Endor is actually a lot more appealing when you read the roles and realize we have an Ewok on our side. Maybe it's not so dangerous after all.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 1]

It struck me as pretty odd too. Like, wouldn't it stand to reason that (as somebody pointed out to me earlier) that Jabba would benefit from going to his own lair? I mean, we're just going to a planet, that doesn't mean we'll suddenly find out everything about Team Jabba.

I'm also not really caught up with the thread and I apologize. Shitty day. I'll make an effort tomorrow to get up to speed.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 1]

thats like the biggest nonstory ive seen presented as a case on mafia

tbh i had no idea what "Yavin" was until i read the descriptions, at which point it was a bit of a no-brainer. like really? the place is literally the civvie base where the civvies do cool things in the movies. i DID consider my options (tattooine, endor) up until i found out about yavin. but then when it looked so good, surely i was missing something that kept people away from it? nobody gave it any consideration so i just put it down to lack of familiarity and went ahead and voted.

like i dont even understand what the baddie logic behind anything there would be.

i disagree about there being any nervousness or inconsistencies in my voting. i considered some options, found one that actually managed to look appealing, and went for it.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 1]

Oh jeez. OK, here's my issue with this whole thing: everyone's talking as if I didn't provide any reason for my vote when I did, from the beginning! I'm on mobile right now so finding it is a bit of a hassle, I'm gonna get on my laptop ASAP and quote the post because really it isn't hard to find. From my first mention of Yavin, before I voted for it, I mentioned what a blatant civvie option it looked like. Mac went on to press me as to why I hadn't voted for it yet, and I said hey I don't know why nobody else has. There's not much to that beyond me making up my mind.

I'm reading the whole thread but honestly I'm not very good at absorbing things from mobile, so I have very little to comment on right now. I will be back with my thoughts on some more things not directly related to me. This whole argument is just silly. I shouldn't have to defend myself here.

The Hutts aren't independent and are based on Tattooine so I find this interesting.
Yeah that seemed really obvious once somebody pointed it out. To be fair, when I think of Tattooine I always associate it with those raider shits stealing the droids, Anakin coming back to kill them, etc. I haven't watched a Star Wars film since I was 10, and though yes I know the Hutts are based there, it just kinda went over my head when I made that post.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 1]

I think there's a bit much attention on me trying to make up my mind for Day 0. I looked at Tattoine, I looked at Endor. For Endor I looked both ways, and even the Tattooine question wasn't a lot more than "wouldn't this benefit independents? What's the deal with them?"

Maybe I didn't lay out my whole thought process, but I commented on what I found worth commenting. Tattooine got a bunch of votes, and I doubt all of them stopped to consider "wait, isn't that where Jabba is based?"

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 1]

I'm not even all that busy, but I do feel slightly overwhelmed by the size of this game. I've read pretty much everything as it was posted, but a lot of it has just straight flown over my head, and I'm especially having trouble keeping track of who says what. MP makes a good point that I'm not offering much of anything right now, and he's completely right, I'm still adjusting to the pace. I appreciate Zebra's ISOs/GTHs (I have no idea what those acronyms mean but she keeps using them so one of them is probably right and I have a slightly better grasp on the game after reading them.

So a few quick thoughts (MP made a post with a bunch of different points to address but oh jeez give me a few minutes to even feel like reading it):

sig approached my Tattooine posts from two completely different angles before and after people were talking about it. His original response was:
It could also favor the Hutts, but we might just be overthinking it.
So it stands that he doesn't think my question is too out there and he's being helpful, suggesting that maybe we're just oblivious, right? Then Mac calls me scum, then this happens:
sig wrote:I don't think enrique vote for Yavin is suspicious.
Though this
Enrique wrote:I think Tattooine, in the worst case scenario, would favor the Independents. Do we know what their win conditions are yet?
The Hutts aren't independent and are based on Tattooine so I find this interesting.
Bro... you had my back... just a minute ago. If you found it straight sus from the beginning, then fair enough, but how do you go and pull a 180 the moment somebody else mentions my name? Now, his post is not especially accusatory, he's very careful with his words ("I find this interesting") but the implication is right there and it bothers me that he was so quick to jump on it like that.

