Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 0]

Episode 0: Two Bothans Walk into a Bar....
Epignosis and DharmaHelper were the Rebel Alliances' top Bothan spies. Their most recent mission found them smack in the middle of the seedy underbelly of the planet Tatooine; the crowned jewel of the Hutt's criminal enterprise. Their mission: to obtain a communication between Jabba, the planet's most influential crime lord, and the bounty hunter known as Bobba Fett. Rebel Alliance High Command believed that Jabba was planning to make a move by hiring Fett for an assassination, and DharmaHelper and Epignosis were tasked with finding out the identity of the target. Such intel could prove invaluable, given the right set of circumstances. And so the duo walked into Jabba's palace, their disguises keeping their dashing figures concealed from prying eyes. Epignosis naturally gravitated to the bar to "collect intelligence", which DharmaHelper took to mean he would be largely on his own for the first phase of their plan: Identify Jabba's right hand, Bib Fortuna, and tail him to his office where the communication was likely to be kept.

Jabba's Palace, as always, was a wretched hive of scum and villainy. The constant din of club music and the whirling, almost enchanting lights, made the place disorienting and enticing at the same time. Taking a quick glance around, DharmaHelper noticed no fewer than a half dozen of the galaxies deadliest and most wanted killers. and that was just the VIP section. Finding Fortuna in the literal sea of criminals and degenerates was starting to seem like a near impossible task, when DharmaHelper heard from a far off shadowy corner of the Palace the tell-tale gravely voice call out.

"Jabba sends his regards, and hopes you find these accommodations...satisfactory." with a soft bow, the Twi'lek majordomo excused himself from a small group of what appeared to be mercenaries or smugglers of some description, judging by their hard faces and matching "uniforms". Keeping his eyes on Fortuna, DharmaHelper signaled Epignosis that the operation was on, and sunk into the shadows in order to better observe their target. To his credit, Bib Fortuna took the time to rub elbows with as many of the guests at the Palace as possible. Although, DharmaHelper supposed, this was as much an extention of Hutt hospitality as it was an effort for Fortuna himself to forge new alliances.

Epignosis, spotting the signal, finished his last drink and rose up to join DharmaHelper in tailing Bib. Remembering their training, the two of them flanked Bib Fortuna and kept a good distance between them, anticipating their targets movements. At last, Bib Fortuna made his way to what seemed to be a more restricted area of the Palace, which was no problem for either of the Bothans with their natural abilities of concealment. Just as Bib Fortuna opened the door to his offices, Epignosis and DharmaHelper slid in unnoticed, their blasters drawn. Slowly they crept behind the Twi'lek, ready to incapacitate him and make off with their objective. Epignosis struck first, knocking Bib Fortuna to the floor with a quiet thud. This allowed DharmaHelper to begin searching the office for clues. As he did so, he established communication with rebel High Command, to inform them of their progress.

"We're in the office, looking for the communication now High Command. I don't see anything mentioning a possible assassination just yet...Hold that, I may have something. Sending the files to you now, Command. This is some alarming stuff."

Out from the darkness, a red flash filled the room as a blaster bolt struck Epignosis in the chest, and the poor Bothan fell over in a slump. Bib Fortuna cackled, filling the room with a sharp sick laughter as he shot out again, this time blasting a hole in DharmaHelper's skull. Hearing the noise, an assortment of guards stormed into the office, though they were too late. The Bothan spies lay dead, and the results of their mission in question.

---

Meanwhile, aboard a Rebel Command ship, Admiral Ackbar of the Rebel Alliance sat briefing several top rebel leaders.

"We've just received some very troubling news. Two pretty dumb Bothans died to bring us this information, but it is valuable information nonetheless. Jabba the Hutt is planning something big, as is the Empire. We have no choice but to act, and act now! Mobilize as many of your troops as you can spare, we have to go to......."

It is now Day 0
Day 0 will last 48 hours, to allow for everyone to check in

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 0]

Episode I: The Girl With The Dragon Tatooine

DharmaHelper pressed the pause button on the DVD player just as Admiral Ackbar was about to reveal the location of their next mission.

