fan and waits for it to blow over the thread.
Gut reads are great. There's still nothing stopping Quin from actually answering this question though, because if a town read on the thread's highest-quantity poster exists then there must be something he can point to that would justify it. Lazy at best, bad at worst.
Civilian Quin tries to eat my face off. Quoting that entire thing for a one-line answer is the worst offense of all.
If I look past all of the perceived reads insincerity, I'm still left with a separate issue. I'll re-frame it as a question instead of an accusation: why won't you give a read on me?Quin wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2018 9:19 am @JaggedJimmyJay I'll say this, at least.
I've been unmotivated in games for a while now. It clearly seeped into the past three or four games I've played, especially Mountains. All kinds of reasons for that; some petty, some more legitimate. I'm not denying that it's my own fault but it's not that easy to jump right back into that ideal "character". Lazy, disinterested and unengaged are all accurate descriptors for me, but they don't mean I'm bad. I'm still participating, producing content and saying what I think, I've just ditched the bells and whistles you associate with "civilian behaviour" because I frankly cannot be assed.

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 0]
This is the stuff that looks gross to me at face value for you, Jack. You are free to disagree with my case, and you are free to read Quin however you may, but this just looks like it was pulled directly from the Mafia book of buddying. You're giving Quin a pass immediately ("not moved by any case on Quin") because of this simplistic and easily-replicable self-meta of "doing whatever I want". I suspect you more than him.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2018 10:10 amRight? This is the main reason I'm not moved by any case on Quin.
Gross. You are trying as hard as you can to gripe about my motions against Quin, and the result is this b/s about the "portion" of my content. You try to wiggle into this stance of suspicion on me but can't quite find the courage to just do it.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2018 10:10 amThe worst I can say about him is that he's tone pinging me a little earlier than usual. The accusations of genuinely trying to read people on Day 0? Weak.
I'm actually okay with Mac (old buddy old pal let me pocket you eh?) doing it cause I think it fits Mac's style but I don't see where Jimmy is coming from. I guess Jimmy is a at-the-wall thrower in the vein of Sloonei and MP but with his self imposed restriction, the weak case on Quin becomes a large part of Jimmy's content and paints him in a bad light. Hard to not be disappointed but the important part is if the root cause of Jimmy's overall posting being disappointing because he's not giving the 110% I'm used to or because he's bad.
"Paints him in a bad light" / "Hard to not be disappointed", BUT IhavenoideaifthisisactuallyalignmentindicativeandIamtalkingoutofmyarse.
Absolute horseshit. I'm limiting my posts because at the end of Vocaroo Too! I was confronted with numerous concerns that my intensity was preventing other civilians from enjoying the game as much as they could have. I've heard the same thing after multiple text-based games. I'm cutting myself down on a nightly basis to undefined portions (judged along with the general pace of the thread and my position in the post count ranks) to facilitate an easier environment for people who struggle to keep up. That doesn't mean I am not going to have fun with my play and stick teasers into the thread for people to pick at.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2018 10:13 am Also, if you're going to limit your post count and ignore questions because of it, using one of them to tease a fake hot take is lame and borderline antitown.
"borderline antitown" my ass. I would love for you to tell me with a straight face what negative civilian impact that silly nonsense had, or better yet how it benefits me in any other alignment.
