CIVVIES
Tevye
Image
Tevye is a simple milkman who loves his family and traditions. He will protect someone every night. If he protects one of his daughters, they will gain BTSC. He may only have BTSC with one daughter at a time (ie., until one dies).

Golde
Image
Golde knows the way to make a proper home, a quiet home, a kosher home. She may stop one lynch.

Tzeitel
Image
Tzeitel, Tevye's eldest daughter, is independent and wants to marry based on love. For every lynch in which she takes no votes, she will start the next lynch with -1 vote.

Hodel
Image
Hodel, the second daughter, loves Perchik and is willing to go far from the home she loves to be with him. Twice in the game she may choose to visit him in Siberia; if she is targeted on those nights nothing will happen.

Chava
Image
Tevye's third daughter is an avid reader. Every night she may read up on a player and discover their role.

Motel
Image
The tailor Motel Kamzoil loves Tzeitel and gains courage from his love for her. If Motel votes the same way as Tzeitel in a lynch, his vote will count for three.

Perchik
Image
Perchik is a revolutionary, wanting to usher in a new era to Russia. It didn't pan out so well. To shake things up, he will redirect a player every night.

Fyedka
Image
A local Russian Gentile, Fyedka is not a target of the authorities. He will survive the first attempt on his life.

Lazar Wolf
Image
The local butcher, whose name sounds exactly like "Laser Wolf." On odd nights Lazar Wolf will transform into a wolf and track a player. On even nights he will shoot lasers at someone, blocking them.

Yente
Image
The matchmaker knows best, right? Of course right. Every night Yente will search a player and discover whether they have BTSC.

Avram
Image
He's the guy on the left. Avram is the local bookkeeper and one of the few in town with access to news of the outside world. He will post his thoughts each day.

The Rabbi
Image
The Rabbi is recognized as the spiritual authority in town. He will decide any ties.

THE RUSSIAN POLICE
The Constable
Image
The Constable carries out the team's kill every night.

This Guy
Image
This Guy is a Russian Official who demands that pogroms be carried out to assert Russian authority. He will inflict a punishment of his choice on a player each night.

Random Soldier
Random Soldier may block a player every night.

INDEPENDENT

Fruma Sarah

Re: Fiddler on the Roof Mafia

Day 0 - Any Day Now

Anatevka. Anatevka has been our home for many years. Yes, it is hard work, yes, we are poor, yes, we struggle to get by every day. But as the Good Book says, "A hard life leads to a happy death." Don't ask me where it says that. It's somewhere in the back.

We have been here for generations. But not just us, our neighbors who make up the wider town. They keep to themselves, and we are happy to do the same. Avram sometimes brings word of this edict or that threat that the Tsar makes, and I thank God that we live far away from him. So far, he has not noticed our little town, and no trouble has come to us. You may ask, "What would happen if there were trouble in Anatevka?" I'll tell you...

I don't know.

What's this? Avram is sprinting into the town square, as white as the milk I carry into the village each morning.

"Fruma Sarah is dead!" he says. The crowd is shocked, because they didn't even know she was sick.

"Dead?"

"The butcher's wife?"

"Yes, and not only dead - murdered!"

So, trouble has come to Anatevka. Well, what can you do?

It is now Day 0. You have 24 hours to check in and discuss who may have turned Fruma Sarah into a vengeful spirit.

The metaphor is explained in the narration:

"But in our little village of Anatevka, you might say every one of us is a fiddler on the roof, trying to scratch out a pleasant, simple tune without breaking his neck."

Re: Fiddler on the Roof Mafia

It's the Butcher's Wife Come from Beyond the Grave

That night I slept not so easily. It is a hard thing, knowing that a murderer lives in your town. But I drifted off to sleep sometime, and I had the most horrible dream!

I found myself in a vast graveyard, with all of our dead relatives there! Not only that, I saw many, many other dead people. Very many said they had been lynched. I suspect this is the Tsar's doing, but I didn't ask them, so I don't know.

Suddenly there was the sound of thunder, and the ground opened up. And who should appear but Lazar Wolf's dead wife, Fruma Sarah!

"How could you do this to me?" she said.

"Do what?" I asked.

"You all paid no attention while I was murdered in my own home!" she said, and I couldn't disagree. You should not disagree with dead women, anyway.

"Now, I seek vengeance! The only way to appease me is to find the killer and kill them yourselves!" she said.

"But the Good Book says - " I said.

"Or I'll kill YOU!" she said.

"Very good," I said. "I'll tell everyone to form a mob after I deliver the milk tomorrow."

It is now Day 1. You have 24 hours to lynch someone.

Re: Fiddler on the Roof Mafia

Day 1 - No Miracle of Miracles Today

Early in the morning, the townsfolk assembled in the center of our village. I had told everyone that a murderer was among us, so we needed to stick together. Like the Good Book says, "Birds of a feather don't get killed."

