The Breaking of the Fellowship

So it happened. The orcs found the Fellowship, collapsing on the small group from all sides Long Con was the first to go, struck by arrows from all directions. He collapsed to the ground as the orcs swarmed 'round the remainder of the group.

Long Con has been lynched. He was...

Gimli

He was a vanilla civilian.

The game has ended. The mafia wins, the mafia being Elohcin, Epignosis, and speedchuck.

In my opinion, I didn't see any reason to find that suspicious. All of the mafia members had alternate civilian role-claims in the case that a mass role-claim happened.

Unless you were Frodo or Gandalf, it mattered not who you were.

Thank you for hosting, Marmot. Congrats, to the Mafia team. As I said earlier, this game was a fitting end to my Mafia playing career here at The Syndicate. Thanks to all for the game.

If you hadn't gotten a power role, I'd have made you the real Glorfindel.

Thanks so much for playing Glorfindel. It's been a pleasure to host for you, play you, get lynched by you, and make your acquaintance. I remember your first couple games playing here, and I really admire your resilience to come back and give mafia another go. I hope this isn't the end of our interactions together!

It was balanced man the game was lost for three reasons.

1. Epignosis is damn hard to lynch.
2. Sloonei is damn hard to lynch.
3. The strong townies in this game spent the early game building resentment against one another and I was very distracted.

I didn't see much of Elo's play so I can't comment but Epignosis did great.

One thing you were wrong about is that civ sloonei wouldn't have bailed out of this game.
I only stuck around as long as I did because I was bad. It was annoying to have to drop out of the game where I finally got a scum role card.

Epi was awesome, and speeechuck seemed to turn the tinfoil suspicion against our spot away without a major event. Good win, y'all.

Town's inactivity early on was a killer. I wanted to do something about it but that would have been stupid.

Welp. This one's going on my personal Wall of Shame.

The reason why I was so quiet was that I wasn't sure if LC was being bussed or if scum were framing him. TBH, he was my biggest suspicion, so I most likely would have voted for him out of everyone. Plus, I knew I was a goner anyway the next night phase.

I basically had no idea what the hell was going on for the entire game, so I have to give major props to the mafia. Hopefully, it'll go down in a less embarrassing way next time.

ROLE SECRETS

Frodo - Frodo is the Bearer of The Ring. --- SECRETS --- Frodo may twice put the ring on to escape danger. If a day phase ends with any number of votes on him, he will don the ring to escape the lynch. If he is targeted with a nightkill, he will again don the ring to escape the nightkill.

Sauron - Sauron may search each night for The Ring, roleblocking his target in the process. --- SECRETS --- If Sauron finds the ring, he’ll take it for himself.

Note: The Ring does nothing for Sauron if he takes it. It only prevents Frodo from being able to use it again.

NIGHT ACTIONS

Night 1

Glorfindel - Do nothing

Sloonei - Search/Roleblock Long Con
timmer - Kill novaselinenever

Night 2

Glorfindel - Do nothing

Sloonei - Search/Roleblock DFaraday
timmer - Kill nutella

Night 3

Glorfindel - Kill insertnamehere

speedchuck - Search/Roleblock Glorfindel
timmer - Kill MacDougall

Since Glorfindel was roleblocked, the kill did not go through on insertnamehere. Had Glorfindel not been blocked, insertnamehere wouldn't have died anyway, but he'd have been forced to use the Ring.

Night 4

Glorfindel - Roleblock Epignosis

speedchuck - Search/Roleblock insertnamehere
Elohcin - Kill insertnamehere

insertnamehere was simultaneously searched and killed. Insertnamehere used the Ring to escape death here, but the search also let speedchuck take the Ring, preventing future use.

Night 5

Glorfindel - Protect juliets

speedchuck - Kill Glorfindel

It was circumstantial that Glorfindel roleblocked Epignosis when the nightkill failed. Had insertnamehere not roleclaimed, I'm very curious to have seen how that day would have panned out.

Wow.

That was a rare case of a civilian power role outing himself and bringing disaster to the civilians. Glorfindel was ready to take me down.

You will also note that I didn't carry out the kill for my team a single time. There's a reason for that. ;)

Afraid? No.

The roleblocker picked me. If I am bad, I have my quieter teammates carry out the kill. Eloh / timmer carried out most of our kills.

Thanks yeah the belief is that I sustained a minor one... I was wobbly for a few days and had head aches for over a week. I'm feeling pretty good now though.

Glorfindel wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2018 2:08 am Thank you for hosting, Marmot.

You’re a lovely fellow, Marmot. I wish you every happiness and success in everything you do. It may not be the end of our interactions - as it turns out, I’ve never hosted a game and would love to give it a try one day, sooo... Take care, my friend :hugs:

Glorfindel, I wish I had gotten to play with you longer. Thank you so much for protecting me the night you got killed (boo hoo).
JaggedJimmyJay wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 3:24 pm Always good to remember that there is no such thing as a Mafia circumstance that is worth real human emotion. Sometimes it will naturally come out, but it can be contained if we just remember that this is a game on a message board forum that 99.99% of the population of the Earth has never heard of before. No matter how successful anyone is, it means just about nothing.

Indeed, you have always been exceedingly nice to me during my time here and I appreciate that a great deal. I wish you too, every success and happiness both in your Mafia games and life in general. It was an honour to have protected you the night I died, think nothing of it! Take care, my friend :hugs:
