nutella wrote:INH and Quin are making me sad. Dys is the player I trust the most currently (or on about equal footing with Silver and Golden). I believe SO strongly that Dys is civ, I'd say even more so given the recent discussion -- especially their replies to Quin. I was thinking "amen" to everything Dys said in response to Quin's utterly ridiculous and nuance-lacking accusation that they haven't provided reads/reactions to the fakeslip when they so clearly have, and has generally acted very town.

I'm also disappointed in you, Sloonei. I'm glad you backed off of Scotty, since he's been hinting all game and that's part of why I believe he's probably town. But I thought you had said a couple pages back that you'd also be willing to vote for INH or Marmot, and now you don't seem to be considering that at all. I wish you would consider switching to Marmot, especially so close to the deadline when we're not even hitting the soft lynch threshold and he's our best shot.

lots of linki. Sloon can you give reasons you think MM is town?
I never said I'd vote for INH and marmot. I ISO'd both of them because it was suggested that I do and I came out reading them both as town.

I've seen no reason not to view marmot as town. He's provided his thoughts and been inquisitive at points in the game. Not all the time, but I wouldn't expect him to be. What reasons do you have to read him as bad?
1) His presence in the thread has increasingly diverged from his normal style, IMO. You might disagree but that's a general feeling I've had. Call this the gut portion of my reasoning.
2) My suspicion of him has a lot to do with INH and a couple other connections.
3) One little thing that pinged me was that jokey reference to the fakeslip after the night post, the "still 5 scum" thing. Someone, I forget who, teased him with "well how do you know Wilgy wasn't scum?" and I honestly think that's a fair catch. This is a rather weak point because it was just a joke so may not mean anything, but tbh I think it increases his likelihood of being scum because he automatically knew/assumed Wilgy wasn't.
4) I'm sure there was something else but it escapes me in the current frazzlement of the thread.

Plus, as I also said in that post where I decided to vote for him, I think that he will be a very productive flip in terms of determining other alignments; if he flips town I will feel kind of bad about it but we'll also still learn quite a bit. As INH has retorted to me, lynching Dys would have the same benefits, but (a) I suspect Marmot much more, and (b) would feel less bad if he flipped civ than if we lynched a civ Dys because Dys has been participating way way more than Marmot.
@ the highlighted portion, that was me. And that exchange is the closest I've come to suspecting him, admittedly. I thought it was a bit awkward that he thought I didn't know what he was referring to when I was expanding on what he had said, but I wasn't sure that made him bad.

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure I've ever actually seen a scum marmot.
@nutella's highlighted portion.

If you think I slipped up in that post, what makes you think Dizzy didn't slip? My post was a comedic reference to his.

It doesn't for me because I suspect Marmot/INH significantly more. And as I also said, I would feel less bad about mislynching a civ marmot than a civ Dys because Dys has been participating a lot and marmot hasn't.

Quin wrote:nutella expressed that INH and I were making her 'sad' and that she was 'disappointed' in Sloonei. Neither of those are stances on our alignments. Something to take with us to Day 3.
I am disappointed in Sloonei because he's been a pretty strong town read for me, I just disagree with a lot of his opinions today. Same goes for you but you're lower on my town list atm.

Nutella is my biggest scumread other than Dys right now.
Can you give some reasons why?

Guys, I know I'm being really crazy right now but that's because of the stress of this EOD and I'm kind of exaggerating my views in the heat of the moment. I might scale back on how I feel about INH/Marmot after some time to reflect, but I don't have any of that right now so instead I'm saying borderline extreme things because I'm worried about this lynch.
This is understandable, but I think that we can learn a lot about what people say and do while under stress.

I don't really quantify it tbh, it's a really subjective assessment of my perception of someone's presence in the thread. Specifically I have seen Dys make much more substantial contributions than you for much of the game.

It's not that I think you slipped. It's that when I responded with a follow-up comment, you acted as if I did not understand what you were talking about. I was confused because I thought it was clear exactly what I was doing. You also never answered my question, but it was only a half-hearted jab so I didn't really care. I just thought it was strange that you misinterpreted my post the way you did. Not necessarily suspicious.

I apologize for my sloppy play today. I said it somewhere in the last page or so but it probably got lost in the shuffle, but this is Day 1 to me, only instead of starting from scratch I started buried under a mile and a half of posts. I've hardly had time to process everything that I've read so far.
I hope my vote ended up in the right place.

