I thought it was Alcoholic Accountants of America? I can call my Dad and ask, I am sure he is a member.

Reminds me of when my kids ask me "how do you deal with our shit?" My standard response is "functional alcoholism" sadly, they think I'm joking.

Last night was the first of our two annual HOA meetings. Three people volunteered to serve as board members along with one of the current board members being willing to stay on. That means that, after three years as HOA Treasurer, I get to step down!

Also, I now have a nephew! Between the HOA, the healthy nephew, and the hockey game last week, this is stacking up to be a pretty good week. :nicenod:

So as some of you know, one of my old university lecturers contacted me earlier this week and asked if I'd be interested in assisting her with a research project, which I accepted. I know it's going to be so different and overwhelming, but in the most fulfilling way possible.

I'll let you know if I still feel the same in a few days :noble:

Awesome! Now do the responsible adult thing and keep the monthly payment amount in your budget but put it into savings each month. :srsnod:

Or.... depending on how large your monthly payment was, you could save 2/3 to 3/4 of your former car payment and put the remaining 1/4 to 1/3 to work and add it to whatever you currently pay on any student loans or credit card debt (if you carry credit card debt- please say no). That way you're both saving AND reducing your debt. Win-win baby. Win-win.

I decided to listen to Epi and now I'm broke. Thanks for nothing, G. Should have been more persuasive.

But then I got hired for a new job. Finally. I can (hopefully) retire from my nocturnal lifestyle. Orientation begins November 6th. Adult achievement #2 unlocked.

I'll be working as a mental health specialist at a psychiatric program. Basically a patient supervisor. Helping them in whatever way I can. It pays much better than my current job (roving restaurant employee), comes with much more manageable hours, looks good on a resume, and actually has the potential to be rewarding work. I've been waiting for this to fall in line for almost two months now. It's a tremendous relief.
It also gives me a more stable schedule in which to fit mafia activities.

Good news. I have a new job, starting next month. It's a 33% pay increase, with extra vacation. Different kind of work too, hoping I'll enjoy it more. What's more, my wife works in the same building.

And yet, I handed in my 2 weeks notice to my boss today (who, by the way, is a nice guy). He tried to negotiate a little bit, and I could tell he was surprised. I think he took it personally, and was upset that (if I was dissatisfied with my job) I hadn't come to him sooner. There were plenty of other positions in the company, he was already negotiating a mid-year raise for me given my performance, etc. So he (I think unintentionally) guilt-tripped me, and now I feel like crap.

yaay.

speed its easy to feel that way and I'm sorry its putting the damper on your celebration. Talk to your boss tomorrow and make sure he/she knows its got nothing to do with them. If they are a good person which I'm sure they are they'll put aside their hurt and be happy for you. I am so glad for you getting such a whopper increase and increase in pto. Woo hoo!

Congrats, speedchuck! :yay:

I echo juliets's sentiment. I've also been in your exact position before, speed. Sometimes it's difficult not to take things personally from either perspective, but most sensible employees and employers rationally know otherwise. This is especially true if the other person in the arrangement makes a sincere enough effort to emphasize that fact.

Just finished writing my personal statement. I'm letting it sit for a day so I can reflect and review and review and review before I officially submit any applications. But the heavy lifting is done. My brain is melted.

Naturally I woke up this morning and felt like the whole thing needed to be tweaked.

I'm done again and this time I feel downright confident. And also a little terrified.

500 word limit, so the challenge is just squeezing everything in there.

I sold my first homemade soap... im fairly excited about it. Probably going to invest more time into this & make it a daily hobby activity, valentine's is next month & that would be a well productive idea planning.

They are organic & animal cruelty free homemade soaps ~ got the inspirations from roayltysoaps on YT, who makes "edible" look alike of sweets & desserts but soaps! It's quite cool. also yes, it's ran by callidora & I but that's all information provided as its top sekrit