“Wait, this is all wrong. There aren’t any Bothans in the original trilogy! Where did you find this thing Epi?” He turned to face Epignosis, who was lounging on a chair and sipping a mint julip.
“Some guy sold it to me on the street for a really good price, ok?”
“Well if we’re going to show MovingPictures07 what he’s missing we can’t show him this stuff, this isn’t Star Wars!”
DharmaHelper threw the remote to the floor in frustration, and stormed off. He’d asked several of his friends over to his home theatre to finally show MovingPictures07 the Star Wars films (the original trilogy, naturally). Epignosis’ bootleg shenanigans had ruined everything. After a few moments of awkward silence, MovingPictures07 picked up the remote and sighed.
“Well I thought that was pretty cool! I wanna see what happens next. Star Wars rules!” he exclaimed, pressing play on the remote.

“….Tatooine.’ finished Ackbar. And so it was.

It is now Day 1 on Tatooine
While you are on Tatooine, you have the option of selling your vote for credits. The sale of votes will be handled through the hosts. If you would like to sell your vote, please contact BOTH hosts. If your vote is purchased, you will receive a message from your host with the amount of credits you have received. 2. If you sell your vote, I'm the one buying them, and I will give you an amount of credits that I see as fair. You will definitely be well compensated.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 1]

Episode II: Tooine or Tatooine, That is the Question

MovingPictures07 and the rest of the Syndicate movie party watched the bootleg version of Star Wars intently, as the action heated up. While obviously not the “original” trilogy, it was hard to determine whether the changes in the movie they were watching were due to it being a bootleg, or George Lucas’ own mad machinations. For one thing, the special effects were way off, and there was a great deal more Australian accents in this cut of the films.

The opening act at least took place on the same planet as the originals: Tatooine, the home planet of the franchise’s hero Luke Skywalker and his ill-fate Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. The original films revolutionized the hero’s journey, turning a bumbling water farmer into the galaxies most powerful Jedi. For all its faults, this version of the trilogy at least seemed to be adhering to that all important detail. The wonky imagery of Tatooine flickered on the screen as Luke and his family were introduced, and a guy who looked nothing like Mark Hamill joked with his Uncle (in this cut, a man who looked about the same age as Luke) about nerf-herding.

“It’s a good movie so far,” said a2thezebra. “But I can’t help but think something is missing.” The rest of the group quietly nodded in agreement, fixated on the exposition that was being presented. Golden chimed in shortly afterwards.
“Hey, does the cast look familiar to you guys?” Only when he pointed it out did everyone begin to notice that indeed, many of the cast bore striking resemblances to those in attendance.

“That’s totally cool…but also weird. But cool.” said Simon.

“I don’t see it.” Epignosis opined, looking up briefly after checking his abysmal fantasy football scores.

“You’re just mad ‘cuz your guy was one of the dumb Bothans that got killed in like the first three minutes of the movie.” Retorted Simon, sticking his tongue out to drive home his point.

“I just wanna say,” Matt F piped up, raising a hand from the bowl of popcorn he’d been monopolizing. “I think it’s really cool of you guys to invite me back to the Syndicate, and not to have lynched me Day 1 on one of my first games back in a long time.

He was referring of course, to the small game of in-person mafia they had played to warm up for the Star Wars marathon. DharmaHelper had won, naturally, by completely manipulating everyone into an absolute panic over sig, Enrique, and bcornett. Just another example of how amazingly intelligent and talented DharmaHelper was.
“Hey check it out! Matt, the guy that looks like you is on screen. That’s cool!” Eloh pointed at the screen, and sure enough, Matt’s Star Wars doppelganger was in the next scene.

“That’s funny, I don’t remember the Sarlaac Pit this early.”

