most of the people who have posted so far look civ so far, but then most of them are the people who always look civ to me. Sloonei's alternate interpretation of Quin is interesting though and Quin is someone I'm always waffly on. :ponder:

Out of the so-far-civ-reads I think my strongest 3 are Sloonei, Kyle, and Jack. They're safe from my D1 vote at this point unless something changes.

mmm forgot to mention the D0 poll... I'm totally clueless. Jay, Kyle, Jack had some good theorizing going but it mostly left me feeling clueless/trapped in a reverse psychology loop. since outworld is the baddie team, do we want to avoid it, or is there good reason to go there first? I also don't know anything about the setting either

Interesting that you hen picked who to make reads on/comment on after starting the post like you were about to skim read everybody.
Not sure what you mean by this? I read the whole thread before writing this post. This was just a summary of my thoughts on people as I was reading. What did I say that made you think I was "about to skim read everybody"?

Gut, I guess. I thought there was some specific post that made me feel that way from his tone or something, but I went back into his ISO and couldn't pin it down. Maybe just the way he jumped right in and put himself out there expressing opinions that were a bit against the grain, like his outworld vote reasoning and his eagerness to talk about people other than Quin.

That's not to say that I don't think Quin is a decent suspect at this point; I think the points against him have been okay so far, though I am always wary of misreading/mislynching him (especially since I tinfoiled him for so long in Mountains and he was civ the whole time). But I definitely think that Jack and Quin are non-w/w.

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 1]

I'm fairly occupied today (and will be tomorrow as well) so I'm keeping up with the thread but not putting a lot of time into analysis or anything. I feel better about Quin every time he posts so I don't think I'll be voting there. I haven't gotten the most stellar vibes from LC, speedchuck, or Tony, so I might go with one of those, though the votes are already pretty spread out. Looking at the player list I get the feeling we've only been talking about a subset of players, mostly those who have had more presence in the thread, and naturally most of the higher posters look more townie... idk, day 1 always feels like this and I wish I had more confident thoughts on anyone but I really don't. If I have more time later tonight I might try a rainbow but it'll be mostly yellow.

JaggedJimmyJay wrote: Sat Jan 13, 2018 10:47 pm nutella, a question for you:

In Mountain Mafia, you opened the game with a perspective of just do it on Day 1, allowing yourself to play "fast-and-loose" and voting as your whims inspired. Example

In this game you seem to be playing from a more timid, uncertain vantage point. You played very well in the mountains game and had a lot of success. Why do you think you've changed in this regard?
I did say I was going to try to vary my style more each game, lol. But yeah I do feel kind of back to my old waffly, flip-floppy, unsure-of-anything ways. Idk, haven't found my footing in this game yet, it's a bit bigger and more intimidating than Mountains and I haven't been in the same mood to play fast-and-loose like I did then (and even in that game it only lasted for the first couple days), plus I've been doing stuff irl and not thinking much about the game. I would throw a starter vote on someone just for kicks but I haven't even felt that strongly enough about anyone for more than a hot minute.

Part of me wants to follow Sloonei for all the rest of my days and second-guess my civ read of Jack, so I might consider that, but if I learned anything from Mountains it's that Sloonei isn't always right even when he's 99% confident in a case. :disappoint: :disappoint: :disappoint:

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 1]

Yeah I've mostly read Kyle as civ but the player salad question to Mac out of left field was a pretty bad look. He claimed not to be trying to change the subject but its timing as a response to Mac's suspicion of him looked sloppy and haphazard. I definitely don't like it taken in isolation; in the context of the rest of Kyle's posts it's sliiightly better but I'd still prefer it didn't exist (and I tend to agree with Mac's hot take on the general practice of such questions)

linki sloonei decent critical thoughts on Mac. I'm also seeing him as very town but like I said about Jay I don't want to get too comfortable so I'll keep your idea in mind.

She keeps saying she's waffley in other posts, but I don't see that in her reads. What I do see is a bunch of unsubstantiated reads based on 'vibes'. Even if I agree with some of her reads, I don't recall a single substantiated case from her.

And maybe this is just me being personal, but when I responded to that first post in topic, called her out on player salad, I got nothing. It feels like what we were accusing Made of on D0, but less... genuine?

I recommend ISOing her. Hard to put into words.
My reads are usually based on vibes. There is some substance/reasoning behind them but I have a hard time putting them into words or pulling specific posts because it's usually more general/based on their whole body of posts. I don't usually do big quotey iso cases, it's just not how I play.

I'm not sure what you meant about the player salad accusation. The closest I've come to player salad is naming the three players I've gotten the worst vibes from.

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Night 1]

[mention]novaselinenever[/mention] just so you know for future phases, in most games on this site we don't really accept deliberate abstinence from voting as a legit option, and repeated missed votes can lead to punishment or replacement due to non-participation. I know on some other sites (and in some games here) there is a valid "no-lynch" option but usually we expect active players to cast a vote for a player even if it's for a really weak reason. Actually, the rules of this game don't seem to call this out specifically, so maybe the hosts can clarify on their attitude toward abstaining.

Also Made has wilgy as his second strongest town read on the strength of this post and nothing else (wilgy's only other contribution at the time of made's rainbow was an OT comment about jack's avatar). I guess I overlooked this post when I was discussing Made's observation about heat on me, but I don't really take this seriously since it doesn't seem like wilgy's expressing an actual suspicion of me, rather he's just shaking his fist at me for having close to 50 posts on Day 0. Then your post following also was too long and fluffy.

