Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 0]

Tatooine Reached hive of scum and evil, kinda like New Jersey. Also home to the Tusken Raiders, Jawas, and Hut
ts.
Endor Home of the warmongering teddy bear.
Yavin IV Rebel base in a jungle.
Hoth Second rebel base in a cold barren country, were Luke got his face cut up.
Dagobah = Florida
Alderaan = BOOM
Cloud City huge mining planet, home of Lando and were Luke got his hand cut off and Han got turned to stone
Death Star + Alderaan x BOOM = No more planet

I'll be going to Dagobah, Death Star, Cloud City, or Hoth.

Something interesting about Tatoonie

"Nomads from Tatooine, the sand people want to be left alone in peace, but will use violence to attain that outcome. *Secrets*"
Not much to go on, but if we visit a planet each night perhaps Tatoonie will allow the Tusken Raiders to kill someone, thoughts on this?

Hmm :smoky:

I suppose if someone dies because of that role, we could try to look at vote patterns and see if there was someone deliberately avoiding the last vote. Or someone who failed to vote despite being active...
I think this could easily be a tool used by the mafia and is in fact more likely to be used by them. Why would anyone want to risk dying by voting last I don't understand how avoiding voting last makes you more likely to be scum. Could you explain why you think this might be the case?

Okay haven't read up on the thread but Enrique I still don't think it is lynch worthy, but I did find it interesting, know it is interesting not just for your case, but more so for other people. If you have knowledge of the Star Wars lore it would make sense for the Hutts to try and get us to go to their planet. I think we had two Hutt members voting for their planet.

I wouldn't be willing to lynch anyone based off of what planet they picked, I think voting to lynch someone based around that won't be very helpful at all.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 1]

Okay I'm here, this day has been quite active but read wise I don't have much.
Matt wanting to go to the Death Star isn't strange to me, and I think he makes a good point about MP and Aldeeran. I do think some of the Tatooine voters are the Hutts, without any information it would make sense to think the Hutts have power on Tatoonie. Also if we look at the two indy teams they might not be town friendly at all. So even a planet favoring the independents might not be good, Especially if it favors the Raiders.

I'm reading Zebra as civ and I've got Wilgy as a slight mafia read. Besides that I think today has had more civ vs civs arguments and the mafia players are lying low.

Know here are some things.
Simon wrote:I'm here. I see there are a lot of players who aren't talking like me. I think it would be good to find and lynch Boba Fett because he can kill any night. We need to make sure he doesn't survive. :srsnod:
The civ points you got for killing your sister in mine craft are gone you're neutral again since honestly Boba Fett is the coolest character know that the EU is gone. :P

So I don't find Independent hunting to be a scum tell necessary , but this early in the game it is better to hunt mafia this is a slight ping but not lynch worthy, Simon how many mafia games have you played before?

Also this
Boba Fett
Boba Fett, the famous bounty hunter, will eliminate competition...if the price is right. He has a kill, but he must accept a contract to use it. Bidders may bid each Night through the hosts. If Fett accepts an offer, he will see to it that the requested target is dead, whether by lynch or kill. He cannot be paid until it is. If the bidder does not have the credits on hand to pay Boba Fett when the job is finished, the bidder must vote as Fett demands until the debt is paid.

From reading this I assumed Fett only had one kill.

@Hosts can you confirm how many kills Fett has?
Glorfindel wrote:I've got to tell you guys, I feel so far out of my depth right now. From my limited experience, what passes for evidence this early on in Mafia games is often little more than a combination of bravado and overactive imagination. All I can see is some particularly harsh accusations being thrown around by some VERY enthusiastic players. I have been around long enough not to mistake aggressiveness in these games with Mafia guilt so a couple of feuding prominent players (at this stage of the game) doesn't convince me that one is necessarily Mafia. From what I've read, Golden seems to make a lot of sense to me
Don't be so humble Glorfindel you've played a good amount of mafia games I doubt you only have limited experience. Also what do you mean by Mafia guilt?

The Hutts aren't independent and are based on Tattooine so I find this interesting.
2 days after sig quotes this statement the first time, he suddenly finds it "interesting". This is after Enrique is already taking suspicion from others for the Yavin thing.

sig - Why wasn't it interesting the first time you quoted Enrique? It only became interesting after Enrique was getting looks?
I didn't suddenly find it interesting I gave it more thought, in my first post I mentioned the Hutts, but didn't put to much thought into it reading back I found it strange this was ignored especially considering the Hutts were in the write up.
So I can't really say much for this I just found it interesting. I voted for Hoth since I wanted to and it was the least likely to have a negative impact on the civs, though that was a minor thought I mainly voted for it since I wanted to.

