That would be amazing! No pressure though. :)
Neverwhere wrote:I've been into MBTI for a while, I'm actually ENFJ but mistyped as INFJ for a while so a few years ago when I was bored I googled infj forums and joined the first one that popped up. Heiots asked us if we would be interested in playing mafia and i always loved the 30 min games of it we used to play in youth group, so i was teh first to sign up. Golden asked if I'd come and join here after the game because he thought myself and my team mates did a pretty good job.
We are certainly happy to have you. I don't know much at all about that topic. Heiots told me she was hosting a mafia game over on that site and needed a couple more players which was why I joined, and I think same for Golden, Spacedaisy, and fingersplints, and I think DisgruntledPorcupine too. I'd read the Chronicles of Naria a while back, so was happy to know a bit about the theme
Neverwhere wrote:I am really enjoying mafia so far. I feel like I'm going through some sort of evoloutionary process with it! I've played Narnia, Omerta, and am now currently playing Bullets over Broadway. I'm finding it rather intimidating at the moment. All teh games I've played to date have been pretty small, and this one is huge and there's a lot more snark than I am used to so I'm still trying to get a feel for it. I really enjoy it, but find the bigger games a little overwhelming in regards to sheer volume of posts and players! Practice makes perfect!
We've got a fine little community of mafia players here, though we have our own style that is different from a lot of mafia I've played previously. If there's one thing we love doing here, it's running large games with lots of complicated roles and mechanics involved.
Neverwhere wrote:gosh, hard to say. I haven't got to know people very much. Talking to yourself has been quite wonderful, before joining up here I didn't get to talk to you much as I was trying to avoid you -- you were the only one onto me haha. G-man and Canucklehead stick out quite a bit with their quirky personalities and posting styles. I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone though -- I have a feeling ill be sticking around.
That Narnia game was fun, even if we civilians played a really crappy game. I was a bit surprised that I was nightkilled, but after the game, it made sense, lol. Mafia is a game of deceit and lies, so as you witnessed in that game, tempers can flare and things can get out of hand. But in the end, we must remember that it is a game, and we're here to have fun.

G-Man is new to me as well (though some of the folks around here played with him years ago), but he seems like a wonderful person. Canucklehead I've played with from time-to-time, but I know you have to watch out for her. She is certainly prone to epic strategies if she is given the opportunity. You just have to ask her about the Roger Rabbit game we played recently.
Neverwhere wrote:Favourite band/musician. I am shit with favourites to be honest with you....but I've always adored Coheed and Cambria. Mostly their early works...first two albums were the best, although I haven't heard their newer stuff. Also going through a big Brand New phase. I've just found out they are playing Dublin in September and I am so ridiculously excited that after 10 or 11 yers of being a hardcore fan I will get to see them live.
Excellent! I've got a few of their albums, and my favorite by far is Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV, Volume 1. I like their recent double (split) album that came out a couple years ago, but it is certainly a bit different than their early stuff. I've never heard of Brand New before? What kind of music do they make?

RYM Game #26 (Half-Life theme) - i was G-Man, self-aligned. i had one of the most overpowered roles ever, but thankfully i didn't win with it. i just caused mayhem, laughed my ass off, and died. my abilities:

~ PGO - any attempt to night kill me would fail, and the player trying to do it would die instead
~ twice during the game during any night phase, i could send one player name to the mod. the following day phase, anyone who voted for that player would die (including me).

back then it was common on RYM for double lynches to be legal. so i set one up with a fake roleclaim suggesting i'd been able to ID one of two players as mafia (not both) without knowing which one. i placed my vote on the one i didn't name obviously. so, in addition to getting those two players lynched based on a complete b/s lie, i also caused this:

https://rateyourmusic.com/board_message ... msg3903552

it was so beautiful. XD
Oh my, that was beautiful.
This is the closest I have come to such a thing, but I only took two players with me.

And while I wasn't the primary instigator for this, I was part of the team that caused it.

