Re: [NIGHT 6] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts
Hey everyone, what's shakin'? I see you haven't caught the Warden last Day either. that's too bad.
I wanted to tell you that I'm doing fine and life on the outside is pretty neat. I'm trying to get back on track and make up for the crimes I committed, however petty they were. I rented an apartment downtown and check with my probation officer, a certain lt. Sock, twice a week. He's impressed with my progress and seems to have great faith in me. He's friendly and sometimes raises his pint at me, like so , but I say no thanks. And then he asks How 'bout a shot of Lagavulin, to which I say Ok thanks.
I don't have yet a stable job, but I guess I should work on that asap. There's an opening at the cafeteria near my place, but I'm afraid I can't even make a decent omelette. My new place isn't much right now, but it's far better than a prison mattress, on which you'd spend near sleepless nights, because the Warden would play rodeo songs in the speaker to torture us to no end. This morning I had my cup of Joe looking out the window and I saw a girl at the crossroad in front of my block, headbanging to music on huge white headphones and then suddenly flipping the bird at someone, which was confusing. Did a driver honk at her or something? I couldn't hear. Then I saw her meet up with some friends on the other side of the street. I guess that makes sense. No wait it doe-
I sometimes think of going to visit Long Con's grave. I haven't been able to say this in the game, but he helped us a lot to achieve our break, by having some outside knowledge of the world and how certain people speak or behave, unlike most of us, and it's sad that got himself punished. Today I saw some flowers at the grocery. It made me realize that it's spring right now and the trees are blossoming and goddamnit I'll get in trouble soon cuz I'm allergic to polen, aren't I? My point being that it was cold and lifeless when I got jailed and now it's looking like a whole new world. And it sort of makes me think of my own possible renaissance. This morning, whilst I was checking my mailbox, for any new sign-up replies I might have received (there were none, sadly), a neighbour girl did the same and then smiled at me as she then left the building. Should I ask her out?
Anyway, take care, yall and get that Warden, will ya, so I can then [REDACTED - YOU HAVEN'T SKIPPED ANGER MANAGEMENT CLASS YESTERDAY, RIGHT? - lt. SOCK]"

Re: [NIGHT 7] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts
Hey everyone.
Did you happen to see lt. Sock lately? I haven't heard from him in two days. Gee, I hope that won't affect my parole conditions. It's not my fault if he's off to Malibu on weekends or something. Meanwhile I spent the past days tidying up my new apartment. The previous owners just took all their belongings and left the place empty and, frankly, quite dirty. I bought this Mr. Proper floor polish that's supposed to smell like purple lime, but you know what... it actually smells like crap. Purple lime, what the hell is this even supposed to be?! Anyway, I mopped every room in the apartment twice, for it to get extra shiny. In between the two stages, I sat on the balcony and read Moby Dick or played Ultimate Tennis on my tablet. Certainly makes time fly easier.
I haven't seen again the girl from back then, when I checked my mailbox for new letters. That makes me sad.
Just like I haven't met with lt. Sock since, either.
...Hey! Do you think maybe the two of them hooked up and went to Malibu this weekend? Boo! I sure hope not.
I got two new letters in my mailbox yesterday, though. How exciting!
Thinking of buying a turntable and start a vinyl collection. I checked this Audio-Technica LP120 on the internet today and it looked bitchin'. Alas, no money. I also started following Donald Trump's Twitter account today. His tweets are so stereotypical, though. Bad!
Also, grapes. I like them.
Bye.

Re: [NIGHT 8] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts
Hey everyone.
I got back in touch with lt. Sock, but he was still very private about where he was off too.
I finished mopping and dusting off the place, but then I forgot to go downstairs at 7pm this evening to pay the rent. And it was the last day to do so. D'oh. Strange how, between putting aside the money to do so and having to go do so, two hours later, I completely forgot to do so, because of occupying myself to write some fiction. I wonder if I'll get in trouble for this. Certainly not the very best impression I could have made.
I haven't got back in touch with mailbox girl, though... W-what if she's involved in the building administration and will hear about me forgetting to pay my rent? Or even worse, the person delegated to receive these payments herself? I'll never see that smile again from her...
Uhm that's about all I can report on this phase.

