Have you ever been to the actual Battersea Power Station?
I have last December. It seems under heavy repairs, two of the horns were even taken down.
Battersea Park is my dog's favourite place to walk so I go there frequently.

One was taken down and replaced, and now the other three are being repaired. TThe council apparently wants to make sure the new ones look the same. but you can still tell which one is the new one right now because it is a different color. Needs to be painted still.

I've actually researched the Battersea restoration project quite a bit recently. When I took my dad to the airport no one believed me that one of them was gone recently :suspish: so I had to look it all up when I got home.

I hate all this other game talk. Other games should be left in other games, and anyone who votes based off it at this point is being oppurtunistic. When I first read it I felt like Sorsha was really quick to jump on it, but I also feel a bit that she might have felt forced to comment on it as it is dominating conversation (like I have to do here).

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Day 2

RIP Banana and RIPIYWG Timmer. Sorry for missing the vote and general absence. Will try to be more around from here on out.

I like the points about sig, and am interested to hear his response. Lorab's post remarking about Timmer's low posting also bothers me.
LoRab wrote:Thinking about Timmer's death...and RIPIYWG Timmer of course...two things dawn on me. One is that the mafia team was going for a low poster. Two is that it would seem like good strategy for someone to separate themselves from killing a low poster by talking about how against lynching low posters they are. Just a thought.
Partially because the idea is similar to that of sig's (something discussed in btsc maybe) and this really just feels like trying to set up someone talking about lynching a low poster.

Sorry still haven't been around. I've been skimming, but I hope to read the thread more fully tomorrow. I don't see the case on most of the people getting votes, so I'm going with Sig who I do see the case on. I'm not sure what time the lynch ends and I don't want to miss it.

Nutella and bubbles avoided answering the question 'are you civ aligned'. I think mafia would have deliberately avoided it.

Nutella made a distancing post about bubbles
Bubbles made a distancing post before timmer's death about wanting to see more from timmer, despite there being HEAPS of very quiet people (including her)

I believe Nutella and bubbles are both bad, and are together on the team that killed timmer.
Golden, now that we know timmer was a civ does that shift bubbles off of your suspect list since you are talking about her post that seemed to be a distancing post from timmer? Or do you think her supposed avoidance of the 'are you civ aligned' question leave her on your suspect list? I'm not denying bubbles is bad I just want to know how you feel about your evidence now that timmer was revealed as good.
I don't think he is accusing her of being timmers teammate. I think the point was that he thinks she killed timmer, and distanced from it in the thread by saying she would like to hear more from him. I think Golden makes good points on this, and am curious what TinyBubbles reasoning is for wanting to hear more from timmer as opposed to all the other quiet players.

Bass_the_Clever wrote:Non changeable votes makes people use there vote and place it somewhere it's going to stick and doesn't allow people to jump all or the place.
Changeable votes benefit civilians more than Mafia.

Tell me, anyone: When you are bad, do you feel less or more comfortable going into a Day phase knowing that the tide can turn against you at the eleventh hour?
Bass_the_Clever wrote:Do you have two people you really think that are mafia ? With out a question of a doubt?
Without a question of doubt?

Erm...no.

If I did, this game would cease to offer any entertainment value whatsoever. I'd rather play pick up sticks if no element of doubt were involved.
Bass_the_Clever wrote:Can you honestly say that to Lynches can't benefit the mafia too?
That's a risk you take when you sign up for Mafia in the first place. There are, at most, eight Mafia loose. If this is seriously your viewpoint, then you are arguing that we shouldn't have any lynches, because lynches can hurt civilians.

My argument is that a lynch is the civilians' primary weapon. It stands to reason, therefore, that two lynches for the price of one benefit civilians.

Yes, those lynches have to be right, but that fact doesn't change whether you have one lynch or fifteen- it's the object of the game.
I agree that lynches are civvies primary weapon on because it gives civvies the most important thing in a mafia game, information. Now the odds are not in favor of lynching to mafia with where the numbers stand, hell that aren't even that great to Lynch one mafia. That's why I don't like the double Lynch. I think we would have got more information from just a single Lynch but it's a dead point now.
Can you explain how one lynch would give more information?

Voted no. I don't think it's ever a great idea to restrict lynches that much. Plus because sometimes baddies are low posters doesn't mean they can't be high posters too. I think the high posters are just as likely to be randomly assigned a baddie role as a low poster, and I honestly don't think most of the people in this game really change how much they post based on affiliation.

Can you name anything else MM has done on-topic in this game?
Nope. Don't know what to make of MM yet. He always does that vote checking thing though, so I don't think that's weird. He seems to be starting to make effort. So hard to say if it isn't just because he has been busy up until this point.

I'm not definitely saying I suspect new TH yet either. He feels different.