We wondered whether it was the doing of one of our Gentile neighbors. Then we realized something very, very important. This murder took place on a Sunday, which to them is like a sort of Sabbath. Thus there is no way this crime was committed by a Gentile. One of our own was to blame!

It was about this time, I noticed that Spacedaisy was not with us. She was the only one of the townsfolk not present in our mob! What reason could she have for missing such an important event unless she was the killer!

We stormed her tailor shop, where Daisy was sitting sewing a fancy curtain. Or, maybe not a curtain. That doesn't matter, what matters is we wrapped it around Daisy's neck until her glasses fell off and she collapsed, dead. My daughter Tzeitel burst into tears over her beloved's death. I told her, "You are to marry the butcher, Lazar Wolf. Be happy."

Daisy has been lynched. She was the tailor Motel Kamzoil.

Night 1 - Sabbath Prayer

So the tailor was not our enemy. Still, we knew he was out there, and it was our duty to find this fiend before any more harm came to our village. However, it was also about to be the Sabbath, so we decided that the search could wait awhile.

It seems the killer thought so as well. He's very considerate, this killer. He knows his Leviticus.

It was a quiet and peaceful evening, let us hope the first of many.

Nobody has been killed. Effective immediately, Spacedaisy is replacing Dave.

Re: Fiddler on the Roof Mafia

The morning report from Avram:

What up, meshugenahs? It's Avram here to lay down some scripture for y'all. Day 1 was rough and tensions were high. It was tragic to lose Daisy, but things could have turned out worse. Thankfully there's a lot to pull out in terms of content from that day. So let's begin!

The last minute exodus away from Sloonei and Epignosis in the poll was troubling. It could in part be that players tend to be averse to lynching vocal leaders on Day 1, but it would be neglectful to ignore the possibility that the Devil's hands were active in this movement. If you're asking me, I'd prefer we focus on Epignosis of the two.

Why Epignosis? Because his case stinks. There's no noticeable progression. There's no discernible reason at all from this bookkeeper's perspective.

It's not all wrath and fury though. This Israelite thinks Macdougall is alright. His night work has been a godsend, and it should receive it's due focus during this upcoming day phase.

Nutella might not be kosher. Us Jews got to stick together, and I'm not so sure she's doing that. The conversation needs to be open and flowing, but I don't feel that coming from her.

That's all I've got for you this night, folks. Be thorough and active, and if you're with us, be accepting of others. These times are tough, but the promised land is ahead of us.

Day 2 - Rabbi 2 Rabbi: The Rabbining

The townsfolk stormed the local police station, demanding justice.

"We're doing everything we can," said one officer. A random soldier moved to escort the mob out.

"That's not enough!" the Rabbi cried, shoving the random soldier through a nearby wall with golem-like strength. The random soldier was crushed by the rubble.

Lorab has been lynched. She was Random Soldier.

Re: Fiddler on the Roof Mafia

Night 2 - Dance-Off, Bro

Success! The first of our enemies has been struck down by the wrath of God, working through our beloved Rabbi. But there is still much work to be done. Still, it's not everyday a murderer gets put through a wall in Anatevka. There was only one place to celebrate - Mordcha's inn.

We celebrated with a round of drinks and (strictly male) dancing, to the delight of all present. Just then, the young Russian men who had been sitting at a nearby table rose and walked up to us. Within moments the dance battle ensued. It raged for who knows how long. We did not then know that a killer lurked among them, for after a particularly impressive sequence a knife flew from their group towards us.

"To life!" Speedchuck exclaimed as he went to take another drink. Just then the knife flew into his throat. We decided to call the dance battle a draw, for such things as murder can make it much harder to judge who won. We knew it would have been us anyway.

Speedchuck has been killed. It is now Day 3. You have 24 hours to lynch someone.

Re: Fiddler on the Roof Mafia

A message from Avram:

Hey nice job. I think it's worth looking into the possibility of that poll being a two-way tie between mafia partners. LoRab and LC both seemed to want to push for Epignosis and didn't offer much criticism of each other. It helps that I think everyone on that Long Con wagon is circumcised.

If there's time, the Daisy lynch train could also be revealing, but given the events of Day 2 we probably have better avenues to pursue this phase. It's probably more prudent to focus on yesterday's lynch and develop reads from there. Kyle and Long Con seem like good places to start. Novaselinenever is a wild card. Rule nobody out, but don't get caught up in paranoia. This is a good spot to be in.

Re: Fiddler on the Roof Mafia

Day 3 - Remember Alf? He's Back, in Pogrom Form

We all stormed the police station again, sure that we would find another of the killers there. LC was already sitting inside.

"There you guys are!" he cried. "They've arrested me, and I think they plan to kill me!"

I would have believed his story. It was a very believable story. However, the police officers were sitting in the back room playing cards, and LC was not handcuffed. It was then that I noticed that LC was also the chief of police. We grabbed him, tore up the front desk, and then threw him on top of the shards, where he was impaled quite intensely.