Re: [END] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts
Anyhoo, I don't have much to report. MP invited me to play and I was like "naw maan I can't" and then he let me in on the prison aspect and indy separate game and I was like "sold!".
Prison game was fun and I have to thank Long Con for helping us big time to achieve our third challenge and break free. Real sad to see he derped into a modkill, soon after.
Sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes during the break cycle, particularly Golden (I did all that in good jest), but I knew I had no chance achieving parole with P50 basically stealing the limelight and becoming the new reflector himself. Then again, I knew I had to be at least a bit active as to earn some parole votes and JJJ's benediction (MP sending me that PM about whom I parole myself got me thinking right away that a second parole will occur and I might be the top paroled's doing, so....).
As I wrote in the thread at the time of my parole, I wouldn't have continued to play in the main game, if I would have had a choice (I didn't, because JJJ won the parole and chose to stay, so I had to fly away), sorry. Of course, I hid that fact even from Sockyhost, when he asked me in theory. Gotta say, though, I love me some wingrabs, I think I haven't failed a single time, so far, to win a game with a win grab con.

As the Warden, I knew he was an original prisoner and therefore not one of the family members. No reason to waste an arrest on him.

Be as JJJ as I can possibly be. I'll be honest, on Day 5 I was just going for appearances. I didn't care whether my reads were accurate at all, I just wanted everyone to know exactly who I am and give me the parole with the promise that I'd give the kind of effort that is typical of me.
I'm glad it worked, but I also worried the other prisoners would be annoyed by my post-mania and try to stop me.
Actually, until we broke out of prison, I thought I landed with Diiny in my cell. Which was funny, because Dinny slipped on RYM that he was mislynched. Diiny played hard the first Days on CD-FIVEMOREINITIALS, so I imagined he'd work hard in Prison and Parole duty, too. But yeah, as soon as Day 5 started, I fully realized who I really partnered with.
Plus, I actually had a big schemng plan to pretend I'm Diiny and demand my parole, once prison break would occur... only for the Hosts to enforce the no-hint rule. D'oh.

As awesome as ever. I'm glad you grabbed the win (hey, you also won my game, as well!) I know what it's like to craft a meta game (although nothing as accomplished as you do all the time) and how bad it would feel to do all that only to get a 'zero' on the 'result card'.G-Man wrote:Maybe it was easy for you because you got out Night 5. Easiest one I ever achieved, too.
Now, let good old Dr. Evil explain a few things...
When I was approached about joining this game in secret I knew that, for me to stay engaged, I had to play in character. The prison aspect sounded like it get get either dull or hostile or both depending on how well we did with those challenges. I gave MP and SD a choice of three characters I would play as:
-Dr. Evil (which they picked, probably because he was the only one with a prison pic)
-Gollum/Smeagol from Lord of the Rings (would have been fun but I probably never would have been paroled)
-Olaf from Frozen (I was secretly hoping they'd pick this one but I probably would have drove too many prisoners nuts and they'd have shanked me)
I played in character 100% of the time until those posting challenges broke me. I even PM'ed the hosts as Dr. Evil. It was fun.
On our first day in prison, I wrote a big long spiel about how the original prisoners should all stick together and make sure only original prisoners got paroled when the chance arose. It was called Operation Improbably Victorious You or Operation IVY. In true Dr. Evil form, this was wordplay because Operation Ivy was an influential ska-punk band in the late 80s that eventually became the 90s punk band Rancid. It was my version of the "Alan Parsons Project" that Dr. Evil created. I later created an acronym for the BUDDY System for the posting challenges but I can't remember what it all stood for. Go find it in the prison threads.
I tried to pick a fight with Scotty during the prison break so I could do the whole "Scotty don't!" bit to some length but he either wasn't around or wasn't interested. I also tried to do the "zip it" and "shh!" bits with a few people but it never lasted long enough. Oh well.
We original prisoners were tight. I'm proud of all of them. We worked so hard and a few of the newbies worked hard too, so major kudos to them as well! The prison, at times, felt like a sick and twisted team-building exercise. It was a trying ordeal but rewarding in the end.
No non-original prisoner got paroled. How cool is that? Operation IVY was actually conceived out of my own paranoia that non-original prisoners would eventually outnumber original prisoners and start shanking us. They outnumbered us soon enough but not enough of them seemed to care or organize enough against us. So thanks for that!
Did anyone figure out it was me behind the Dr. Evil shtick? I was half-worried that it would be too obvious because playing in character would stand out and I've developed a reputation for standing out through my posting methods.
I PM'd MP when your spirits were almost broken during the D10 challenge. Then he disclosed that the missing prisoner, who failed you the challenge, was Sorsha. Gosh darn it.