Night 2 - Careless Whispers

The Day had felt as if it had gone by in a blur. The Passengers had just left a northern town near the US/Canadian border on there way South East to who knows where? Well obviously whoever had the map, but that was besides that point.

-------------------------------------------------

Eugene Gamma is squatting down over a mess of glass and cheap wine, again. This was the third glass he had shattered so far, the second today. “I’m going to become an alcoholic, i swear,” he tells himself with a sigh. He checks his own copy of the map of stops, they were heading east, about halfway across continental United States so far. “One step closer to home at least.”

Gamma returns to cleaning the carpet, but unbeknownst to him, there was shenanigans afoot in the discussion room…

--------------------------------------------------------

The Passengers were at a standstill on who they were going to judge for that day. After the gruesome death that morning, they were hesitant on submitting someone else to death in fear that they might bring the wrath of their hidden enemies. As the sun began to set, MetalMarsh89 made a drastic move, deciding to take the matters into his own hands, he pulls out a dagger and grabs a nearby passenger, holding the blade next to their throat and wrenching their arm with his other.

“You! You’re one of them arent you!?”
“Yes yes yes. And I deeply apologize folks, but this business is taking simply too much time.” MM says. “This man here, is who we have come for, so I’ll be escorting him out of here personally, I dont care what the plan is. This place is a madhouse!”

Marmot walks backwards out the door towards the back, holding his hostage. Everyone else watched in grim silence. But his hostage had other plans as they pushed off with their feet, throwing MM against the wall and freeing himself. The sudden force had taken the villain off-guard. MM turned to keep running and escape with his life, but was met with a 9mm muzzle to the face.

Eugene Gamma had seen the turn of events and was having none of it.

“Your contract has expired,” he says before squeezing the trigger and putting an end to MM’s life.

MM was Robert Crawford, HIVE Hypnotist:

Spoiler: show
It never ceased to amaze Robert how easily it was to manipulate people. Earning a degree in psychology, he had never thought he would be hired by a big name corporation to further study his craft. The HIVE Corporation had used Robert’s skills and had him double as a counselor to destress their workers, some of whom worked extended shifts. He was away on leave the day The Cleanser had obliterated the HIVE’s main facility in the desert and henceforth, lost many friends, colleagues, and associates alike. Among that, the director, Dr. Cash had gone missing!

Now, under new management, Robert had been sent to this train, disguised as a Lifelurker. His objective, to use his skills to aid the team in capturing a few high value targets. After years of counseling and psychological work however, Robert had become paranoid, and now wanted nothing more than to get back to real work, or at least he hoped.

MetalMarsh89- Mafia Busdriver:
You are the Mafia Busdriver, and are aligned with the HIVE (Mafia).

You win once the HIVE either outnumbers or is equal to the Passengers. As the Busdriver, you may target two targets, actions affecting each targets are switched. You cannot target yourself. You cannot busdrive the Mafia Piercing Gun to the Mafia.
With the HIVE operative gone, everyone relaxes, but only so much as to remind themselves that there was more around them. Eugene Gamma wipes more blood off of his suit and pistol with a napkin he had in his pocket. “Let that be a lesson to you all,” he says as he returns to his room.

Day 3 - Karma

“And on the third day, Eugene said that he didn’t give a flying FUCK!” spat Eugene Gamma from his lounge chair. He was experiencing the effects of last night’s binge drinking episode, that left him with little liquor left to consume. He was almost surprised he hadnt died of blood poisoning yet. Eugene looked up from his chair to stare at the screens in his room. He couldn’t make out a lot in his current state, but it appears, some men had boarded his train upon the arrival into Vanguard.

“Stupid….. *belch* prick cops….” he muttered before passing out.

------------------------------------------------

The local “police” force had boarded the train soon after it had arrived. Gamma had sent forewarning to Sheriff D., the Head of the force, that he had a string of murders he was dealing with on the train and that all he needed was that the train be kept under tight security while he ‘slept in.’ The police boarded the train, and one of them immediately pointed to Silver Lantern, who they quickly rushed at and subdued, bring him outside. Silver Lantern kicked and protested, saying that what was happening was madness. The passengers watched as the officers brought him before a decorated official, or so he appeared. The man looked Silver Lantern up and down before punching him right in the face. He then asked to see one of the officer’s shotguns, to which it was nervously handed to him. The individual pumped all six rounds into Silver Lantern’s chest before throwing the shotgun to the side and walking back towards a group of armored vehicles. The Passengers were stunned at how quickly the situation escalated and could only stare at the corpse as the train left the station. Eugene Gamma makes his special return as he informs everyone of who Silver Lantern was.