Comparing your first buncha posts here to other civ Sloonei posts makes me feel that you are being non genuine here. An example of difference can be found by comparing this game to the search for Quin.

Now. Why did I have to bark for you to bat an eye?

"All I have to do is divine from what I know of you. Are you the sort of man who would put the poison into his own goblet or his enemy's? Now, a very clever man would put the poison into his own goblet because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool, you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me."

- Vizzini, The Princess Bride

I love to receive movie references that are meaningful in context. Jay's doing a really great job using the resources that he has to provide content ( which is the best present a girl could ask for).

Speaking of clever use, I don't suppose that Quin is buying me more expensive dishes every time he sees someone he suspects, and cheaper ones when he likes them? Or perhaps the other way around? It would be nice to figure that out, but in the meantime I'm enjoying all the delicious food he's ordering.

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 2]

I really appreciate this luxurious item I've been given that is enfranchisement, and I'm really excited to try it out, but I'm not quite sure what to do with it yet. So far I've heard of people using this product on things such as DrWilgys and TonyStarkPrimes, and from my perspective those are both decent enough choices that I might consider. Not sure I'd waste such a lovely treat on the completely absent toothed bird, but I'd be open to seeing how it might work on a Dave.

I think for now I will test out my wonderful gift on Tony. I wasn't impressed with him on day 1, and although one could argue in his favor that he has been trying to participate more recently despite the... shall we say... stark limitations of his own "gift" today, I have also noticed that one of my other suspects, speedchuck, is voting for the candidate who is currently one vote ahead of Tony. That's about as sufficient a reason as I feel I'm likely to come up with on this day of chaos. So, thanks again hosts for the beautiful shiny poll, that was really thoughtful of you and I think it'll look great on Iron Man.

It's a strange aberration, this brainstorm of youth
Though it's lost in translation from fancy to truth
It's hopelessly human, both inside and out
A joyous occasion, no reason to doubt
It's easy somehow, what once was elusive is calling me now
I'm really excited to open this box of better ideas that speedchuck sent me!

It's been a long and amazing Time, how it's wasted is such a crime
And the stories we heard Still echo in the distance
Filled with promises and Pain, we had everything to gain
But the pride that comes before a fall is with us

Lights are on and nobodY's home, we've gone from color to monochrome
Like some faded photograph with ghOstly faces
Whether enemy or a friend, it's the message that we send
We will never change withoUt until we change within

Back when the World was so young (when the world was young)
To the day when the fIrst song was sung (when the world was young)
We chose our own way to bLack, white or GraY
When the world was young

Are we learning from the past or has it alL been already Cast
Who can change the course of a war against all reason
There was one prevailing wind and we said we've got to make a stand
And now the barrier's between us for a treason
With the exception of myself, those are some great ideas you've packed in there! But while I don't feel great about any of those three on general vibes, nobody has given me any shinier case than the one dunya gave me that contained a summary of suspicious content from sig on gorgeous stationery.

welp so both sig and mac were civ. :\

that sure was a stressful day phase, lol. I had it easier than some other people but it was still hard to phrase my posts. Had fun with it though. My curse was to "act like I had received a gift" (a reference to the Holiday Goodie Exchange which I ran this year).

rabbit8 you received your role before end or day. Did it have any strange day 2 posting stipulation ?
Holy shit! Love the notification thing. Do you have to @ the name for it? Do you have to use the correct spelling and shit?
I'm on page 3...
No... Not that I'm aware of.
You type @ and start typing the beginning of the name and it'll pop up to autocomplete. Also, if you quote a post with a mention (as I'm doing now) you should delete the @ or it'll keep popping up

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 2]

[mention]Kylemii[/mention], I haven't played either vocaroo game, but my impression from what I've heard is that Eloh tended to participate more in vocaroo than she normally does in traditional text-based games. I've seen her normal style here, nothing alignment-indicative either way.

what about her participation in mountains?
What about it? She was bad in that game, and I think she participated a fair amount but did her usual always-being-behind/catching-up. I don't really have substantial insights about her meta, but if anything I could say that since it looks like she tried to post a lot more in that game when she was bad, she looks neutral with the few posts she has here so far, but she could easily be trying to hide behind that or distancing herself from her play in Mountains. Idk, what do you think?

I buy it.

Moreover, Wilgy has shown himself capable of busting open a scum team while only posting smilies but when given that post restriction today did exactly nothing when asked to contribute.
Now this is a decent argument.

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Night 2]

That's actually a rather compelling point on Quin. I hadn't really thought of it that way but it is fishy. I've felt good about him otherwise though.

I need to figure out whether I'm more suspicious of wilgy or speedchuck because it's really looking like they're not w/w.

I don't like this post. screams "wishy washy yucky distancing" to me. :disappoint:
Okay. It is in fact wishy-washy. That's how my reads often are, that's how my reads on Quin often are, and that's how my read of Quin is right now. Not distancing or yucky though. Just indecisive.

just for completeness I feel that this post belongs in dunya's summary/in response to quin saying she's misrepresenting him. in this post he agrees with glorf that the case on sig is weak (not necessarily that he thinks sig is town, but this does sound like he is arguing against the sig lynch)
