Jackofhearts2005 wrote: Thu Jan 11, 2018 7:11 pm I'm not really giving Made any townie cred for being brave and sharing reads. Way I see it, anyone can throw out reads based on nothing and do a combination of refusing to answer questions about reads and walking them back.

I don't know Made well enough to say this is normal or this is suspicious but I can't see how anyone could give him townie cred for it.
Yeah, the reads themselves aren't the reason I'm giving Made townie credit. It's there mere fact of their existence that I like. Even if they are totally bogus and "based on nothing", I like that Made opened himself up to discussion they would inevitably bring up. It's not impossible for a scum Made to take this step, and his own contributions to that discussion are going to carry a lot of weight for how my read develops, but at this moment I'm glad he posted a rainbow list and feel good about him for it.

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 0]

novaselinenever wrote: Thu Jan 11, 2018 7:57 pm
We have 3 kinds of Mafia.

Regular Mafia : It has a night start. There is no Day 0. It's a kind of role madness with a lot of power roles. The setup is closed and the night write-ups are filled with flavor names. Each role has a flavor name. So it's about the write-up and scum hunting during the day phase.

Traditional Mafia : It has a Day start. The setup is also closed and it's all about scum-hunting. There is no major write-ups.

Town of Salem : Night start. Open setup if only 15 players. More than that, the set-up is closed.

Roleclaiming depends on the host and what kind of Mafia. In traditional, it's usually forbidden or heavily frowned upon. You usually hint.
In Regular, the policy is leniant. The only thing you shouldn't do is quote your role PM.
Thanks. Do any players here stand out to you one way or the other?

I'm going to prove to you that Sloonei is bad this game. I have a real good feeling about that. He is bad an I'm a doctor!
Also Made has wilgy as his second strongest town read on the strength of this post and nothing else (wilgy's only other contribution at the time of made's rainbow was an OT comment about jack's avatar). I guess I overlooked this post when I was discussing Made's observation about heat on me, but I don't really take this seriously since it doesn't seem like wilgy's expressing an actual suspicion of me, rather he's just shaking his fist at me for having close to 50 posts on Day 0. I'd shake my fist at me too. That's ridiculous.
I don't understand any of Made's reads, I guess, but that doesn't stop me from liking that they exist at this point.
Why did it take you so long to comment on this? Why did you provide a reason other than suspicion when I said I was suspicious of you?
I didn't have a reason to respond to it initially because you didn't seem to be expressing any reason to suspect me. It seemed more like a mission statement rather than a declaration of suspicion: "I'm going to prove to you that Sloonei is bad this game." I only addressed the post in the context of the discussion around Made. I frankly do not care about your stance on me here because it doesn't appear that you have one. You have a hypothesis that I am bad. Get back to me when you find the symptoms of my badness, Doctor.

Gut.
I'm not sure what to do with this post from Quin most of all. Our conversation started with him giving me a town read. I then dragged us into a discussion of my recent mafia meta (Quin and I were recently a mafia hydra-pairing together on MU) and, after some initial hesitation, he identified some possible signs to differentiate between my town and scum play. I wanted to get a feel for whether or not these thoughts were something he was factoring into his read of me here (this did not seem to be the case), and instead his reason for town reading me was expressed in three letters: gut. I don't object to Quin gut reading me. But I don't like the sequence of events leading up to the declaration of this gut read and his answers to my questions did not seem to reflect an earnest progression of thoughts.

Comparing your first buncha posts here to other civ Sloonei posts makes me feel that you are being non genuine here. An example of difference can be found by comparing this game to the search for Quin.

Now. Why did I have to bark for you to bat an eye?
weak. To say nothing of the accuracy of your meta read on me, the posts you reference here are hardly relevant to any actual gameplay, and the rest of my day 1 posts were a bunch of 1-line questions and prods of individual players.

I uh got my start playing on RYM about 7 years ago, then migrated here in 2015, taking up permanent residence with the death of RYM's OT board. Two years ago I was a finalist in MafiaUniverse's Tournament of Champions and I've been a part of many games here on the Syndicate.

Why?
He's oozing with sincerity, there's emotion in his dialogue with Jack that I don't think would be there if he was bad, and his self-imposed post cap is something he could easily milk if he drew a scum role. Instead he seems to be struggling against it. Not to mention the alignment of his thoughts with mine in more than one place.

As for Made, I came out feeling good about him because he felt compelled to post a Day 0 rainbow unprompted. That's a bold move for scum to make. Since then, however, I've only had questions for him and none of them have been answered (I don't blame him for that, he's just been absent.) I can't offer a take on his read of me because I can't see where it comes from. He implied that he perceived me as feeling heat on Day 0, but I actually felt like I had achieved an inordinate amount of townie cred for that phase of the game. I don't know where any of his reads come from right now, and that's problematic. Maybe the boldness of the Day 0 rainbow was Made's principal motivation. He just played a solid scum game in Vocaroo but had his credibility destroyed when game mechanics all pointed to him. Maybe he drew another scum role in this game and wanted to come out swinging.