So still not sure who to vote for if I don't see any major pings at this point so I'll be holding my vote for the time, though the more I think about Enrique the less I like his posts. I'd like other players thoughts on this.

We should ask them. Russ, are you Boba Fett?
I'm still curious as to why Russ was singled out here. There are many possibilities, but I am not waiting for Simon to clarify to finish these damn ISO analyses right now, so even though a clarification could easily change it, my current GTH of Simon based on this post alone is:

SCUM
I interrupt your Simon suspicions to remind you that Simon is eight years old. :D Thank you for listening.

I'm not voting anyone who has been contributing a lot b/c as I have said before, I think the majority of the baddies are lying low.

sig, why is this?

Also, what is your gut evaluation of Glorfindel? You know him, so I'd imagine you have some different input than the rest of us would have.
It is partly a gut read and as I said the more I think about his Poll 0 vote and his reasons for voting as well as his posts in general the more suspicious I become. He seemed to aggressively defend himself when I mentioned the Hutts and said it was interesting which is making me wonder if I struck a little to close to the mark. His posts seem slightly panicky and off.
It isn't much to go on but after rereading his post I will be placing my vote on Enrique.
Glorfindel is null to me right know. His posts are the same as they usually are Day 1 and I do think he is slightly overwhelmed, but I don't see any big civ/scum tells. Though I would like him to answer my questions.

Of those only 2 have actually read the thread. There has been little to no activity from Dom (5), Roxy (7), Glorfindel (13), nijuukyugou (15), or Sorsha (22).
So that brings me to my next point. Elo said yesterday she believed most mafiosos were among lurkers.
I'm sorry but an assertion like this is borderline absurd. I've yet to play in a Mafia game yet where this happened. This is without much doubt one of the lamest attempts at diverting attention to somewhat hapless new players I've seen. Sure, we're a little disoriented playing with people and rules with which we are largely unfamiliar and it's easy to make us look guilty. I'd be really surprised if any of the experienced non-Mafia players here would take any of this seriously and further, it REALLY does little for the credibility of the person making such assertions.
Okay looking at Brian's post out of these seven almost all are null. I'm thinking Golden isn't mafia, but besides that nothing from this list. I think we do have at least one or two mafia member here and I do agree with Dragon these players have had little activity, but this also seems like Dragon is trying to get us to focus on those who haven't posted at all, and this is a good way to lynch civs who are easy lynches and won't attract attention to those who pushed for there lynch if they flip civ.

I'm tone reading Roxy post's as slight civ, I also am unsure if a mafia Roxy would actually say her vote was decided at random. This puts the spotlight on her and I think a mafia Roxy would be less likely to do this and would instead come up with a different reason.

I would at this point rather not lynch a Matt voter based only around the argument that they are lurking.

I could lynch Enrique again today as my opinion of them hasn't changed and in fact him calling me two faced makes me more suspicious of him.
I would like other players opinions on Enrique.

2) DDL, I can't decide whether it's civ-ish or a baddie move to run through all the possible ways you'd catch a baddie based on the planet mechanic before we get a chance to actually use any of the methods. Consider me slightly pinged, there.
I'm rather confused why the focus of the conversation happens to be on the 2nd statement russ made here and not the first. I would encourage everybody to read the statement in red. To me this comes across as a scum hunting for third party players (or vise-versa).

I find this to be a very anti-town statement. What does everybody else think?
I agree with Brian here Russ post does seem strange, he pursues this some and then says Russ doesn't have enough content.