One more thing I'm not all that comfortable with is the "let's go to the baddie option to find out their plans" rhetoric. Like, um, excuse me? That's never been a thing like that in Mafia, has there? Or at least I don't remember it from my days. The baddie option benefits the baddies and that's that. Matt's push for the Death Star was especially disconcerting, but my first real "what the fuck did he just say that" moment was when Russ suggested Tattooine was a good option "to find out Jabba's plans." Huh? It's hard to think a Hutt would be so upfront about wanting to go to Jabba's lair, but I certainly didn't read that and think "damn, Russ, that's some fine civvie logic!" There's many valid reasons why people might've voted Tattooine, the one I remember reading the most being "because that's where the movies started," but jeez how do you expect me to trust someone whose vote is founded on it being the baddie option?

This is also a thing that gets me, about people voting Alderaan because "it sounds the nicest." What the fuck, dude, maybe it's more exciting or something, but people complained there wasn't a single bad thing to say about Yavin and you vote for a planet that's only famous for blowing up and killing everyone in it? Day 0 logic is some weird shit.

Oh yeah and Matt definitely had some sort of info. He was pushing it so far down our throats I can't even tell what his goal was, and he can keep denying it but he definitely knew something or he wouldn't have been so damn persistent. It's not like anyone was going to forget after the day was over. There had to be a reason.

Okay, wowie, now to figure everything else out and stop skimming the longer posts.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 1]

MovingPictures, I'm gonna be honest, your post is a bit of a nightmare to read, never mind quote. Even your response to Mac is harsh on the eyes. I'm not saying I'm the best formatter, but... enough about that, let's actually address the content:
I'm still lost as to bcornett24's post here. Can either he or someone explain to me why this is a very anti-town statement?
This post of Enrique's actually pings me a bit because he immediately expresses agreement with bcornett that he found it pretty odd, yet doesn't indicate any gut evaluation of Russ from it; nor did he mention this earlier when I wanted opinions on Russ.
I barely understand anything in this game, and that post still jumped out at me. It kinda baffles me that you refuse to see it. Nothing about Russ' post reads "civvie" in any way to me. It's just plain confusing. My gut evaluation is that he tried to get away with shitty logic because it fit his agenda, whatever that may be.

I'm sorry I didn't reply to your specific post asking about Russ. Honestly I didn't even remember making my post until I saw somebody else quote it. I'm somewhere else at the moment. I'm keeping up by reading the thread but I'm not digesting this game like I should.

I'm not sold on any of your responses to Mac either. Everything he's accusing you of doing, you're doing right there, and I tend to agree with points such as you not trying to bring it too hard on Russ especially when you're still turning a blind eye to the part of his post that bothers everyone else.

I don't like this post at all. Maybe I'm just biased against all those spoiler tags but I'm not too impressed by the content either. It's like you made it intentionally hard to read. (or maybe i'll feel better about it when i pick up by adhd prescription tomorrow, ahh)
Now, the fact that Enrique didn't explain that until subsequent to your case is another story.
Enrique, all of this seems rather dismissive. Regarding the underlined, why shouldn't you have to defend yourself? Isn't that the point of mafia to accuse others and be accused, no matter what the accusation?
No, see, that's the thing. I never felt like there was anything to defend in my vote at all. I still think it's a silly thing to focus on. I voted for what I perceived as the civvie option. That's my whole explanation! What else did you want me to say before Mac made his accusations? I don't get it.
zebra, I'm a bit confused on this post's relation to your two posts previous. You were discussing how to hunt for the Boba Fett with Simon, then you said to give you a few minutes, and you came up with this. How does this relate to that conversation? (or does it not at all?)
This is another silly thing to pick on. I see a lot of resistance to Zebra's ISOs, but why wouldn't you add that to the conversation? It's incredibly convenient and helpful, and I'm pretty sure I've done stuff like that before simply because it's an useful tool. I appreciate it for sure.