"focused" seems like a little bit much. i was interested in the day 0 poll at the time because it was relevant and i haven't played a game where there was one in quite a while. I think that there's a lot to be gained by revealing mafia and indie secrets as soon as possible so we know what we're up against.

which causes me concern because you haven't verbally denied anything that made has said about you. which is troublesome behavior in a game with a lie detector. you haven't commented on his read on you other than to explain that you don't know where it comes from, which is technically true.

it seems like if Made has any kind of intel, that it indicated to him indie or at least not-civilian. Even if Made doesn't have any sort of intel, you still haven't responded positively or negatively, which bugs me because the only players in a mafia game like this who benefit from that sort of ambiguity are players with mafia roles and indies and... one of the indie roles needs to make sure 12 civilians die in order to win.

so that's my 2 cents on that
If you'd like me to deny anything Made has said about me: I am neither a Loner role nor a member of the Outworld team. I don't see that there's anything for me to respond to directly besides that. He's not elaborated further than the existence of his read.

i don't think anything of it really.... i've been killed a few times recently and put into consideration a few other times for early murder for seeming too genuine, Jay wanted to kill me in phenon, i died night one in vocaroo. and apparently jack and dunya have had conversations about how much easier i am to kill that to lynch.

so i don't really mind a little heat.
Okay but what does it tell you about me? I am the most important thing in this thread.

and you'll stand by this denial?

I'm interested in Made's thoughts still, and in his cryptic weirdness, but we're cool for now.

Hello, thanks for asking. Yes its quite well, a lot of chit chat has happend the past 48 hours. Many accusations of here & such, one thing I wanna point out is at speedchuck for their- "Why not" response in voting. isn't a suffice answer to a killing, we gotta be wise on who we are voting, I read a few replies as to why x is voting for x but just bluntly saying "why not" is a dangerous reply especially if we end up killing a town, now is there a real reason? if so would like to hear. Also for @marmot voting for @Nova (correct me if I'm wrong), out of the blue voting, I know votes can change but we can't be so quick to start voting off people who haven't done anything sketchy. (?) If otherwise clarify this for me.please. I dont like how quin is playing the game by saying hes too lazy to participate. . In earleir post.. >_> (reminds me of the game i played with him last year). for now I'm simply observing evryones behaviours, getting to know names & their reactions to such & such would help me understand the game play of everyone a bit better.
Voting early and often is the best strategy, but you're not wrong to be wary of unreasoned votes. I don't know why Marmot is voting for novaseline (nova is also a newcomer to the Syndicate like you. Marmot is a Syndicate veteran). Speedchuck is dangling his vote in front of us to generate discussion, I think. By saying "why not", he's inviting others to discuss the possible reasons for or against his vote.

I don't have a clear read on him yet. I wasn't as alarmed by him as you were earlier in the day, but I also wasn't involved in the exchange and only glanced at it quickly. I had a vague sense that he was earnestly trying to read you.

MacDougall wrote: Sat Jan 13, 2018 12:53 am Nobody is talking about Wilgy.

Vote 1 Quin. But yeah wilgy. That guy is bothersome.
I'm still curious about his bizarre tunneling of me. It seemed like an avant-garde mafia experiment, which is sort of a description of wilgy's meta in general I guess. In my head there's a link between Made and wilgy right now because they've been the only two to go after me in any manner this game, both neither of them seemed to be basing their reads on anything concrete, and in wilgy's case I doubt its sincerity entirely.

I don't know what this says about his alignment, but I do recall late in Mountain mafia when Eloh and wilgy (scum partners) seemed to make a coordinated push against me late in the game. The context was entirely different there, but wilgy's behavior is similar.

lapluie care to share a read on me and an expanded one on Quin? we're the players you know coming in, so we could be your most natural reads.

I don't actually care that much about the lie detector for this, and it's not like they could let us know anyways.

If you're a dangerous role and Made knows something about you but is giving you a pass for possibly being the less dangerous indie then... I want to make sure that that can't happen because it could cause problems down the road.

If Made notices any contradictions then I'm sure he'll tell us about it.
How would Made have insight into my role? This is not a possibility which has entered my mind because if he did have insight, he would be less wrong about me.

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 1]

Made your reads are a point of confusion for myself and others in this game. I see that they exist, but I don't see where they come from. Your reads of myself and Macdougall are particularly confusing to me. When you have time, could you explain some of these reads in more detail?

Why not? :faint:
Is that a question or an answer?
Yes.

I'm voting Marmot because I see no reason not to.
I'm voting him because he voted for a newbie.

Why should I NOT vote for Marmot?

To expand upon that, there have been a lot of votes-for-no-stated-reason in this topic. But when I post one, I immediately get FOUR 'why?'s. I want an explanation as to why my vote is so danged baffling.
Sloonei just votes for people. You don't. Also, I was first to ask. It's not 4x baffling. 3x not paying attention.

As for Marmot, I have no reason not to vote for him at this time.
Is this to say you don't care about the reasons why I've voted for people?