I agree with this dropping in and voting, I don't like it and I find Golden defending Bubbles to be interesting. It seems like Bubbles glanced over the thread and picked a player who could be bandwagoned and had generated a fair amount of conversation. I think especially with the current level of activity lynching Zebra would be bad, and the current people voting for her have all been lowish posters. Finally out of all the players who voted Bass why zebra?

bcornett24 null leaning civ

Bubbles
Bubbles only has three posts so not much to go on. She votes for Alderaan and is then afk until night 1 and then afk again until yesterday. This leaves me null.
Quick question is it more likely for a Civ Bubbles or for a Scum Bubbles to be inactive?
Know for her posts.
Bubbles wrote:/slips in through the back door :P

SO glad Matt turned out to be a baddie, I was still reading through the thread when the poll closed which is why I didn't vote, for what's worth i probably would've voted Matt too, not for the death star vote which seemed innocent enough (it DID sound like a cool option), but for his saying golden wasn't arguing with people yet and also because he looked like he was trying to move the conservation towards specific people eg. the people who voted Alderaan (yes including me)
and Enrico sounds sincere to me so I don't really agree with the suspicion on him. his comment about sig being two faced triggered some alarm bells though
anyway hope to see you next game Matt
So first thing that is slightly pingy is her calling Matt a baddie true he wasn't pro civ, but he wasn't a baddie. This is only a slight ping though.
Says she would've voted for Matt this comment is null since Matt was an Independent and not a member of someones team.
She thinks Enrique sounds sincere but gives herself some room to vote for him if needed.

This post leaves me with Bubbles being null but slightly pinged.
Bubbles wrote:voting zebra for voting bass, and because i don't think enrique is bad from his tone. and i don't want to miss another vote so that's why i'm posting now!
This goes along with her thoughts on Enrique though doesn't help or hurt my read of her. Missing another vote is a good reason as any, but I don't her vote. It could be she just dropped in and voted noticed Zebras name being thrown around and voted like that. This vote is still pingy especially since Zebra is know leading vote wise.

Bubbles Null
She doesn't have enough post for me to get a clear read on, but from her few posts I've got a null read with a few negative pings. I wouldn't want to lynch her today, but would like to see more posts from her.

Black Rock

Do you still think Enrique is scum, if so why?

She has a good amount of posts, but nothing that sticks out as scummy/civvie, this makes me slightly wary of her.
She does bring up an interesting point about Sorsha, Bk what is your current read on Sorsha? Do you have anything else besides your post about her for why she might be bad?
Also what do you think of the Zebra voters and would you vote for Zebra yourself why or why not?

Black Rock Null

I'll continue this later, out of these I haven't read anything that really stick out. I will do a more detailed read over of Enrique, but I won't be voting for Zebra today and would place my vote to save her. For the time I've gotta go, but I'll be back this afternoon.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 3]

My very brief ISO's took forever so I'm not doing them for everyone. :P

After reading through Golden's post I still believe he isn't mafia.
Wilgy, not much to go on from him which is slightly pingy.
@Wilgy how about some reads? Who do you think is scum and who do you think is clean. Why?

Floyd no content expecting some post soon.
Luke as I've said I've only seen Luke's scum game, right know his minimum posting as well as his reason for voting Enrique reminds me of the scum games I've played with him. He will vote high profile players, but not his own teammates. He was also smart in respect to the poisoning, if Enrique was poisoned I could see Luke being on that team. He is a slight mafia read to me.

DFaraday is null.
You voted for Roxy earlier this game what do you think of her know?

@Elohcin Am I correct in saying your voting Zebra since you think her vote on Bass was fake? What do you think about the other Bass voters then? Also what are some of your other reads?

Does Alderaan have any special ability like Tatoonie? I don't recall seeing one but I might have missed it.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 3]

I believe the Grand Moff's role works that whoever votes last regardless of which planet they picked will die.
DrWilgy wrote:Just browsing recent. Still not caught up so these reads are probably outdated. The struggle is real.
-I'm tone reading you as scum Sig.
-Roxy I read as scum, but I have noticed that I accidentally and incorrectly read her a scummy quite often.
-I'm intrigued by DFaraday.
-Mac I'm reading as civ. He is completely different than what he was in Talking Heads.
Funnily enough I'm reading you as scum also, which is why I'm trying to get more posts out of you so you just don't glide to end game. I wonder are you just reading me as scum since I voiced suspicion of you?

I've only played a few games with Glor, but a few of his posts have just been weird. Not something I would pursue right know but something that I think is worth pointing out.
@Glorfindel my question was about a specific post of yours were you mentioned mafia guilt here is the quote it isn't much of a question but seeing how you didn't answer it I was pinged and I really do want an answer.