I don't know, Alex. IIRC I've been really bad at reading you in the past, but as for this game right now, I don't trust you. Nothing you're saying feels right to me and I'm definitely gonna keep an eye out.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 1]

MP, I think it was a combination of the copious spoiler tags, quotes, and colored responses. All I know is that last night I found it impossible to read. I don't usually have that problem so maybe it was all on my end, but man I am not kidding it made my head hurt.

I think Matt denying any Death Star intel is just him backpedaling. I mean, seriously, nobody was ever gonna forget how badly he pushed for it.

Let me explain the Russ thing to you (I sort of already did but this is more to the point): his idea to vote for Tattooine to find out Jabba's plans sounds absolutely insane and like total bullshit, like a really poorly thought excuse to justify his vote. Knowing Tattooine is a base for everyone but the civvies, you choose to go there? Even Death Star voters didn't try to validate their vote with "we can find some stuff out," it just strikes me as complete nonsense reasoning.

I specifically had some issues with your responses to Mac (I might get to that later, can't remember specifics), your reluctance to understand what's wrong with Russ, and mostly I was annoyed that post was so much trouble for practically nothing I could agree with. Maybe it's a playstyle thing. Maybe we have different perspectives based on in-game factors. I have no clue, but the point is, we're not currently on the same wavelength. It's something I find happens a lot before my instincts really kick in. I'm more inclined to trust some people over others (I don't think I've EVER thought of Canuck as a baddie. I kept telling my team in Monty Python she was the last civvie. I'm still not over that betrayal of trust).

MP, BR, and Dom (I'm still waiting for him to throw his hat in this one :p) are players that I remember having trouble seeing eye to eye with in my last few games. They absolutely got me in Dr. Who (probably my worst mafia performance ever tbh), but even then it just seemed like a rehash of Monty Python.

Also, Black Rock. I remember a huuuge deal being made out my defending myself in Monty Python, where yes I did flip bad, but let me remind you that I was a converted baddie for a grand total of one day phase before I got killed :p (that was the worst tbh, my role had extra lives and people actually tried to night kill me at every opportunity!)

I'm gonna vote for Russ. Nothing he has said in the thread has read to me as anything but scum-minded.

linki- Golden v Mac v Zebra looks like a civvie free-for-all to me. I think a link could possibly be drawn between you and Russ (I don't care for all the WIFOM in your weak pursuit of him and his sarcastic "distancing" comment), but yeah that's not very convincing.

Brian looks good to me as well. Matt is a dirty dirty liar and he should come clean. That's off the top of my head right now. Most everyone I know is acting like their normal selves.

Well, kind of? I mean, if you didn't play MP, then (before this game) you couldn't have played with me as a civvie since Piano was a thing, and I was already semi-retired by the time the site died. Whatever it was it was damn creepy.

My guess is it has something to do with the Imperial secret roles? IIRC Palpatine tempts Anakin with the ability to "cheat death" through the Dark Side of the Force, which fits right into Vader and Sidious' secret roles. Then there's the issue that they failed to kill tonight, maybe meaning they could only use one power or the other?

Speculation: The Empire can recruit deadies into their BTSC for... some purpose, but that would explain the "And you're going to help me!" in the post.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 2]

Sig, this is gonna sound like bullshit, but I definitely misread one of your Day 1 posts as saying that I was looking less Mafia to you, not more. So when I saw you'd voted for me hell yeah I was surprised. I'm sorry if "two faced" came across as an insult, I'm not that petty :p (and really this is a game where we call each other "scum" all the time). But from an in-game perspective that's exactly what it would've been. I take it back now. You were consistent (ly misguided) when talking about me. I was looking at it wrong.

Zeeb is doing a fine interrogation job with Roxy, I must say. The fact that she's trying to justify her vote for Matt, which she originally said was random... doesn't bode very well. Zebra showcases Roxy's other attempts at misrepresenting her, such as the tons of excuses and guns blazing against Golden. I think Roxy is looking very worthy of some eyes here.

A few scattered thoughts:

I've found myself agreeing with BC and Golden a lot so far. Like I was talking with Alex earlier, maybe it's a playstyle thing, maybe it comes from a shared perspective, I can't know for sure. But for now I'm inclined to trust them.

I don't want to let Russ off the hook, but you know what I suspect? That he's indie. I don't think a Hutt would immediately come into the thread and publicly link his name to the team right now. If you're a Hutt and one of your first posts is bullshit logic about why you want to go to Jabba's palace (or wherever the hell he lives), then that's just extremely silly and way risky. And despite that, I can't make myself believe him! I'm convinced there was an ulterior motive there, the original reasoning didn't quite cut it in the first place and his subsequent posts have read a lot like bullshit to me. Give me a bit and I'll deliver on some troublesome ideas he's had.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 2]

Okay, whether Russ is indie or bad I don't know. I don't think he's up to any good, regardless.
Russtifinko wrote:Ok, so for the srs bsns I promised:

1) Voting Tatooine. Less for movie reasons and more because if we want info about Jabba's plans and our operatives found his plans in his palace, it makes sense to think his palace is a good place to start the search.

2) DDL, I can't decide whether it's civ-ish or a baddie move to run through all the possible ways you'd catch a baddie based on the planet mechanic before we get a chance to actually use any of the methods. Consider me slightly pinged, there.
This is the controversial first post that got people talking about him in the first place. We've already gone over how problematic the first point is, but the first time this post was brought to attention was in regards to the second point. I'm talking about MP's infamous softball.

I want everyone to discuss this.

How are these two statements compatible?
Reading this whole thing over again FINALLY allowed me to understand what was happening  Russ and Zebra both look at DDL thinking "well, that's one way to appear civvie, but revealing this in the thread only helps the baddies avoid falling into that pattern." See, my problem with this would be the fact that the knowledge would be more useful to the baddies in their BTSC than sharing it with the thread, but this is caked under so many layers of WIFOM I won't bother making and argument for or against it. It just is.

Then there's this:
zebra, I'm actually NOT pinged by DDL's logic here. He's right - if Tarkin chose one planet that gets blown up, the baddies know which one it is, so you can be damned sure they'll avoid voting last at that planet and only that planet. The rest of us will try not to vote last on EVERY planet. So if DDL hadn't said anything, we could've looked hindsight to see if anyone who normally votes late voted early on the day the planet blew up.

What pinged me was that he blew this angle by explaining it, and then went hyper-meta with it. And I'm also slightly pinged that you were so quick to join me here, but with a different point.
"That pings me, this pings me." This confuses me, because as far as I can tell, that's Zebra's main issue with DDL as well. Yet he's playing it as if sharing that opinion is a bad thing?
a2thezebra wrote:I've never played with him before (either that or it's been far too long) so does he normally make a suggestion and then proceed to shoot down that very suggestion in the same post?
Yeah, right? As far as I can tell, all Zebra did was agree with him. I don't think she had a problem with DDL's logic as much as she just didn't understand it, and that's very fair, but it was not her issue.

It looks to me like you are scum and you are day 1 distancing a scum teammate. Your case on him has all the hallmarks of it. You have confirmation bias when it comes to his posts.

His (Enrique's) response to bcornett's Russtifinko suspicion looks genuine and should Russ be scum, he would not be in my opinion.
Mac, c'mon, man. You can't say twice that I look really civ to you and then give two examples where you'll be sure of someone's alignment if I flip bad. You're setting me up for one of your "I don't think he's bad but we should kill him anyway" lynches.
Russ really doesn't like having friends in this game. Pings all over the place, especially for the people vouching for him. Not a word on MP and his softball, however. (Keeping in mind this whole discussion came from the post MP first pointed out, but not from the "civ-ish or baddie vs slightly pinged" aspect that MP focused on the entire time).

Then this happens? His first ever mention of MP.
Russtifinko wrote:Late night at work and I have to Skype the fiancee about our Seattle trip that starts tomorrow. Sorry for the flyby vote.