Silver Lantern was Springer "Smoke" Wrighton, The Mercenary:
Spoiler: show
Silver Lantern-Janitor:
You are the Odd-Night Town Janitor and are aligned with the Reavers (Town). You win once all threats to the Town have been eliminated. Every Odd Night, you can choose to kill a player. You learn their role. Upon reveal, that player's role will not be revealed to the public.
Seeing the reason, or at least, coming to the conclusion of a possible reason why Silver Lantern was killed. The Passengers put it behind them and continue with the important events of the day.

Day ends in approx 48 hours, or 2/20/2017 at 10 PM EST

On the one hand, a scum roleblocker could easily decide to block Scotty to put him on the hot seat going into today.

On the other hand, this is a very convenient claim.

Replacement Kill: DFaraday

I prepped this ahead of time to introduce myself and just took out reference to Silver Lantern, RIP -

Well, I volunteered to replace into this game because sprityo was nice enough to replace into the GOC even though he was busy hosting this game. I've been skimming the game since it started but I will tell you it's like reading Chinese. Most of the concepts of this game are foreign to me - I've barely played games where you can change your vote and I'm not at all used to claims and info-dumping. I'm also unsure about this movement thing thats happening in the poll - from what I understand someone has a map and probably one or more of those people are civ, and we're supposed to guess who that is and follow them - do I have that right? And once we get there there then what?

As I was skimming along I was feeling good about some people - Fredwood, Dyslexicon, Sloonei, Long Con, nutella - and then INH and Quin came along and listed some of those people as bad. I haven't gone through INH's case on Dyslexicon but I know Quin agrees with it. But then I think Quin also thought Marmot was good so I've got to sort that out. I also need to tell you that speedchuck/strawhenge/JOH all run together in my mind probably because I don't know them. JJJ and Golden I am unsure about. I don't think I've ever seen a bad JJJ and its been a long time since I've seen a bad Golden so I am wary of both. I guess I need to go back and read through that long exchange between the two of them but it's painful to think about doing that.

Eloh I think is probably civ. She's really into baddie bts and I think she would have been more active if she was bad however I say "probably" because I know she was extremely busy with her work last week so maybe this week we'll get a better picture of her. If I haven't named you I don't really have any opinion about you yet.

So thats my introduction. Expect me to ask lots of questions and I'll probably have a fair amount of comments. Please tell me what areas I need to go back and study or what people I should ISO to get in the swing of things. Also, I have been drinking tonight so pay no mind if I say something stupid. Going to bed soon as well.

Quin gave us these very interesting GTH reads shortly before the deadline. Many of these reads should have changed, I think. I'd like to hear his thought process about why I was bad and the marmot was good in particular.

insertnamehere provided a really interesting point as evidence against Dyslexicon at the end of the day. But I took interest in it not as evidence against Dyslexicon at all. Where INH sees Dyslexicon buddying with Golden, I see grounds for suspicion of Golden:
insertnamehere wrote:

Dyslexicon wrote:Sometimes I feel that Golden acts like I'm confirmed town.
Not sure exactly what you're seeing or how you mean this, but I tend to act like everyone is town. Even when I suspect someone on one hand, I don't want to ignore their perspective on things on the other, in case I'm wrong. I think I'm much better at figuring out who is town than who is bad, so this also aids my hunting approach.
It's not for how you interact with me (actually thinking about it, I don't think we've interacted much? Hi.), but more so in your analysis of votes and wagons and how people are treating me, it seems like you assume that I'm town. Both with the reactions to my fakeslip and in regards to the wagon on me. I don't know what this means, it's just a feeling I had and I wrote it out.
If it's accurate that Golden is "assuming" Dyslexicon to be town, it could be because Golden knows Dyslexicon is town and so is not treating them with the same skepticism as everybody else. Scum Golden does not wish to push a fake case against town Dyslexicon and so is content with his town read and is not jumping on the things that all the paranoid townies are jumping on.
This is something I'd need Dyslexicon to comment on before I can be sure it's a legitimate cause for suspicion. Do you see this as a possibility, Dyslexicon?