Canuck I am not sure what you are expecting. You could actually be uninterested, but it feels like you are pushing that angle a bit more then what I feel like you have done when you are a civvie. I don't know your role so I don't what your "un-civ" intentions are.
I'm not sure what grey area of the game setup you are talking about, but that's nothing new. I pay more attention to posts then role mechanics when looking for baddies.

"Someone should check it out" ?? Did you see the part where that space on the map blew up?
I'm starting to think that you put the beacon there :ponder:
I did not see that part, no

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Day 8

timmer wrote:Read through splints' posts.

So one question I have for splints, from earlier in the game, is what this post was about:
fingersplints wrote:RIP Banana and RIPIYWG Timmer.

I read this as you agreeing that sig is suspicious (like the points about sig) but simultaneously suspecting lorab for suspecting sig? What was your gist, here? I don't see how you could suspect both sides of something?

As for the rest of splints' posts, she never really latched onto the cases against the known baddies, but has spent time commenting on things without getting too involved, a lot like how juliets often does. She NO U'd Epig at one point.

I'm not sure anything cries out as baddie specifically, but I don't get a strong civ vibe, either. The latest posts are a bit odd, to say the least, but maybe she's just not caught up?
I'm not sure how you can say that you don't see how I could suspect both sides of something. There are many roles in this game, and because they might not be teammates it doesn't mean they both couldn't be bad or Indy. Lorab responded pretty well after, but what caught my eye in her comment was that she was subtly pushing looking at those who could have been distancing without mentioning names. Seemed vague for Lorab.
The other thing that bothered me was how many people were jumping on sig while no one was mentioning Lorab for having a similar (although not totally the same corrected by juliets) thought.

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Day 8

There is only one similarity between me and the BoB game and that is in both of them I had RL internet issues that have prevented me from posting more. I'm not sure how people can really say they even find them similar, when in BoB I distanced like crazy from my teammates, and in this game it seems one of the accusations is that I have stayed away from the baddie lynches.

I have more to address I am sure, but I am still trying to get the PC fully operational , so will be back later. For now I am voting Floyd because self preservation + he doesn't seem to want to play. I also could consider a vote for bass, who I have a break to let him get caught up earlier when I questioned him, but hasn't done anything to make me feel better about him.

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Day 8

When I voted, Floyd had three votes while I only had one, but also had two speculated votes. (TH and golden) that would have tied me with Floyd
So yea, self preservation

Don't see how that's that weird

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Day 8

Dr wilgy had two votes (one of which - golden - talked of voting me) so self preservation again makes sense. Why shouldn't I vote to save myself Dom?

splintsy, maybe you're having internet problems, I will take you at your word there. But internet problems did not stop you from posting three times yesterday about how you thought the beacon was interesting. Your internet was working then, so you had an opportunity to be engaged in the game, but only chose to talk about how you think the beacon is interesting. And when I know that you struggle to be engaged as a baddie from past experience, that concerns me.

You and SVS voting for Floyd "because he wants out" does not make me feel all warm and fuzzy either. When did we start lynching people because they want to be replaced?

I posted three times about it TH? Really? I posted once about it, then continued to post about it to defend myself.

I actually don't struggle to be engaged as a baddie. When I am revealed as a civvie it will prove that you are either intentionally mischaracterising how I play or just don't know me well at all.

Also TH - I'd always rather see someone lynched then modkilled. Lynching gives us information. Mod killing does not.

I like how you equate asking to be replaced with modkilling. :ponder:
Running out of replacements has caused a lot of mod killing in recent games, so it isn't much of a stretch.

Whatever you think I said in a baddie chat I don't think I worded it like that, as I don't find that I struggle to get involved as a baddie, so we will have to agree to disagree.

So you admit I had posts getting involved prior to the past 8 days. How does that line up with your view on a "baddie splints"? Wouldn't I have had trouble getting involved then too?

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Day 8

I think that lorabs point could have merit, but I also agree with draconus. I don't know Floyd well enough to know if he prefers to be a baddie or civvie. I know I personally can convince myself to keep going with a game I don't have time/desire to play if I had btsc to worry about. If it's just myself, I care less. But I know other players who prefer to be a civvie and are probably the opposite

I have not only spoke about defending myself. I commented on Floyd quitting, and bass. And damn right I am concerned about getting lynched atm. I'd be fucking crazy not to be.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Day 8

I can say that I am trying. Because it isn't an acceptable level to you, that doesn't make it "not trying".

You have said I am only focused on not getting lynched and that isn't true. I've tried to talk about other stuff too. But when I am in danger of getting lynched my number one focus is always not getting lynched.

I know you didn't ask me, but I have been getting civvie vibes from Bullz. I'm willing to consider your points more, but I am not seeing it yet
