Re: Syndicate Fantasy Football League 2015
Last night's game was closer than it seemed. Had Pittsburgh made those two field goals and the Patriots not started out with such prime field position, who knows? Then again, Pittsburgh's D was really sloppy. They're in for a long season if they don't straighten things out.
Brady looked so pissed off most of the game. Between that and all the coverage of these scandals, it seems like the league and/or the media is trying to craft the Patriots as the league's villain. It kind of reminds me of the 1986 "Duel in the Desert" NCAA football championship between Miami and Penn State. Miami was this powerful, intimidating team that carried themselves with what appeared to be arrogance and swagger. Penn State was played up to be a virtuous, humble group of kids. Seems like New England is being fashioned by some to be akin to that '86 Hurricanes team.

The marmot probably made changes because he auto-drafted. I guess Jay just wanted a different kicker. I probably pounced on C. Michael too early but I bought into the hype and I'd rather be too early than too late.

Quite a few close matchups this week. Tannehill and the Miami offense let me down but at least they didn't poop the bed completely. Looks like Kelce will fulfill the prophecy of being a mini-Gronk this year, but he's currently carrying my entire sadsack team. My WR corps is in trouble with injuries and apparently I haven't learned my lesson to never draft a Jag. I'm gonna need a huge game from Peterson tomorrow night.

Sidenote, apparently I didn't enable fractional points for yardage... must have been an oopsie because I usually like playing with fractions so that every yard counts. What does everyone else think? This is something I don't mind changing if the overwhelming majority of the league is in favor of it.

Would you have drafted differently if there was fractional points? :P
It's not changing anything essential though, like changing QB TD's from 4 to 6 points... it just makes the scoring more accurate. I do understand the sentiment of not wanting to change anything though.

Your boy Blue sucks and is gonna lose his job in a few weeks so you need to find a new flex play. Olsen had a bad game but he'll be fine. I don't know what possessed you to draft the Tampa defense, you should try and find a new one because they're gonna be bad all year. The rest of your team played admirably.Ricochet wrote:I checked the results and, apart from seeing that I lost to Sock by 1.5 points and that my players are fine, I don't understand anything else that happened.

Well, hell if I'll monitor any of that.
I don't remember why I picked Buccaneers, my first options must have vanished by then. I could tell at least that scoring "1" looks pretty deplorable.
The breaking news is less helpful than it was during the drafting. Where can I read about stuff like Blue being dropped, for instance?
Finally, dropping players, getting new ones. How does it work? Do I just use the "Drop" and "Claim" buttons, then wait for the claimed to be mine in order of the waiver?

Good question. There's a lot of resources out there but in your case, without following football, it will sort of feel like studying for a test without ever going to class. Podcasts, articles... I'll send you some of the ones I use and you can decide if it's worth your time.Ricochet wrote:The breaking news is less helpful than it was during the drafting. Yes. Waivers clear in the early morning (EST) tomorrow so get your claims in soon if you want to make any. After waivers process, any unclaimed players will be Free Agents and it's first come first serve. Normally there's some strategy on whether or not to use a high waiver priority or wait til a player hits Free Agency, but our waiver priority resets weekly, so you might as well use it.Ricochet wrote:Finally, dropping players, getting new ones. I feel bad for Rico, because he doesn't watch football, never played fantasy, and I half-forced him to sign up to make room for you, so I don't mind dishing out a little free advice to start the season. That said, my money is on Rico not doing a lick of research. And he's on his own now