Going with MP, because he's bad to the bone. :srsnod:

How's that for baddie distancing, Mac?
Huh? That's a nice WIFOM covered in sarcastic orange but I don't understand the point of this vote.

An elaboration when you have the opportunity would be nice, Russ.
Not much to it, really. You're a troublesome sort, and it's a Day 1 vote. I had like 3 minutes and didn't know if I'd be back before the deadline.

For what it's worth, Enrique looks worse than Matt to me. But if I'm being honest, that's probably almost entirely because he voted me and Matt didn't, so my thoughts there might not be worth much.

Linki: Sorry Matt!
"No reason!"
MovingPictures07 wrote:Oh, okay, fair enough I suppose. Let me know if you have any concerns that I can address.
"Fair enough!"

Wait, what? What the hell is this interaction? Am I missing something?

No, seriously. What? Everything about the way they play it off confuses me. "How's that for baddie distancing?" It's so in-your-face I almost have trouble believing it happened. I would have bought a scenario where Russ was trying to get MP's name linked to him, but then MP is just like "hmm, okay!" and I just have no idea of anything anymore.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 2]

Golden, the proposed BTSC pairing would be MP and Russ, not me. I think there's a lot pointing towards something going on there, but I'm also hesitant to say they're in a team because if they are then every move related to each other has been so sloppy. It shouldn't be this easy to draw connections, and they should know better than that. The way they interact with each other is so bizarre.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 2]

MP, keep in mind I was making a post about Russ. I cut the quote because that part wouldn't be relevant until Russ answered. I don't understand the misrepresentation here anyway? You're completely letting his vote slide, and so casually. The second part is still important, but don't tell me you don't find everything before that weird as shit. His vote didn't seem to serve any purpose other than to stir shit. Just go over his post and tell me how many times he has directly mentioned you. But he has read the thread and he knows that your names are often brought up together. There are no good intentions behind "How's that for baddie distancing?".

As I've stated, my post was about Russ. Everything seemed off on his end, and I even thought he might be trying to link your names for his own convenience, but you just going "Aight!" on his out of nowhere bullshit vote made me do a little more than just raise an eyebrow and I think it definitely was worth pointing out.

This is in no way comparable to Mac and I on Day 1. Those were completely unintelligible accusations against me, that I still have no idea how anyone expected me to defend (and to be perfectly honest, was not expecting to come up again at all after that exchange was done).

Before going into questioning mode, MP, what do you think about Russ voting for you? Why do you think he did it? And why hasn't he answered you? Where is he now?

I don't know what you mean here, but as for something you said before. "Not all BTSC is made equal." Were you talking about Greedo? Because that's the only slightly exceptional thing I could find.

I think it's unlikely for Russ to be a Hutt tbh. Being so blunt about wanting to go to Jabba's palace from the start would've been a really silly move if he was. Can you elaborate on what you think is happening there?

Alright so hopefully I'll live long enough to get an explanation.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 2]

@sig: I think it's funny and don't understand what's so pingy about it. I don't think baddie teams usually orchestrate the wording of their votes to coincide.

I'll most likely end up voting to save myself today. While ideally I'd vote for Russ, Roxy and especially Bass are looking like my most likely competition. I've already briefly explained my thoughts on Roxy (her trying to justify "a random vote" for Matt by citing Zeeb's posts looks BAD), so I wouldn't mind the lynch going that direction too much. As for Bass, I've only played with him once before (when he was bad), and while he's acting pretty much the same way in this game, I don't feel like I know him well enough to tell his civvie and baddie games apart. Earlier he was giving lengthier responses to his accusations than what I remember, so good on him.

linki- well ok no

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 2]

Low posting is generally seen as unhelpful and scummy. I take no issue with Zebra's GTH on them.

She was upset because Golden gave up on your lynch so easily. I think you're also kinda overstating her reaction, getting Matt was a good thing but it's not especially helpful information.

She's a she.

I don't want to vote for Bass... when he talks about "when I flip civ" I believe he's being genuine. I'll still vote to save myself because I can only be certain of my role, but still, I'd much rather see Roxy get the noose today.
