Re: I Got 99 Problems....

bea, why dont you go ahead and make an appointment with your doctor now instead of waiting until Monday? Just because the ER said Monday that doesnt mean you have to wait. Sounds like they ruled out appendicitis which is good.

Quin, that first job after uni is always the hardest. Don't worry, something will come along that suits your talents and your interests. Glad you didn't take a position that would have made you miserable.

Re: I Got 99 Problems....

Oh epi thats terrible. I had to look it up because I had never heard of it. For anyone else who doesn't know here was the definition I found:

Cubital Tunnel Syndrome is a condition that involves pressure or stretching of the ulnar nerve (also known as the “funny bone” nerve), which can cause numbness or tingling in the ring and small fingers, pain in the forearm, and/or weakness in the hand.

Epi, what do you think caused it?

So the storm track has shifted west today and Irma is due to pass right over Tampa. People are freaking out. The interstates are a mess. We are mostly worried about wind, not so much about water. All of our Public supermarkets closed at noon and Home Depot never even opened. So scary.

Wow I can't believe someone who sees themselves as an educator basically said your students were a lost cause IN FRONT OF THEM. That is just completely inappropriate. Is there anyone you can complain to? I mean really, that is bad, bad, bad.

Mongoose wrote: Fri Jun 08, 2018 9:35 pm For some levity -- is anyone else scandalized by the sudden proliferation of rosé wine? I can't seem to get away from it. There's even a local place where you can have a flight of rosé (but you can also have a pinot noir flight).

Anyone else annoyed by this trend? It's ubiquitous!
I am also scandalized. I was raised that rose is not real wine - only white and red are real! Though I must say my new favorite champagne is a pink champagne so that might be close to a rose wine.

Re: I Got 99 Problems....

DDL - Who do you feel an obligation to that makes you feel like you need to take the job? I would suggest your only obligation is to yourself and your future self. When I read through your post, the answer I see being the best for you shines in giant letters, so I'm obviously missing a piece and I think it's in the question I ask. I agree wholeheartedly with Nutella, look at what's best for your emotional health and your future.

Re: I Got 99 Problems....

sprityo wrote: Mon Sep 23, 2019 5:24 am Found out the other day that financial aid only granted me $500 out of the $3000 I need that isn’t covered under my Military Tuition Assistance and scholarship. It was covered completely last academic school year so that’s why I was surprised. So I called and asked about paying it back and am stuck on either paying the $2500 now or waiting until I’m out of the military since my contract ends this upcoming June.

By that time I’ll be out, done with this second academic year, and switching my degree from the associates to the bachelors. I’ll also be using my Post 9/11 GI Bill to pay for what I estimated is the entirety of my tuition cost. I was hoping if I just waited it out until then that the gi bill would cover that owed cost but the school won’t give me an answer. The school did say however that I don’t get any late fees or interest accrued on the cost for the year, and I don’t have a time limit to pay it back.

So I’m just in a pickle whether I should foot the bill now or not. I’ll keep receiving emails saying I owe money but from what I’ve been told no consequence will happen if I don’t pay immediately. It’s not a matter if I can or not (I have the money) it’s just that’s a lot of money. Enough to cover one year of my life insurance policy, equal to one month of deployment pay, or two months stateside.
Sprityo I'm sorry to hear this has happened to you. Our military men and women deserve a tuition free education and if for some reason you can't get it this semester you at least deserve some answers from the school.

I would make sure if I were you that paying the bill late won't affect your credit score because that score follows you around and affects other credit you may need (a credit car, another car, a house, etc.). I know it's hard to think about depleting your savings, especially if thats cash you have set aside for emergencies. I would be tempted to wait it out and see if the GI bill will cover it if your credit won't be affected. Can someone at OPM or whoever runs the GI bill program answer your question or just the school?

ColinIsCool wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2020 10:16 am I haven’t been around much because I’ve had to devote my energy to finding a new job after quitting mine about 2 weeks ago. My last day was Wednesday and while I am posting in the misery thread the real problem was taking the job in the first place.

Suffice to say it was not for me and this was extremely apparent by only a few months in. Most of the time my work felt pointless and/or unethical, and my bosses were a bit of a nightmare. A lot of the time it felt like we were playing work instead of actually working. The reasons I took the job turned out to be fairy dust.

At any rate, there’s no reason to wake up every morning with dread consuming you if you can avoid it, so I quit. I was unemployed for a stretch when I was just out of school (when I started playing here) and it was a very difficult time for me, for a few reasons. I told myself when that ended I would never do it again ... well, this new job was even worse than whatever I went through not having one.

Honestly, I feel pretty good about it all. I’m going to end up dipping into my savings either a little or a lot but that’s what they’re there for. Realistically I think I might have an offer by this week or next, but even if I don’t, things will work out eventually! It’s more of an opportunity than it is a problem, as corny as that sounds. (And maybe I’ll have some extra time to play Mafia. :slick: )
You were right to leave a soul-sucking job. I feel sure you will find something quickly, unemployment is extremely low right now, employers are looking for good people.