Enrique, do you suspect zebra and/or sig?
I think everyone's just misunderstanding each other here. I thought Enrique was bad because he seemed to be giving the impression that he was good because he was poisoned (without directly saying it, as I mainly got this impression from how others reacted to it) but I no longer think that. And I think Enrique and others are misreading sig. Most of the time when players repeat others' opinions I'm pinged by it when sig does it, I think that's his way of just letting others know which opinions he agrees with.
I think Enrique thought I said I didn't find them suspicious at a point when I said he was suspicious, this caused confusion and his response made me think he was more likely to be mafia. His last few posts as well as Luke's vote on him means I won't be voting for him today. I think I was slightly tunnely and as I said his most recent posts seem civvie. So I at least view him as neutral atm.
MovingPictures07 wrote:Although I felt bcornett's push on Bubbles was opportunistic...

Banana, Luke, and Mishimeals have contributed absolutely (or practically) nothing. Floyd is there too.

What do you propose we do about attempting to evaluate the aforementioned players? They're perpetually in my orange area because I can't move them anywhere. At least Bubbles and DFaraday are posting reads, so I'm OK with them for now; I just don't feel a change is warranted.
MP What do you think of Luke's vote on Enrique?

I will need to read over Bcornett again when I ISO him he seemed civvie to me, but not answering Golden and just voting without making a post is pingy.
What is the argument for a Bcornett lynch?

I've been getting a weird gut feeling of Glorfindel this game, some of his posts have been pingy and he seems to be playing slightly differently then normal. Not sure if that is because he is with new players or what, but I could lynch him today, especially over zebra.

@Wilgy looking back I think I only mentioned you once or twice but in said posts I said you pinged me.
Wilgy who do you plan to vote for today and why?

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 3]

True Luke has only played two games

It is more tone based, he is mentioning how he is helping alot more, doesn't seem to be making as many concrete reads as he usually does. Also in my opinion he seems to be minimizing his own mafia experience and I'm not sure why that is. His vote on Russ seems odd and his follow up post interacting with Enrique. His vote also came at a critical time and he voted for a third candidate who has no votes.

This isn't much and could be since he is around new people, but I've got a bad gut read of him right know.

linki: Luke is actually playing but his vote pinged me. If Luke is mafia we won't be getting much from him regardless I'm unsure about his civ play, but at least as scum he posted enough to be noticed, but not enough to slip up.

Okay I must be off, I will be voting for Glorfindel today, he is still more suspicious to me then Bcornett. However, I wouldn't oppose a Bcornett lynch at this point.

Yeah I don't wanna vote for myself if something bad will happen to me.

I find Enrique saying I was scum to be interesting especially since he said earlier he didn't think I was scum. This is slightly pingy.
Also good job on Bcornett two of his teammates knew who he was, and one didn't.
Welcome back Matt/Bass are you two scum this time around?

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Night 3]

Sounds good I'll be voting MM since he voted me the rest are open slots.

So Simon came in last minute and attempted to save bcornett24, this would have worked if MM hadn't have voted. This makes me thing a Simon lynch could work tomorrow thoughts on this, he also voted for Bass over Enrique causing the Bass lynch.

I'll ISO bcornett24 myself later, though I think Zebra mainly covered it all.

linki: I think Simon could be mafia as I said above mainly since he voted to save Bcornett, and almost did. He also voted and saved Enrique and causing the Bass lynch.
I'm thinking right know at the very least Enrique is on bcornett's team, but a good chance Simon is to.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Night 3]

We could vote for Simon tomorrow and while that wouldn't be bad I'd rather vote for Enrique. I think mac brought up some good posts, but also enrique seems like he is trying to guilt us not to vote for him since he was poisoned, first off he might not have been poisoned and second even if he is it doesn't stop his suspicious behavior.

I agree I think either a Simon lynch or a Enrique lynch will benefit us tomorrow.

The only game I've seen with this scum BTSC setup was the Dune game. In that game when a certain teammate was lynched/killed the one outside the BTSC was let in. So in that game when I was cruelly lynched through no fault of my own, TH came into our chat. So in theory starting this phase Greedo could've been added to their chat.

Another point on Enrique, he was very confident that the person who poisoned him was an independent. This would explain if he is a Hutt why he is confident that he wasn't poisoned by them, or this could've been a joint effort to get Russ lynched for whatever reason.

Re: STAR WARS Mafia [Day 4]

I like Duran Duran almost as good as Kansas and much better then Rush.

So the Empire didn't kill night 1, either they used another power or were inactive. Does anyone else find it interesting that when two active players replaces two inactive players the Empire kills?

This isn't vote worthy of course today I'll be most likely voting for either Enrique or Simon, even so I think it is worth discussing.