Re: [END] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts
I wrote the corniest letter I could think off. And me mentioning Brighton was part of my "pretend I'm Diiny" plan. I thought the letters would be published during our prison break, to sweet talk the locals. Of course, as I've said, the "pretend I'm Diiny" plan became 0% viable during the prison break.
What were the letters for, after all?

Depends if you put them to share a cell, during the Night phases.Epignosis wrote:Wait, we had men and women fraternizing in the same prison? I've yet to fail with a win grab role, so far.

Re: [END] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts
Was there any point in which there were fears that Epig being handed the Warden duty would be too on the nose, given the Shawshank theme of that sock being adapted? Or did any player attempt making the connection, in private or public? I admit I didn't, the only contenders I thought of were Golden and Turnip Head, for some reason. Yet the Bublé thing in E.S.T. just now made me think how, sometimes, the design can backfire.

Percentage-wise, probably true.Golden wrote:One could say you are out-marmoting marmot.Ricochet wrote:One could say I didn't do anything.Epignosis wrote:I was never clear on what Ricochet did to win.

That's... wow, quite ironic.

Re: [END] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts
I had no certainty it was you, but I did genuinely built that antagonism based on you tauntingly sockguessing, while we, having just gotten out for some fresh, were under strict rules not to even joke around with that.Golden wrote:So you really thought it was me?Ricochet wrote:Was there any point in which there were fears that Epig being handed the Warden duty would be too on the nose, given the Shawshank theme of that sock being adapted? Roleplay should give it away immediately. I suck at it and don't attempt it unless I absolutely have to. The only way I would have been Shawshanking it up is if I was forced to speak only in Shawshank quotes.
As for the Warden's roleplay, I do reckon a bit of Shawshank dialogue was imported, but otherwise he simply posted neutral, monitoring commands.

Re: [END] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts
This is about as detailed as I managed to keep my spreadsheet for this game. Main game details are incomplete and there's really no way to find out all the night power uses or vote manips, unless the Hosts kept a diary, but I also monitored Prison activity (before and after my own pardon time), sometimes with details about the challenges.

Re: [END] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts
That's ok, the main game was something I didn't have access to for the first four cycles, then only got to spectate as much as I could (meaning basically to keep track of the votes), so I don't feel this time that I have to add every possible detail to the mural. Besides, stuff like the loaning consequences or the Don's challenge's effects sound too intricate and diverse to try to cover what happened throughout the game, in that regard.MovingPictures07 wrote:Ricochet wrote:This is about as detailed as I managed to keep my spreadsheet for this game. As always, impressive stuff.
Was there anything you still wanted to know? Not sure what level of detail we could provide with respect to every night action though, especially since we kept completely separate team power records.
I'm more content with offering a detailed as possible track of the Penitenciary Proceedings, where I was born and raised myself, until my liberation.