There was a letter on the floor addressed to LC from the Tsar, saying that he was to carry out a pogrom in Anatevka later that day. Lucky we came in when we did, or we would have had a very bad day.

LC has been lynched. He was The Constable.

Re: Fiddler on the Roof Mafia

Night 3 - This Guy Gets It

With the Constable dead, the Anatevka Police Department was under new management. The Tsar had sent This Guy himself to take over and enforce a vicious regime of terror upon the village. This Guy wasted little time in making himself credible; he assembled all of the villagers in the town square and made a bold proclamation.

"The time for vigilantism is over," he thundered. "To make it clear that our Empire will have none of it, I've arranged a...demonstration here tonight."

The soldiers scanned the crowd for potential victims, and found Nutella mimicking This Guy disrespectfully. Enraged by her insolence, they dragged her to the front of the crowd. This Guy drew a pistol and shot Nutella in the heart.

"Another attempt to subvert my authority, and more shall fall!" he said ominously, turning on his heel and walking back to the station.

Nutella has been killed. It is now Day 4. You have 24 hours to lynch someone.

This is Avram's Night 3 message. Avram does not have much to say other than to encourage his Jewish brothers and sisters to keep up the good work. There is work to be done, but it's being done. The more we keep turning things inside out, the harder it will be for our adversary to hide. Trust in each other and remember the commandments and this game is ours. Avram out.

Day 4 - Why Talk About Love Right Now?

It seems there was one thing we could all agree on: we could not agree! Some said vote for Epi, some said vote for Nova, it was very confusing.

"What about Wilgy?" someone asked. I admit, I do find him very suspicious. On the other hand, how can I lynch someone for being just a little strange? On the other hand, perhaps his strangeness is to hide how dangerous he really is. On the other hand...

While I pondered these things, my dear Golde came forward and shooed the crowd away. She's never liked violence, which is not a bad thing. Not a bad thing at all.

Night 5 - A Blessing and You're Dead, Mazel Tov, Mazel Tov

It was a very still and quiet night in Anatevka. The townsfolk slept uneasily, fearing that This Guy could burst into their home at any point and demand blood. Happily for the townsfolk, This Guy was nowhere to be found on this particular night.

But there was something stirring in Anatevka. A shriek and a howl emanated from the graveyard, and soon a human scream pierced the air from one of their homes. The villagers ran over to find the source of this commotion. Poor FZ was dead as a doornail. She never stood a ghost of a chance.

Re: Fiddler on the Roof Mafia

Day 6 - Finale

Tevye is not narrating, because he is dead. He actually died some time ago. Many of the townsfolk have fallen victim to the violence which has beset their peaceful village. Summoning his strength with the power of the Lord on his side, the Rabbi rallied the survivors, and they met once more in the town square.

"We demand justice for our father!" cried Tevye's two remaining daughters.

"I demand justice for my husband!" cried Golde.

"PEW PEW PEW!" cried Lazar Wolf, shooting lasers angrily in all directions.

"Friends, I have listened to the Lord's wisdom. The one we seek is...Daisy!" the Rabbi pointed at Daisy, who was casually trying to walk to the edge of town. Within moments they had grabbed her and pulled her back in. Daisy pulled a pistol.

"For the glory of the Tsar!" she yelled, but just then Lazar leapt into the air. His lupine form pounced on Daisy and bit her throat until she was still.

From the graveyard a wail went up, and the ghost of Fruma Sarah would trouble Anatevka no longer.

Just then, a mailman came in, carrying a note which read as follows:

"Hey guys, Russia's gonna be a most bogus place to be in a few years. Here are five tickets to America. Find us in San Dimas! Party on, dudes!"

The survivors left behind the bloodshed of their home, their sights set on a brighter tomorrow. The fiddler followed from a distance, playing a plaintive melody. Nobody got him a ticket.

Daisy has been lynched. She was This Guy.

Congratulations to the civvies!

Re: Fiddler on the Roof Mafia

FZ, you were blocked because all civvie powers were directed onto NVN. I interpreted Tevye's protection as meaning that the protectee was immune to all other night powers, which means a role check on him would fail.

Kyle, Epi was cursed to obtain the second highest number of votes in the lynch or else there would be two nights in a row. He did his best, but Dizzy has five votes already due to being cursed previously. In hindsight, I don't think I should have allowed that curse in the first place, I don't think it was really fair to have the cursed player take additional votes for the next seven lynches. But Dizzy was a fantastic sport despite being handicapped all game.

Also Kyle, Lazar blocked Daisy, which is why This Guy didn't kill. Fruma had one kill to use on any night of the game. Her win condition was that she could not be killed as long as Tzeitel was alive, but she needed to survive and for Tzeitel to be dead in order to win.

I let them come up with curses and punishments, with the only caveat being that I had to approve it. I did slightly modify a couple of curses, but for the most part gave them creative control. I won't be running a curse power in any future games though, because every time someone gets cursed it's super obvious and everyone just keeps talking about it. :D