Someday, I will kill 10 players at one time. :noble:

Disregard the space between the e and a. :p

Re: Interrogation Room

Canucklehead wrote:All of our animals eat regular animal food (though we do splurge and get the the fancy schmancy grain-free super duper healthy stuff, because I am easily swayed by branding and advertising  ), so they are all meat eaters. Kenobi, in particular, has a minor addiction to this fancy beef jerky treat and to Himalayan yak chews (Damn you Bark Box and your insistence on continually introducing my dog to super expensive treats!) I, too, have had some experiences with people being piously vegan and shaming me for "allowing" my animals to take part in the meat industry, and while it really bothered me at first, I'm now very much at the point where I say to such people "Fuck you. Part of the reason why I'm vegan in the first place is that I care about the well-being and humane treatment of animals. Banning my dog and especially my cats from nutrient sources that are a vital part of their natural diet is not congruent with those concerns. I don't feel confident that I can ensure their health, well-being, and quality of life on a plant only diet, so they eat what keeps them healthiest and happiest. I chose to be vegan, they did not, so get your nosy snout out of our dinners." :p I'm the first to admit that there are obviously some logical inconsistencies and hypocrisies in this practice, but the bottom line is that I love my animals and want them to live the healthiest, happiest lives I'm capable of giving them. That involves feeding them meat and other animal products. I have heard of people "successfully" feeding pets vegan diets, but I don't know what the metric for success in such a situation is. Not starving? :shrug2: That's not really good enough for my pampered fur babies, and I don't know enough about canine or feline nutrition to feel confident that I could do it right. Even the study of human nutrition is basically only as scientifically sound and as epistemologically stable as alchemy, so I don't even want to begin to mess with my pets' diets.
For me, it comes down to the same philosophy which allows me to live with and love an omnivoire: I chose this, they did not.

Vegan zealots can be a particularly bitchy and self-righteous lot. There are even groups of super hard core vegans who believe that the ownership of animals in any capacity (whether as pets, livestock, workers, whatever) is just as bad as factory farming and wholesale slaughter. I, obviously, believe this is bullshit....but they're out there, and they're kooky, and they love nothing more than to tell other people that they're doing veganism "wrong". There are no belief structures, religious or otherwise, that are without their zealots and their witch-hunters. I work very hard to smile and walk away....but sometimes a good "fuck right off" is in order, methinks. ;)

I have never had a reptile or amphibian, except for about 4 hours when I was a kid and I found someone's pet turtle wandering in the ditch on my street and I took him home and filled my Cabbage Patch Kids stroller with water and a few rocks and fed the turtle pieces of sliced ham until his owner came looking for him. :haha: My ideal pets are more snuggly/playful/romp-around-able than pets that need specialized environments to live in, so I would probably be a terrible reptile/amphibian owner because I would constantly be taking the poor thing out of its aquarium and trying to make it fetch or cuddle or some such thing.
Well I applaud your efforts at not being an extremist nincompoop, Miss Canucklehead. My mother is a pescatarian, but she is a fantastic cook. Thankfully, she will still cook anything and everything for us kids growing up. I find it truly amazing that she can cook a better rack of ribs or chicken piccata than anyone I know, and she hasn't eaten meat in decades. And of course she would cook it for us. She didn't let her lifestyle impact the choices of her kids. Sure she made her vegetarian dishes for us on many an occasion to try, but I found that enjoyable as well.

Canucklehead wrote:I don't really miss many specific things, since it's been so long without them (10 years!) that any sort of cravings and desires are long since gone. I DO, however, still miss the ease of being able to order and eat anything/anywhere.
And here lies the benefit of being a vegetarian by habit, rather than by definition. :) But don't get my wrong, veganism and carnivorism are both wonderful things.

Canucklehead wrote:Disney World and Universal were challenges (no butterbeer for me :( ). I can (and did) plan ahead and pack my own food, but this weekend I definitely missed the ability to just not give a shit and eat a pile of shitty park food.
What was your favorite part of Disney World/Harry Potter World? My family is there right now as well.
Canucklehead wrote:Protein isn't really too much of a problem for me. Nuts, nut butters, quinoa, beans, and legumes are all great protein sources, and I have at least one of these things with everything I eat. More probematic for me is vitamin B12, which does not occur naturally in plant sources. During periods of heavier-than-usual physical activity or stress, I'll often supplement with a vegan protein/nutritional powder....but yeah. I'm really bad about B12.
What sort of physical activity do you partake in?
Canucklehead wrote:(Guinness, for example, is not vegan)
What? :scared: That will make me think twice about drinking one of those.