Deep within the twisting sandy deserts of Tatooine, Matt F did battle with the fearsome Sarlaac! The gnarly, wormlike creature lashed out at the man before it, screeching and hollering its terrible battlecry. But Matt was trained for combat, and trained well. He moved like lightning to avoid the Sarlaac’s attacks, launching a literal volley of his own in response. For a while it seemed as though these two titans would do battle against the backdrop of a John Williams score for eternity, until at last the Sarlaac got a lucky shot in, wrapping one of its wicked tendrils around Matt’s leg. As he screamed in agony, Matt was taken into the mouth of the beast.

“Well,” said Matt F. “At least they got that part right.”

---

Meanwhile, deep within his own madness, DharmaHelper plotted his next move.

"The original trilogy is sacred! They will rue the day they messed with the ORIGINAL TRILOGY!"

Matt F has been lynched
He was Bobba Fett
It is now Night 1 on Tatooine
Night 1 will last 24 hours, during such time you must send BOTH hosts your Nightly PMs.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Night 1]

Episode III - Tatooiney Meeny, Miny, Moe

The Syndicate movie night was in full swing. There was candy, popcorn, and even a few games in between the more drawn out parts of the film. With the departure of the grouchy DharmaHelper, everyone’s spirits seemed to be on the rise. Little did they know that DharmaHelper had not gone away, he’d only been biding his time and waiting for the moment to strike. As the camera panned to an Imperial checkpoint on Tatooine, that time had come.
===

The Prisoner sat in his cell, arms bound and head hung low. A squad of Storm Troopers had caught him snooping around the checkpoint and detained him immediately, pending the arrival of Lord Vader. Once Vader arrived, The Prisoner would no doubt be executed for his crimes against the Empire. His only hope was for a quick and painless death – a luxury not often afforded to the enemies of the Galactic Empire.

From his cell The Prisoner heard the thick metal doors to the outside slide open with a hiss and a spattering of steam, and several more Storm Troopers filed into the small, sand colored dungeon.
Behind them, an imposing figure in black walked calmly, his cloak billowing at his back. The Prisoner recognized this as his judge, jury, and executioner: Darth Vader himself. What Vader was doing on a nothing planet like Tatooine was anyone’s guess, but his presence meant only death for the poor prisoner

===

“Oh come on!” DrWigly said, throwing a kernel of popcorn at the screen. “Vader never goes to Tatooine in the original trilogy. Epignosis this bootleg is awful!”
Epignosis only sunk deeper into his seat, as the angry eyes of his friends bore down upon him in disappointment. Amidst the staring, and some quiet arguing, the rest of the scene played out before them. The Prisoner that had been detained by the Storm Troopers held up bravely against the horrible interrogation administered by Darth Vader, whose face was obscured by his signature mask therefore leaving his actor’s identity a mystery. Just as the scene was getting good, however, the power cut plunging the room into temporary darkness.

“Hey,” remarked Dr. Wigly, looking around with a puzzled expression. “Has anyone seen Matt F since the Bobba Fett scene?”

Sure enough, no one could spot Matt F anywhere. It was as if he’d disappeared entirely from their movie night without as much as a single trace. Oddly enough, no one seemed particularly bothered by this development, as they soon returned to quietly watching the movie. Had they known at the time the significance of Matt’s vanishing act, their reactions would have been much different.
===

In a darkened room resembling a TV police interrogation room, Matt F sat in a simple metal chair looking up at a lone ceiling lamp as it swayed noisily from side to side. He hummed a cheerful tune to himself, clearly bored with his current circumstances. A voice called out from the darkness, and Matt was no longer bored.

“I told them not to mess with the ORIGINAL TRILOGY!” the voice screamed. “Now they’ll pay! And you’re going to help me!”

It is now Day 2 on Tatooine
You have 48 hours to lynch someone

A very friendly reminder that you should expect a game hosted by myself in particular to be stringent on participation scores.

But you're not hosting by yourself.
A game of which I am a host? Is that better?

"A game I am hosting" would have been ideal. No need for a reflexive pronoun, as it creates potential confusion, and "hosted by me" involves a clumsy passive-voice clause.

Ahem.

"I must remind you that you should expect a game I am hosting will be stringent on participation scores. Vote, therefore, ye bitches."
